I liked the new zone, the mission playing out slightly differently on a sylvari and another char was a cool touch, and I loved my character actually speaking. Also Rytlock. <3
Class wise, revenant with shiro and weapon swap is fun, dragon hunter and reaper were fun, tempest seems pointless, I don’t get mesmer so w/e regarding chronomancer.
What’s even the point of ranked and unranked? I tried doing some in both, the games and rewards are the same, from what I could tell the only difference is that unranked has more maps
Is there a summary of it up somewhere?
I definitely heard him, didn’t realize it’s Silvari only though, that’s a great touch.
I couldn’t care less about watching other people play so this doesn’t benefit me at all but I also don’t think it takes away from my enjoyment of the game. It’s a drop in the bucket for Anet, doubt it’s like they had a choice between creating more legendaries and running a tournament, and we get less legendaries because they chose the tournament.
PvP balancing ruining PvE is another matter but that doesn’t tie into the tournament directly as they’d probably try to balance PvP anyway…
No and good riddance, GW2 is better for not having a trinity.
Might be reading too much into that statement but maybe they are actually making legionaries have lore this time around, which is why they are waiting for the story to introduce them first.
Just wait for release, you don’t have to pre-purchase you know. I’m satisfied with what Anet has shown so far so I did but none is forcing you to.
So we are not getting any actual news this week? Guess it’s offset by the beta weekend but still, would have liked another profession reveal.
Tomorrow's PoI: What do you want to know about Pact Commander masteries?

If I only go for the mastery for auto loot, can I turn off the chat symbol/icon thingy?
I’d like this, dungeons are now full of exploiters who just run past stuff and don’t even do the content there…
If celestial is so great why is everyone running around in zerkers?
From https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-first-beta-weekend-event-begins-august-7/:
From there, they will land in Verdant Brink, the first map of the expansion, where about 25 percent of the total playable space of that first map will be available to play.
Serious answer though, considering she was working for Mordremoth and that’s who we are up against it wouldn’t fit even thematically.
Someone beat me to the awful idea that would be Trahearne… but there’s still Kormir!
Do I need to enter the number in any specific format? I tried 0904******, the thing says that number is invalid. Do I need any + stuff before it?
Other than the map selection is there any difference between the two queues? Rewards seem to be the same from both.
I won’t have an opinion about warhorn until we actually see the skills. One thing that is kind of a bummer is that an offhand means you’ll have to pair it with dagger or scepter though.
Unless this was changed really recently attunement and kit swapping does trigger weapon swap sigils.
Data mining suggests Glint will give shields.
I’m actually curious what else the specialization will change, since they are supposed to modify a core aspect of the class itself – though not necessarily so as I don’t think the ranger specialization does.
The other legends got a buff too…. but yea, I do believe everyone will run Shiro just as everyone runs zerker gear or certain trait lines. There’s always a meta build that’s just the best, and since GW2 meta is about DPS it makes sense to slot the dps legend.
Too much work to create six more legends and corresponding skills which will be weak by design and each only usable by a portion of characters.
Eles have attunement, engi have toolbelt skills and kits. They don’t need weapon swap, revenants did.
Changes look great, especially weapon swap. Gj anet, kudos for listening to feedback and acting so quickly.
Looking forward to the next revenant beta now.
Announcing Tagashi legend right after the rev beta is wrong on so many levels….! I’m starting to hate A.net..they are just selling their product very badly!
Or maybe they be revealing Shiro now because of the negative feedback from the beta.
Even not counting conjures a dagger ele has 400 range on his fire auto and 600 on the water one.
Another thing is that being range locked to range is not an issue because even a staff ele can drop his attacks at point blank, while a mace or staff revenant can’t use his melee only attacks on distant targets at all.
Another big difference between eng/ele and rev is that eng and ele are ranged by default. Not having melee isn’t a problem, but in some situations not having range can be, and hugely so.
Cool but restricting.
I like the animations and how their skills feel, but they need weapon swap, even if limited in some way. The utility skills don’t make up for only having one set of weapon skills to play with. I don’t like how if you want range you have to use hammer but then you get nothing but that, yet if you run staff or mace you have no ranged option at all.
Revenants should have two weapon slots, but only switch them when changing legends.
Learn to read or pay better attention before spending money on something. The add and purchase site both say beta weekend events, this stress test is neither a beta, nor a weekend event.
Probably won’t be coming back anytime soon considering the black wings they promised us a while back are nowhere to be seen either…
I just tried this, I believe if you have the beta slot and and another unused character slot it lets you create a “beta” character, but then just moves them to the free slot since no beta is currently running.
Even if many compinations were a “mistake” to use… We had the option to do it. It was OUR way of playing. And instead of giving us more… you limit us?
That’s actually called a trap choice and is something devs should strive to avoid and eliminate. In an ideal game there would be no bad builds.
And just having attributes no longer tied to trait lines creates much more diversity that that which they removed.

What’s wrong with warhorns? It’s the skills they put on them that matter.
They should fly me over to their office and give me a full tour, I also want my name in the game’s credits. Nothing less will do.
…actually no I’ll take a character slot.
Before I would have had to buy an extra character slot along with the expansion which just felt like a kick in the unmentionables… With the character slot the expansion costs only 35e/40$, think that’s fair.
Seeing I just bought a bunch of games on steam for a few bucks, I don’t mind new players getting a good deal, as long as veterans also get something for their ongoing support.
I’m fine with the price with the character slot for existing players added in. GJ on not ignoring this issue.

Think it’s more of misrepresenting the product
They actually had to change their FAO because of this, used to said you’d need to buy the core game, now it says you get it for free.

They are not getting HoT for free. They have to pay 50$ just like everyone else. They are simply getting the core game as a free bonus IF they purchase HoT.
Why don’t I get a second copy of the base game then? That’s anet just trying to misdirect us by changing the wording.
I paid full price for GW2 and got the base game, now I have to pay full price again to get HoT.
New players will pay full price for the base game and also get HoT. BS.

New players getting HoT for free is ridiculous, at least throw in a discount, gems, some bonus upgrades or free character slots.
You might as well ask why they have sales (50% off!) for digital items that in reality cost nothing. It’s just crap marketing (that is crap for the customers, it obviously works for Anet).
The real issue is that if they put in an official roleplay server they would be expected to moderate it, which I doubt they are willing to do, but at the same time if they don’t moderate then having one is pointless.
I already got one legendary the hard way and I’m happy about this, looks like getting them will be both easier and more fun.
The policy is for the players benefit, they can and did ban any name they want for any reason though. If someone reports it they are likely to make them change.
Didn’t think they’d actually do this but great change, thanks for listening.
Brought back? No. Wouldn’t mind if they redid the dungeon instance he’s in to be cooler though.
They added that goofy lizard with the southsun update I think? I wouldn’t rule out new pets.
If you want to explore 100% of the world, you need to explore 100% of the world.
So how come I don’t need to explore any dungeons or fractals, pvp arenas or edge of the mists?
Besides, do WvWers actually want players who are only running around to cap points to take up slots from actual contributing fighters?
