I just spent a couple of hours working with people on these dungeons threw pure PuGing (Pick Up Groups). Half the people that join, lie about having full exotic gear, don’t follow orders, suck at puzzles even after explaining to them what needs to be done, or just sit there and act dumb.

I agree this is a pure PvE dungeon and its impressive but this is not PuGable and after trying 2 months forming my own guild for such dungeons like this. I wasn’t able to make guild nor find a decent guild dedicated to this cause.

An absolute fail and boring patch for the next 2 months. GG Arenanet.

Yeah and its getting worse, the moment players get new mail about a new attack, 5,000 plus players spawn there.

I couldn’t with low settings, see my attacks go off, or hit any mobs, not getting any credit for any of the new events spawning.

Such a fail world event.

Guys you cant have it one way or another. You complained about the weapon skins not dropping enough and this time, the skins are alot more common.

The extra rare items, such as the hats and minis are not meant to be easy to get also…

  • Consortium Chest (Mystic Forge): [3x skin from consortium chest] + [passion fruit] + [karka shell] + [passion flower]

Sorry, but I am on Arenanet’s side this time, this is alot more better than last time.

Just to throw it in there, I never had a proper with the Minions on pathing or not acting fast enough. Not sure if its a bug for you guys but my Necro is a Charr Male.

My Issues so far is trying to chain summon minions. When my minions die and Cooldowns are up, if you dont summon the Shadow Fiend first, it will cancel and cause a cooldown interruption reset, if you try to summon a different minion at any time.

Another Issue is they die to fast. I am almost level 40 to be able to increase their health by 50% but in the mean time, I seem to have issues on dealing enough damage to a target(s) 1-3 or 1-7 in time before I die.

I use Dagger/Dagger and Axe/Focus since they are easy for me to make a chain dance with them. My spec is 0/0/10/0/10 with 1 and 2 trait.

It doesn’t matter anymore, based on the Dungeon description and how this is set up. This is too similar to the idea of video game “Super Mario Bros.” system programing.

So now I have all those sound files from my child hood are coming alive again. Only this time its 3D, Better Graphics, and on an MMO.

So this is what I imagine:

- Dungeon area as the Warp zones
- Charr as the Spike Ants
- Sylvari as Piranha Plants
- Asura as Mushroom guys.
- Human as the Plumber.
- Norn as the Hammer Bros.

Wow… as crazy as it sounds and to be read, do you really want to tamper with that, much less Asuran Technology?

Edit: However that explains how the endless amount of dungeon can be formed. I am curious if Hard-Core players will see how far, the Developers went into making how much is available.

This reminds me of the “Super Mario” on NES when you take warp zones, and recently on youtube, people have found ways to go past the coding, into forbidden lost warp zones.

All I know is that when “Time” is used in any situation, something wrong happens. In GW2 Lore, Asuranian Technology, always seems to end in catastrophe.

However, this nothing more than a speculation thread over what a Dev posted about the Dungeon itself.

I cannot comment or further the idea itself, until I get into that dungeon, and judge it myself on the lore presented.

Just to add something to the equation, Sylvari’s Sap (Life Blood), would have to be of acidic properties because there seems to be alot of hint’s that they are cold blooded and such and they consume food that are made raw or cooked materials by other races.

I doubt anything could eat a Sylvari other than something that can consume acidic properties.

Not to put down the warm sap theories, I think it was just a typo in lore, though I could be wrong.

So you are saying that that this Asuran, made a mirror (hologram), of the past for players to visit, and magically collect infusion materials?

We are talking about the Mists here.

They’re basically the lore team’s “Do whatever we kitten well please” button.

Combine that with the Asura and you’re good to go.

Well… guess we will not know until the patch goes live until then to confirm my fears.

Quote: " … These fractals are slices of the Mists, fragments of time that have been stabilized by the intrepid asura researcher Dessa. Some of these vignettes from history may be familiar to original Guild Wars players, while others will represent previously unseen events. … " – Leah Rivera

Any hard core Sci-Fi fan will flat out right challenge this idea. If any of you have ever watched TV shows: “Dr. Who”, “Voyager”, “Star Trek”, “Deep Space Nine”, ect ect. or even movies ; those people know, you cannot bleep with Time. No matter how miniscule it is.

Asuraians are turning out to be a real threat to Life and Reality itself, being the “Mad Scientist” by developer design, and really makes no sense in the game.

How in the world can a player(s) go back in time, no matter HOW stabilized it is, and participate in these events, without changing history itself?

I mean look at the flaws from what people have learned from TV Sci-Fi shows and Movies.

- A single gester can change a person’s views.
- A single idea can change the outcome of a decision.
- Males are known, sorry guys, not to be able to resist a beautiful looking female(s) and breed.
- Killing, moving, or even breathing an object could change the out come of the history.

I noticed in the video, it shows the “The Searing Era” and an “Imprisoned Titan”.

Do you not think Abaddon, as powerful as he is, would not notice a weak time portal and not take a look into the future and find out he failed; that he would not try to change history?

What in the world were you thinking, when making this dungeon?

Edit: Also please do not use the excuse, that its a different reality of another Dimension. That idea has been used and the consequences shown in Sci-Fi stories as well and there are major repercussions when you allow entry of another dimension into your dimension.

Flame Legion is a dying art

in Lore

Posted by: Shadowlancer.7102

Shadowlancer.7102

Well, according to the wiki history of GW1, in a summary of the situation, and the game itself; it was Abaddon that gave the creatures of Tyria the gift of magic, however due to the nature of things, power brings corruption and so a magic war was formed.

The Gods then sealed all magic in the Blood Stones and put them in Abaddon’s Mouth; Ring of Fire Islands. When the Volcano erupted, the blood stones were scattered and magic was then freely used.

Now in the GW2 many Bloodstone shards were found in Arah (Path 4). Once they were put back together, a Bloodstone was formed, only to disappear mysteriously.

So what I am questioning about is, the Origin of Magic, which is hinted that the Gods brought magic to this world with Abaddon playing a major role in it.

So Charr has abandon Flame Legion ways and claimed “maltheism and technology”. Even though with no Titans are around, per say, the Titans themselves did work for Abaddon during that time line, also… Abaddon’s Temple during a personal story in GW2, was still active.

So what I am confused about is the current available Charr magic users, you can’t claim “maltheism” as a race, when these magic users still exist, that’s using magic originally bestowed by Abaddon, who was a god even though dead, so to speak.

Now do not also forget that all magic was put into the Blood Stones, by the gods, that are were scattered around the world, after the eruption.

So in way Charr are like turning a Blind-Eye to magic, and yet they are not. You can’t have both ways.

So again this is where I find the conflict and question it.

I am not sure why this thread continues, according to the quote below, all decisions are final by Arenanet. There is no reason to keep on debating our concerns.

Chris Whiteside-Studio Design Director:

“I’d like to respond to concerns players have raised about ascended items. Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.

Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.

Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores."

Charr Stories Lines (Bugs)?

in Personal Story

Posted by: Shadowlancer.7102

Shadowlancer.7102

I am going to use this Main Thread as a Q&A about some things that concern me on the following issues that I have discovered.

Note: These are issues that I found on all 3 Charr paths for Blood, Iron, and Ash. I will be as much detail information as possible.

Key Words: Personal Story (PS) and Blood, Iron, and Ash (B/I/A)

PS (B/I/A): “Graveyard Ornaments”

Situation: When you first enter this zone “Scholar Yahala Scribepaw” the female charr, is right near you when Crusader Gahn Towerbreaker and Korukhan the Blacksmith are far away from Yahala, talking among themselves. Yet when wait for them to stop talking, Yahala talks, near where you spawn area, like she was having a conversation with them.

Question: By Design, are we, the player, suppose to be in the middle of the trio, while they face outward and talk amongst themselves, to the air?

Note: This is before the Dialog Cinematic.

PS (B/I/A): “All PSes that involve the necklace and reporting back to Rytlock Brimstone”

Situation: In all the return missions of updating your report on the necklace to Rytlock Brim Stone, the following happens:

Scholar Yahala Scribepaw: “The Durmand Priory is looking forward to working with the citadel on this, Tribune.”

Korukhan the blacksmith: “As is the Order of Whispers. The dragons want us to come at them individually. That’s why we shouldn’t do it.”

Rytlock Brimstone: “Glad to have you both aboard. We’re going to need reliable information from here on.”

Rytlock Brimstone: “Not to sell the Vigil short. Their firepower is always an asset.”

Crusader Gahn Towerbreaker: “No need to flatter me, Tribune. I know research isn’t the Vigil’s strong suit.”

Crusader Gahn Towerbreaker: “As long as what we’re doing eventually leads to the dragons, we don’t mind taking a back seat. Temporarily.”

Question: Shouldn’t the introductions not repeat every time we report back to the same area, an actually show a story update reflecting the choices you decided? Just seems off the same lines are used, reporting back every time.

Edit:

PS (I/A): “Dangerous Research”

Situation: After you help “Scholar Haevris”, in that objective, you hear “Scholar Emberlight” yelling at the chicken “Mr. Cluckers” in his transformation into an undead.

Question: Is the player, suppose to see the transformation or just hear the yelling?

I think what he is trying to say is the gear is ’’required’’ to complete the new dungeon being added. This takes away from casual game play and adds a required gear grind to get ‘’certain stats’’ which in essence is a gear score of sorts.

Which, is what Anet said they were staying away from, at some point…

Alot of us, don’t mind the situation as long as any of the new gear could not be used outside the dungeon to affect the rest of Tyria. In example, if the new gear looks could only leave the dungeon area, that’s fine.

Then it would had been an argument about the Legendary Weapon issue affecting Tyria.

However this isn’t the case, and has caused an uproar.

@ Ethics.4519

You have some good points, however what Arenanet wanted to do with “Legendaries” was make that a goal for casuals to look up to, but because of the Hard-Core players, we have all seen the pictures and videos with via descriptions of what all those Legendaries are. So in a way the Hard-Core players spoiled the idea of a Legendary.

Buffing a Legendary to go with this bad idea of “Gear Score”, which is in term is another bad idea, to preserve the Legendary’s philosophy, is the wrong way to proceed this.

Exotics were always meant to be easy to get, via tradeskills, tradepost, dungeons, WvWvW, or by other means. This was purposely done to make sure no one falls behind at any time and be allowed to play with their friends.

Also the other things you suggested, that was the point in Arenanet’s philosophy “Making other things as progression for end game.” Simply put, offering different kinds of end game content, not just one path. When you run out of things to do, they add more content.

“Gear Score”, however does not follow the motto of “Progression”.

If you are trying to implement an argument by suggesting that since a few people complained about how hard a certain dungeon is, that by allowing higher gear stats aka “Gear Score” to make that dungeon content easier, you just proven my point on how bad “Gear Score” is in ruining content.

More gear progression is the only way this game will last.

No you are wrong, you can add more content, meaning more PvP, more PvE, more Lore, more Events, without ever touching gear stats.

Increasing gear stats makes older content easier which they said, they are against because players complained of being bored.

What we do not know is… Does the “New Gear” stay with the dungeon area, or can the “New Gear” be used outside of the dungeon?

If it can be used “outside” the dungeon, then the points of concern of this gear score thread matters.

If it “cant” be used outside of the dungeon, then half of the points in this thread become voided and the main concerns will be the Legendaries only.

We cannot sit here a bicker at each other to the point we are frothing at the mouth and strangling ourselves until Arenanet makes a clear statement.

It CAN be used outside the dungeon. They already stated that when they eventually release Ascended weapons, all current Legendary weapons will be upgraded to be on par stat wise so they can continue to be best in slot. So that means all Ascended items will be usable outside of the dungeon, otherwise they wouldn’t upgrade those Legendaries.

If this is true, then the people that are arguing about this are right and so am I.

This will cause a gap in the player base, pvp issues, and will make older content, a breeze threw when higher levels go into lower areas and this will cause new players with gear issues, have issues with mob content as the mobs will be updated to reflect the new gear changes.

You cannot argue against the fact, that higher gear score is better, its not.

I would like to comment on this to provide similar situation about “items being picked up”.

If “Rafkin.8923” ’s character is an Engineer, there is a bug with this. It has to do with the “Grenade Kit”. If you pick up an item, then switch to “Grenade Kit” for whatever reason, then pick up an item “Any kind of item to be picked up”, and sit idle or take to long to use the item for whatever reason; the program still thinks your still using your “Grenade Kit”.

Note: Want to clarify, it doesn’t have to be the same item for this item bug to happen.

So it will “sheath” your Grenades per say, like you had weapons out, and because the “Item being held”, is not your main weapons, it will completely erase the “Item being held”, and you have to obtain that item again by other means.

Edit: One other thing I forgot to mention, there is also another rare bug and only occurs in underwater situations, if you are familiar with the “Stone Sword”, an item obtained by an ice puzzle only to be put into the hands Statue to progress in the puzzle stage, this puzzle is located in zone “Diessa Plateau” area “Flame Temple Tombs”, for some weird reason, which I am unable to figure out why, if you are holding an item, regardless if its meant to be used underwater or not, the moment you touch any kind of water that has any programing to allow a player to swim, will cause the player to lose the item, and then switch to your regular underwater weapons.

This can happen to any area that has a body of water for a player to swim in or has the programming to allow a player to swim in. I only choose this area, because its the easiest to reproduce this bug for you Devs to test and confirm it.

However you miss understand the situation, once those players has those “Legendary” weapons, no matter what future content there is, in the later years, the Legendary’s will always be up to par to be above the damage of future weapon content.

This isn’t about the “Armor” per say, we all know the armor is for the dungeon, its the Legendarys that are not part of the dungeon that can be used in WvWvW and PvE Tyria content.

Edit: Alot of people do have alot of good points in this thread, if… “The new Armor obtained” can be used outside of the New Dungeon in Tyria.

Until we get a clear answer from Arenanet, we are still arguing over speculation mode.

Hate to break to the OP but WoW did not start the gear score/endgame/elitist/etc movement, it was in EQ looooong before WoW.

I can name alot MMOs that had “Gear Score” implemented, it is only Blizzard’s MMOs that created bad communities based on this.

Sorry you can say WoW started whatever but it did not, there was bad blood, forum wars etc over gear and upgrades.

Yes but it was Blizzard’s ideology for “World of Warcraft” that to progress further into Raid Zone or Open up “Hard Mode” you had to have that gear, this was the thing that create drama. Not to mention the major part of the play was the “RNG” if that “Item Name” dropped from “Boss Name”.

Also you cannot deny, the people that sucked at their classes or how to play the game, would just get over powered gear, that was easily obtained after “X amount of time”, only to plow threw the lower content zones without actually learning anything. aka “carried”.

This is not another “Thoughts about Ascended Q&A or Pros vs. Cons”.

This is just the mere idea of “Gear Score”. I am sure you are aware of this Arenanet, as well as half of the community player base that is familiar with this, no thanks to Blizzard with their “World of Warcraft” and their abusement of this idea which in the end, caused alot of Drama and a large Gap for Casuals and Hard Core players.

Link: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

However after reading that articled, provided by the link above; I see bad clues that is bound to cause a large gap in the player base.

Quote: "… we have found that our most dedicated players were achieving their set of Exotic gear and hitting “the Legendary wall.” We designed the process of getting Legendary gear to be a long term goal, but players were ready to start on that path much sooner than we expected and were becoming frustrated … " – Linsey Murdock

Comment: You do realize that using Hard Core Players, the very few 1% that owns Legendarys, as a idea player base for judgement and conclusions about gear progress, does not make up for the casual base and thus, hint #1 Player gap.

Quote: " We have always worked hard to create a sense of satisfying progression rather than gear grind … " – Linsey Murdock

Comment: A lot of players will disagree about this since you just admitted in the quote above about “long term goal”, thus again you are leaning towards people that are grinding “Guild Wars 2” rather than enjoying it. Also the people that has these Legendarys, by no means obtained them by normal means.

Alot of them have publicly announced in documentary, screen shots, videos, forums, and personal websites using alot of real life money for purchasing gems to convert to gold, to having 20 – 75 people in their own guild, helping them obtain their Legendary in less than 2 months.

Which by your website, you posted that obtaining the Legendary was mostly to be on your part with the help of some people, however you over looked on how many people could help out and over looked how much money people were willing to spend on purchasing Gems to convert to Gold.

Alot of Casuals, are still obtaining the Legendary the old fashion way. So you are by default, ignoring the rest of the player base.

Quote: " You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons. Legendary items were always intended to be on par with other “best-in-slot” items. " – Linsey Murdock

Comment: Okay after reading this, you kinda defeat the purpose of first quote above, about players progressing or “grinding” as casuals call it. So already the “Grinding” player 1% base. Already and still at, “the wall”, so to speak.

Not to mention, you said the nightmare words and I quote “best-in-slot”. Meaning that this will cause a player gap by allowing people asking for “Gear Score” to participate in anything.

Note: Something that Blizzard Fan-boys love to cause drama with.

Also this will cause WvWvW, to be even more nightmare for PvP player base, and will cause those players to be “forced” too get Legendarys themselves, if they ever wanted to be on fair competition.

Conclusion of my Point: You are letting these Hardcore players, push you around to make rash judgements in solutions for future gear content.

This is very interesting to read, however considering the historical facts about the dead god “Abaddon” with the “Blood Stone” ordeal, as well the six human gods and that history; I find a conflict in this still about the current Charr magic users. Not to mention the reformation of the “Blood Stone” in Arah path 4.

So while Charr may not turn a Blind-Eye to currect Charr magic users, the magic itself in question was still given to be used, per say.

What are your thoughts about this?

Seriously, this much damage in 3 seconds. I understand there is PvP but for goodness sakes that is ridiculous amount of damage in 3 seconds.

I don’t even know how to counter this, spec wise.

Screenshots: Look at combat log.

Hmm, that was at least 6 button click abilities….

The second screenshot was when I was in downstate, note the “Grappling Hook” used?

Also the Thief was given Time Warp by a Mesmer, so all his attacks were cut down by half the casting time. The big problem was how to by pass the almost 9.1k damage + the 5k damage combined.

However to end this thread…

GW2 Insider noted that there are 30 changes to Engineer’s coming Nov. 16, so there is no reason to even discuss a possible fix to Engineer’s survivability until the Patch goes live and I am able to test it out.

I’m not asking for a nerf, I am asking to make Engineer’s more competive in survival, nerfs do not solve this issue, this is a mechanic issue of what ability/spell can be used to counter another ability.

You do realize as an Engineer all we have is “Elixir S” and the Trait “Elixir S”, which I will note, that an NPC or Player that does more than 26% damage in one shot, can by pass the trait ability.

It stops damage for 3 seconds. That was enough time for me to pop a heal skill and then die.

There is no way possible to survive that.

Quote: “Blood, Ash, and Iron legions’ complete rejection of the Flame Legion also rejected the Flame Legion’s values and beliefs as well. This has shaped current Charr society towards maltheism and technology, rather than magical advancement.

I for one, am against this. Simple reasons:

- Asuran Technology is far more dangerous than Flame Legion magical arts. Which has been proven by the Inquest delving into Elder dragon magic and dimensional testing that has shown catastrophic damage which was proven to cause permanent damage to the world.

- There has already been rebellions within the Flame Legion. Why cant Flame Legion change their values and beliefs that can become shared values with the other Charr?

- Flame Legion magic was still used and preserved to this day by personal story and historical safe keeping events.

- If Flame Legion would change, this would help make the Charr race strong again, only this time with the combination of magic and technology and no religious interference this time.

I just refuse the idea that every other race can dive into magic but Charr wishes to abandon it.

@ wookalar.8952

[Mystic Clovers] and the “Pre-Legendary” exotic are the only RNG for the Mystic Forge, everything else can be farmed in 2 months in reasonable amount of time at slow pace.

Well maybe the Icy Runes that cost 1 gold each and getting the 10 gold recipes, might take a while but still… that I can live with.

What I cannot and will not accept is the amount karma spent already listed in previous posts on the recent tries.

I can make a bug report but like I said earlier about two major points, multiple posters have complained about this recipe so its pointless making another point, since this will be considered another issue thrown into the pile.

The other issue was which I strongly pointed out is… how much I am beginning to dislike and resent, to the point of hating, this whole legendary ordeal.

I already accepted the fact that the grinding required is the same ordeal like the “World of Warcraft” legendaries and to me, I wasted 5 years of my Life on a digital item which in the end was not very satisfying other than getting people jealous of me, which I don’t want to become or be a part of.

Why am I wasting my Life on another same grind, same reward, for another legendary on another MMO?

To me, its not worth it, and yes you are correct, they wont refund the Karma lost, even if it was bugged and/or broken.

I am beginning to understand why the Dailys and Monthly was change to give [Jug of Karma] however, the damage is done, and I’ve lost all interest it making a Legendary. Its just not worth it, not when its only for cosmetics. I can do better things with my Life than wasting it on some stupid Legendary and I can play other parts of the Game.

Its sad when you think about it however again, Legendaries are just not worth it. Even the major popular Gamebreaker website that was bragging about this game, even those people are discouraged in making a Legendary.

Soon after a couple of months, I wouldn’t even be surprised if people, old and new alike, stop bothering with it.

I think right now, which I think I am going to try, at my own slow pace, is get lucky with a Pre-legendary sell it for alot of gold on Trading Post, and just buy 20 slot bags.

I’ve done everything else, other than the achievements which require many many months to complete some of them.

@ Kaii.5149

Think of it this way. People, like me, and others, see other people’s post of threads complaining about the same situations about concerns and then get stupid replies like:

For example, some people say they get “X item name” on 1st try, 3rd try, or even 5th try. later on it becomes 10th – 17th try. versus 50th -1,000 trys; thus my point is… it creates the illusion, false prediction, misleading, and confusion of what the actual drop rate is.

Thus people like me, are not sure who to believe. Also since it creates a false illusion that they got the “X item name”, that the “Gamble” is not so bad after all.

This is what we call a psychological trick, into making people believe they are going to “win” it big on the reward. This is was also mentioned by Arenanet about creating situations like felt like a reward by making a big deal about something out of nothing. Examples that Arenanet said is Events with the Medal graphic, experience gaining, leveling up, personal story, and ect ect.

Not to mention how Arenanet emphasized about RNG not affecting the game. So this has created a false illusion of the game.

Also one last example to better explain what I am talking about, I want you to look up or if you watch TV, how many “Lottos” or “Scratch-off Ticket” commercials there are. Its exactly like that with the [Mystic Clovers] and [Black Lion Chest], only that this is on a video game in the MMO catagory.

Now your comment about, if this is working as intended or not, it really doesn’t matter if it is… working as intended or that its broke and/or bugged. Arenanet has made it clear that the game’s set up for RNG, In-game venders (Gold/karma), and Gemshop purchases are “Buyer Beware”.

Meaning that once you purchase something by accident, to bad so sad, no refund. Same thing goes when gambling with the “Mystic Forge” and “Black Lion Chest”. All rewards or purchases are final.

Now your idea that it takes longer turning in single but a better decision on rewards, that is what people like to avoid, taking longer to do something. Its actually a pain in the “bleep”, to sit there and hold down ALT-key on your keyboard and drag the item, type one on the separation stack, click confirm, on four different items.

If your put any item that’s higher than one, in the mystic forge, its going to convert the recipe in the mystic forge, thus you will have to remove the items and try again.

So people, will try to skip as many steps as possible, and logically go for the 10 mystic clover recipe because its alot more convenient. Thus, this is why you see alot of complaints about this recipe because people dont want to sit there and individually, separate stacks, into one item.

Again for your last comment, I didn’t want to believe that a single turns had a higher chance than a 10 stack turn ins, that’s all.

Didnt people post on the forum multiple times warning against using the 10 clover recepie?

They are on the forums but I believe what people are confused about, especially me and other gamer sites that review games, is the mere fact that Arenanet made a claim that RNG would not play a huge role in this MMO and this was their “selling point” to attract casual gamers, new players, and new people to MMOs.

So people stick to that one particular comment and then get upset when they can compare a situation that turns out to be the very same situation like any other MMO. Defeating that quote and the purpose of the game that Arenanet advertised.

Personally “legendaries”, was Arenanet’s bad judgement to include on this MMO and basically, any changes made, will upset groups, of any situations.

Not only that, people are demanding that there be legendary armors for PvE since PvP has legendary armors, for cosmetics.

So this is in fact, has trapped Arenanet and their is no way out for them on a possible solution. Even saying or considering this as a “Delicate Situation” will upset anyone, if they try to wiggle their way out on this.

“Last Thoughts”

Criticizer Spokesman: If anyone from any game or perhaps from Arenanet asked how do you feel or thoughts about Legendaries compare to other MMOs that introduce this, what would you say in a gamers view?

My Reply: How do I feel?

Criticizer Spokesman: Yes.

My Reply: I am not sure how or what to feel, since I have read countless post about these Legendary situations and mathematically, its just a waste of time. I do not feel impressed about those that have “Legendaries” because I dont remember the good times, if any, about farming for legendaries. What I do remember is how much grinding there was, the gamble, and then it takes me back to bad memories about “World of Warcraft” about who gets what legendary and how long it takes to grind their type of legendary.

I am sorry to have brought this MMO up but this was the only MMO I bothered to try for Legendaries, I suppose this makes a bad bias type comment, however this is what I remember.

Unfortunately if this is what makes Legendaries, from GW2, for the me or other players to remember from other MMOs, then by design the Developers have failed to be different from “World of Warcraft”.

What also bugs me is that, some people argue that the events or “Lore” they call it, to unlock the venders required to purchase “two key items” for karma or gold, are something to be valued but… I really don’t see the difference. Since quest don’t exist in this MMO, I am not sure how you can make lore out of it. If there was any “Lore” in it, I obviously didn’t notice.

Personally, all I remember was getting a weapon, from “World of Warcraft” called “Thunderfury” on my own, asking for help from random people, in the later years of that game, and the estimate time of total farming was almost 5 years.

I was happy that I was finally able to get that but I also remember the hardships it took to get it and then it made me realize, how much time of my Life it took me, to accomplish that.

Due to this, it made me resent Legendaries. Then when I heard about GW2 in their Developer videos about Legendaries, it made me nervous, but Arenanet assured it wouldn’t be anything so dramatic or grinding like other MMOs and it was a cosmetic look.

It took me a long time to adjust to to Arenanet’s new gear philosophy about gear stats, but I got use to it. However to get to the point when I began to realized that the the grinding would be about the same as the grinding spent on the Legendary I got from “World of Warcraft” and all it was for looks, without being a stat boost, I really do not feel compelled about spending months or years farming for a cosmetic look. I was burnt out on WoW’s legendaries, I am not going to waste my time doing it all over again for another MMO.

So in ways, if people are new to MMOs and want to get the experience about the grinding, sure go ahead, for those that have been playing 10 or more years playing video games and MMOs, then no, I am sure most people are burnt out from “Grinding” and just don’t feel compelled to doing it.

Personally, I am about to give up about making a “legendary” on this MMO and looking at screenshots or videos is more than enough reward than actually bothering to obtain the digital item.

Criticizer Spokesman: I see. Would you like to offer any suggestions or ideas?

My Reply: No. There has been more than enough Veteran and New players alike, to share their thoughts how to improve it and really this is my thoughts how I feel about it and so, I feel bad for the programmers that designed these legendaries but at the end of the day, they are… after all, just for looks and eventually people will move on, like me and others.

Criticizer Spokesman: Well thank you for sharing your gamer reviews on this situation.

My Reply: Thank you for listening.

So for those that know about the

10 Mystic Clovers (Mystic Forge Recipe)

- 10 [Obsidian Shard]
- 10 [Mystic Coin]
- 10 [Glob of Ectoplasm]
- 10 [Crystal]

recipe? Yeah its a BS gamble.

Statistically this is what I have spent:

230 [Obsidian Shards] (483,000 Karma)
230 [Mystic Coin]
230 [Glob of Ectoplasm]
230 [Crystal] (138 Skill Points)

  • Rewards:

50 [Mystic Coins]
20- 25 [Orichalcum Ingot]
23-27 [Gossamer Scrap]
21-24 [Vial of Powerful Blood]
20-22 [Ancient Wood Log]
15-18 [Harden Leather Section]

  • Total Rewards:

150 [Mystic Coins] 3 times
113 [Orichalcum Ingot] 5 times
77 [Gossamer Scrap] 3 times
68 [Vial of Powerful Blood] 3 times
86 [Ancient Wood Log] 4 times
83 [Harden Leather Section] 5 times

Zero Mystic Clovers

I couldn’t believe that the single turns is had a higher chance of being almost 33% but I just wanted to believe in the 10 turn in ones and it turns out the drop rate is far worse than anyone could imagine.

I understand Gambling with RNG in most MMOs but this isn’t “Las Vegas” Arenanet and this is complete Bull crap and about as bad as the Halloween Black Lion chest situation.

If I wanted to grind then tell me its a grind Arenanet, don’t sit there and lie to my face that with a White Lie that everyone can get a Legendary and the experience does not compare to any other MMOs, example Wow’s Legendaries, and tell me that I wont spend years grinding a cool weapon.

I am sick and tired of people using excuses that “Oh well you dont have to do it.” BS If that was true then why did Arenanet went out of their way, showing videos, bragging, and and boasting so hard core about Legendaries.

From what I remember Legendaries, from Arenanets claims from previous 2011 Pax Videos, were something to be of an epic journey that was part of the game both in looks and in Lore. All I see is a grind for a shiny weapon, not a stat boost, a shiny weapon.

I am almost compelled to argue the fact for a silly if not stupid Life Long grind for a god bleep weapon that is nothing but for looks, maybe it should have higher stats.

Player warning only, do not bother with “10 mystic clover” recipe.

Edit: If anyone was interested in the total, reasonable expectancy of total karma for 77 [Mystical Clovers] (499,800) Karma. Today I have proven of spending more than that on this BS mystic forge recipes for [Mystic Clovers] GG Arenanet, GG.

I repeat ZERO [Mystic Clover]s out of the recipe.

Need Help on Mad King Tower - Specific Information

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shadowlancer.7102

Shadowlancer.7102

Like a Fool, I didn’t video record or screen shot the area that everyone gathered before teleporting into the puzzle.

I have checked with Wiki, Wikipedia, youtube, and on google for any screen shots and videos but no one has the information I need.

What I need is perfect information on all the NPCs within that gathering area.

More Specifically: Names, level, dialog when speaking, dialog randomly said when clicking to speak but has no optional dialog to choose, dialog randomly said out in the open.

Also need to know where they were standing and the timing of everything. I also need detailed screenshots and or video records of you scouting the whole area so I can make adjustments.

Yes I am fully aware of this link:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mad_King%27s_Tower_Dock

Its not enough information and I doubt Arenanet will allow me personal access just to view this area or the Mad King Tower puzzle and make adjust to my post to offer my suggestion of perfecting this puzzle game and including 2 new towers and another secret puzzle towards the end.

Not to mention since Arenanet already claimed that the Holiday Team is work on “Winter’s Day” for Tyria so that teams, hands is full.

If you are wondering why I am asking for all this specific information, you can check out this thread here.

Thank you for reading and have fun.

Edit:

I also need from the following, Mad King Jokes, specifically during Act 4, after the event, during when he is strutting around Lion’s Arch, telling bad jokes.

I also need the following, the Gem Shop Costumes’ quotes, that randomly say bad jokes. These are offered from the Witches’ outfit and Mad King outfit.

Shadowlancer.7102

Special Notes and Things Area #2:

- The Mad King’s Laugh will be used during “Time Fluctuation”. The sound file Programmers, you will be using is located in this time line provide by video. Time: (0:11)-(0:14). Do not go before or past those times. That is the evil laugh specifically I am using.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZb40BNWgr0

When this laugh is used, this is to be slightly heighten in sound so players that are jumping can here this short evil laugh. Do not try to extend this laugh.

When players hear this, this is to indicate that “Time Fluctuation" is about to activate. After the laugh is complete. Wait 1-3 seconds after the evil laugh and then activate “Time Fluctuation".

- Green Skeleton, picture provide.

Level: 80
Type: Undead

- [Candy Corn] x75
- [Mad King’s Crown]

Special Note: Once per account, per day, for 7 days.

Additional Notes: Programmers this how the loot table should look.

1st time looting: [Candy Corn] x75, [Mad King’s Crown],[Legendary precursor] or [Random Exotic Weapon], and a [Random Rare Weapon].

Note: Again, the [Legendary precursor] is an extremely low drop chance, if the player does get one, the last item is always a [Random Rare Weapon].

Future Chest Lootings after 1st time:

  • RNG Loot Table

- [Candy Corn] x75, [Legendary precursor], [Random Rare Weapon], and [Random Rare Weapon]
- [Candy Corn] x75, [Random Exotic Weapon], [Random Rare Weapon], and [Random Rare Weapon]
- [Candy Corn] x75, [Random Rare Weapon], [Random Rare Weapon], and [Random Rare Weapon]

Special Note: Again this is “Once per account, per day, for 7 days.”. You also must considered that the player is taking a gamble on the puzzle tower of actually entering this realm, finish the second puzzle, and defeating “Mad King Thorn”, to access this chest.

I’ve designed this three course puzzle game to be extremely hard but only optional as its not required for a player to do any of these new puzzle for progressing or enjoying the rest of Halloween activates.

I am Proud to Present, the “15 Bad Pumpkin jokes” for players to use to counter the pumpkins that the “Mad King Thorn” throws at you when they attack you with their jokes, that knock backs players.

Player’s counter with Bad Jokes: Using [Item Name]

- “Oh quite being such a Pumpkin!”
- “I heard pumpkins make a good SQUASH!”
- “Is it me or do pumpkins Jack o’ round to much!”
- “Pumpkins have no guts!”
- “Cut it out! Get it!”
- “Have a Pumpkin Patch!”
- “Let me slice a pumpkin pie!”
- “I heard Pumpkin seasoning has started!”
- “Pluckin Plumpkins!” (Laugh)
- “I heard Pumpkins have deep roots!”
- “You’re no King!”
- “You make the same sound when seeds POP!”
- “Burn off me!”
- “Pumpkin Chumpkin!”
- “Oh good, all Yellow and Thick!”
