Hello frands, time to talk about current plagues, something that is seriously hampering current gameplay and meta and will without any doubt hamper ToL2 and all the following tournaments.
1: Celestial amulet
This amulet, currently, is a joke.
2604 stat is bullkitten, zerker amulet is the second in rank and gives THREE HUNDRED less stats ( 2340).
By far the best amulet for professions having mixed damage ( condi and power) you basically have a bunker dealing WAY WAY TOO MUCH DAMAGE.
Current D/D eles are a way worse version than old S/D bunker eles: before they used to contest a point for ages, now they even kill you, and if you run a squishy build ( like D/P thief) you may EVEN DIE from AoEs in 2vs1.
Of course this problem becomes huge only when added to the second one, or rather…
2: Might stacking, Might Runes and Double Air-Fire sigils
This runes are way more gamebraking than celestial amulet, tho when paired togheter they become the most broken thing this game ever met ( along with problem 3).
All current meta revolves around this rune set.
All meta builds use these runes, sometimes even if they have no reliable way to stack might.
These runes, on professions able to stack might, make sure to deal RIDICOLOUS DAMAGE when built for bunkering ( aka: 5k BLANK arcing arrows, etc…).
This shouldn’t be possible, in no way.
Double air-fire sigils allow profession with low damage output to overcome this issue, especially since their damage scales with might ( hint hint)
Moreover, might stacking and double air-fire sigils lead to the most ridicolous thing this game has ever seen, or rather….
Ok, genuine question. I hear a lot of people say the overall Meta is too bunker/tank heavy. IF your proposed nerfs of Celestial Amulet, Might stacking, and Fire+Air Runes were to happen, wouldn’t that just make the meta even worse? Shouldn’t we be trying to balance the game in such a way as to give more professions a better choice of offensive options?

Dude, we are probably not going to get a balance patch until the end of the year, say Oct/Nov. ANet does not prioritize PvP balance, as it makes them no money in the gem store.

Warrior is probably your best bet getting started in PvP.
Most builds on warrior are easy to learn & get good results.

Valid points/questions, but I don’t think that excuses the mistreatment of developers.
Now, this leads to a fascinating question; Are the developers in their full right to ignore the customers, because it is their game, their property and their creation. Or should they actually listen to the customers when it counts, since without customers, the game itself wouldn’t exist.
As someone who has been a software developer for 8 years, yes, you can ignore your customer, but their will be problems if you do. Some developers get the axe, while others play politics and manage to worm their way into ‘nearly un-fireable’ positions, others still play the blame game and hope the axe falls elsewhere.
Reading several of the reviews at http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/ArenaNet-Reviews-E255820.htm really shows, at least IMO, that their are problems in ANET, and it will not get better anytime soon

Have patience, once EU/NA/China/Asia are in sync with each another normal service will resume. Find some way to occupy yourself till June.
If so, its fine, but would it be that difficult to say: "hey folks! after the feature patch we will be very busy with the chinese release. we apologise in advance if we are not able to answer in time. This would prevent lots of bad mood players/forum posters. Instead of this we get nothing

To be frank, it is a reason why us in TCG does not run double hambow. 1, it is cheesy. But 2, it is not OP. It is surely counterable. I read a few comments here about “because that class or spec didnt reach finals obviously it needs buff or what not” or “look at final teams obviously WAR needs nerf”.
I bet they could have pracced with only 1 WAR also and probably hit the finals anyways.
People seem to be so harsh at judging a mere 10days since a huge patch that made a lot of impact on both gameplay such as theorycraft.
I can tell you already that I didnt see anybody using the most “OP” things yet on ToL NA. We The Civilized Gentlemen didnt find our complete perfected line-up with builds yet. We already noticed a lot of other things that we didnt even use in the EU ToL just a few days after.
I’m simply stating, stop being so drastic in judgement and basing all of your ideas off of this ToL in NA. Some talk about buffs and nerfs like thats the answer to your issues. Its fun how people just cant stand maybe not being as superior as you they think they are. Simply train with mates and become better instead of shoving the NERF-towel into the winners face.
+ 1 to you ROM, wish there were more people with a clear head about these things.

With the recent patch, Full krait runes with shout heals and 0/10/30/30/0 actually is really nice. You tank and deal same condi dmg as you would with the same 1.5k condi dmg you would get before the patch as a condi warrior. And with the new patch a full condi build is squishy compared to its old with only 100 more condi then what it used to. Mind you for shouts i run dual swords/sword and shield.
Makes you a pain when a group outnumbers you and allies or solo.
My problem with krait runes is the range of the 6th set ability, I was testing on the golems, and it really has a terrible range; about 480 centered around you.

The new meta is much more fun than the previous bunker heavy metas of the past, now it is all about offense. Don’t care if its conditions or power or hybrid, an offensive meta is more fun to play and watch than a tanky meta.

Best advice to people who don’t like/understand any profession (including thief), play them for a while and you will learn how to deal with them in a fight.
Playing a thief, and dueling thieves, has caused me to be pretty good against thieves. Heck, sometimes I can even anticipate where they go while stealthed and get them into down state

Conditions have been a problem for over a year now, ANET clearly does not think there is a problem, aka it is by design.

Deathmatch just does not work with GW 2, everyone uses a high cooldown high power ULT at the start of the match, and whatever side gets the advantage spawn camps the other side.
The other problem, professions are not balanced for TDM, leading to some professions/specs being vastly superior to others.

Does no one remember the meta where bunkers were nearly unkillable?
I disagree with the OP; PvP needed more damage and less bunker, and in this patch we actually got it. Not saying everything is perfect, some runes (cough Balthazar) are a little over the top, but at the end of the day, an offense heavy meta is more fun than a bunker heavy meta.

From a PvP standpoint:
- Runes of Balthazar are too powerful, they make condi engineer OP. Please reduce the bonus Burning duration from 45% to 30% would be a good first pass.
- Runes of Nightmare should NOT provide a 2 second fear, because its more like 3 seconds with all the bonus condition duration, allowing Necros to chain Fear targets. Please revert the Fear duration on this rune set to 1 sec.
- Runes of Strength are stupid OP right now, especially in conjunction with Sigil of Battle. Please reduce the Might bonus duration from 45% to 30%, AND decrease the damage bonus from 7% to 5%.

ANet stopped pushing eSports late 2012, when the mass exodus of PvP players left the company realizing it just was not going to happen. GW 2 has never been an eSport, and will never be an eSport.
2013 and 2014 is all about getting PvE and WvW players into PvP, no one really brings up the dreaded ‘eSports’ discussion anymore.

Bunker Guardians work a lot better with a coordinated team. In a solo Q with random people, you will probably struggle.
I say just keep trying out new things until you find a profession / build that is fun to play and wins a lot

And now you can earn Skill Points via the rank chests and get gold via PvP. You still can, but you have to grind.

What I have noticed in a day (still too early to really tell IMO):
- Runes of Balthazar are a problem with condi Engineer, something needs to be done because condi engineers are over the top.
- Runes of the Nightmare are another problem, with Fear chaining Necros that can 100 – 0 you with a fear chain in under 10 seconds.
- HamBow warriors don’t seem nearly as OP, still powerful, but not OP.
- Thieves who use shortbow are a little weaker, but still good.
- Guardians are still Guardians, nothing really changed.
- Eles seem to be viable again.

People leaving? Almost all of the competitive PvP-ers left in Oct/Nov 2012, with a few stragglers holding on until Late 2013.
Now is not a critical time for PvP, the critical time was 2-3 months after the game released, and that ball has long been dropped.
I say let the casual PvE flood begin on April 15th, sounds like fun to me

This is a step in the right direction for promoting a competitive PvP environment. A pvp lobby megaserver will make it much easier for players to assemble teams.
Now we just need dueling options implemented for build/skirmish testing, and a free-for-all pit within the lobby for a complete sandbox PvP customization/tinkering experience.
For the free-for-all pit, make a jump puzzle that leads up into a floating island in the sky where FFA PvP is enabled. The simple jump puzzle will act as a “respawn timer” for dead players in the free-for-all pit, and it will also keep the lobby nice and tidy without graphical clutter.
Seriously, give this man a cookie. 100% agree.

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided not to add Runes of Perplexity to PvP in the 4/15 Feature Pack. We’ll be monitoring the balance of runes closely, making more tweaks if necessary, and revisiting the possibility of adding Runes of Perplexity to PvP at a later point.

I will keep playing my level 80 Guardian and my level 80 Warrior, because I have a lot of fun playing both.
While I admit Warrior is in a better spot overall balance-wise, saying Guardians are a weaker form of Warrior is just silly, both can do things the other cannot.

Dupes will do nothing more than a single wardrobe unlock. The transmutation charges you’ll get on April 15th will be based on your new PvP rank and not based on items.
What about dupes of gemstore items?
Same deal from what I understand. So yeah, if you bought multiple sets from gem store, your getting shafted
