Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

I rarely team up with others because there’s no need to, you are still helping whoever is around you, it’s like everyone is already in a group with you anyway.

So what was the point of making it one time only again?

Is any of this reflected in game? Karka are still at large and there’s no sign of the consortium doing anything there.

The Consortium IS there…they have a few locations where they’re pimping it out as a vacation resort….why not go check it out for yourself?

I’m there right now and I’m quite sure everything looks the same as it did before the event…

You weren’t there before the event.

I’m talking about the final event from last night that a lot of people missed. The event anet won’t repeat because they want people to feel like they had an impact on the world. After which the zone just resets to it’s default pre event state so there was no significant impact anyway.

After staving off the Karka invasion in Kryta and the Maguuma Jungle, the Lionguard (aided by many citizens from Lion’s Arch and volunteers from all over Tyria, including several famous heroes) ventured to the karka homeland of Southsun Cove, and managed to kill the Ancient Karka, thus ending the threat to the rest of Tyria for now. Meanwhile, the Consortium is exploiting the island as a holiday beach resort, and their (former) employee Canach, who is widely held accountable for irresponsibly endangering Lion’s Arch, is still at large.

Will this do?

The one time event itself didn’t change anything though, there’s still karka on the island, the zone looks the same etc.

Anet reasoned that they want one time events to be meaningful and change the world and that making them repeat would lessen the impact but if there’s no impact to begin with that explanation doesn’t hold up.

Unravel a mystery of monstrous proportions in The Lost Shores, a massive one-time world event that will change Tyria forever!

So where are the changes? Nothing significant happened, the event had no consequences as far as I know.

What was the reason for making it one time only again? They could just leave it to loop every few hours for a week or even permanently since it has the same impact as downing the Claw of Jormag.

What a "casual" player really is, in my view

I very much should be able to jump back into the game and experience the same content as those who play constantly. I think getting things in game should be a matter of skill and not time played, someone shouldn’t have nicer and stronger gear just because they spend more time grinding for it. And I definitely would mind having to play catchup each time a new item tier gets released.

Time spent acquiring gear and moving through content should mean something, and again, if you can think of mechanics they could add to the game that would result in the most ‘skilled’ (let’s not even try to define that) players getting the best gear, let the ideas flow my friend.

People are criticizing ANet endless for the not catering to the right community, or not ‘sticking to their manifesto’. They’re honestly, just trying to do what’s best for the many different groups that make up their player base. Who care exactly how you define casual and hardcore? Why not just suggest what you’d like to see in the game, rather than picking apart the decisions the developer is making and offering no ideas of your own?

Ideally you should be rewarded for overcoming challenges and finishing content, not repetition. Running a dungeon 100 times is no harder than doing it once, if you can beat it you got the skill and already overcame the challenge, after that it’s just repetition.

The guy who plays more than me can have more stuff than me but he shouldn’t have better stuff simply because he’s got the time to do the same thing more often.

What happened to making all grind just cosmetic? You lied about there being no required grind, yet ascended armor and improved legendaries are just that. Maybe you should reread your own manifesto because this goes against everything you promised and a lot of players feel rightfully cheated.

And having to grind up for agony resistance just to do the new dungeon, how is that not exactly like WoW raiding?

So yea, dunno what to make of it but I guess ascended gear isn’t what everyone think it is?

It’s true that people are overreacting over a lack of information but who’s fault is that? Why is anet using third party sites instead of their own forums to facilitate communications? They could avoid so much grief for everyone if they just posted stuff on here and responded to people’s concerns.

I guess legendary armor to go with the weapons wouldn’t bother me, as long as another 3 months won’t bring the introduction of divine armor to be followed by abysall etc, gear treadmills in mmo’s suck.

I don’t enjoy pvp much to begin with though I gave WvW a try anyway, but a combination of high repair costs, long travel distances to get back to the action after getting downed and low badge drop rates made me stick to finishing the monthly then doing stealth runs of the jumping puzzle instead.

Legendaries getting easier to get?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

Shinzan.2908

The other stuff needed to make a legendary takes effort but can be done if you work for it, no problem with having to farm the materials and karma etc.The only problem with the legendaries are the precursors themselves since it’s up to pure luck and they are so rare that a few people who got lucky or exploited now control the market. I hope they make getting them easier, since even with the precursor you’ll still need around 200g, a million karma and tons of materials so it’s not like they’ll become commonplace all of a sudden.

Please bring end game gears progression to the game

in Suggestions

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

Shinzan.2908

Gear progression in other mmo’s is just a meaningless gating mechanic keeping people with less time to play behind. Consider this, if a new sword lets you do 5x times more damage but you fight monsters with 5x more health you haven’t made any progress and the only thing that changed was the arbitrary number assigned to your attacks.

I think Logan’s actions are understandable, if foolish, I certainly wouldn’t hate him for following his heart and running of like he did…

The issue with him is that he doesn’t own up to it, instead of just admitting that he screwed up and taking responsibility he’ll throw a tantrum when anyone brings it up crying about how he did nothing wrong and it wasn’t his fault kitten

Rytlock even comments on this if you are a charr player though so it’s definitely intentional and not simply bad writing.

Out of 10, what would you rate this year's GW2 Halloween Event?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

Shinzan.2908

8.5/10, had fun with the event, only the drop rates for the skins/black lion chests sucked, and the communication from the devs could have been better overall, like not teasing a one time only event and not giving the time, then the event turns out to be a 5 second cut-scene that repeats periodically anyway.

I’m quite happy though, even managed to snag a greatsaw from the tp before the prices tripled.

Even though Blueprints are soulbound, it is possible to give them to any other player of your server.

Just move outside of the spawn area, double click on the blueprint so it appears on your action bar, press button 1 to lay the siege weapon down then any other player can pick it up.

If guys that dont like PVP but are doing puzzles for the badges, donated their Blueprints to the WvW guilds on their server in this way then they would be helping the cause and be thought of a bit better maybe.

Coud you explain how this works? When I put the siege down it starts building, how does someone else pick it up again?

Maybe read what I wrote?

I think the real problem is that they made getting badges of honor required for legendaries,

Agree with the last part though, shouldn’t have to do PvP for legendaries, monthly achievements or 100% world completion, don’t want to be in WvW any more than the WvWers want me there. :p

Cost of waypoints [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

Shinzan.2908

Both waypoints and repairs are moderate costs easily recouped in one heart quest, one event or one round of gathering. PvP tab go to heart of the mists take portal to Lion’s Arch – that makes one leg of going to the bank/merchant/changing zones free.

What level are you? This is certainly not the case later on.

At the start waypoint costs are reasonable, the issue is that they scale up quicker than the rewards, at max level the reward for an event is less than getting there cost you.

I think they should make waypoints free and increase repair costs to balance it out, meeting up with friends or guildies or going to do a dungeon shouldn’t cost anything, and dead would still be punished.

Those are the bad guys our characters aren’t part of any of those groups. Just explaining they would need to rework the whole game to allow for factions and allegiances, it’s not as easy as turning on a pvp flag so would require time and resources that could be spend elsewhere.

in Halloween Event

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

They kind of tried this already? The are the craftable weapons (arachnophobia, the crossing, grinning shield) which cost a fortune, then the black lion’s skins expect those cost 40g+ as well because the chances are too low. They should have kept the craftable ones as rare and hard to get and the others for available for everyone.

Open world pvp just leads to griefing, but if it was only some servers you have to pick I couldn’t care less how someone else plays. I’d never step foot on there though.

That said it just wouldn’t work in the game’s current state, for one thing all the races are at peace so it would go against established lore.

rare skins and feeling "unique"?

in Halloween Event

Posted by: Shinzan.2908

Shinzan.2908

So, my questions, in summary – does a skin really have to be owned by just a few people to make it special?

Both I think. Some items can be rare and expensive but cheap or easily attainable alternatives should exist, and this is the important bit, they need to be just as cool as the rare stuff.

The Halloween event has two sets of weapons, the craftable ones which take a lot of effort and grind to get, and this is fine with me, some people enjoy having something to work for so they can.

There’s also the black lion chest weapons, which should have been available easily for all but because of how rare the chance of getting one is they go for 40g anyway and that sucks.
