Some of the updates were good and some bad. I don’t blame you, it can get demoralizing with these anet dev. If they pushed it back for WvW, then thats pretty bad.
(edited by Shen Slayer.3058)
I’ve been defending Anet since yesterday because I thought some of the stuff from the update was good. But after hearing that you pushing back LS for WvW…now I’m kittened.
Are you seriously trying to alienate the players to the point that some of us white knights can’t even defend you anymore? You guys are idiots!
Lol. Anet will never roll back. They do not care what vet players think.
Why do you assume the vets are always right. Was this created for the Vets Only…Noobs Need Not Apply? No, it was made with everyone in mind. You created your toon already and you got it to level 80. You got your money worth out of the game with the thousand of hours you put into it. You are not opening your wallet anymore because vets should have a ton of gold ready to be converted to gems.
So tell me…why should they cater to you? Or maybe it’s just time to move on to other games or maybe RL.
Because us vets are the loyal players who have played this game for months/years and (at least me) still invest in it.
How are you investing in it? By being a drain on their server? We vets don’t put any money into it any more. We farming the crap out of it and convert it to gems…that doesn’t translate to real life money.

If you going to create a necro or mesmer now after the update, then you’re going to be so bored out of your mind. You going to quit in the middle, and Anet is not going to show them any love, so you might as well delete it and roll a warrior.
I really hope so, that’s probably the only way to retain veteran players, beside new content.
really? all of the players I know hate the idea of raising the level cap
And all the players in-game I know love the idea of a level increase. Let’s get some thing straight here, the people here constitute a very very very small minority of players.
Anet, please don’t listen to a handful of players. Keeping it the same is keeping the status quo, the game needs a change, either level increase or content.
All of the players I know in game hate the idea. Anet, please don’t listen to one player.
And who should they listen to? The people that demand all these changes, then when Anet does make it happen…those same people turn around and criticize for making the change they requested.
If I was Anet, the forum people are the last I would take advise from, please make an in-game poll for players. They’ll see the majority differs from the few on this site that “claims” they representing the majority.
…I just want to point out that you claimed to represent the majority. You don’t. Afaik the first Guild Wars never included a level cap change, and still had players playing.
I didn’t claim it, all these people that don’t want a level increase claims to rep the whole. I’m here to say that they don’t, and the people that I do talk to in-game all wants a level increase.
And to those that say they will leave…I call BS, that what they always say when they don’t get their way, like a child, but they always end up staying.
I really hope so, that’s probably the only way to retain veteran players, beside new content.

One of the big issues IMO is the high level cap. It should have been closer to what GW1 was and at most around level 40.
No…it should be increased to about 100. Give us more things to do and maybe stick around longer.
I really hope so, that’s probably the only way to retain veteran players, beside new content.
HAHAHAHAAHA….imagine leveling a mesmer now. I’ll quit the game before I have to do it again.
Shen, you neglected to mention that you still have to run all over creation to get your hands on those skills, and still need to hunt down bosses to get elite skills (assuming you know which boss has which skills)
Unlike the trait you have to unlock in GW2, it was very fun unlocking Elites in GW1.
Also, don’t forget about GW1’s awesome gem store.
Those that haven’t played it will be blown away by the numerous builds GW1 has.
Get this…you can put any skills you want on the skill bar, your weapon doesn’t determine it.
Yeah…you read that right.
The balance in this patch is the incoming stream of casuals replacing the exiting veteran players
I laughed at first, then I realized you are right.
They did it in GW1… maybe that is why i am so disappointed
That’s not my point.
Factions have an epic ending where your character is treated like a kittening hero.
In GW2 our characters is on the background playing the idle animation -_-What I mean is ArenaNet don’t have the resources (or the willingness) to do something better.
Also, GW1 was made by a total different team and some say GW2 was made by another team no longer among us.
The GW1 team loved the game they created, they poured their heart into it, they would do updates on the weekends or late at night or whenever needed.
But for the GW2 team, it seems like its just a 9-5 job just to collect a check at the end of the week.
Should of made a warrior, that’s how Anet would want it.
If GW1 didn’t charge gems for these armors, how were they able to stay successful for so long? Whereas after 2 years of GW2, everything is going downhill?
The Feature Pack announcements will continue next week and some of them will definitely contain information that’s relevant to those of you who’ve been playing the game for long. We won’t tell you about them until the articles are live though, to keep the element of surprise!
Hm. I’ll hush until then. But if I don’t get something cool next week I will raise a hell so furious…
Jk thnx for the red post.
Given Anet reputation, you better get the torch and pitchfork ready.
How much gems did these armor cost?
I have 3 accounts and main account have 41 character slots. I was one of altholic before
April patch.
In my opinion, Current trait system is just waste. Any improvement does not resolve this problem. Please rollback to old edition.
It sounds like Anet already squeezed every penny from you. They need more cash/gem infusion from newbloods, not veterans. They could care less about us.
master of peace will return in gemstore for 1200 gems..
when it’s ready later this year next content invisibruu patch
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry.
Trait Tier level increase. We made this change because despite what the more hardcore players like myself want, most players need to be introduced to systems more slowly so that they don’t get lost. Every time we overwhelm new players that is an opportunity for them to stop playing the game. Every time that happens it becomes harder and harder for new players to develop into longtime players. Without more longtime players it becomes hard for you and your current guilds to meet and find people to replace those who inevitably will be pulled away by real life from time to time.
Level 30 is just too slow. You run the risk of boring new players who struggle to get to level 30 or 35 just to start unlocking traits. That in itself will stop new players from playing the game. What you had before couldn’t have possibly been any worse. As many have said in this thread, you can readjust the points down to start at level 15 and still have the same system as before.
Maybe we should give new players more credit when it comes to learning a new game. After all, we “veterans” managed to learn just fine in two years.
That’s what happened with me, I created a Mesmer, got her to around level 20 and hated every minute of it. It had to be the most boring painful thing I had to ever do in this game.
I agree with OP on these changes.
TTS in NA has open recruitment and GW2community in EU has open recruitment.
That settles it, the only way I can beat the Wurm is by joining TTS. Thanks a lot Anet.
I fail to see how Dungeons are Elitist gameplay? If they are then it was the community that made it that way. As the most dungeons are still quite casual and do not require very much planning or organizing.
You’re right, it’s the community that made it Elitist, but also Anet’s fault too. They weakened all the other profession except Warrior and Ele, so in a sense, they created the hostility when other class try to join a pug.
Playing devil’s advocate here…but why should Anet care of the Veteran Players, they been around a long time and has amass tons of gold to convert to Gems. The veterans are not making Anet money, it’s the newblood (like China). Heck, if anything we are a drain on their resources. It’s all about the $$$$$$$$.
No to OP…I have only kill Tequatl once, and that’s cause I was lucky a few TTS guys were there. No more elitist gameplay, we have dungeons for that.
lol
organized = elitist
ok buddy
LOL…yeah like waiting around for an hour so you can get into a good map is so much fun.

Stale???….more like it’s on life support right now.
I love my mesmer, although I will admit it’s taking a lot of effort to learn how to maximize her abilities. Not ready for prime time yet.
Have you tried to leveling a mez recently after the Trait update? It’s so painfully weak and boring to play.
Also…don’t make a ranger or mesmer, Anet made them useless. Instead, just make a Warrior and you’ll be allowed to join groups in dungeons.
I think this GW2 is at the tail end of it’s life, if Anet decides to continue in it’s current course, most people with abandon this game.
I just rolled a Mez to try it out and I have managed to get it to level 20…but it had to be the most boring thing I have ever done in this game, it’s more fun watching paint dry. I’m really tried hard to like her, but it’s just too hard. My question…is it going to get better, more fun? Or should I just delete her and and go with something else?
I like the mega server, my server was empty and lonely before it. I don’t know why you complaining, does the drops decrease or something. You guys are only the minority, there are plenty of people that enjoys it.
I agree with OP, I hate these jumping puzzles. I’m a casual gamer with a full time job and 2 kids, and only able to spend a few hours a night on it. I don’t have time and patience for them.
I just want to choose my own skills like GW1, not have preset skills force upon us by our weapons. This is why GW2 will never be as fun as GW1.
More nerfs for sure.
Yeah…that’s what I was thinking too.
And the trait system in GW2 is terrible, who at Anet thought that was a good idea. They should just release the skills and let us create our own build like GW1, instead of playing the templates that they wants us to only play.
You can create as many builds as there were VIABLE builds (I don’t mean builds like for HoH, AB, JQ,, etc that were arena specific) in GW1 (and there aren’t that many). Too many people use the cookie cutter attitude and say that is all there is, but there are more than that. What templates are they forcing down your throat? NONE – what you are saying is a player defined attitude, not the game. The same thing happened in GW1, there were only specific builds that people played and on the forums, people were complaining that there was not enough diversity.
They will never just give skills again, like in GW1, as it was too imbalanced and so many were just utter garbage.
Sounds like you never even played GW1. You could put any skills in your skill bar in GW1 and level it up with skill points. Where as GW, the skill are force on me by the weapon I’m holding and traits are just utterly stupid. I don’t know why Anet stray away from GW1’s mechanic.

I remember the days when each new campaign had utterly ruined GW1 to the point where no one played it any more. Balance across all game modes was completely, irreparably ruined by new classes and skills. All the new areas were horrible to navigate, had terrible mechanisms locking you out of parts to force you to grind through the whole storyline. New PvP modes were only ever farmed by bots because no real people would ever want to play them. And then to top it off the addition of heroes killed any hope that was left by turning GW1 into a single player game that was entirely for farmers.
Somehow i doubt that you ever really played GW1.
The expansions have were incredible and enriched the already epic game.
There is a reason why people still play it including me.A big difference is you can enjoy GW1 while GW2 is a 2nd job.
You have to do this and this or earn that to get what you want.
Even the fights….. you are the hero in GW1 you can beat a boss or a group.
You needed to plan ahead and equip yourself.
Equipping is completely gone in GW2. There is nothing like a -30% damage from fire sword pommel or hilt. There is nothing like ICE bow strings.
A huge part of the fun is to see the plan coming together when fighting. In GW 2 you are no hero, you are not even a janitor. Best case you are a janitor with thousands of other janitors sweeping the floor somewhere.
Most important thing of course is the game mechanic.
It was so much fun to play around with your skills.
The traid points were just to improve your skills you choose,
to shuffled around to the point you were happy.
Than adding the equipment to have a well round character …… pure funTo make it short…..
GW1 did everything right and the people were asking for GW1 with better graphics and jumping and another expansion when thinking of GW2
+1….you are perfectly right. GW1 was awesome, we wanted an expansion of it with same mechanics, especially being able to freely choose what skills we wanted. GW2 on the other hand feel restricted, the skills are force onto you. There’s no “Build” building like we had in GW1. If they continue to go down this same road, the GW brand name is pretty much done.
Funny…we need to join an elite guild to kill Teq. Anet really failed!
GW1 was a masterpiece, whereas GW2 is just plain boring garbage.
I highly suggest you stop working against yourself. part of GW has always been “status” even if a super rare weapon or armor piece looks like trash to you, if its super rare.. your going to show it.
well.. my examples of this in GW2 is Liadri mini, and for more of an example. even the Black Lion weapon skins.. stop releasing minis and items, giving us a date to get the stuff by, and then 4 months later make them available again. its a huge slap in the face for playing YOUR game. you did this in GW1 too and has upset many players. like the festival hats from early years that even a new player can now get? common! horrible. many people I know feel the same as me, and it means enuff for me to get angry at my monitor and get GW2 off the dang screen so I can come to the forums and throw a kitten fit about it.
STOP IT.
Stop comparing this garbage to GW1, it will never be as great. The developers from GW1 actually played the game, they were one of us and they understood. Not these money/gem hungry kittens.
I’m ready to quit too. GW1 was unique, it was different then the others, I will always love GW1, my first mmo, that’s how I’ll remember it. GW2 was garbage, another typical mmo wanna-be. It destroy the brand name the first group of developers from GW1 try to create.
They want everyone to play the TP. This is Trade Wars 2 after all…
I thought it was Gem Wars 2
Shen, China is on completely different servers than we are for legal reasons. If every EU and NA player logged in we would not affect China’s version at all.
And how do you know if someone has gotten their money’s worth out of the game or not? Can you read everyone’s mind? Maybe some feel they haven’t gotten their money’s worth.
Maybe some feel this game is the closest game out there to their perfect game, if only ANet would change X, Y, and Z.
And why should players who hate a change not voice their opinion on their displeasure as long as they do it in a polite way?
Actually, an Anet dev just admitted now that one of the content changes in this patch was as a result of China. Look at the dev tracker.
Like I said, this update was never for us, China is coming in with fresh money. Who do you think Anet will cater to?
Everyone paid for the game and got their money’s worth out of it, it’s time to move on if you don’t like the direction they’re taking this game. Anet already got your money, you will be doing them a favor by saving their servers for China. It’s the country with the highest population in the world, China is the big money maker. Either play what you paid for or hit the road.
I think it’s time to re-roll my ranger, it’s just not worth it anymore. With all of the constant nerfing, Anet might as well delete this profession.
LOL…I can’t believe Anet nerf rangers again, they must hate this profession.
