Any non-permanent availability has the same effect, just for a different group of people. It’s just an arbitrary point at which you can say “Yes, this is enough”. And no, it really doesn’t discourage anything. Look at 90% of servers running around with wings. It did exactly what the devs wanted it to, it made everyone “panic” and want to buy the wings.
You think people wouldn’t have bought them anyway? Even we are complaining because we wanted to but couldn’t.
It stated in the article that they would be coming back in the future, so why are you complaining?
Because a lot of things we have been told are coming have been for ages now.
Or they could just not have bs one day sales. Seems easier.
Sure it’s coming back just like Super Adventure box…
It’s more about normal people not checking the website constantly in case there’s an omg unannounced one day sale.
well if they didn’t do that you would be waiting for 6 months for that item regardless.
Again people, this isn’t an actual item they have to manufacture or ship, it’s a virtual item and once it’s developed there is limitless supply of it. They can release it right now if they valued their customers more than some marketing gimmick – we wouldn’t have to wait at all expect that someone at Anet decided we should.
And they’d still make money regardless, after all we are complaining about missing the chance to give Anet our money. Sure it’s business but you can be customer oriented without trying to milk out every cent.
It will be permanent.
But the reason for time-limited sales is because they work. People feel rushed to buy stuff and they do it. It is simply good marketing.
That’s the kind of treatment I would expect from crappy freemium facebook games and not from an AAA MMORPG I actually bought and continued to support though.
Permanent? There’s no reason to limit this stuff, it’s not like there’s an actual supply that can run out or continuing to sell them would cost Anet extra.
the thing is, as stated, this is just a sneak preview. How do you know that it won’t be permanent?
Doesn’t matter… Why not sell them now? They are already made and in game. This is just some attempt to create artificial scarcity and get people to buy stuff out of fear it will be gone the next day.
What should the timer be?
What if I am away for a week? Should everything stay for a week?
What if my computer dies and it will take me a month to get all the parts needed to fix it?There will always be people that misses out.
Permanent? There’s no reason to limit this stuff, it’s not like there’s an actual supply that can run out or continuing to sell them would cost Anet extra.
Seriously, there isn’t a single player who benefits from limited sales like this, guess making a quick buck or whatever is more important though…
This is ridiculous and I’m seriously kittened off about this, it’s not like there’s a limited supply of a digital item so this is just purposefully messing with people.
Screw anet for not realizing some people have work and stuff. I wanted these and just found out they are not being sold any longer… selling something like this for one day only is ridiculous.
I’m throwing money at the screen but nothing’s happening…
You’ve all already seen this I’m guessing? http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/gw2-black-feather-wings-backpack-41.jpg
My wallet is ready.
^ Awesome, glad to hear. Cheers!
I’d like a main hand torch.
Is the Defiance fix going to be applied to old bosses and creatures or just to new content?
This has already been covered here:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/The-New-Defiance-Article
Got a relevant quote? Dev post in that topic only talks about what depleting the bar will do.
Glad to hear you are finally fixing Defiance, hoping you’ll address condition caps next.
Is the Defiance fix going to be applied to old bosses and creatures or just to new content?
The dreamer is a dumb silly skin but saying it is “for girls” is insulting and sexist.
Fractals were specifically made for people who want this kind of grind though.
Charr, wanted an excuse to make a heavy armor one and now I got one.
Why use Gliders if we have Waypoints in HoT?

Because flying is awesome and I can’t wait.
So what’s the alternative you complainers want? Matchmaking just keeps looking for a match until the right conditions are met even if that would take 10-30 minutes or even longer?
Premade vs solo is never a good condition.
You didn’t answer the question. Again. If mathmaking can’t find a good match, should the team not get to play until it does?

Adding flight to an area that was not designed with it in mind would open up a lot of exploits so it’s unlikely, no reason something like a speed boost couldn’t be universal though.
Selling a high cost item on the TP costs a lot and is definitely not a “small price” to pay. Like a guild member could not actually afford the 50g (!) TP listing fee to sell a precursor he got from a lucky drop. Which isn’t to say you don’t run a risk of getting scammed, just that not everyone doing this is out to scam you.
As for why it’s happening now, with the announcement of new legendaries and the precursor scavenger hunt hoarders are probably just panicking and trying to get rid of their stuff before prices drop.

Do you folks just not know yet or is there another reason why you won’t tell us anything at this point? Just curious, I assume you knew there was an expansion in the works for much longer than when the announcement came too, or was that still a case of, “we might scrap the expansion idea and then players would be angry if we had promised one already”?
They might just be getting the system ready now so they can add more specializations later.
90% chance I’ll get it, enjoying GW2 so unless they change things for the worse drastically in some way I’ll stick around.
There’s still her running of with the egg in the present too. We can assume what she’s up to is no good otherwise she could just tell the others and we’d help, so it seems whatever she’s going to do with it is something she knows our characters wouldn’t allow.
Caithe is the villain though? Not comically evil like Faolain but the story ended with us learning the awful things she did in her past, just before she steals the egg again and leaves us at the mercy of Mordremoth’s beast. I don’t think her betrayal is going to get a pass, at least not without some serious attempt at redemption.
Mass Effect 3’s ending ended up being crap because the original idea got leaked but the head writers wanted something unpredictable and surprising instead… so rather than build upon what was foreshadowed we got a worse ending that came out of nowhere.
The plot being predictable doesn’t make it bad, that just proves it makes sense and works in context. Twists for the sake of having a twist don’t make a good story, neither does changing it each time people figure out what’s coming next.
Sorry but you are still saying the same thing.
No offense meant but the above rebuttals could be summed up as ‘Sylvari/Pale Tree are not like other dragon minions’
Yes they are different from all the dragon minions we’ve seen so far and have nothing in common… expect for the rather important bit where they are (or were originally intended to be) the minions of a dragon.
Glint was nothing like the branded either so it’s shown dragon minions can change or even turn against their masters.
For me definite proof that Sylvari belonged to the dragon came from Scarlet’s exposure to Mordremoth along with Vorpps insistence that she was exposed to part of her own psyche rather than through an external input.
No offense meant but the above rebuttals could be summed up as “Sylvari/Pale Tree are not like other dragon minions”. Like you are going through every random note or statement looking for contradictions while missing the bigger picture.
The sylvari storyline even starts with a shadowy plant dragon which is trying to corrupt the dream.
Not liking the story development is one thing but dismissing it or claiming it came out of nowhere is just unfair to both Anet and those who figured it out in advance. There have been subtle hints of this from the beginning with more foreshadowing as the story went on, until Scarlet’s fate pretty much confirmed it. That players were able to guess at the twist just proves the groundwork has been laid.
Personally I’m liking the plot and I’m curious where it will lead, good job all.

Most disappointing:
Pretty much all of the offhands, but Minstrel is the suckiest by far.
Quip, Dreamer and Moot for being joke weapons.
The login daily for rewards seems awfully close to what a lot of scummy freemium games do. Not impressed.
The old monthly could be spread out over the month or done on a weekend.

At least anet shouldn’t use the two week release schedule as a feature or excuse if they can’t actually deliver.
Out of all the MMOs I’ve played that previewed content, it was because it was always far away, so they had to keep people interested in the meantime. A single content patch every few months is fairly standard. Expansions for example are typically announced 6 months to a year before their release, meanwhile regular releases have stopped entirely.
With a 2 week release schedule, there’s really no point in showing off the next chapter. If they were going to release something big, they would no doubt announce it.
2 week release schedule doesn’t work as an excuse when they keep taking months long breaks.
Maybe getting kicked could just create a copy of the instance for the kicked member so they don’t lose progress either.
Still a good change though.
I wouldn’t mind these “vanity” back pieces costing so much if common equivalents for all stat combos were available for prices on par with other accessories of the same quality, even if they didn’t come with a visual at all.
This annoyed me, I wanted to side with Taimi and tell Phlunt to go kitten himself.
Most of the “singleplayer content” can already be done with a group.
Ok, just to end this topic… That most of you misunderstood. Because everything that I wanted is to see story instances reused for group instances (new mobs, same story) with new achievements.
What I wanted to say at the end of this thread is this: My guild is doing only one task together right now: two years old dungeons. This the ONLY content that is keeping my guild together. And it’s the only thing that keeps people socialized. So I don’t think you can build community with content that prefers single player. Sure, some people will stay and play for a while. But they will leave sooner or later if they are not hooked up by friends that they meet in this game. Support whatever content design you want but I assure you that longevity lies in multiplayer aspect of the game.
Personally I do like playing the story instances. But after I’m done, which does not take long, I log out and wait for two weeks for a reason to log in again.
If your guild only plays together when forced to it’s not much of a community anyway in my opinion. If you actually wanted to play together more you could, nothing in the game is preventing you from being social.
Dry Top content is not about cooperation. Ok, there are a lot of people that help with the event. But there is no need to prepare your build accordingly to other party members. You don’t need to be on team speak or communicate in any other way.
Yep, and that’s great. This is what GW2 should be about, playing with others, but without a hassle or being forced to.

What would you consider to be a hard achievement anyway? All players are limited to the same engine and gear, and since guides exist it stands to reason that no matter how difficult, once someone figures out how to beat a challenge anyone else will be able to do it given enough practice.
I imagine that an achievement only 1% of players could get would by necessity require a ton of grind (so people are unwilling to do it), a cookie cutter build (so most characters and classes can’t do it or can only do it with very specific gear), or luck (making it random). None of those options sound fun so what do you suggest?
Content should be designed with the majority of players in mind, achievements only 1% of people can get would be dumb and a waste of design time in my opinion.
I think the ones we are getting are fine.
Yeah, and grey/black is never linked toward plants.
The black orb does actually glows a greenish-yellow when it lights up. Also look at some of the Mordrem… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/3/31/Mordrem_Husk.jpg/450px-Mordrem_Husk.jpg http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/3/37/Nightmare_Hound.jpg, they seem to have a more dark/wooden than green texture. While zhaitan has a prominent bright green glow inside him http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/4/49/Zhaitan.jpg. As far as judging this by colors I feel this could go either way.
It would fit better this way in my opinion, because that way the vision reflects both Zhaitan’s defeat and Mordremoth’s awakening last.
Unless the vision doesn’t mean what we think at all in which case all of this is moot.

In GW1/GW2 green is also traditionally associated with necromancy.
