So about a week ago, I was roaming in WvW, killing a guard, I suddenly see something interesting being dropped: spark. Kittening spark. I was so happy, I instantly took a screenshot and told a buddy in my friendlist. Some seconds later I was disconnected from the game. I logged back in and what happened? Spark was gone. I opened up a ticket but I was always told that they couldn’t find any data that I actually got it at some point (I don’t know it would even work when talking about a rollback) and yeah, spark gone. I was told it would be the fault of my connection but honestly, I kinda never get disconnects, it all happened after the big recent update where so many things became buggy/broken, disconnects and rollbacks for everyone. About a thousand gold flushed down the toilet. I’m kinda mad and sad at the same time and I don’t know what to do now. Simply let it like this? Is there anybody who can actually help me in this matter? It’s frustrating as hell.
Also happens to my gf and me.
It would be awesome if we could get this option additionaly “only attack my target”. Would be awesome vs mesmers for example, not attacking clones, and not having to press “attack” everytime after the mesmer gets out of stealth.
When someone thinks you’re a free lootbag and they lay in the dirt after a minute.
And pets. I like pets.
It would be so easy if it would behave just like the 4th skill of the warrior’s banners… backwards… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sprint
sigh Just let it ignore cripple/chill for the time jumping back. Problem solved.
try this… little to no damage/pressure, but it’s exactly what you want
You can take healing spring aswell. Choose the pets you want. Also you can replace either SoS or SoR with SotW/LR.

Yes, only when on high but if I turn them down the water’s edges look very crappy, I mean there must be a solution o_O
So basically everything glows if my shaders are set on high. I’d be okay with metal but even leather, cloth, snow etc glows. Even in caves… it looks really weird… what can I do?
So there’s one thing that weirds me out.
Exactly what’s in the title: confusion and retaliation.
Not because it’s defensive and offensive at the same time, not because you don’t need to do anything to make damage but what I don’t understand is following…
Every other condition tics once every second. But these two badboys… can tick way too often. If ANet would change both so the damage only occurs once every second (like the healing part of the omnomberry ghost for example) it That would have following effect: better balance for confusion in WvW/PvP (perplexity runes cough cough) and the retaliation change would actually make one class also viable in zergs which never was: ranger. A ranger can actually kill himself in 1 rapid fire with the piercing arrows trait. Simple math: 1 retaliation proc can deal 400 damage if some might is floating around in the enemy zerg. That means: rapid fire: 10 hits x 5 = 50 hits x 400 = 20.000 damage if everything hits. And then there’s also barrage and warhorn 4. If retaliation would work the way I suggested we would look at another number: 10 hits on 5 people within 2.5 seconds = 5 × 3 × 400 = 6.000 damage. that would be not op nor up and totally acceptable imo. It would also help many other classes.
What do you think?
I run full celestial and I like that combo more than shortbow + sword/torch.
Yeah barrage… I realize it, curse over myself… and repeat it xD I have to pay more attention and don’t panic^^ Thanks for the feedback.
Hey guys and gals,
so I just made my first roaming/duelling video.
The only problem I encountered is the recording software. I tried it with raptr but the starting/saving of the recording sucks hard and some recorded stuff won’t work. Then there was bandicam but my fps always dropped to 15 – 25 so I instantly had to stop recording when fighting someone challenging. That means I couldn’t record about 10 GS warrior fights, a bunch of different thiefs, mediguards, some mesmers, some eles, a 15 min stalemate with a cele d/d ele and much more, which is very sad, because those were the more interesting fights. Can someone recommend me a recording tool?
Well, now to the video, hope you enjoy! (constructive criticism is welcome)

If it doesn’t work in your country, try it here:

And yeah, I know I’m still making mistakes like not waiting for an engi’s block to use entangle but well… Someday it’ll work^^

I’m open to duel anyone, just add me and send me a pm ingame. I’m playing on drakkar lake (EU). Doesn’t matter if WvW or PvP.
I always wanted the hoofed game family to be tameable (deer, moose, ram, ibex, etc)
F2 should be hard aoe cc (knock-down/knock back), radius like the drakes tail swipe.
Thank you very much for your perfect help, Behellagh And of course sirsquishy, too
Thank you very much, glad there are people like you out there What would you think about these cards?
My PSU reads “HM K-23/400W 3*SATA” – should be okay, right?
The 5450 wasn’t prebuilt, bought it because of the price and the sucky onboard. ~150€ would be my max budget atm, I attached a picture of the tower because I have no idea where to get these information you guys need.
Hi there, I need help to figure out what to get to make GW2 run smoother… I currently get something between 20 and 30 fps, even when I’m alone, every graphics setting being the lowest, almost unplayable when fighting. I currently run this machine:
AMD Phenom™ II X2 511 Processor 3.40 GHz
6.00 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3
Win7 64bit
Would a new graphics card be enough to play well (except big zergs ofc) at medium settings? If yes, which one? If no… what should I do?
Thanks in advance to everyone who helps.
I see something… axe + fortifying bond + rending attacks + expertise training + eagle/hawk
Well, I got up to the norn and his dog with my ranger being lvl 30-40.
So I just copy and paste what I wrote into another thread a long while algo:
Elementalist:
OH torch: fire ? another set of fireskills, like spitting fire; water ? mistskills like blinding or regen; air ? skills that resemble a firestorm; earth ? lava-based skills
MH axe: How this elementalists remind me of WoW-shamans, there’s need for axes here. And yes, they know how to wield them properly, they can even summon them.
Warrior:
OH dagger: used for finishing your foes, every knight, soldier, w/e was running with a back-up knife or dagger which was used to finish off armoured enemys after wrestling them down.
OH torch: who doesn’t miss the picture of an medieval/fantasy-army marching illuminated through the night, who doesn’t love torchlight processions at all?
Ranger:
OH pistol: we know the ranger likes it quiet, but an ace in the hole is the best life insurance.
MH dagger: as already suggested many times, this would be lovely.
Necromancer:
OH torch: plague-flame-spitting maniacs? check! (green flames of course)
shortbow: Would just love to see something like that, I mean, c’mon, banging around with magical-infected arrows? Who wouldn’t like that?
Guardian:
OH horn: the most obvious. I’m even wondering why this ins’t already usable. Buffing
and stuff.
longbow: yes this is a guardian. A guardian also guards gates. And what do you do when you see a bunch of foes trying to rush your beloved castle? No, you don’t charge into them like a mentally disturbed suicidial person. You try to get them off this kitten castle. What would work better than a magically enhanced longbow?
Thief:
MH mace: what is better for knocking somebody out than a lovely blunt club?
rifle: I know it’s hard to loot somebody after killing him from long distance, but it’s safe, modern assasins do the same (ask Kennedy! oh wait…). As long as the thief isn’t screwing up like this guy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx-hdWXuXZQ ) it should work well.
Engineer:
OH torch: igniting your matchlock pistol and letting your enemys look like Niki Lauda at the same time? Definitely!
hammer: what does an engineer want more than a weapon used for smacking faces and repairing/destroying stuff?
Mesmer:
MH pistol: Sometimes you just want to keep your hands clean in a normal way.
OH horn: Just tell me, what’s more confusing than a shizo running around with a vuvuzela?!
In all honesty and despite the fact that I love roaming with my ranger:
It’s all fun until you run into another player who plays a dueling build. like a mesmer, warrior, necro, thief, ele or engi. Even if you’re as good as the other person, the class WILL make the difference. Go into the dueling area and fight some people using dueling builds there. Have fun – or not.
Oh man, you remind me of some duels I had with one of these guys – every single one lasted about 20 minutes, I won 1 time, he 2 times. What’s even more annyoing than the healing is the condi cleansing… I’m also open for every tip.
And about condition spamming… necro>ranger.
^this
But…. I like to roam on my ranger. People see other classes and avoid them sometimes. Everyone runs at the ranger thinking free kill. It takes lots of the work out of finding fights.
Same goes for me. I’m even in the position to beat most mesmers/engis/warriors/thiefs etc now but the biggest problem for me are condi necros.
(edited by Shirk.6421)
Maybe sword/horn? Bird-massacre and swiftness are very nice. Otherwise you’d have to either use traveler/speed runes or drop a slot for the signet of the hunt to get some decent speed.
The bonfire damage is kinda not what the tooltip says… do you see the little 8? You would only see this damage if somebody would stand in there for the whole duration and letting the burning tick out. Burning stacks in duration. It won’t boost your dps any more than every other source of burning. And about condition spamming… necro>ranger.
I often see spirit rangers in sPvP , stacking 30 seconds of protection in 5 seconds, just with their stone spirit.
That picture is hilarious. I’ve never seen anyone hold/draw a bow as wrong as the girl in the picture. How the hell can she aim with that furball on it?
Archer here. It’s called a flying anchor. If she’s shooting intuitive, the fluffball doesn’t bother her, she aims before drawing the bow back. The arrow just rests on the false side of the bow for the mediterranian style. flies away
My fellow rangers – I have to share this wonderful experience with you, just have a look, lol
I would like for ANet to give a “Free Hand” option to Thieves. A full skill set around a single weapon (You still need an off-hand weapon equipped to benefit from the stats, though).
I hate, hate, HATE how all games pigeon hole Thieves into dual wielding monkeys. I know its just a game, but dual wielding is NOT a practical form of fighting in real life, and I would like for more of a non-stealth Evasive//Grapple/Parry-Riposte style play with an “empty offhand” fighting style.
Please… staaaaahp… rapier + dagger, saber + dagger, tomahawk + knife, axe + seax in the western world, dual butterfly knives, dual sabers, dual swords, dual axes, dual sais, dual hook swords in the eastern world – your argument about the reality issue is invalid.
You want to know what all of the weapons you suggested had in common? Not a single one or combination of them was ever used in war. Dual wielding is nothing but high fantasy that is insanely impractical in reality (like the myths around katanas. They aren’t anything to write home about).
What does that have to do with war? The only professions who have actually something to do with war are warriors (yes – they can dual wield swords, not only an increased coolness factor but also done in the middle ages, not common but there is evidence), guardians and engineers – and all 3 can use shields. But yes, the shield wins big battles – shieldwalls, blocking projectiles and easy to handle for standard actions.
It’s funny how every other class would hit for at least the double in this scenario, lol.

Just calculate from your stats: How many seconds of regen does it take to get to the point where it’s more hp than you would get from vitality. Also, vitality can help you survive bursts better, but you have to figure it out for each scenario and then decide.
To be honest, if the rest of the traits we get new are like that… I mean, what the actual kitten. A grandmaster trait for something that should already work from the beginning? You don’t even need to dodge, simple sidestepping and you’re safe… For what does the longbow has this much range if it won’t work. Welcome to the ranger. When I look at the mesmer’s one, I’d like to puke. "The new trait for mesmers allows them to gain additional benefit when disrupting enemy skills. Power Block will be introduced to the Domination line and will change the recharge of an interrupted skill from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. "
Yup. When I looked at Mesmer’s new trait you know it will be a bad day for everyone, specially for a thief who can spam their skills = more chance to interrupt.
I wish ANet could elaborate on Read The Wind more, if its just increase in arrow speed then this is just crap. But if they also give us extra Power with it like +150 together with increase arrow speed then sure.
Too bad thiefs don’t need to give a kitten because they don’t have any cooldowns… (except for heal and elites, ofc)
LOL. Do you even know what this means for you thieves? It means you will get cooldowns if you get interrupted by Mesmer with this trait.
Im also under the impression you haven’t played GW1, if not, then welcome to what the real Mesmers can do. Enjoy your baptismal once this goes live.
Mesmer: Power Block
Enemies of mesmers beware: they’ve learned how to mess with your skill recharge! The new trait for mesmers allows them to gain additional benefit when disrupting enemy skills. Power Block will be introduced to the Domination line and will change the recharge of an interrupted skill from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. This will not affect skills that have no recharge, but I’d imagine that stopping a necromancer from consuming conditions would surely put a nail in their coffin.
The Mesmer one is way way overpowered…
If I can read a trait like that.. and instantly see how bloody overpowered it is..I question what the hell anet is thinking
Technobabble, which is a 6 second daze with MoC is incredibly powerful….The ability to lock out abilities for 10 bloody seconds every time you interrupt is just so bloody oped
Seems like they only play dungeons, I have no other explanation.

The tooltip is buggy. It shows your additional boon duration while it takes the boon duration of concentration training (note that it works only when infight).
If the sigil of geomancy popped from weapon swapping the sigil of earth also won’t provide it’s effect for 9 seconds.
“The thief has a better short-bow and the warr has a better longbow.” it’s funny cause it’s true.
The Warrior Longbow? Absolutely. The Thief Shortbow? I laugh in your general direction. Barely any damage to the thief shortbow. #1 ricochets, #2 just explodes or can go into multiple explosions, #3 is the same as Ranger SB #3, #4 is just a poison field, and #5 just lets you teleport a distance. It’s crap compared to the Ranger SB in terms of damage.
A weapon doesn’t have to be a pure dps weapon to be good. The shortbow offers nice movement, poision fields and blast finishers. It’s a gimmicky AoE weapon.
Hei there!
What I’m posting now is my opinion, feel free to tell me what you think and/or why I’m right or wrong with my thoughts.
So recently I thought a bit about the general role of bows (or other ranged weapons in the terms of power, not condition damage) in this game and came to a conclusion.
Like about everybody should know ranged weapons lack in damage because of the advantage to be… yes… ranged. Less risk – less reward.
If I look at the ranger’s bows I see two weapons trying to deal decent damage but they won’t because they aren’t allowed to hit as hard as a melee weapon.
If I look at the thief’s and warrior’s bow I see two (self) support weapons working very well regardless what the other weapon slot contains.
ANet tries to make our bows dps weapons but fail at it because of their own rules. In PvE it’s acceptable but it bothers me the most in PvP/WvW. The only advantage of a ranged dps weapon here is when standing in the backline of a zerg as full zerker. Ranged dps weapons are easily counterable. Stability and gapcloers or stealth for thieves. Or just orbit the enemy to cancel his auto-attacks while keeping him in CC. Even soft CC prevents an enemy to build up distance. And even if the enemy can create a gap with the help of a specific skill – you’re at him again.
I think the recent longbow bug worked so well because we took the fury with us after swapping to a melee weapon – thus supporting ourselves. With the rules of ranged dps an actual archer using a bow as main-weapon isn’t possible. Yes, the warrior’s bow is good – not because of it’s damage but because of the gimmicks it provides: a long root, a fire field and a nice AoE blind. Kinda same goes for the thief: a high mobility spell applying blindness and a poison field. So far I’ve never seen a good warrior or thief only using the bow. And even the rifle only works fine in a full zerker setup when you manage to hit an distracted enemy. It’s just for the lulz.
As I already said, making a good dps archer isn’t possible because ANet would have to breake their rules for ranged damage. ANet should either screw this rule and give us atleast a decent burst skill that we can combine with SoH or MoC (A burst skill would work very well with remorseless – use hunter’s shot, channel the skill in stealth, land a crit from opening strike) or rework our bows to make them viable as supportive weapons.
What do you think?
(edited by Shirk.6421)
Being able to show both weapon sets at the same time. maybe clipping has to be reworked if you have 2 sets of 2-handed or 2 sets of 2 1-handed weapons- For this you could actually implement another feature: deciding where your weapons will be when sheated: 1 handed weapons at your back, both at the same side, or maybe swapped? main-hand on the right and off-hand on the left? There would be many ways.
I’d really like a voice-chat for WvW.
Being able to choose between of this 3 options:
-getting in a chatroom with the commander and the other players with him. (right clicking on the commander tag – join voice-chat)
-a voice-chat for parties (also outside of WvW)
-an open-area voice-chat. You can speak with every friendly player in your radius of sight (the radius in which players are also marked as green dots on your map)
Bleed is totally broken … 25 Stacks are way too low for that bleed isn’t even dealing more damage than a direct hit. Bleed is actually a direct hit over time that gets destroyed by your allies and this is just wrong.
I personally hope they will increase the cup like this:
Elites 30 stacks
Champions 40 stacks
Legends 50 stacks. That is my wishful thinking, but maybe someday.
That’s the first thing I read here sounding fine and logical.
If you play a condition build and want to destroy strucutures – well, bad luck. You went for it. Everything has pros and cons.
Bleeding earth elementals but not flamable wooden gates – that’s the logic.
