I noticed this in the ‘Proto-Mater-Chain’ ascended necklace, and thought this was really neat. With higher and named items, can we have lore for them? It’d make it easier for people to experience snippets of lore without forcing them to put too much effort in, and it’d just be aesthetically intresting, I mean who wouldn’t want to know the origins of Sunrise, who was The Predator’s original designer, the background of The Flameseeker Prophecies, and where the Ossan family got their ring from.

ArenaNet please, you’ve already got it on some items, put this in your game on a larger basis. It’s those little things that count.

To be honest I was thinking of because Scarlet tends to mess with technology, is a zone invasion fails, the waypoints for that zone become disabled. That’d be OP, though.

In any case, ill simplify it either way. The problem is this; ANet gave us gifts which you’re right, are free, but are largely useless. 1 Queen Jenna, okay. But anymore than one becomes pointless, and ANet made sure to add an insult on it. How? You can’t even forge them into something else. So all we can do is delete it or keep it. I’m sorry, but that’s kind of low that we can’t recycle something we don’t like.

The booster isn’t too bad, that’s probably the most useful thing in the pack.

The level booster however, is extremely binary. You either can use it, or it’s ABSOLUTELY USELESS. At this point, you have this sort of situation: Most players, will have characters beyond 20. So they can’t use it. Those who won’t, either made their characters recently – and therefore can use it, though they are far and few between if they were playing for a year so far – and the other group are new players, however if they’re new.. Yeah.. I don’t think they’re getting their birthday in the next few days for obvious reasons.

So as you can see, two out of the three portions of the gift suck. More than one Queen Jenna is useless, and the level boosters are very binary in the extent of their use. Whilst this may sound a little harsh, A-Net pulled something really sloppy, and if this was their absolute best, than they clearly have huge issues in the way of resourcing their productions, which isn’t even remotely a good thing.

Even the _000 achievement point chests are more exciting than the birthday gift box, and quite frankly, if something you get on average once every month or two is more exciting and rewarding than something you get once a year, that’s pretty dam bad.

Whilst alot of what Potato-San says is quite intresting.. Keep in mind that 99% of what he says is self-admitted speculation.

Also, I don’t think that video has much association, as that one was more focused on the connection between the gods and the dragons, with a lesser focus on the Eternal alchemy and the pale tree (whilst both are mentioned).

Edit; I just rewatched it..not be honest, Kersh’s (presumably last words) do seem pretty reminiscent of Scarlet’s. might be a connection? Might not be. I can honestly bet that the next video Potato-San makes will have reference to the one you posted, OP.

Despite Gandarel’s claim, there are many refrences to GW1 characters in-game, especially heroes and henchies. But like BuddhaKeks said, this is Tyria (continent), so almost all of those references have been about Tyrians (again, continent). You hear a lot about Pyre, Jora, and Gwen, and their legacies; one of the Separatist camps is a nod to Kieran, as is Logan’s heritage; Vekk and Livia both get small references throughout the game; and Ogden and Anton both appear in-game. When/if we reach Elona, I would expect similar nods to the Nightfall heroes.

In the meantime, though, if I can slip you a red herring… there’s a charr called Razah in the Black Citadel.

I would like to mention something;

Dragons tend to corrupt the magic they interact with. An example of this, is Jormag corrupting Ice. Kalk corrupting Air and Earth Elementals, and so on and so forth. So Death, in a way, is also an element. And that’s why Zhaitan’s necromancy is different from Traherne’s, for example. In fact, you can actually draw the parrallel perfectly here, because Traherne is actually a Necromancer and a powerful one at that, yet he can still control his own minions when he needs to.

I think you could probably expand on that border idea. Getting all the Champion titles in PvP could give the gold Champion border, for example.

Although I don’t do much PvP, but I like this idea. However, it will conflict with the Legendary unless it is either restricted to the Mists, or you could change frames like you change titles.

I agree with what you said, however, if you look at your login screen, you are already considered a legendary equipped character (Gold Chest), whether you hold 1 or 10 legendaries. This should reflect in game with something, thus, my suggestion. You see, the world completion on your login screen can be shown near your character’s name in game. Why the legendary, which takes a lot more than world completion, isn’t reflected in such a way?

If you go to DR, you’ll notice something really odd.

Your queen just got attacked and her party assaulted.. AND NOONE SEEMS TO NOTICE. AT ALL. That dude is still arguing about how Caudecus would be better than Queen Jenna with some city girl. That drunk guy in Salma district is still yabbering on about how an Asura called him a Bookah and thought she was hetting on him. NONE OF THE CITIZENS SEEM TO CARE OR NOTICE THAT THEIR CITY WAS JUST ATTACKED.

And really, this seems extremely unrealistic in ANY society. Yes, it’s a game. But even in a game you have realistic things. Why is there Noone gossiping about how a Sylvari managed to infiltrate the city. Why is Noone talking about Aetherblades sightings at the queen’s pavilion. These are all very normal things to happen when someone’s city is attacked. And these would make the living story much more believable, because it seems absurd that their is little if any reaction to this. I know this year was for establishing things, but next year, please add these kinds of polishing effects to your game. Because if you just add something like this, the LS would be much more impacting on the world.

Don’t forget to add a few things about how the event works.

The “First Wave of Scarlet’s minions”, “Second Wave of Scarlet’s Minions” and “Third Wave of Scarlet’s minions” progress bars counts Twisted Watchworks and Steam creatures mobs, not events. Aetherblade and Molten Alliance don’t progress this bar. So when a portal closes, and there is still mobs, kill the mobs as that still contributes to the meta event.

• A subnote to that, Twisted horrors reform into veterans when 2 are damaged. Veteran Twisted Horrors reform into Lieutenant Twisted Nightmares (silvers). You can progress the portal event by ignoring the reformed creatures, as they don’t count towards the portal event. I’m unsure whether they count to the Meta progress bar though.

Steam Creature events are alot easier to do than Twisted Watchworks.

During the Molten Alliance phase, killing Tunneling devices is the fastest, as you only need to kill the device. You can actually do this solo if you’re good enough at avoiding the Molten Alliance mobs.

During the Aetherblade Phase, the progress bar counts Aetherblade captains killing (about 10-20 I think)

Another note that I sometimes do as well is, if you feel people are farming the Aetherblades, try to do Steam Portal or Twisted Watchwork Portal events instead. Those are always needed, and it’s more likely people will farm the Aetherblade captains.

It would, except majority of players loathe underwater combat. And really, it does suck and feel kinda clunky and awkward.

This would be healthy for a good story. It really would. They can easily implement it the way they implemented the whole Kurzick-Luxon fiasco.

But I’m quite sure there’s a bunch of reasons against it, and it might be an issue with something like living story, for example. Imagine if flame and frost was done with this sort of situation?

There were no spawns. At all.

I had a couple of bugged portals but otherwise it was perfectly fine. Keep in mind, if you join further than 10 minutes into the event, it won’t let you into a qualified Overflow.

Scarlet was a character with brilliant conception.. And pretty bad excecution. It feels like they made a FemJoker/Harley Quinn in the game, but her story makes her look somewhat descent and gives her potential as a villain.

I think if they had more effort in her, great. But otherwise the race is fine and I personally think your statement is a little extreme, but that’s just me. Look at Faolain for example. She’s a descently balanced character. Traherne didn’t end well so we won’t go into his details, but Malyk was an intresting twist. I like them |:

Argument 4: You’re being entitled for wanting access to minis

There’s a difference between feeling entitled to getting everything with no effort and feeling entitled to have an equal opportunity to access content. Is it really unreasonable to say “Everything that is in this game as a reward, I would like to be able to earn in-game”?

And as for mini collectors being entitled, think about everything that has caused an uproar in this game. Think about all the things people complain about. If there’s ever been something you hated about reward acquisition in this game, chances are mini collectors have done it or that it is some aspect of the creation/acquisition of minis.

• Mystic Forge: Ever try to get an upgrade/precursor out of the Mystic Forge? That’s pretty much the main way to get exotic minis. And while the percent chance to get a precursor per forge is less, the cost of each forge is much higher for minis. At current prices, it’s about 40gold to forge 4 rare minis to try to get an exotic. Let’s assume you get lucky and get an upgrade every 5 tries. There are 7 exotic minis that can be obtained, and assuming you get super lucky and never get duplicates, that’s an average of 35 tries * 40 gold per try or 1400 gold to get all the exotic minis. And that’s if you’re super lucky.

• Buying off the Trading Post: So don’t try your luck Mystic Forging. Buy all your minis off the TP. Again, the prices are comparable to buying a precursor. At this point, a mini collector who used buy orders to buy all the minis would probably need to spend almost 1,000 gold getting the Set minis alone, much less the special edition minis.

• Account-bound RNG gem box gambling: Remember how much people hated the Fused weapon tickets and the like? Mini collectors had to put up with that too for Foostivoo. During Wintersday, mini collectors had to get six minis out of the gem store gamble boxes, all of which were account bound, and they also had to hope that there were 3 unique minis in those 6 to complete the Masterwork set too.

• Beat extremely difficult solo content. Liadri the Concealing Dark. Every single mini collector with a full collection had to beat her. Still want to call us lazy?

• Keep up with limited sales and living story meta achievements. Going to be out of town for work for a month? Better hope it’s not a month where there’s a limited time mini on sale. Better hope it’s not a month where the mini is the meta achievement. Mini collectors had limited time account bound minis to obtain in October, December, April, May, June, July, and August.

• Time gating. Do you hate grinding guild missions or dailies in order to get ascended gear? Not only do mini collectors have to do that, they have to sacrifice getting ascended gear and the corresponding stats in order to finish off their collection. Well, it’s not really a “sacrifice” since I think most mini collectors consider it a worthwhile tradeoff, but that’s what we have to do.

And on top of all that, we get very little from our minis. The collection as a whole cannot be shown off like a legendary. The title can be bought and sold or borrowed from friends. Minis go away if you switch zones or die. A number of minis also go away when you enter water. Minis barely keep up with you when you run. You have to buy an invisible bag to keep them from depositing. And despite all of this, mini collectors still like them. We collect them because we love the minis for being minis, not for any utility we get from them.

So next time you call us entitled, think about that. Someone who wants a full collection of minis has to go through just about every weird reward mechanism the game has to offer. We’ve sunk money into the game. We’ve sunk time into minis that cannot be bought. We’ve beaten difficult content that less than 10% of the player base is supposed to beat. And we’ve done it for something that gets us virtually no recognition and is dismissed by most of the player base. We don’t do it to show off—we do it because we are passionate about it.

TL;DR: All we’re asking is that in-game rewards be obtainable by playing the game. We don’t want it for free. We’re happy to buy it off the gem store or earn it in game while people who go to cons get it for free. I think we’ve more than proven that. We just want a chance to get it.

You should have included issues like Location – People might not be able to attend cons or acquire materials with Mini-codes i.e. magazines. People who live in countries without gem cards or bad currency exchange have a much harder time for gem acquisition aswell. It’s not as bad for me in Australia (even though we still have no gem cards) but say you go somewhere like Malaysia, South Africa, or even South America, the currency rates are pretty horrid seeing as Gems go by the USD.

I think she might be more like Malyk than a soundless. Se doesn’t seem to have had a dream, so far as we know, but that’s likely a “She had a dream but gives no kittens about its relevance and therefore doesn’t follow it” than outright not having one.

She also had that dream in the Asura test tube, in which she spoke to the mother tree, so there’s also that.

I have the three Twisted pets (Mender, horro and Reaver) and I noticed the horror doesn’t seem to have many overly intresting animations or effects compared to it’s counterparts. Could you make this a bit more balanced? Considering it’s supposed to be a higher tier of quality >_>;

She feels like a character that A-Net was gonna put lots of effort in.. And then, when this patch came out they were like, ‘Ehkittenit.’

To be fair, it’s quite possible that we might see order movement in the next patch involving Scarlet (whenever that will be).

I can see what you mean though, OP. it seems unlikely that not a single person would follow up on her, and really we haven’t seen any Order involvement since F/F, which is odd because you’d think the order would be more focused on hyper advanced technopirates than your cutjaws or corvington n00brates.

I hope they have something like the did for MKthorne on halloween when they have a possible future update (Preferably after halloween. I’d like a break from her storyline) where we actually investigate her story in the game.

If you don’t follow the Zerg and use your mind, no they don’t. If you stick to the Zerg, you’re just gonna end up as mindless as they are.

Basically. Do your own thing and you’ll feel like you’re actually doing something. For example, if I see people already hitting a portal, ill switch on the swiftness and get to the next least populated one.

Screw that, dual shield engineers are the best!

They should have this ability where they can create a reflective shield indefinitely however cannot attack for it’s duration. That’s be cool. Force field generator stance OP.

I’d say I agree with the consensus that barring the temples, it’d become a general port city.

Keep in mind though, that it’d be a long time before that happens anyway because you have Risen everywhere, and Zhaitan’s influence is still slowly fading from the land. Nothing’s gonna happen if you can’t clean the area for further development.

I would think they would release the true ‘dragon armors’ as we kill the respective dragons. You can access the ‘Orrian armor’ which is based on zhaitan already. It is likely that if they are to continue putting in dragon themed armor it will coincide with the storyline.

Counterpoint to that is we have destroyer weapons and corrupted (icebrood) weapons and yet we’ve yet to engage Primordus or Jormag. But I get your point. It’d make more sense in that regard.

And I noticed the Arah Armor is mostly themed around Zhaitan, yes. Which is why I’m hoping for more – Afterall, we have 6 dragons listed in lore, at least 6 we need to kill anyway. Hopefully they’ll be our legendary armors, too, perhaps.

It’s especially irritating because we only get queen Jenna Minis for our birthdays, nothing else. So whilst its probably not that big an issue, with all the annoying, irritating Dcap ANet has been pulling, this is kinda like adding more flavor to the flames.
