That tweet was misleading. Halloween will end on the Nov 1st, approximately 6PM eastern time.
There is a one-time event in Lion’s Arch on the 28th. Watch the progress bar in the Grand Piazza.
So what’s the time for the one time thing? Sucks that it won’t be repeatable so the least you cold do is tell people when to be there.
Please give us an exact time with a timezone.
I did all steps on Desolation earlier tonight if you want a server to switch to, nothing was bugged at that time.
I’d be fine with a compromise even, make the black lion chest skins drop more often or add them as quest rewards/buyable with candycorn or whatever. That way everyone can get something nice from halloween.
Then keep the craftable weapons as they are so those who want something rare and unique have something to grind for.
Yes please, Halloween should be for everyone, let casual players with real day jobs have cool stuff too.
My issue is that Anet is catering only to the hardcores and tryhards. Having some items be rare and costing 100+ gold is alright, but when all the cool stuff is like that, what’s left for casuals?
The Halloween event should have been a fun holiday thing for everyone to enjoy, not another legendary grind.
Just let us buy the weapons directly or make the chance something like every 1 in 10 chests has one. This is ridiculous, I was expecting a fun holiday event not more grinding.
Do you even read what other people say? Check that link, the issue I and others have with the timing is that it has been said you can miss things by not being there on time.
This was from an anet post:
And finally, make sure to be around on Sunday October 28th mid-day pacific time, you’re NOT going to want to miss it!
That is true Shinzan, I’m glad you noticed these things cause I never heard of Kegbrawl or polymock
Both sounds interesting, and I agree that these kinds of things must be added at a later date, after the bugs are fixed.
Kegbrawl is already in, just look near the frozen lake.
I think they are already trying, there’s kegbrawl in Hoelbark, and Rata Sum has a polymock arena though it’s inaccessible at this time like it’s something they worked on but ran out of time.
Thing is, the game is still buggy and there are other priority issues Anet needs to solve (guesting, anyone?) before they’ll start working on optional minigames, imo.
A lot of traits and sigils activate on weapon swap would be why if I had to guess.
If the same content was avaliable though the whole length of the time given I wouldn’t mind, don’t care about getting to do it first if I can still do it later. But this was posted by an Anet employee in another topic:
And finally, make sure to be around on Sunday October 28th mid-day pacific time, you’re NOT going to want to miss it!
This implies that if you aren’t there for the start of an event you’ll miss out and it’s not simply a case of getting to do it later.
this is basically the only one i liked for medium armor so kinda agree
Too bad it costs 100 gold… something similar but cheaper would help the variety imo.
Yea… expect I could say some horrible and offensive thing without using a single banned or offensive word.. and hopefully earn a rightful ban, as should be the case for those who use bite inappropriately, but if someone wants to call their warrior frostbite just let them.
GW2 is the most social MMO I ever played, it lets you play with others without any hassle and people help each other all the time without prompting, you don’t get excluded from content for being an assassin or smithing prayers monk, people in chat will often call out what events are happening… Only griefing happens in the WvW jumping puzzle and even there you’ll run into people who won’t attack and just let you run past on occasion. Compared to other games where you compete for loot, monsters, can’t share quests unless partied and griefing is common GW2 seems perfect.

I’m fine with censoring swears and racial slurs, understand not wanting people to use the n word for example. Censoring stuff like Bite or Jewel is just silly though, especially considering there’s jewels and skills with bite in them in game.
In gw1 they made events like these loop so if there was a finale on the 28th, it would run every four hours for the whole day, that way everyone got to participate. It worked well so what happened to that idea?

Glad to see a official response, but I totally agree with the op. You’d think the official wiki would be the place to get the information if it’s not in game but when you do you’ll find it’s all just copy pasted from the trait and skill descriptions directly and offers no additional help. If for technical reasons this can’t be fixed in game I’d suggest to at least update your wiki.

I think Anet did a good job on this front really, the armor ranges from fully covering to skimpy for both genders. Though more is always nice of course.
Reducing costs of being downed: Waypoint fee PLUS repair costs?

I’d be fine with higher repair costs but free waypoints, dead should be punished, but traveling and exploration encouraged.
I use the scepter, it has 1200 range and aoe damage on a fast cooldown.
An option to automatically refuse duel requests would fix that easily enough I think.
The mists need a skirmish option really, not just 1vs1 but groups too so you can test out builds or practice with your guild with no penalty or reward.
What about just for legendaries?
Makes sense considering how much they cost to make and the time needed to get all the pieces for them. 1 extra damage is abit, silly. Give them a decent damage boost imo.
Especially not for legendaries, they should be something optional you get for the achievement and not something you have to grind for to stay on par with everyone else.
Yea let’s not, power should cap at an even an attainable level to keep things fair and not create an endless gear treadmill.
You know the dungeons are already cross server right? You can join up with people from different servers already and once Anet gets guesting working this will be even easier.
I was disappointed to find out it doesn’t work like this already, yes please!
People should just do what they enjoy and not try force others to do things their way, the great thing about GW2 is that you can socialize as much or as little as you like with no negative effect on your game.
They can’t take away free transfers until they get guesting working.
Lot of topics on this already, though that just proves such a feature is wanted…
Please add this, most modern MMO’s have a dungeon finder, just GW2 is behind on such a simple feature.
You can fast cast by tapping the skill’s key again too, double tap to place it at your cursor instantly or aim if you need to.
You should be making friends and socializing because you want to, not because the game requires it.
I remember grouping in WoW through dungeon finder and never talking to the person I was with. Like we are just going through the motions and he is there as an extra body.
Most of my dungeon runs are like this already, we only talk tactics if necessary.
I just got out of an instance in GW2 (CM SM) and had a blast with my party. We joked and talked more than my parties in WoW did.
And if you want, you can still play this way too, what does having or not having a dungeon finder have to do with any of this though? Here’s the thing, finding groups easily doesn’t block your ability to talk to them!
Spamming LFG for 30 minutes isn’t socialization nor does it create a community.
Yea, I do want more level 80 areas and wouldn’t mind more challenge, as long as it’s not exclusive due to requiring a certain build or precise coordination to get done. Keeping the current event structure where you just run up to an event and join but with harder encounters would be fine with me.
I’m fine with GW2 dungeons for the same reason, your build and class doesn’t matter so it’s easy to get a pug and still finish as long as everyone’s competent.
I also don’t like waypoints and I think a system where you automatically travel through the land on some sort of vehicle or mount is better but most of the younger players are not willing to wait 2+ minutes to go from point A to point B.
Younger players? I’m an adult with a job, I don’t want to wait around but actually play the game with the time I have each day.
The only way they’d do this is though personal storylines, they did mention romance as a possibility for the future in the past.
Never got to do them in GW1 because of group elitism, if you weren’t the right class/cookie cutter build combo or you were new you didn’t get a party… so no I’d rather they not add content a casual player won’t be able to experience.
And definitely against any sort of PvP in PvE, no need to open this game up to griefers.
(edited by Shinzan.2908)
Waypoints stay = Those who want to can use them, those who’d rather walk can do just that.
No waypoints = Those who’d like to use them can’t, those who’d rather walk just keep doing it.
Having waypoints is simply better than not having them because you can make the choice yourself rather than be forced to.
Yea, no this is certainly something to fix, I’m just pointing out that it’s not as easy as Anet just going alright and turn off server transfers, doing that in the current state of the game would lead to more issues than it fixes and I imagine more people would be driven away than those who care about WvW, even more so since they promised they’d get guesting working first and inform people well in advance.
I think he’s in, seen videos of it happening in beta so doubt they’d remove a feature like that.
Again, you don’t get that this isn’t about WvW but guesting. If they disable free server transfers now you won’t be able to play with friends on different servers, something that was promised as one of the main features of the game. The only reason you can transfer for free right now is that this feature doesn’t work, as soon as they get it working server transfers will cost gems.
They can’t disable free server transfers until they get guesting working, that’s the crux of it.
In GW1 they eventually made events run for a whole day every 2 hours or so, hopefully they learned and do it the same way here.
I think orr is just really bad with this because it has risen and nothing else so anti farm gets triggered faster, whereas any other area you’ll be killing different mobs so it’s not an issue.
That said, last night I played for an hour and got about 5 rares, though I did half an hour of wvw in the middle of that so that might have reset it for me.
The depth in WoW, Kotor and other standard mmo’s was just having a bunch of skills that do the same thing or do one thing and nothing else, there was no fun to it, you just hit 20 buttons on rotation when the cooldowns come up. I like that GW2 keeps it down to just a few buttons to press.
More skills to chose from on the other hand are always welcome, I think GW1’s system was great in that, hundreds of skills to chose from but with just 8 on your skillbar at once it never got cluttered.
In summary, yes to more skills, no to more buttons, keep the interface simple.
I get about one a day, still an improvement as it used to be ten though.
Works as intended, this is a team game. Next thing you’ll complain that your buffs apply to nearby players too…
Actually the conjure skills spawn two weapons each and you equip one automatically.
