There has also been new information released by anet saying many turret bugs will be fixed with this next patch. Alot of work has obviously gone into this feature patch, maybe wait and see what it offers instead of finding literally anything to cry about? Eh, who am I kidding? Asking forum users to think rationally, lolololol.
Just to point out what should be obvious to everyone, it is in the Inventions traitline because it is a Turret trait. This traitline effects Turrets. This is not the only GM trait coming out, but it is the one designed for the traitline that focuses on Turrets. Have no idea why there is so much complaining.
Devs are working on Traits and all people can do is complain. This turret trait is only one of many, not to mention tweaks and changes being done to the traitlines themselves. Engineers are not in a bad spot, so maybe save the QQ until after you see ALL the changes?
Lich Form stomp has never worked, and DS stomp is pointless. Flashing DS for stability or Plague Form stomping is all that has existed/makes sense.
Ok, for anyone having issues like this that I had, disable your antivirus just long enough to allow the patch to go through. Avast has an option to shut off for 10 min, I selected that and patch went through no problems at all. Hope this helps others.
Tried again today hoping the issue had fixed itself, but no luck.
Constantly getting this while trying to update my wife’s game. Haven’t been able to find any solutions on this. Anyone know anything about this or having the same issues?
I would definitely change out Life Force generation on Marks for having Life Blast pierce and cause vulnerability. The Staff auto attack already provides plenty of Life Force generation. If you plan on staying in Death Shroud for most of your damage, then you are seriously holding youself back by not letting you Life Blasts pierce targets.
this will happen.
Lol. I love this. But yes, Spectral Walk is the way to go here. Just the other day, a guardian stunned me while fighting over Skyhammer, so I activated Spectral Walk and of course he proceeds to knock me off the ledge. I teleport back up and kill him. Much lol’ing ensued.
I had no idea so many others enjoyed the FT and made viable builds with it as well. You are all my friends now, just don’t call me on weekends.
Pistol/Shield does sound enticing, but is it worth giving up the burst and ranged damage from the Rifle? Also, gaining Swiftness and Vigor on crit could be just what this build needs, thank you for that. I am confused on why to take mines over flame turret though.
And I think I am going to try to implement the Elixir Gun into this build. I’m starting to feel like it is needed. When I make it home tonight I’ll implement and test some of these changes and see what works. :-)
Ok, just to make things completely clear, everyone knows the FT is not optimal as a main kit. That is not new information. The sole purpose of this thread is to work out a build that utilizes the FT as a main kit that is enjoyable to play despite not being optimal.
If for any reason you hate the thought of people playing the way they want or hate people using the FT kit, this is not the thread for your comments. If you are just trying to help by saying use something other than FT, then don’t, the whole world is aware of the stigma against FT already.
With that said, anyone who wants to contribute useful information on using the FT as a main kit and has looked at the build posted, your comments are welcome here.
Despite using the FT for it’s utility, it is my main kit. This is a FT build. The goal is to sit in FT Kit while might stacks are building up and burst skills are coming off cd, and then swap to rifle and/or bomb kit as needed then back to FT.
I agree on the issue on the lack of Vigor and think I can possible remedy that by pulling out of the Alchemy trait line just a bit.
So far in dealing with stuns or Hambow Warriors, I haven’t had any issues. Some of those issues could be fixed by including an Elixir Gun in the build, but it will come at the cost of sacrificing a smoke field. :/
As for Incendiary Powder, I will look into removing it. It may very well be that with all my other burning abilities I don’t need it. However, burning is a great condition even without building for condition damage.
And yes, I really want to pick up Forceful Explosives, but I can’t even count the times Accelerant-Packed Turrets has been useful to me in some way. However, I could possibly drop Incendiary Powder for it.
the bomb/ft nodefighter build uses ft. as for using it as your only or primary kit, you’re just gimping yourself.
Ok, to clarify one last time. I am using the FT for it’s utility. If you wish to comment and contribute to thread, actually take a look at the build I linked. Please do not derail this thread on nonsense conversation on how unviable everyone believes the ft to be.
I did try a flamethrower HgH build, and while it was easy to deal with conditions and maintain 25 stacks of Might, the damage gain wasn’t worth the steep drop in survival I took.
I made this build with the intent of making the whole build playing to the Flamethrower’s strengths. Thus the large use of Smoke Fields, Blast Finishers, and burst attacks.
However, I suppose I could take a crack at making an HgH FT build that did boast a bit more survival. But then again, this build does hold points beautifully with all the knockbacks + smoke fields.
I wouldn’t pay attention to ignorant comments like that. In my opinion I am impressed with this build except I dont think I’d use pistol id use rifle and maybe a bloodlust or precision sigil to get great use out of ur might stacks. Since you are using the burning on crits a precision stacking sigil wud be nice. Even though you are using soldiers amulet with many stacks of might the condition burn crit hits wud do nice damage so more precision wud be ideal. Also the reason I say rifle cuz it has more dps potential then pistol. Even though u will be in flamethrower kit most of the time the rifle skills are very useful to pop into and use and switch back to flamethrower. I am assuming this is for pve?
Thanks for advice and support, but not sure what you are talking about. I’ll double check the link, but I am already using Rifle with Sigil of Minor Accuracy to stack precision. And right now I am mostly toying with it in sPvP with great success, but I do hope to adapt it to PvE later.
Got tired of all the never us flamethrower talk out there, so set out to make a FT build. It only take up one utility slot, 10 stacks perma might, 1 good burst attack, AoE blind, fire field, great knockback, but so overlooked because everyone wants to be able to spam 1 with it and do awesome damage.
I see it as a utility ability, and it works great for that. I sustain burns and direct damage while building might, then set up and burst an opponent down.
Ok, so first off, here is my build that I am currently using in sPvP:
Flamethower Build
So far it has been working great! The damage is nice, the survival is nice, melee opponents are much less threatening with all the blinds. It feels really balanced and is quite fun to play.
However, I think there is room for improvement. I feel like maybe I could use more survival, but then again I feel that as I become more experienced with this specific build I may be able to survive better anyways.
Ranged attacks are of course a problem. My blinds work great against melee opponents, but most players see this and still can dish out heavy damage from range.
And finally, the speed is an issue, though more of a QoL issue. Especially when I need to stealth and run, having no speed boosts is a bummer. I wish I could fit one in somewhere, but I don’t see where I can do that without sacrificing too much.
Any constructive advice would be very welcomed here.
@OP, You’re video (despite the resolution) was very well put together. And honestly I cannot see how anyone thinks that not being punished for repeatedly trying to spam an attacking until it succeeds in reference to interrupts is in any way balanced. If an oponent is spending up their resources and actually landing well-timed interrupts, it’s kind of a slap-in-the-face to be able to thoughtlessly spam through it without having to worry about proper reprocussions.
It would be nice to get some Team Deathmatch or Capture the Flag type arenas just to break up the monotony.
I currently have the exotic blades and I’ve gotta say, even with the clipping they look great.
Sounds like you stacked part of the bleeds and your friend stacked the rest. As far of the rest, it would really help if everyone could see some actual proof other than seemingly wild claims.
And again, it is against forum policies to go around creating threads in subforums to link to this thread here.
I love the Flamethrower. I’ve been desperately trying to put a build together to make it work. The one I have currently down in my signature isn’t too bad, it’s been pretty fun to play. I did run with an HgH FT build for awhile, but I found I can push out more damage and survival by traiting and picking up the Toolkit, which happens to be my other favorite kit. :-)
To clarify, I was speaking of a Bunker build. However, I am no longer in need of one. I got back on my Engineer and remembered how amazing Block and Invuln skills are. Not to mention better healing and group support and I gets a Flamethrower.
In all seriousness I love my Necro, but I do miss my Engi so I figured there is still much I could be doing as far as gearing and tweaking builds with my Engi that I’m just going to bench my Necro for a bit.
I think it’s great. Just look at how slam full Blackgate is right now. This is meant to deter that.
I didn’t really think that guardians had much problems with conditions. There seems to be plenty of condition removal skills for the guardian.
I agree that the HP is not the problem with guardian. When going with the Meditation build I still was able to survive due to the crazy amount of healing I had in addition to blocks, blinds, and what not.
Going full zerk is where I had my issues. HP is pathetic but that is not the problem. As full zerker I expect to have to use the mechanics the class offers for survival, such as using protection/blinds/weakness/cripple/chill/death shroud on my necro and protection/blind/block/heals on a guardian. But what I did not appreciate was that in return for me dropping my defensive stats I was not provided the damage capablities necessary to sufficiently kill an oponent in a glass cannon build. Again, possible that my Necro has spoiled me, but that is what makes me feel the trade-off for a guardian is unbalanced.
Thanks for all the input, as soon as I have the time I’ll go through and try out these builds to see what works for me.
Is this game just nothing but damage? Is there no real bunker or support builds that can hold their own against multiple opponents at the cost of doing no damage?
Does it exist? Been trying build after build utilizing wells to minions to death shroud, nothing seems to work. Can’t hold a point against more than one enemy.
I do apologize if I am missing something here, but I really don’t see why you can’t pick up Deathly Perception and still have sustained dps and survival. I run with 43% crit outside DS and 93% crit inside DS. I don’t require tanky stats due to my Life Force generation being so high that DS is always available when I need it.
Yeah…..not sure where this confusion is coming from. I run high damage in AND out of death shroud, my life blasts to great ranged damage, and I run with both axe and dagger. Dropped the staff and haven’t looked back.
I think there is just so much about power necros that people don’t get.
It has nothing to do with being comfortable with running full zerker, it’s mostly that I’m spoiled with full zerker on my necro and used to hitting 3-4k per hit with 100% crit chance all while generating Life Force extremely fast and using Death Shroud to supplement my already massive hp. It’s not easy, but shroud dancing properly allows me to decimate opponents with heavy attacks while surviving.
On a guardian though, even full zerk the damage isn’t that high, and comes at an even greater risk than playing my necro. All I’m trying to point out is that the risk to reward ratio isn’t as balanced as it is on other classes.
Not asking for help.
Do not need builds.
Don’t intend to play guardian, it was just for fun.
Was just making an observation.
Not completely sure what you’re talking about there, but I guess consistant damage. However, thanks to proper use of Death Shroud mechanics , I have no issues at all with survival, while still dealing great damage. The build I run is in my signature.
The point being made here is that guardians have to make thereselves extremely glassy just to do decent direct damage. This is where meditation guardians come in at, but in my opinion they have to sacrifice too much damage for what survival they get. On my necro, I fear no guardian for this very reason. The guardian is either a bunker and cant hurt me or he is a glass cannon that still can’t hurt me and will just die faster.
Learn game mechanics and it will be fine. In pve it just depends on your playing ability
There is always that one guy that makes a comment but has no idea what is going on. But of course, I shall masterfully learn how to bang face on keyboard so that guardian attacks magically do more damage without the consent of Anet.
Exactly. I really wanted to get into guardian cause the style felt kind of neat, but wow the damage just isn’t there unless you want to drop the second someone blinks at you. Same reason I can’t play Ranger. On my necro, I do amazing damage. The trade-off is it takes skill to keep me alive, instead of minons and bunker stats.
Point is, on my Necro there exists a fair trade-off between damage and survivability. This trade-off system is completely one-sided for Guardians and Necros, giving up survival but not getting the damage.
Sorry, talking from a sPvP standpoint. It seems that going full berserker and traiting to do some ACTUAL damage is nothing more than a death sentence. Just to be able to survive at all you have to dump all your traits into meditation abilities, but then damage is mediocre.
That bad huh? No replies?
Decided to try out a Guardian, how do you make it with such a low healthpool? Especially if you want to go zerker?
Lmao. Have any of you fought the training Necro in the Mists? I swear it was epic, saw a bunch of my attacks were being blocked and was completely baffled as to what was going on.
So I have my answer regarding to BM trait line from another thread, still wondering about my other questions though.
My Ranger Build
So I just started a Ranger to try it out and the above build is what I’m currently using for sPvP. My preferred play style is melee combat with high crit attacks using evades for survival. So quick questions:
- Would a Sword/Axe be a better option than Greatsword?
- Would it be worth it to withdraw any current trait investments I have to invest into Beastmastery line?
- Would any other pets be better than my current choices (Raven/Wolf)?
So, after leveling an Engineer and Necro, I have been enjoying Necro the most. I always run power builds and I love the way the Necro power build plays and feels.
Now I’m looking to roll another alt, and went with Ranger after testing out a few classes. I’m enjoying the play style so far, and of course made a power build going 20/30/20/0/0. My question though, is it better to invest more points into the Beastmaster tree to increase the stat sharing to my pet? I know the pet is supposed to be responisble for a portion of damage, so was wondering if I should be investing into my pet’s stats more through that trait line in order to push out more damage?
What type of structure would you find interesting for leagues and ladders?
I would like to simply have a way to view my individual rank progression on the leaderboards, no matter what my current rank is. I do not care if I have an assigned rank or just a % value, I just want to be able to track my progress as I am grinding up the solo arena ladder.
What I would like to see is something much like when you are logged in and looking at the achievements leaderboards, with your ranking up top.
Trying to find out how to find my Solo Arena rank. I have searched forums and google and found nothing. I know of the leaderboards, but how can I easily find myself amongst the masses on the leaderboards to track how my rank is improving / falling?
I at least like the fact that some turret bugs are being addressed, but again, the cooldowns definitely need a fix of some sort, especially if they are to ever be viable in a PvE environment.
No, we need an offhand axe that applies single target Torment stacks and a Leap Finisher.
/thread.
Lol. I’m more of a direct damage player myself, and it’s the reason I love my Necromancer. On any other class I have tried, being a glass cannon means I might get some good damage in before I get focused down and die. On my Necro it means I’m going to hit like a truck and and still be standing after the fight thanks to my Deathshroud and fast Life Force generation. Absolutely love it.
