The lightning whip one sounds fair although it would be easier if they could just fix the stow bug (if possible). Drakes breath (and other fire skills) also put on too much burning without any effort so those could use a little nerf.

The rest of these changes are just silly. No point in nerfing a class just because one build with a certain rune set is over the top. A nerf to str runes and doom/battle sigils would work better

Arcane power could use work since almost no one uses it except in really niche builds with elemental surge. Really anything would be more interesting than it is now

Arcane brilliance can be almost a 10k heal if its set up right, and its basically the perfect example of risk vs reward in this game. Making it ranged would completely negate the risk. Although i always wish it were somehow easier to fit in arcane mastery so you can get it to a 20s cd

Glyph of storms is another of our best skills, high cast time/cd but really strong effect. If anything id love the radius to be 360 instead of reducing the cast time, thatd make it a lot better at covering a point (sandstorm on top of combustive shot anyone?), without changing much in pve. (thatd actually make it a little weaker on bosses with small hitboxes but w/e)

Glyph of ele power is also great in so many places, but like blackbeard said the problem with glyphs is that you can barely even run 1 because cantrips are so useful. And if the universally hated d/d cele build with 3 cantrips works, why bother running anything else

Also going to add that this class has got to be one of the hardest in the game to balance, but recent buffs to glyphs/signets show that its being worked on. Hopefully by next balance patch we’ll see less of the cele d/d bunker build (so boring) and more variety

I don’t think Aegis works, I have a guard and have never noticed it procing, although that might be the “omg, get away from me” chaos of it all. I do thing the Invulnerability works though.

Dont think blocks work, arcane shield didnt either. Still its pretty easy on an ele, mist form + obsidian flesh + lightning flash, plus fgs, and make sure to hotkey look behind, and you can go almost the full time without getting hit (with some luck). But thank god the achievement is only 1 key, its such a boring and annoying area that I doubt many people will ever want to enter it again.

Pretty disappointing, one of the cooler maps that has been put in game and the mechanics make it so annoying that in a few weeks it will be completely dead for the rest of this games lifespan.

Go back and reread the full thing. It says if you que alone you will be matched with others who are solo, unless its slow and no one is queing, then you might be matched against a premade but it will not affect your rank.

Pve has patches like every 2 weeks and pvp gets patches about every 6 months.

Also the pvp devs are not the same people as the pve devs so its not like they stop working on the rest of the game just for this.

Seems like soloq is still going to be there, but itl just be merged with teamq and the game will automatically place you against other solo people.

The only thing i’m worried about is when there arent enough people online then youll get 5 soloq players up against a 5 man. They mention that it wont have a big effect on your ranking but that wont make it any less boring to get steamrolled 3 matches in a row.

As long as skyhammer isnt included in the new ranked arena rotation this will be the best patch we’ve had in 2 years.

Put them in boxes with a fixed price and don`t have us jump through several RNG hoops to maybe get something we would easily pay for.

They are available for fixed prices (well after market fluctuations, but new skins are usually steady for a few weeks), open the trading post and search for the weapon you want and you can buy it with a set amount of gold.

Black lion keys are there if you want to gamble, otherwise you can spend $10 to get 80ish gold (or just earn that in game) and buy it off the TP.

Just print up a fake boxed expansion cover and on it list all of the things that have been put in game the last year, then give it to them as a gift along with a 10$ gem card so they can buy the parts of the story they missed. As long as they dont regularly read the forums they will never know the difference.

You cant exactly blame them. People ask for more content and faster patches, but if anything is suggested to bring in more income which would allow more development people complain even louder. At least staying silent means all people can do is speculate.

I hope they put something like this in game even if it makes the 10% of the population that rages about this quit.

Someone really ought to make a tutorial video on how to earn gold in game and then use said gold to buy things off the trading post without ever touching a credit card. Seems people still havent mastered that part of the game yet.

This one time, i found this npc in lions arch that let me view this mysterious mini game that showed a bunch of pictures of shiny items, and I clicked on one, and hit take all, and somehow the legend appeared in my bag almost immediately afterwards!

It was all very confusing and i misplaced 1200 gold at around the same time (must have left it on the bus or something), but i still call that a pretty lucky day.

The end boss of SE p3 is good to solo even though its kind of a pain to get to him. He has a few noticeable animations to practice dodging but they wont one shot you if you mess up. You also get to kite the mobs he spawns while staying out of aoe circles and cleansing regularly. Just dont do it every day or youll get carpal tunnel from all the running in circles

The champ golem in the east of malchors leap (forget the name) is also good but probably hard to do without more people joining in.

You could try actually explaining this in game before the event instead of just yelling “OMG noobz way 2 fail the boss again gg scrubs” afterwards (not saying you do that, but ive seen commanders say similar things)

A lot of people dont read the forums or guide sites so theres no other way to learn. For the people that just dont listen at all, I guess just cross your fingers and hope they dont stay logged on for long

2 eles. Non-champs you can chain frost bow 5 for a 10s total stun which is long enough to kill anything. And vs champs you have enough reflects/invuln skills/dodges to never take damage, and if that doesnt work summon 2 earth eles and let them tank.

Plus you look cooler.

The defend events give 25. If you really want to farm you can stay at one for about a minute to get credit, then move to the next fort and defend that for a minute, and so on. Its cheesy but you can get credit for 3 defense events at a time which is 75 in 5 minutes + whatever you get for tagging other events along the way. 8 hours every 2 weeks isnt exactly a massive grind.

That or you can spend those 8 hours making threads about it to see if the devs listen. If theres a 1/10000 chance of them reverting the nerf its not much more of a gamble than people trying to get precursors out of the forge, so gl!

I don’t get the gear check. Really? It’s just insulting elitism that serves no purpose. If you want zerker geared, say so, but leave the “Gear Check” crap out. If I wanted to do dungeons and fractals, which I have 0 interest in, I would probably be very tempted to troll these groups.

You can go one step further and copy/paste the item # from the wiki into chat. Itd be hilarious to link ascended zerker armor in one of those groups while wearing rare soldiers gear. I bet 99% of those groups would never come close to noticing.

When it was brought up when runes changed in the pvp forum there were 1k+ posts against it in under a week. Say what you will about a lack of communication but thats one thing they listened to.

Also because 1v1 wvw balance isnt a thing and has never been.

If anything is confusing (and meaningless) to new players its leaderboards. At the very least the soloq ones should go. Can you imagine trying to convince a LoL player that gw is esports only to have to explain that rankings are still useless 2 years into the game? If theres no time/money to fix it at least get rid of it temporarily.

For tournaments probably ranger, necro and maybe guard are the least played.

Soloq is a little more rounded but necros and guards are still a little rare. There are also a lot less wars than a few months ago but theyre still common enough.

In a month or two it could all change and we could see 2 necro 2 guard 1 ranger groups, so just player whatever you like anyways.

Farmers seriously think that without them the rest of the game will not have enough population to complete events in game? Wow, well thanks for a good laugh.

And since a sample size of 1 is enough to prove a point, yesterday i was in a map for 2 hours, never failed an event and got all the achievements except 1 of the legendaries. Guess that proves it isnt dead after all.

Seems like a slightly more polite version of the other complaint threads about the chest farm being fixed, which is an improvement i guess.

Still no matter what arguments you come up with to justify you deserving to farm 10 champ bags every 5 minutes with 0 effort, rational people (ie the devs) arent going to agree. If they did agree then the queensdale champ trains or any of the other easy farms in the past would not have been nerfed.

So…. they joined a pvp match in the pvp portion of this game, and then proceeded to carry out some pvp against you (who was also knowingly in a pvp match), and that is a bannable offense?

As far as I know server rules that are placed by players are not =/= the code of conduct that you can get banned for violating. But I could be wrong.

The first 3 bosses were interesting enough, you can tell the devs were trying to make bosses that arent about spamming 1 in full zerk gear to kill it in 10 seconds. The fourth one seems like they ran out of ideas so they just regurgitated the mechanics of the previous two and gave it a ton of hp. But 3 enjoyable and 1 mediocre/boring bosses isnt bad.

If theyre really too difficult then join a group in lfg, as long as the content is new you see plenty of groups, none of the achievements/rewards require you to be solo.

Actually hitting the buttons to craft takes like 2 minutes while gathering the mats to do the crafting takes about 100 hours. And you can spend those 100ish hours in any part of the game to get gold to buy the mats you need. I dont see how it could be any more accessible.

Id be all for some token for getting specific armor pieces from high level fractals or something challenging, but this just seems like a crafting complaint thread in disguise.

If you could get 100% ascended with dungeon tokens or by zerging eotm then no one would need any gold ever again and the economy would collapse (its already struggling enough as is).

It seems likely since dry top got a reward track, but this armor set isnt even fully released to pve players, so dont expect to get it til the story is done.

If you want the shoulders right now it takes at most an hour to do each chapter if you skip the dialogue, i know pve is scary and intimidating but its not that hard

Also has anyone ever actually tried to complete a reward track just through hotjoin? Its more miserable then getting 100 soloq skyhammers in a row vs 5 engy teams. Not that it should be easy to get glorious armor but saying its easy to afk hotjoin for it is a terrible point.

Wow what a great thread! From this new information i traded in full nomads gear on all my characters for zerker and my dungeon runs are so much faster. And with all the free time i saved i was able to get a part time job, move out of my moms basement, cure ebola, and learn how to play yyz!

The NPE is fine, new players seem to like it and all the “veteran” players that complain about it seem to just be doing so just because they want to have something to complain about (seriously 1-20 takes a few hours at most, or 0 hours with scrolls)

The trait system that was put in place before is totally NOT fine. People get to 80 with 2-3 traits unlocked and have no idea how their class works, and unlocking traits is so miserable you have to end up buying them individually which is far from cheap. If the game needed a new gold sink that badly it should have been put in somewhere else, not in the trait system.

Go to metabattle.com, you can currently browse from 40+ working pvp builds. Making a PvP build is free in most cases, you should be able to try almost every build without spending gold/skill points (you can also pvp from level 2 so just make a new charatcer if you want to try a new class, you don’t have to level it).

Btw your descriptions fits ele, dps guardian and engineer IMO.

You can play from level 2, not 22 (basically you only have to complete the first PvE tutorial instance after character creation) Everyone is equal in pvp, regardless of gear and level. Once you enter the Heart of the Mists, on the middle-top of your screen you’ll find a “PvP Build” button. You can set your amulet (every stat you can gain from gear in pve is in 1 single amulet for pvp), rune, sigils, traits there. Pressing H, opening your hero panel will still show your pve stats, don’t pay attention to that.

You do not even have to unlock every armor piece, you only have to equip chest, leg and feet armors for maximum armor rating. Gear is purely cosmetical in pvp.

You can pvp at level 2 but he might be confused since the wonderful NPE locked traveling to the mists through the menu until level 20ish. If you want to pvp at level 2 you have to port from your home city to lions arch and then run to the asura gate (unless there is another way to do it by now)

I have a sad tale….I found “The Hunter” when I was very new and I wasn’t level 80 yet so…..I salvaged it. I remember seeing it, and I forgot I did it until the wardrobe update and it was in the rifle skins section and I then had a mini flashback of doing it. I hate my past self.

The funny part is that the whole NPE that is supposed to make the game less confusing does almost nothing to teach players about the tp, precursors, mystic forge, ect.

So sadly salvaging precursors probably happens every day to people who will never even know what happened. But i guess if the goal is to keep prices high so gem sales stay strong this is a good thing for the devs.

As to the op, if you really want a precursor then find a good way to farm gold and buy it outright. Throwing rares into the mystic forge is so much of a gamble you could lose 4k gold before you get what you want out of it.

I played a whole THREE soloq games the other night and all of them had at least 2 mesmers but no eles.

That much evidence proves irrevocably that eles need buffs. Maybe up the range of lightning whip to 1200, thatd be a good start

The Tp has always been full of oils foods and boosters ,this complaint is a total fabrication or ignorance.

The ones you buy with in-game currency don’t really matter as everyone can make them if they want. People are complaining because these boosters come from the gem store (which technically is their real money shop)… If you can’t tell the difference, I wonder who is the ignorant here…

If you havent found it yet there is a way to exchange gold to gems in the trading post menu, and everyone can access it at any time without spending any real money. 300 gems is about 40ish gold, which is pretty obtainable compared to food buffs (1g/hour), good runes (30-60g per set), ascended gear (500g), and whatever else.

Like others have said, wvw has never, ever been about every player having the same stats and gear, if you want that id suggest looking into spvp

I put in 1-2 hours a day in pve content which over a week makes something like 50g, while this week from maize farming it came out to about 400g. If anyone can look at numbers like that and say its fair (especially when a huge amount of players cannot do the same) then you have a pretty twisted definition of fair. Dont we have an “economist” on the games staff to make sure things like this dont need to happen to keep the economy in check?

I guess if this game doesnt define something that gives an advantage over other players as an exploit, we will just have to remember to check the forums/reddit before doing any content in the future because this will probably happen again. I still dont get how linen farming was an exploit when that also just moved gold around instead of creating it, but I guess the playerbase must have missed that memo where policy on exploits did a 180.

Pro: Ele animations are pretty cool.

Con: The devs only care about $$. Like seriously, I dont know why these people dont work for free while living off of government cheese in a van down by the river, just so we dont have to pay anything to spend hundreds of hours in game without running out of stuff to do.

Either sit in a city playing the TP all day long, or get a part time job and convert $ to gems. Excluding temporary things like the maize farm, those two will get you at least 5-10x the gold per hour you could ever get by playing the game itself.

What about something as simple as an ele with warrior levels of hp/armor. Gamebreaking and easy to code!

All of the people against this seem to be in a rage because it would hurt their pve setups. Which is understandable, but here is the easiest solution ever:

Nerf blasts and/or battle sigils down to 2 might stacks in pvp but not in pve.

I dont know why separate balance between the game modes was never a thing (maybe it would have been too confusing to new players just like leveling was), but it would help so many issues.

Great idea, except for the fact that it wouldnt do a thing to classes not based on autos. So basically all those thieves running fire/air sigils would move to doing it on s/f eles.

Id rather a choice to get a black lion scrap than these pieces anyway, itd help people who dont like those skins (which are pretty ugly looking), and give casual players more incentive to play more.

Just because the .01% of the population that farms ap can appreciate a goal set over 3 years (more like 5-6 for casual players) it doesnt mean that the rest of the playerbase can too. And for a game where one of the biggest complaints is lack of content, putting something big behind a 5 year long timegate isnt a great way to retain players.

But hey, who cares about player retention, as long as ap hunters can feel exclusive then this game can be written off as a major success.

If you already have the clovers and most of the other account bound stuff then you could keep making it but sell it afterwards. That or make a different legendary depending on which one has a cheaper precursor compared to its sell price (bifrost sells for 4000 from a 1300 pre last time i checked).

Or just remove hotjoin entirely and replace it with an unranked version on soloq that only people below rank 20 can join.

Celestial armor with zerk/cav/knights trinkets works great in any part of the game as long as you dont want to do harcore dungeon speed runs every night. You do less damage than full zerk but it gives you room to learn fights, and who really cares if a run takes 15 minutes instead of 12. Once you get better at the game and learn every dungeon path then it might be worth getting a full set of zerk gear for speed runs, but doing it the second you hit 80 is not a good idea.

Runes is up to you, divinity/traveler work well, strength is also good but its expensive, flame legion or fury are good alternatives if youre low on gold. Battle and energy sigils are also expensive but really useful.

Having multiple weapons would help, itd be worth making a soldiers staff for large scale wvw/pve, a zerker dagger/focus for fights you know, and probably a celestial dagger/focus for harder fights or wvw.

Gw2 tournaments get maybe 1k viewers

If league added 300m in microtransaction revenue over the last year they must be doing something right.

For all people say that 90% of the devs focus is on the gem store there is still a surprisingly small amount of things you can buy for a 2 year old game.

Well i guess playing without traits is this games version of hard mode people have occasionally asked for. Maybe that was the intent all along.
