Considering the state of Fused and Jade weapons currently, take it with a grain of salt that it’s gonna be permanent.
To start off, I’d like to say that I really do appreciate this update. Zones felt like an awesome battlefield and I enjoyed the story cutscenes. A lot of things were done well and I do feel that some parts of the living story have improved over time.
However there are also a lot of problems that this update has brought. My main problem is the issue of zerging champions during invaSions and ignoring the entire goal of the event. While participating in map chat, I was disappointed to see how the community reacted to calls to actually doing the event. Instead, people were opening telling people to just ignore the event and farm. It has really brought out what is to me the worst of the community in this game.
As this is the internet, it is only natural that there are hordes of people that aim only to zerg and get the most profit out of an event rather than playing it how it was intended. This means that the only solution is to develop content in a way that discourages or prevents such behavior. The invasions and champion loots together, while both good ideas, combine to make farming zergfests. As someone who wants to actually play the game and finish events, I feel that such zergfarming behavior being at the core of a huge game update is a step backwards for this game.
While I doubt that much will change as devs are already working on the next living story release, I hope that future releases will find ways to prevent and avoid the behavior that is occurring right now.
You seem to be implying that zerging isn’t playing the game as intended. I disagree given that that the last 3-4 updates have significantly increased the benefit of zerging. If they didn’t like zerging they would introduce updates that discourage it.
Hmm. Yeah, I do see your point.
In any case, I still do stand by my desire to have less zerging. Perhaps Anet does want zerging mechanics, and I don’t want to say that all zerging is bad since I do it at times too when I feel like just following a group, like in WvW. But what I don’t want to see is it becoming the main focus and center of content and gameplay as it has been in the last two releases.
And yes, I’m happy they’ve done something to solve the champion farming problem
False. This game punishes the Zerging, but in a VERY subtle way that requires a long explanation.
Basically, the more people you have, the more enemies, and difficult enemies, spawn. Correct? But enemies will always have a three second delay on spawn. This means that you can bring all the dps and Zerking gear in the game, but you will always loose three seconds BY DEFAULT before you can clear the wave.
Now, if you factor that in with Mob Numbers, Mob Strength and levels, and mob types, you will eventually notice that even though it’s by subtle and small amounts, you have to increasingly spend more time at a single mob. This is at the VERY MINIMUM four and a half minutes. Something hardly anyone will notice. But if you include killing the mobs, WPing from place to place, running from place to place, dying and downing damage reductions and more, this game DOES punish inefficiency, but not in an obvious way. The average person won’t realise that’s what happens to all the time but it does actually effect the game greatly. You have 45 minutes. You can’t afford to loose 10-15 minutes. And many many people do without noticing the subtle time-sinks.
She’s pretty much the ultimate troll right now.
|: Anet wat is this crap.
Edit: What they should do is Make it free for attendees via a code they use when they come over, and also include it in the general bundle. That would make it fair.
As I remember from Guild Wars 1 that same title armor was for all type (light, medium, heavy). In guild Wars 2 is different? Why? Maybe they decided in Guild Wars 2 to make more profits from player mistakes and new players confusions. Just I let you know one thing, if they would be nice with player so they will do everything that players get less confusions. I spend money and I feel like I was ripped by my confusion and I didn’t get description when I was choosing reward.
Guildwars 1 =/= Guildwars 2.
That’s like saying OH, THIS JEEP LOOKS SIMILAR TO THIS HUMMER OH NO THEYRE DIFFERENT AND I CAN’T DRIVE THE HUMMER BECAUSE I CAN’T FOR W/E REASON AND I BOUGHT IT WITHOUT ASKING ABOUT THE SPECS. It wouldn’t work in real life. Ignorance isn’t an excuse.
This was super neat. A-Net, y u take away the good things?! QQ.
Um. If you’re new, then I can understand, but if you aren’t, you’re pretty lazy because on the BLTC, it’s been written there since day 1. Even still, perhaps you should research your purchase before hand in general?
Pit Fighter’s.
Message body text blah blah blah.
MINI TRAEHERNE.
And everytime you enter combat, “This won’t end well”.
To be truly honest.
I’d rather get that than a mini-queen jenna. Much less five of her.
General Kitten Kicking.
This is probably going to come with Legendary armor, but one thing I miss in WoW was a certain armor effect from BC.
If you remember Voidheart, when you had all the pieces, you’d have a chaos rift with lightning behind the character begin to appear. it was purely aesthetic though, but it looked brilliant.
I want them to bring that sort of stuff to GW2, if they can.
For those of you having trouble figuring the issue, I’ll simplify it.
People put effort behind getting skins that are supposedly available for a ‘short time’. It feels cheap and underhanded when they’re available after that short time has passed. The Uniqueness is a bonus to that, sure, but ultimately noone likes putting in work and then finding out they could have gotten it later on for half the effort and cost (cost of effort, time, gold, gems accumulatively, seeing as those are the commidities people put towards getting w/e they want.
It’s just like how Anet pulled the sellable-voting token crap last time. Sure, it was kinda to be expected, but A-Net didn’t really make it expectable, and they seemed 100% useless if you didn’t vote, so easily 75% of the player base did expend them all in voting whilst the other 25% by a flukery and luck got the rest for sale because Anet decided to pull something that was easily unnecessary. It just looks bad, and makes Anet somewhat untrustworthy as a company.
How are you able to do this in overflow? Every time we entered an invasion zone in overflow we get the message that we can’t do the invasion there.
That’s a bit of an issue with all the servers and crap. The only thing I’ve found for that is you either keep in your overflow till the event is over, if it is taking place, or you go back to a town and do something else till the next one starts. Its an issue that has yet to be dealt with unfortunately :<
Might be a good idea to add this info about overflows. It should also be noted that if you are in an overflow and toward the end you suddenly see that message permitting you to travel to the main instance, DONT! This means the main instance just finished the event and you will lose out on the final reward if you travel.
Added it :B
They serve Scarlet.
That’s it really, as far as we know. AD to be honest we don’t really need another dimension to them. Though being pirates I imagine they’d just go back to doing their own thing after Scarlet gets put out of commission.
7. IT’S NOT OVER TILL ITS OVER. I’ve had lots of people give up because they’re not finishing fast enough. DO NOT. I was in a fight where we literally killed Scarlet at 00:08 on the timer. If you haven’t beaten her at that timing, no matter how bad things look, don’t give up. Because if you put your back into it, you can pull it off.
This is SO TRUE.
I once finished killing Scarlet so late that the event gave the message of “failure”, but we all got the rewards for completing it and the achievements. She literally was defeated on the last second.
Exactly. Hopefully people will take note of these things and it will make them more successful \o/
We’ve got destroyer and corrupted weapons (Icebrood weapons in that sense), and if you subscribe to the whole Nightmare = Jungle dragon theory, we have Jungle weapons too. However we’ve got no armors based on dragon designs. The closest I see is theMagma Armor from the achievement chests, however that still doesn’t quite cut it, and we have no content based on Kalkatorick in the way of Armor or weapons, nor of the DSD (however he’s had no real interaction beyond shoving the Karka out of the depths so that’s not really an issue).
Could we see this changed? I’d love to see Armor themed around the dragons, with burning spikes, or frozen horns on the helmet. Maybe a branded pauldron with lightning buzzing above it? And does a gone else like the idea? Or have any suggestions to add on?

Most player dislike limited time items. However, offering something for a limited time only increases the likelihood that people will buy it. It reinforces tendencies towards impulse purchases.
Basically, like the RNG boxes, its another psychological trick to get us to spend more money.
I wouldn’t necessarily say its a trick. With RNG, keep in mind that you do t really k ow if you’ll win. But if you have a limited item, which you know you’re going to receive, even if its absolute garbage in terms of how it looks, or the amount it sells for, you know you got it, and more importantly, if you like it, it makes no difference, and if you didn’t, then you should sell it. Assuming you can sell it of course.
Inb4 I feel 6 feet tall.
I’ve done the invasion at least 15 times now in differing zones, and I thought it’d be nice to give out some tips on succeeding because I myself have had failures and successes all around. So, first, I want to drop some key hinderances you might find;
1. Bugs. There are bugs here and there in this event. Keep that in mind, and if you find them, link the nearest waypoint or PoI to the chat before warping out.
2. Terrain. Many a time I’ve seen people assume that an area is bugged simply because the terrain may be cliffy, or the portal may be above the way point’s level. Make sure you check if you’re in a cave before you call it a bug because the event may in fact be perfectly functional but it’s just on the roof of the area.
3. Difficulty scaling. People are forgetting this one and it’s extremely important. THE MORE PEOPLE YOU HAVE, THE HARDER IT GETS. In my experience, the most efficient groups are 3-7. Any less, you’re too low. Any more, it becomes inefficient. Essentially, this event punishes zerging and doing so only makes the event more difficult. There are also some spawns however that you can solo to some degree till the other players come along so focus on those aswell if you’re alone for maximum efficiency.
4. Farmers. You still have this issue, and people will particularly go for the Aetherblades because they’ll spawn a ton of champions. Ignore these groups and continue on, otherwise even if you’re trying to do the right thing, you’re going to end up a deadweight.
5. Zone events and mobs. Avoid these if they don’t work to your advantage. For example. In FGS, there’s an event where Dredge are preventing a bridge, the dredge will however attack ABs and Watchwork/steam beasts that spawn. Try to get them to aggro eachother, because a stray dredge bullet may be the shot that brings you out of a downed state. At the same time however, ignore thins like Claw of Jormag, Shatterer, Tequatl and the like.
6. Fake Scarlet. If you’re not aware, anytime Scarlet spawns before the final wave has been destroyed is a fake. She will attack and kill you (or at least try) however, but you won’t be able to kill her. So focus on the task and get out of there once yore done.
EDIT; 8. Overflow. Due to the way the event runs, the overflow tends to pull funny tricks now and then. If you get disconnected for example, you may not be able to rejoin the overflow where I started the event and it may jam you out, causing you to miss an invasion. In that event, you should try to join a friend/guildy party that may be in that overflow. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to wait to the end of the event and get into the next one. It’s a highly irritating system but.. It’s there. So the only thing to do is to work around it seeing as there’s no real definitive solution at this point. In addition to that, if you get an oppurtunity to renter your home-realm from the overflow, DO NOT. It will disrupt the event you are already in and cut you off from the rewards of the meta event’s completion, and you won’t be able to return to it without your friends or access to someone else’s party who may have been in that overflow to begin with.
Now admittedly, it’s harder to coordinate things in overflow, but I feel that alot of people don’t see these things and really they can make or break it. If I’m being a captain obvious, sorry >>; but I hope that I’ve helped out people by giving some tips and advice to those intrested. Have a nice day and good luck!
(edited by Seven Star Stalker.1740)
Well. There’s the obvious “Endless game mob mechanics” factor that you have to keep in mind.
But bear in mind, it wouldn’t be an invasion if there weren’t many. And whilst there would probably be questioning and mutiny and punishment and what have you, they obviously wouldn’t show it outright otherwise it’d probably be too complex to handle in some regard.
I’d say that the amount of ABs there are from a REALISTIC standpoint are the amount you kill per invasion. And becauze you kill so many, naturally Treeface backs off because her forces are severely reduced.
Actually, I sympathise. We’ve had a fair share of tards who go after AB champions after the camps are done, including commanders.
In home realms its not as bad, but in overflows it happens ALOT.
I hope you realise that in the last 2000 years 75% of the crap people call ‘innovative’ or ‘new’ is a copy of something else, OP.
I don’t know about the Karma, but I will agree that I can’t find my Watchknight in my collectibles either, oddly.
What I want A-net to do is to stick to their guns.
Why make things rare or limited if you’re just going to pull something that revokes the limited nature soon after? :/ That’s what Im finding annoys people most. ANet shouldn’t expect ANY respect from their players if they can’t put any weight on their own convictions.
(edited by Seven Star Stalker.1740)
I can speak for TC. Apparently it’s bugged. But for the others, can’t help you I’m afraid ol’ chap.
If Zhaitan was here today, he’d cry over how much more attention Scarlet gets than him QQ
Had we all known that a few months later we could pick them up for 20 – 40g, I’m sure most of us wouldn’t have put in so much effort.
Something to consider, if the weapon skins wouldn’t have been marketed as exclusive (account bound), people would have farmed fo dragon coffers less, and fewer leftover weapon skins would be on the market now, so they wouldn’t necessarily be so cheap now.
Yeah, thinking that you have only one shot at getting a specific skin and overspending just to find out later that the rules were changed can suck. But players asked for the weapon tickets or skins to be tradable and got their way, and all things considered I’m happy with the change. It just came too late, it should have been implemented this way in the first place.
This is a horrible reason. If you look at LoL, every week you have at least one thread asking for ancient champion skins from 09 to be released and they STILL have a strict policy to not release them.
In fact, if A-Net is listening to the player base in this regard, that’s a sign of desperation, and really that’s not a good sign by ANY measure. It’s just as if they released the collector’s edition (physical) right now at half price. It defeats the prestige of it.
(edited by Seven Star Stalker.1740)
This is.. The stupidest, stupidest, STUPIDEST thing I’ve ever seen. It just happened to me, too. :/ A-Net please, this is really underwhelming given all the effort you’ve put in..
Meanwhile in Australia, land of no Gem Cards QQ.
As far as I could see, Zhaitan is indeed the upper part of a dragon, with the lower half of his body replaced with tails (almost like entrails hanging behind his torso).
And once we return to Orr in the living story, we’ll be getting a new meta boss, Zhaitan’s missing lower body from the dungeon:
The kitten of Zhaitan.
This won’t end well.
It’s like comparing rock/paper/sisscors. They’re all at the same tier but neither of the, are necessarily 100% inferior to the other.
Try logging in and out. If that fails, send in a ticket and see if the devs can salvage something for you.
I think anet still needs to explain why Cantha is the dragon nation while the dragons are awakening in Tyria. How can Kuunavang be there without being tied to the ED while everything else in Tyria is.
We think there are six dragons from Tyrian perspective (six zones in crucible of eternity and such.) So more dragons are possible. I’ve read here that people thought there could be a seventh dragon based on the sky and the stars, something like the celestial dragon from Cantha. But that’s probably just player speculation.
I don’t think Canta is the dragon empire based on actual dragons. It’s rather like Lion’s Arch, where there’s no lion arround.
There’s that, but keep in mind, Canthan culture does actually have alot of respect for dragons, as per Kunavaang herself, Lunar Festival Year of the Dragon, and a few others.
It’s not so much as Aesthetic in Canthan society as lions are in Krytan society.
There’s like.. Literally no point in going to TCCS right now unless you’re a zergling, or you want your daily Olrialchum/Sapling nodes.

Don’t worry, this hero will deal with the evil General Andarzbad at once! Some help would be appreciated, though.
I did manage to knock a few waypoints back online earlier, and cap Dwayna while the Zergs were molesting Cursed Shore.
But yeah, otherwise it’s CS nodes → ML Nodes → Southsun Nodes → FG Nodes → Farming pavilion.
I’m sure they will change it, can’t see how they wouldn’t.
All we want is to left alone to get while the getting is good.So you do understand that this is a situation that shouldn’t exist and will be changed.
Yes, all farmers wish to be left alone to exploit the event. But their obnoxiousness is also exactly why they won’t get it. Pity it wasn’t some out of the way obscure event. If so, perhaps there’d be less of an issue for everyone.
With the patch looming, my guild chose today to bring our newly Lv80s through Orr. We enjoyed completing certain events so much, we did it again and again!

If you do that, farmers win. They don’t own the place. If you have the manpower, be brave and participate in whatever way suits you. If anyone insults or threatens you, screenshot and send in a report. These farmers are all gold/min orientated. Every day they are banned, they die a little inside.
I do the ones I can, but those that have higher tier enemies such as champions, I tend to shrug away from.
Like for example, the Garden of Ilya waypoint was down earlier and Noone was taking it, so I blasted it back to normal, and also did that town on the far west coast of central CS (not the anchorage, the one further northwest from it).
Thing is, I don’t have the manpower. Otherwise I’d burn them all out.

Whilst I like the concept, they wouldn’t be able to pull it off, and plus that’s the point of the LS.
If they did that you’d have kittened inconsistincies, like for example, story mode Arah would be lore wise broken.
“This won’t end well.”
I wouldn’t want to hear that during my Jubilee either .-.

you forgot to add con: it’s more freaking dragons to deal with :P
and correct me if i’m wrong, but isn’t that huge crater in the far shiverpeaks the place jormag awoke from? ‘cause i remember that being the case, and if it is, he’s not THAT far north. definitely within the continent of tyria, just not on the more populated area (aka playable world).
on a side note, this talk about dragons being put to sleep made me wonder… how the hell did zhaitan end up under orr? did the whole peninsula just sprout there after he was put to sleep? was he put to sleep in the middle of the freaking ocean?
Fantasy game. HUEHUEHUEHUE.

QQ THAT’S ALL I HAVE TO SAY HERE.
Nah, Joko powers and knowledge is not even close to Zhaitan. I think he don’t have a slightest idea how to control Risen.
Don’t underestimate Joko, I think he’s secretly Mumm-Ra!
On a more serious note, I’m not sure if Risen work like regular undead. Usually undead tend to flock around the strongest undead they can find, no matter if that undead is a necromancer or not. In that case Joko could gain control of them pretty easily, since he is easily one of the most powerful undead around and a necromancer too.
However, they are dragon minions first and undead second. They fanatically serve Zhaitan, that could possibly overwrite the normal undead behavior.
I kind of had the same theory. Given that Zhaitan is the absolute in regards to Necromancy, I think it’s possible that theoretically a Necromancer could take control of the Risen, at least the lower tier ones such as the animals. Bear in mind though, given they’re dragon minions it’s possible that this may be false as dragons do corrupt the magic they’re associated with to some degree. Hence, Elementalists can’t do crud with Destroyers and Icebrood.
The first point is kinda.. Eh.. It’s a really lame card to pull out, and given the dream is a collection of Sylvari memories and knowledge, it makes little sense that a memories would defy the laws of nature from which they are recorded. But I suppose you’re right to some degree in that sense because the dream does reveal the past, the potential future and the present.
Also, I think you’ve forgotten that the Nightmare isn’t something the Nightmare court Engineered, nor can they really manipulate it, just as (for the major part) the Pale Tree Sylvari can’t really do so either, which is why the Nightmare court do actually want to take claim over the Pale Tree.
Of course, keep in mind we know little about the nature of Mordremoth so we don’t actually have entirely full confirmation that it’s the one dealing with the Nightmare. As I did mention.
I only briefly played a Sylvari in beta, real life events caused me to unable to continue playing that character. I was under the impression the Nightmare Court had created the nightmare, but I do misunderstand things upon initial encounter. Another thing I took from that brief time was that while the Pale Tree doesn’t actively govern the dream she can manipulate some things, such as sending Caithe into the dream to guide the still to be born Sylvari into correcting the problem. So perhaps this is a result of her fear manifesting in the dream?
If you’re referring to her as in Caithe, I don’t think so because it doesn’t seem to have any real connection to her. Sure, it’s a dragon, but at that point presumably Noone has seen a sort of forest dragon as of yet, so I don’t think so.
There is however a possible counter argument, and that is that I recall reading somewhere that when Caithe first saw the nightmare (which she obviously rejected, and Faolain accepted on the other hand), apparently they were both thinking of the elder dragons of the time. But I honestly can’t remember the source for this.
They should make it for non-legendaries, maybe. Not sure though. Some would work, some wouldn’t. Also consider weapon effcts, such as some of the dungeon ones.
