I’d just rather wait for a lucky drop. Given how these ascended weapons are, I’m actually kinda afraid to find out the crafting costs for Precursors.
That’s why I’m becoming a material broker.
Mind you, a couple of people yesterday on my WvW server got lucky with ascended chests.. But yeah. New system sucks. Playing the TP is the best way to earn gold if you’re in WvW. Max your MF, get selling them greens.
Just wait till season 1. Hopefully they’ll actually remember we exist then.
Plsno.
I would rather they take 10 years to open the gate than to take 1 patch and make a mess of what potential it has.
Destroyer/corrupted weapons > all weapons \o/
The stat increase overall is supposedly something around 13%, but for weapons alone I believe it’s around 5%
You are forgetting about weapon strength.
I assumed stat% was referring explicitly to things like vitality and Toughness and precision, not the 1055-1265 or w/e.
Feel free to add that though.

Side effect = exotics have come WAAAAYY down in price making them extremely accessible.
When the difference in damage is <3-4% to ascended weapon I dont see a problem.
Well to be fair, exotics were never enormously expensive, barring stuff like Ilya and MAYBE the Corrupted/Destroyer weapons >~>;
I would have to say I agree with the notion of upgrade-scalient rewards. There’s 12 upgrades for SMC, for example, right? So for SMC, maybe 8 Ore per upgrade? Considering it takes a while to get to that point. Keeps can be 6 Ore per upgrade. towers can be 4 ore per upgrade, and camps can be 2 Ore per upgrade. Presumably sentries can be random drops. Also, obviously it’s not really referring to ore specifically, but Mats in general.

WvW still not about the 1v1 and is still not made to be a fair game you guys just cant get over your owns egos to see this. If you lose a fight its become of ascended items just keep telling your self that as your stomped in to the ground by the other worlds. Also quit WvW leave your worlds undefended THAT is the right thing to do to be so helpful to your world.
Spoken like a classic PPT gazer. There are a lot of people that play on the WvW maps as an open world PVP environment rather than drooling and charging around behind the dorito spamming 1.
No its spoken like a player who knows the real meat behind WvW. You can play is as an open world PvP but your not going to help your world out by doing so. WvW is about movements as a team. If any thing your coming off as the type of player who “does there own thing” in WvW or you know a “rally bot” player.
Counterpoint.
I do tend to do my own thing in WvW, but you know what I do? I’m the guy trebbing Anzalias and QL for half an hour while the Zerg takes your keep. I’m the guy setting up siege on the corners of the walls. I’m the guy repairing walls, repairing gates, building canons, building cauldrons and ticking the siege, aswell as keeping n eye on the yaks inbound and outbound to SMC, aswell as upgrading outlying towers while the enemy deals with defence.
You can be even more contributive as a solo-operative on WvW, if you know what you’re doing, and effectively help your world too. And you know what? In doing this, I get ALOT less loot than the rest of my team, so this is anything but selfish.
It’s kinda breaks even if you have on-Crit conditions or effects with your Armor. However, if you want raw damage and better burst, go Zerks.
Necromancer with s bow would be intresting to imagine.
Legendaries aren’t visible in kits.
No glow, no footfalls, no effects except grenade barrage if you’re specced 30 points in power with appropriate grenade trait. Why is that even supposed something to be fixed? You put your weapon away and wield another item. Why should it aquire traits of the legendary? Seems reasonable the way it is to me. And before you jump to conclusions: My main is an engineer since the game started.
Because what’s the point of a legendary when you can’t even see any of its effects? Toolkits are key in the engineer’s design. It’s as important as Mesmer clones, or Necromancer minions. But the difference is neither of those prevent you from enjoying the effects of your hard earner legendary. In the case of an engineer, you can’t enjoy the cosmetic beauty of your legendary if your gameplay requires you to use grenades. And in a game revolving around cosmetics and visuals. that seems pretty contradictory to the point of the end game weapons.
Uh.
It’s 20% account permanent MF.
You wanna get that fast, just FYI.
As an engineer main, I can tell you that the analogy of Engineers as such.
Imagine a couple have a child, and they talk about how that child will be different from the rest in the community. They don’t necessarily talk about how the child will be different, but they act in a manner that shows they’re treating this child as though its more special than the others they have.
Finally, when the child is born, they put it in an orphanage and never bother with it again.
Engineers are to ANet what that child was to it’s parents. QQ.
Tried to invite FA for a nice picnic dinner.
Some people are so rude. I swear.
Edit: No, not the dragon-winged FA lady in the picture. Thanks for staying back to bow even when your friends face-rolled me over :p
I was doing the trebbing in the background 8D
Edit: Also, today was a good day to use the Ballista 3 on Ambient creatures for a lulsworthy 2228888 damage per hit.
On that note, Ballistas in general are very fun.
Edit2: I just rememberd, there’s a Mesmer I keep seeing from magnum a everyday. Stalker QQ.

In other F2P games the more gems you buy the more “bonus” gems you get for paying more money. This doesn’t exist in GW2
This is actually quite true. If you look at LoL, for example, they give you 1380 points per $10 card, and the amount increases based on how much you spend ($25 = 3980, $50 = 7580).
I guess is because you can exchange back to gold from gems, so it’d be kinda crappy for people who can’t buy bulk, otherwise every other thing I’ve been to has a $0.01:1 conversation rate for the respective currency, usually giving more unless is hindered by the currency exchange in real life.
Tbh, it sounds more like..
Eh. You can’t change the mechanics. But there needs to be a strict ban method regarding it.
The ending was kinda anticlimactic. .-.
Pretty much as stated above.
The only people who actually NEED to farm this stuff are WvWers. It’s just like buying Car parts. The average joe doesn’t need the latest engine pumps and fuel processing device and lighting technology, unless he’s an enthusiast. But if you work in the industry of car modifications and you work in one of those companies where they have those flashy modded cars you can hire out, you HAVE to have top notch stuff to meet the competition.
Outside of WvW, it’s just nice to have and nothing more, really.
LF1M for CoF path 1 super ultra speed run. Must have Ascended weapons to clear faster with. Ping gear upon join.
Elitists will always be elitists and therefore do not count.
Again, you can still do CoF probably in rares, quite frankly. I would go Exotics just to be safe. But once people start nabbing ascended weapons off the TP, whilst it won’t be majorly a problem in terms of Zerging, small groups and skirmishes.. Yeah.. I’m gonna feel that tonight.
Pretty much as stated above.

I kinda wish rather than just weapons, that they’d release them all.
I mean, I’m a Jewler and honestly, my profession feels redundant because you have ascended accessories available as it stands, so my exotics are redundant in the long term. And I know you can learn multiple disciplines but redoing a crafting branch I find is horrendously boring.
It’s due to the heads of the farming Zergs. Generally, in a Zerg you have the zerglings, who are just cluelessly there trying to make a living, and then you have the hardcore ringleaders. The latter are the ones who are usually butts. The former.. Sometimes they can be nasty, but often it’s out of ignorance, not malice.
When it comes to the champ farming the non event ones from the living story i find “zerg” farming to be full of nice ppl. They give you info if you ask it they get you up if you fall over all a very nice group mind you this is FA i am not sure if the other worlds are just that cold to there players but there not much Anet can do about it. I guess you could switch worlds FA not too bad of a chose!
I’m generally speaking about overflow. In my honest opinion, if you go to your home server, you’ll find little if any toxicity, but if you go to an overflow, it’s about as poisonous as Orrian Water.

The only thing that caught my eye in that image was the Shroom Sylvari.
I know this doesn’t help but this reminds of the time where one of our commanders lead 28 Omegas across EB.
They were given out at the start of the birthday bash today and I have a code in my possession that isn’t working. weeps
Yeah yeah… already contacted support. :P
Update: A player contacted me in game to tell me people were having a similar issue when trying to use the codes from Gamescom on NA accounts. (Mine came from the event in Seattle and my account is NA.) I was in the process of bringing that up with support when they updated my ticket to let me know that my code had actually been used by someone else. Now I’m in the process of trying to get them to make things right since my code was a dud.
Hopefully this was an isolated incident!
I’m having the SAME issue with the code I received last night at the Anniversary Bash. Sucks that it’s not an isolated incident, but I do have to admit that I’m somewhat relieved that I’m not alone in experiencing this issue. :-/
EDIT – I received a response from customer service that it turns out the code I received at the Anniversary Bash was a region-locked EU code and that they will have to apply the serial code manually in order to get it onto my account. Strawberry, let customer service know that there are people at the Seattle event that got EU codes, send them the serial number that you received at the event, and tell them what account you want it applied to and they should be able to help (I found it helpful to include a link to your post indicating others are having the problem, feel free to provide them a link to my post).
I’m a few steps ahead of ya!
I posted several times in this thread earlier today: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mr-Sparkles-code-doesn-t-work/
I also updated my ticket when I stumbled across it to let them know that others were also getting an error when trying to redeem their codes. They still refuse to help me since they are convinced my code has already been used.
I’m noticing that I seem to be the only one getting this response, so maybe my code really was activated by someone else or support made a mistake and my ticket has a scarlet letter on it as a result? Either way, it wasn’t used by me or my boyfriend. As far as we know, the only people that had access to that particular code were the two of us and Anet staff. I can say with 100% certainty that we didn’t activate it… so who did? :/
I’ll probably try to get Gaile’s attention on Tuesday if support keeps telling me there isn’t anything they can do. Assuming they are correct, that means someone essentially stole my miniature. This is beyond frustrating and hearing that there isn’t anything that can be done is disheartening.
QQ Pink T3 Looks so good.
This reminds me of the fights in Asura’s Wrath.
The reward clearly isn’t universally bad. Some are enjoying it.
When I open my eyes, I see a lvl 20 scroll, a birthday booster, and a Queen Jennah mini. The extra minis and scrolls aren’t of any use to me, but the boosters can be. Thus, I see a positive outcome. A different mini for each gift like in GW1 would have certainly been more interesting. However, I see no reason to become more than momentarily unimpressed and certainly no reason to become angry.
snip
I agree with you and everyone else that there were valuable gifts in the birthday present. I’m not angry at ArenaNet, I just think it was kinda cheap and easy to give out identical minis instead of keeping the mystery of random chance. And yes, I know a lot of people are screaming about rng, I’m not one of them. I don’t seem to do very well, but I don’t mind it (maybe because I played D&D).
So yeah, I’m just basically providing feedback to ArenaNet that I would’ve preferred a random mini to 8 identical ones. ArenaNet has the choice to do whatever they want with that feedback, but it’s definitely not a sense of ‘entitlement’.
Yes, there was RNG with the original birthday gifts…but at least it wasn’t “you’re stuck with what you get RNG”. I think that’s what most people (at least myself) dislike about the RNG in this game…most of the RNG stuff is account/character bound.
The nice thing about GW1 birthday gifts was there was a variety of minis from each yearly birthday gift, and if you didn’t like it, wanted more, or didn’t get the one you want, you could buy/sell the minis to other players. Pretty much made everyone happy because there was RNG and it was fun, but for those who didn’t like RNG had the option to just buy the one they want.
Except that in Guild Wars 1, birthday were the main way to get minis…and bring them into the world. That’s simply not true here. So if the entire situation has changed, why would you still expect the same present?
Counter-Argument.
Why not? Why shouldn’t they give 1 random mini from the previous/new batch each year to players as a birthday gift?
Consider this; after five character slots, you pay 800 gems for a new one. One Mini-Set-Cage-Thingy costs 300 gems. At the very least, assuming gems are profitable on their part (which they’re not but w/e) they’re still making a profit of 500 gems. And it doesn’t cost them anything to make more, all they need to do is change “750 ____ Minipets in the game” to “751 ____ Minipets in the game”.
Sure, the entire situation has changed, but not in a way that would make it problematic for them to continue the system. It barely scratches them by doing this. Most importantly, they don’t really loose cash for doing so.
(edited by Moderator)
10% Crit Damage would principally scale as 10% damage considering you’d be critting every time, yes. But below 100% it’d be multiplier based.
I would prefer them to just have little interactive quotes, like if a Mini Rytlock is near a Mini Caithe, he’d call her a Coniving Vegetable.
I’ve kinda got a hunch that they kinda decided to do an uninformed experiment to see how the player base would feel about having this method of gifting.. I hope.
But yeah. I’m over it now, OP. ANet used to be cool. And to those who say, “Oh, be grateful blah blah blah” I’m sorry but when someone actually goes down in standard when they were higher up before, it is hard for an individual to be grateful if the quality has dropped.
It’s easy to say “Be Grateful” but the reality is, ANet fixed something that was anything but broken, and it is probably one of their best things.
Server: TC
WvW: I would say we’re not rapidly getting bigger, but the number of people on the server maybe slightly increasing. There’s quite a few regulars, sure, but I do see new and old people all the time.
PVE: I don’t really think so. Everyone seems largely the same, however this could also be because majority of people don’t talk, and not everyone is always at the same place. Also, invasions.
Um. No.
When you win a trophy for something, does that make you automatically better at something else? Of course not. Minis are collectibles. You don’t get more power because your Terracota cups are being used instead of your China Cups. And not everyone is going to have the same minis at all times. Also, people who don’t care about their Minis won’t be able to benefit from it.
I would however like to see Mini-Interactions, like For example, A mini Logan threatening a Mini Watchknight, or something like that.
I can’t comment on predator, but I do recall seeing in the Engineer forums that an Anet Employee said they were going to modify legendaries for Engineer Kit functionality. I imagine it’ll be like, for example, if you were wielding sunrise, the grenades would have the shroudy thing on toss, or something like that. But it could be more, or less.
I actually blame the lack of healing/tanking for the zergy gameplay that we currently have.
No. Zerging is not caused by that. Zerging is caused by the fact that as long as you land 2 hits on the target, you will be able to loot them (in most cases).
You don’t get Zerging in WoW or anything because only one person ever gets the loot, so it’s pointless for more than one person to jump on a single target unless you’re really doing it just for the Luls.
This game has the worst end game of gaming history………..
Because One aspect of the game covers the rest.
Being Australian i gave up getting this stuff many years ago.
.
i’m very happy of this patch. Finally something that can be crafted and can be as cool as a precursor. I think ppl complaining here have a pair of Dusk at the TP
btw: MMO needs to change constantly. when a wow expansion came out, you just throw away ur current gear.
I find fun in getting better equips, much more then showing the same old ones from 2012 ’till the end of times.
And i never bothered crafting before these patch news!Except getting this gear takes a couple of things called time and effort. And I doubt anyone liked the fact that as soon as Cata came out, their ICC25 Heroic Gear was 110% obselete compared to Cata Green Quest gear, and vice versa. I’m using the Cata example because it’s the one I recall most clearly, but Im guessing you get my point.
How would you feel if you spent a month farming for a pair of Ilyas, a Vision of the Mists, and a full set of Arah Explorable armor? Ascended Gear says “Hi, nice job wasting your time, Come find me m8” and gives you the middle finger and walks away. That’s what people are irritated by. And whilst I don’t recall if Anet intended to make the game this way, I can say I’ve heard numerous people say that they joined gw2 under the impression that they would be free of the shackles of a vertical progression.
but the thing is, those weapons you mentioned are still viable. i mean, player’s have been doing just fine without them. the main thing people tend to forget is that ascended weapons were made for fractals. that’s the only place where it would be imperative to have them.
It’s as viable as human psychology allows it to be, i.e; It’s not. Are the stats good? Reasonably, yes. However look from a realistic perspective.
I drive _______ car from 2005. It’s efficient, it works, and there’s been new models, yes, but the car is perfectly functional. However, many people in this situation don’t care. The car works, yes. But they want a Bently. Then want a Hummer. They want an Audi. Now you can go and tell me which car beats which and which brand sucks and whatever, I honestly give no effs. But guess what. You, me, and everyone else, we’re still going to go for the next tier of quality, why? Because aspiration. Noone likes to be on the lower level. Everyone wants to be at the top. It’s human nature. Its now empires rise and others fall. Dynasties and ruling families change because different groups want control of the region, people or resources.
So yes, is viable. But ANet knows that it has nothing to do with viability. It’s another carrot.
(edited by Seven Star Stalker.1740)
It’s basically about the same as an Exotic geared player having an extra item, +/-
Pokemon in Guild Wars 2 Confirmed!
^^^ what I thought of when seeing the title.

Because Anet wants to show just how much they hate WvW.
I mean, really. Ascended affects NOTHING else. Unless they’ve got some sort of Ascended-mode dungeons or something. But Im not really looking forward to whatever may come with that.
Temporary skins.. .-.
+1 For being well written if nothing else.

There’s no such thing as Rune of the Scavenger. You’re welcome.
I think..
It’s either “Ilse of Janthir” or “SoR” that are described as unnofficial oceanic servers by the guys who work at EB games here who play gw2. Might wanna check for more opinions though.
Well, there’s that then. :v
Could we get a response on whether it’s in the works to give professions access to more current weapons?
They said that they are working on that, iirc.
Source? Though I doubt you do have one that explicitly says Anet will make more weapons available to all classes.
I hope not. I made my guardian thinking of it as a cleric.
Giving the cleric rifkitten ws, daggers and stuff like that would simply destroy the lore.Well, if they do, just don’t use them! Sorry to be blunt.
I want a longbow on my guardian as well.
I can see it too! The Spirit archer! Or holy archer, like Uryuu from Bleach (oh gosh, havn’t watched that series in YEARS). Or whatever archer. Flexibility in gameplay and theme, that’s what’s important!
Whilst I don’t have the source, I myself have actually heard aswell that they intend to broaden weapon variety on different classes.
