Serious question though, i take it that you can’t even access the part of the zone with this electric guy in it without that prerequisite grind?

You can mostly. It’s just that in order to get to the dragon main event you gotta do an organized meta pre event thing with multiple lanes etc. except these are a LOT harder than the scarlet thing was.

Alright, so I succeeded in killing the dragon. But in the time available could not find my way to the hero point .. (9 minutes) Someone suggested that without ley line gliding it won’t be possible..

Wow between HoT and Halloween there are a LOT of new bugs. This thread may get buried…

Here’s an idea.. They should offer Legendary owners a “trade in” period after the new Legendaries are released. So for example Howler owners could trade in for the new Warhorn if they want. Same for each weapon to make it fair. Maybe for the 1st couple weeks after release. Maybe with some gems or mats or something.

I would just rather have them fix Howler, which used to be one of the best legendaries ..

Still looking for the juvenile tiger and electric wyvern, as everyone else is. I’ll probably take a poke around Dragon Stand later on and I’ll report back if I have any luck.

In the mean time, if anyone would like help getting to the fire wyvern, bristleback, or the event chain to get the smokescale in Teku Nuhock, I’m definitely willing to lend a hand. Feel free to add, or whisper me via the character name Taamene. NA server.

I’m not a pro at the maps yet, but I’m getting there ahah. Soon we shall have all the new pets collected!

I don’t understand the problem with the smoke-scale. Just do the events for the frogs that are trying to raise bugs to defend them, if you manage to up their defenses sufficiently the smoke scales will start spawning, if nobody bothers with the event they won’t spawn.

Yes and No, I do feel CAF generates bit too slow and runs out way too fast for how long it takes to build the CAF needed.

They just need to improve how you generate AF and remove or make it degenerate slower. I use Staff with my build but I only use CAF 1-2 times a game and never at right times due to how long takes to generate the fight is normally over win or loss.

If you’re using the staff, the king of AF generation, and are still having that much difficulty even using CAF once or twice in a game…yeah, things have gone horribly wrong for the Druid. It would be nice if we had a response here.

It has nothing to do with auto-attack of sword being good though..

You’re using the 2 3 5 on s/d, not 1.

We can fix 1 while leaving 2 3 5 alone..

Also 2 need a QoL revamp too. The backward roll is slow, and the evade frame occurs too late.

I usually use the 4 skill too.

It took me like 1-2 months to learn every single encounter on the game and figured how to play with sword. There’s currently NO content where sword is not viable. You can melee all the bosses/encounters in game and perform as good as everyone else.

Yet here we are, 3 years after launch with people still refusing/are unable to learn how to deal with something that was here since day #1 and makes the class unique.

Yeah well not too much content like that"yet". If Arena net takes raid difficulty seriously then there is just NO WAY that sword will remain viable as it is. The easiest way to make an encounter more difficult is to demand better player reflexes & make you move around more. In all typical raids in WoW & other mmos “not standing in the fire” is super important, all this “let’s use weapon dodges” won’t work when you need to melee from farther away or you need to go to a specific tiny point where there is no fire and failing frequent reflex checks will be inevitable with a sword. Yeah sure some players will still able to make sword work, but the moment you need to move around with sword ranger your dps just drops too effin much, the problem with this is only that currently our other weapons just aren’t good enough, the range limitation on longbow is ridiculous too ..

I realize that some ppl enjoy a challenge, but I don’t like being handicapped like this. I gotta admit that doing some boring dungeon like AC is way more fun on sword ranger than PS warrior, because you actually need to pay some amount of attention, but this is still bad design.

Also in high level fractals max range melee is a thing, on ranger you cannot do it, as a result if you are amazing your dps merely drops, if you aren’t amazing you will keep dying, but either way you will never do as well as other classes in those max melee situations.

I love how this still comes up. What I love even more is that some people believe the broken functionality of the sword to be a “feature”.

You’re all aware that at one point, this was a bug we were told would be fixed, right?

Immediately after release, it was noticed that the “leap” animation in the AA made it impossible to dodge. We actually provided video proof that this was the case, and were informed it was a bug and would be addressed.

Like every other ranger bug, it persisted for ages, and now has become so entrenched that it’s no longer a bug, but a feature.

Stockholm syndrome.

People simply amaze me.

I mostly agree with this. I also find it funny that most of the sword lovers are wvw, not spvp players *scratches head *.

You guys might be fine with how this is now, but the dev guy made some fine points about how action games should work and with the new action camera & crosshair targeting the swords current behavior just doesn’t fit. If you don’t agree with me I encourage you to try the sword auto attack against a group of mobs without targeting any of them. The direction of your leaping will be at times like the three body problem, unpredictable & you cannot reliably hit the same mob twice after the initial few attacks.

In pve the sword as it is now is really really bad. You cannot move around your opponent freely, you cannot reflex dodge anything, in it’s current form it just won’t work for raiding. Sure after playing with it for 3 years I’m doing well in our current super easy dungeons, but that’s it, tbh it’s way too much effort already. I’ve been raiding in WoW for years and 2 out of 3 bosses wouldn’t be doable with sword ranger mechanics, simply because the easiest 2 ways to add difficulty to a raid is to test your reflexes more & make you move around more.

The usual suspects (commenters) already said as usual that they love the auto-attack “please don’t change”. I just don’t get it, even in pvp sword is mostly an evade weapon to support condi builds & to add to our mobility with leaping. This all sticky mechanic is nice and all but in 5 months of spvping I haven’t seen a single ranger that was even half decent using it & sticking to things while not dying. (Seen one before then, but he was just a streamer admittedly effin around with ranger & even so he wasn’t that great I just lost an 1v1 to him & I was kitten about it)

Here is what I’d like to do in PVE: freely move around my target as I please like other classes can do, I want to dodge with “v” on demand, not having to wait for a animations or do fastmath regarding when my dodge will start & end. Also if I’m in a red circle I want to be able to walk out of it without needing to evade if it’s a slow attack thing .. In a perfect world stubborn “I want to stick to my target guys” would get to keep the 1h sword & I would get something else like pve pvp split on GS & a HUGE damage boost like 150-200% on auto attack. Removing the range restrictions on longbow would totally work too.. One can dream.

In any case there never will be a time better than now to make one of our other 2 power weapons identical(or better) in dmg than the sword, or to rework the sword.

Druid feedback:

1. The range of the heals is too little, it’s difficult to operate if the party is spread out.

2. In celestial avatar form skill 1-3 feel underwhelming, while 4-5 is okay.

3. If I want to use Glyph of the Tides to pull foes together (all guardian GS5 like) it just doesn’t work very well, because of how little the range on the skill is.

4. The druid trait tree is really boring, it’s basically all heal stuff with a few pvp only fillers, no real options for any build diversity.

5. Staff dmg is way too low. (it is really good for getting back to celestial form quickly though) Adding bleeds to the auto attack would go a long way.

6. Wyvern pets: it’s great that we finally have cleaving pets, but in my opinion it’s not great to have knockbacks on attacks we have no control over, even if its a really weak knockback. The f2 animation is way too slow on the fire attack & the f2 air attack feels weak..

7. Smokescale pet: I really like this one.

8. Tiger Pet: In nature no big cat likes water as much as tigers, why cannot this be amphibious? Other than that it’s a reasonable pet.

9. Bristleback: Initially I thought that if ranged dps would be useful in raids having a ranged dps pet would be awesome, unfortunately in it’s current form this isn’kitten The damage is underwhelming, it is tanky though, but I don’t see why we need this since all of our current ranged pets are essentially the same.

10. Elite Glyph: The damage mode feels really really bad. I would change it so that it tethers to allies in dmg mode & to enemies in CA mode. Tethered ally taking dmg would reflect back some & tethered enemy would heal some while dealing less dmg temporarily.

Although I’m not entirely unhappy with today’s Ranger buffs (and the Taunt fix which was totally called for), changes like what happened to Heal as One tells me that Arenanet continues to not listen to actual Ranger feedback.

The kind of buffs we needed were the kind of buffs Necromancer got: good buffs to weak weapon sets and utilities.

We’ve seen Arenanet leave specific weaponsets at meta-breaking levels of imbalance for YEARS (take a look at Hambow or D/D ele) and this imo is the #1 cause of stale meta feeling. I hate to see this happening to the Ranger, which although weak during the Cele Ele/Engineer meta, was still well balanced internally.

We don’t need some weird insane might stack + perma quickness tied around a heal skill. It’s janky and random and in all honesty not fun.

Ranger is now pretty much a Longbow based class. It’s like Warrior was, but worse, because the Longbow is entirely dominant among all the weapon sets.

Greatsword attacks remain pitifully weak (when you exclude cheese might swapping or cheesy cooldown stacking like Signet of the Hunt +Signet of the Wild).

Mainhand Axe does pretty wretched power based damage, and Bleeding damage was just nerfed by 20% in the condi damage patch. Unlike necromancer scepter or Axe, we’ve received entirely no compensation for this.

Shortbow is now officially one of the worst weapons in the game. Seriously, try killing an Elementalist or Warrior or Thief or Mesmer or anything with Shortbow as a condi Ranger. It’s also incredibly poorly designed with the entire bulk of damage residing in #2 and the autoattack.

Today we got a buff to Warhorn 5, but not Warhorn 4 which is the skill everyone has been saying needs to be changed for YEARS.

And finally (I’m not gonna even discuss OH Axe at this point), we are still stuck with a dysfunctional sword autoattack that locks us in place. Imagine if Mesmer or Thief sword autos stuck them in place… I wonder how long ago it would have been changed.

Now what I’m worried about is that with this awful Heal as One change (which should be reverted, or have its functionality drastically reduced), Ranger balance has been thrown entirely out of whack and we’ll start seeing weird nerfs because of it.

I do appreciate that the devs are trying to bring Ranger back into the PvP meta, but buffs like this go about it the wrong way.

Also, what they did to Spirits is truly a shame, because the utility was entirely balanced in PvP and WvW roaming, seeing some use, but not over represented. They took that and destroyed it entirely.

They nerfed it nearly 3 years ago. The recent condi patch was an indirect nerf only, but I do agree it is pretty bad in all game modes right now.

While I agree with you for PvP, I really think buffs like this are what ranger needs to bring its DPS up to where ele and thief is in PvE. The quickness + 25 might achievable from this buff really beefs up ranger DPS in dungeons and fractals to a level where I actually feel like I’m contributing to the group damage wise.

Self stacking might in any shape or form is pretty much useless in dungeons, even below average pugs run PS wars & sometimes blast fire fields. War is one of the most popular classes in the game, the odds of not having one in a dungeon are low to begin with.

The quickness is obviously more interesting & cheesy, but in the current state of affairs it doesn’t do much either.

The pet change is nice, storm spirit will also see some use now.

How much is not allocated on the SSD? I suggest 10% if you are currently fully allocated.

If you click on the ssd magician picture you’ll see that over 50% of the ssd is free.

That does not address Allocation, just % used in your NTFS volume. Your drive is 119GB, you should de-allocate 9.89GB from the drive so that it can better perform management tasks and duties.

Edit attached a image of my 480G SSD and how its allocated under disk management.

Ah I get it now. Very unrelated to my problem, but it is something to consider, ty.

I would download the Samsung SSD tool and see if it reports the current status of what the Drive is doing for maintenance.

Lol okay, how would this cause my game load slow again? Especially since it only happens before the character select & I see no hdd activity what so ever during this extended load time? (I have/had the ssd magician installed, it was one of the first thing I did after win7 install..)

Download CrystalDiskMark – http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskMark/index-e.html

Run it and post a screenshot of the test reports. It will tell us if something is up with your SSD.

I already ran it yesterday and the results told me that it operates within tolerances, please believe me it’s fine. I know my SSD’s specs, it did not degrade much.

edit: I attached the disk mark results (did not even close gw2 to make the test), as you can see not stellar, but certainly not causing my problem.

Reinstalled it overnight, did not help. (used the old gw2 folder before)

Make sure your SSD is working correctly. Download CrystalDiskInfo and make sure its still healthy.

Did you do a COMPLETE reinstall of windows or just GW2?

And when you installed the new hardware, was the OS reinstalled or did you just leave it as is and let windows auto reconfig itself.

I did that before, my ssd is fine. The win7 install is 2 days old, only reinstalled/downloaded gw2 this time, because someone in my guild suggested it would help ..

It’s like this: hard drive led blinks twice then nothing for 30 seconds, task manager says “gw2 is not responding” for a while.
