I don’t think this is a real issue. Mai Trin is not a dps race fight at all, you need to destack her & survive, that’s all there is to it, there is little to gain by doing massive dps on her, maybe you can finish the fight 10% faster.. (my fractal lvl = 50)

Meleeing Mai is doable with a GS (maybe even sword, but I didn’t try that), although I found close range shortbow being the best for Mai.

On a side note a dead pet might be better here than an alive one.

I’ve been doing fractals 46 earlier today (rezzing is very difficult with the mistlock) & I noticed that the spirit has a 1 second delay on it now. Since then I saw that the patch notes indeed mentioned it as a bugfix for the ability not firing off when used right away, well I never had this problem before, I could use the spirit the same way a warrior can rez with a banner, the overall effective cast-time has been similar too & yay now it’s 1 second longer. This reminds me how Anet dealt with the shortbow animation bug a year ago …

When you need to use a ranged weapon, but you want to maintain spotter on your teammates shortbow is the best option, I don’t know any fight in fractals where I need to be in range & the 900 range is limiting in any serious way. I surely won’t use LB in 600’ish or closer range.
About sword/horn, that is my main weapon set, but there is more to it then a learning curve, in some situations GS is just better. If you are doing a fight where near instant reaction time is required using sword is playing with fire. (mid animation you will have a delay on dodge even with auto off)

(My current fractal lvl is 47 & got it almost exclusively on the ranger. /did the dredge map on guard once because we had problems/)

The build I use doesn’t have Natural Vigor in it. It took me a while to get used to it, but we have sooo many dodge skills on weapons it’s crazy.

Longbow has no dodge/evade.
Main Axe has no dodge/evade.
Offhand Axe doesn’t have one either
Offhand Torch also doesn’t have one.
Offhand Warhorn also doesn’t have a dodge/evade.

Only 4 of our weapons have a dodge/evade. Greatsword, Sword, Dagger and Shortbow.

The GS Traits in Nature Magic should be moved to Skirmishing, since it focuses on dealing damage anyways.

Or in to Wilderness Survival where the other greatsword trait is.

Our traits are a mess and all over the place. They need compression and a few to be moved into more logical spots.

If you are using longbow you need to dodge a LOT less than a melee player & the stealth is also able to help you in pve too. (not that LB is a real option in organized pve) Main hand axe is just really bad atm& if you still wanted to play it you could combine it with an offhand dagger for the extra dodge.

If you play the meta build with sword mainhand & shortbow as a safety “getoutofmelee” weapon (in pve) you will have a LOT of dodges & having endurance regen as well is nothing short of OP.

I understand that the ranger has lots of problems, but endurance is not one of them & it won’t be either after dec 10., this is a nerf that is perfectly logical.

No it’s not logical at all. Stop being an Anet apologist. Logical would be to turn this trait into the very same 5pt trait that other classes get on crit or turning their trait into the same version we get.

Either way it’s irrelevant because Peters isn’t going to come back here and say anything. They’ll do exactly what they planned to do and we’ll get to suffer from it on top of all the other broken crap with our class that they won’t fix. Real great “balance” there Anet.

The rooted 1hand sword is the most useless weapon in GW for ranger, not only for its poor damage but it roots you on the floor, that the only option you have for an evade is that one dagger skill on a cooldown. It is like sticking your feet in superglue, tying a firecracker to your shoes and trying to light with a damp match, hoping for a lucky strike to get you free whilst smacking a very angry Komodo dragon with a wet noodle. As for OP, I think you confused GW2 ranger in another game, there ain’t nothing OP about the ranger in any way or form.

I meant OP only for the endruance regen / amount of dodges on weapons. Yes the MH sword is broken, but more endurance regen wouldn’t help that now would it.

No… a but a lot more damage and the weapon performance would help ,which is something we should be pushing for . Stating something is “OP” when its really not , taking into consideration the bad offence to defense balance, is pretty much stating it needs nerfed rather to what we need raised right now. It is only OP if the offense to defense is balanced and it is far from that ATM.

I just had a wacky idea that might make some aspects of MH sword less frustrating. I’ll test it out when I get in to work and report back.

C’mon man, the sword MH auto is interesting but it’s not that bad, what is in need of help is the bows. They’re so simple & someone with one finger could play as good as a top tier player… NEED INTRICACY

It is VERY bad when you compare it lets say to to the guardian sword auto..
In the current melee heavy pve meta even if they improve bows they will still feel secondary…

As I stated, this change is a lot about low hanging fruit. The problem with ranger is things that are good we don’t want to overpower and the things that are not as good are difficult to change. For example:

  • Skirmish and Wilderness line could probably swap half of their traits.
  • Beastmastery has basically one generic trait per tier and just needs to be more generalized.
  • both primary ranged weapons are a mix of single target and AoE.
  • Both marksmanship and skirmish lines lack traits to enable power rangers.

Despite those problems rangers have some great builds in PvE, PvP, and WvW. The core problem is diversity but it just so happens that rangers are not setup in a way that makes it easy to improve that diversity problem.

Too much typing for the bus, I’ll try and discuss more when I’m in.

P.S. I tried some stuff on MH sword but it was a marginal improvement at best. I’ll ping some programmers today about one other way we might handle it, but don’t hold your breath.

The current system yields the max amount of money for Anet I think, it’s pretty clever in every way. About spending your real life money to get the item it’s easy. There is a gem conversion to gold function. If you convert 1000-1200 gems to gold you can easily buy your skin of choice on the TP.

I have have no problem with soloing, I have a problem with ppl joining for 2 minutes getting arah tokens/dungeon master they didn’t work for.

I don’t think just because there is no content hard enough for someone the solution should be soloing.

In gw1 there were only simple running services for saving time, that was entirely different, also the money income was much less serious, even for running droknars.

And let’s not mention some of the mechanics involved in soloing p1 or p2, or when 2 ppl just kick 3 pugs to sell the run at the end.

Axe offhand is kind of underpowered. For a weapons balance within the class something like this could work. But there are so many other classes with significantly more serious weapon problems…

Please make soloing & skipping Lupicus impossible. Maybe introduce a mechanic that makes Lupi reset if only 1 person is alive, or anything really.

Long term solution idea: Design a mechanic that up-scales everything if less than 4 ppl are inside the dungeon. (regardless of being dead, close/far to the party etc.)

This whole Arah selling industry is not only hurting the legit clear groups, but also its adding a lot of gold into the economy. The buyers get gold with no effort & the sellers will obviously use the earned gold, so the gold total is increasing with less player effort spent than any other activity I know. (An experienced soloer can do the run just as fast as an average group,)

1. Pressing dodge while autoattacking with the sword has no effect.

2. When activating signet of the wild’s active ability with signet of the beastmaster on the ranger cannot pick up conjured ele weapons & alrdy carried weapons will disappear upon activation. (ice bow, fgs, LH etc…)

3. Pet F2 skills sometimes don’t activate at all when pressing F2.

In the current dmg heavy dungeon meta, water field blocking the fire fields can be very annoying. For open world play & soloing this new version feels better (to me).

I hope yes, partly but sometimes Anet makes me angry, as they did with Clocktower. I couldnt finish it last year but I know that you could farm chest but now people who run around map using auto-attack are getting more rewarded than those who use SKILL and beat hardest JP in the game.

Hi!

I don’t think this is a bug. Simply anet doesn’t have the tech to refresh the prices in real time in your TP window, so every time the prices stray off from the values you see in the window you need to reopen it, sometimes this happens so quickly that you cannot sell anything at all. :-) A refresh button would be a great & simple fix for it..

I’m at Jormag and just ran into this big hole in the “it doesn’t make sense to dodge out of a leap” logic. If you’re feared in the middle of a leap, you immediately drop out of it and run away. I’d say that’s pretty good rationale to be able to dodge out of a leap.

In my opinion dodge should automatically interrupt leaps, channeled skills etc, changing this would be a great quality of life fix for multiple classes, ranger sword would obviously be benefiting the most.

And this test is not even taking into account the might stacks on your pet.

You missed the part where the tester noted that crit damage is capped in PvP, where this was tested. He continued to state that without the caps, aka how it acts in PvE, the GS should outdamage the SB. So in PvE and zerker gear the GS should outdamage the SB even if you can somehow manage to be flanking 100% of the time, which is practically impossible.

Even with a disabled autoattack you cannot react to random occuring events that would require an instantaneous reflexive dodge. The only way to dodge mid leap is to swap weapons & thus interrupting the leap & dodge, not very comfortable or useful :-)
