Zealot does indeed have power/precision/healing, what I meant was healing as primary, but yea, Zealot gear is probably the closest to “reasonable healing gear” you can get with the current system.
Unfortunately there is currently no Zealot/Keeper ascended trinkets available in game, only armor

Best exemple you can find. They are 3, one of them is a healing guardian and they still do fractal faster than most pugs. Not saying that it’s the best way to do it, but it’s an easier way to do it and the speed is still more than decent.
I am playing healing guardian in that video and I can concur that it might be not the fastest theoretical way of doing FOTM trios (for records and showing off purposes) but it definitely pays off on a long run because you minimize the risk of wiping and resetting encounter.
That team comp was theory-crafted as a farm comp, not as a record run comp. In my opinion it is important to distinguish these terms. Are you looking for consistent fast runs or you are OK with wiping for hours trying to achieve the best time possible?
On my channel I have a few videos showing full FOTM 50 runs with healing guardian and they all take about 30 min or less depending on roll (Cliffside and Mai Trin being the longest fractals). All those videos were taken back to back and just show consistent result that you may achieve using that strategy. I stopped making videos because we pretty much showed off all the tactics we use and there is nothing else to that.
On a side note: I do not think healing guardian is a good option for regular 5man dungeons just because with current damage multipliers bosses do not last long enough and dungeons basically come down to “how fast you can run or portal from point A to point B”.
Any type of healing really shines when
- fights actually last longer than 15sec
- there is unavoidable or hardly avoidable damage that you have to sustain
- there is a boss that you dont wanna kite around losing all your AoE damage
- there are some additional mechanics to the fight other than “kill it” (running hammer to hit the seal, invulnerability phases, dredge cage etc)
- Dredge:
It’s done using consumables, that’s already shaky ground, but do you think pug engineers know that skip? And even if they do, the rest of the party does? And even then, that they all have the consumables for it? All in an LFG party? That just won’t happen. Don’t forget, we’re talking about accepting random engineers into pugs.
That run still also takes half the time with thief, is a lot more failsafe since you instantly open 2nd gate with a teleport and do Haste+SR on console.
- Ascalon:
Showing them “skipping” when they get the shortest path which requires a single blast proves nothing. If they had to go on a long road, which is the case ~80% of the time, they would have to sit around waiting for Smoke Bomb to recharge, or run through without stealth, which is messy in pug parties as hell.
Those videos are just examples, I’m too lazy to look for more. All paths in Urban fractal can be done with engi – you just have to stand in safe spotd for 3-5 sec to wait for bomb CD.
Basically your argument comes down to “thief is more straight forward” “pugs used to thief skips” thats why they don’t mess up. It all is just a matter of practice and getting used to
Two years ago average pug was confident that the best team comp for a dungeon is 1 mesmer and 4 warriors and they refused to try anything else. Trying new things is always fun trust me
Not really, definitely can’t replace an ele in terms of DPS and utility. What you could argue for is replacing thief, but the places where you really want thief are:
- Urban (stealth skips, engineer doesn’t have enough without waiting for recharge)
- Dredge (stealth speedrun strategy with traited SR)
- Mai Trin (permastealth)
- Jade Maw (SR for dark field)
Engineer can’t exactly replace it in any of those. And thief has faster Defiance stripping. I enjoy playing with a good engineer, but it’s not on par with thief, unless you don’t get any of those 4 fractals.
I would only agree with Mai Trin and Maw part (the latter is arguably an exploit anyways).

That lockbox will work similar to BL chests and you gonna need a key to open it.
The key will be sold by fractal vendors and presumably can be bought with fractal relics and/or new things that you salvage from ascended rings

Until tonight. At each burn phase, my game was halted to an absolute standstill. This has never happened in my entire time playing GW2 and it was only during the burn phases. I crashed at the last burn.
So I have to ask, what the kitten did Anet do to the game? One day, no lag, next freezing screens and crashes?
I think you should start with testing your rig before you blame everything on ANet. especially since other players do Tequatl just fine and don’t notice any difference.

We are still using cleric guardian in our FOTM trio runs and it works pretty well. We do 3-4 lvl 50 trio runs per night and full run usually takes about 30min, which is the same or even less than full zerk 5man pug
You can check out my youtube channel if you wanna learn how to play cleric tank and do block rotations with mace/retreat/courage/soa. It is extremenly efficient in trios when power creep is not so noticeable and bosses dont die in 10 sec, it can also be really good in 5man pugs. As someone else mentioned already – cleric tank guardian should NOT run AH. AH is bad and very selfish trait.
And for those who still delusional about zerk meta I can say the following.
The ONLY reason why zerk only team comp is so efficient is POWER CREEP that exists in this game and has been supported from day one and only got boosted with the last “balance” patch.
By saying power creep I mean the following:
Cleric guardian does about 1k DPS, full zerk staff ele with warrior buffs does 25k DPS. Which is 25x more or 2500% more. This situation is completely ridiculous compared to other MMOs. In other MMOs tanks normally do 2-3 times less damage than DPS players, never that coefficient was boosted to 25-30 like in GW2.
This is why most bosses DO NOT EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO ENGAGE IN COMBAT and actually be somewhat threatening to players – they just die in 5-10 sec. Not even saying that most bosses are very easy and straightforward – and they only do 1 attack per 2-3 sec which is totally dodgeable.
Of course in this situation there is no need for anything other than pure DPS builds
Unfortunately with the last balance patch ANet only made power builds stronger – they almost doubled damage output for all dps builds.
I have no idea what “challenging group content” they have in mind, but if they continue to support this power creep trend and boost our damage even further any kind of content that they initially consider “challenging” will boil down to the exact same thing: pre-stack might and burn it down in 5 seconds before it has a chance to fight back

Normally if you don’t want to create an instance yourself – you wait for someone to do so and take a prompt. If you attempt to go through the portal yourself – you can create your own instance and group will end up split between 2 or more instances.
If you wanna rejoin your group:
1. Use waypoint on the same map or relog to character select
2. Take prompt

But I intentionally don’t join zerk groups but that doesn’t prevent zerk groups from joining my “newb dungeon” LFG and then kick me or quit part of the way through because we aren’t fast enough. Reading and joining the appropriate group goes both ways yet all I see are elitists complaining about how newbs are ruining their experience and not how elitists are ruining the newbs experience.
Welp, all they need to do to resolve this situation (instance hijacking and kicks) – make party leaders. That way you will be able to “make your own group” which will truly be your own. People been asking about that for a long time too.
I have nothing against harder content. What I’m upset about is the notion that wanting to experience said content cold, figuring out how to beat it yourself, along with similar minded individuals, is considered “dumb” while following a guide outlining a particular series of “go here, do this” is considered “smart”. For me the enjoyment of playing a game like this is to figure it out. However it shouldn’t be so difficult that only players with hyper reflexes using gear that is BIS for that content can succeed. I’m not talking about making it easy for a crowd of newbs in white gear pressing one. But once someone publishes a guide then it devalues the content. It’s no longer “hard”, just tedious, go here, do this, win.
And an account bound skin and title is fair enough unique reward for doing such content, as well as the usual kind of loot that’s dropped from such content. But it shouldn’t be a higher gold per hour rate than any other team content.
I welcome your intent to figure things out on your own and come up with your own ideas and ways of accomplishing things. But hey – game is 3 years old, dungeons are 3 years old, fractals are 2 years old. Most of players already “been there done that”. If you wanna experience this content “for the first time” you should probably find like-minded individuals. The conflict emerges when people like you join “exp meta zerk blablabla” group and drag them down.
But the point is: What do you think, what would happen if you would get that exact shinie Challenging instanced content? The dream would fall apart, but you would have, what you wanted.
Maybe i’m the naiv, who thinks, everyone could work together, and not just special ones, in a truly challenging enviroment.
Wait a minute. You saying that if ANet adds some instanced content game will fall apart? How did you come up with that conclusion? We already have a number of dungeons in game (instanced content) and somehow game is not dead yet. Maybe if they add couple more dungeons it will still survive heh?

Mob DPS wasn’t buffed, so I assume the OP’s post is about PVP and not PVE.
I doubt there are any mobs that deal
4k per tick burning and thats just one condi.
or that apply loads of conditions so quickly that is a real problem. Conditions are a problem from players but not so much from mobs.
As such I agree with the DPS problem in PVP but there was hardly any change in mob design with the recent patch that could cause any problems
Actually mobs do more damage now compared to pre-patch numbers. I can confirm it as a guardian tank since I’m being beaten up by Archdiviner and Mossman daily and on multiple occasions. Damage was buffed ACROSS THE BOARD.
If you don’t take my words for granted – try lvl 50 Ascalonian fractal. Green team rarely died pre-patch to the last boss (they could only die at the end if dps was really slow). Now they die when boss is barely at 50% and not even in FGS mode. His sword leap never one-shotted ele pre-patch (was about 10k dmg) – now its a 100% one-shot.

I can’t believe this thread is serious.
All high level dungeons and fractals became a faceroll after 6/23 patch. Damage output effectively doubled compared to what we had before. Maybe that is not entirely true for low level dungeons like AC since they also changed scaling algorithm.
The fact is – all lvl 80 PvE content was trivialized after patch. Check new records – 1min instead of 3 etc.
Try grenade engineer and reflect poison! Hurry up nerf inc!
Just getting these out there so we know we are all in agreement:
1) Conditions seem a bit strong
2) World bosses are currently too easy
The problem with damage is not just condition or world bosses.
The problem is that all professions received 200-300 extra power compared to the old values.
That made all non-downscaled content very-very easy: CoE, Arah, HOTW, FOTM. Add to that the fact that we got 4 “bonus traits” and some traits were combined and became more powerful – and our damage output effectively doubled. I am not sure if trivializing existing lvl 80 PvE content was your goal but that is exactly what we have right now.
Just a few examples from my experience. I’m gonna speak about FOTM 50 3man runs with our regular comp: cleric guard + staff ele + engi. Before the 6/23 patch Mossman took us on average about 3min, after patch we got sub 1:30 pull without even trying. Same goes to Archdiviner and Ettin – I can confirm that all lvl 80 bosses die twice as fast as before the patch.
Currently all lvl 80 content is trivialized damage-wise. And doubling HP for world bosses only will not solve the problem – you need to double HP for all lvl 80 mobs or tone down the damage

But OP is right in one thing (even thou he sounds very upset) – GW2 PVP currently looks absolutely unattractive to new players since TTK has been reduced to literally 1-3 sec. There is nothing attractive to be one shotted by “skilled veteran players”. I highly doubt that would be considered a “skilled play”

I myself upvoted that thread too before it blew out of proportion and turned into pure ANet employee abuse – solely because I didn’t approve ninja FAQ change, I had no issues with $50 price tag or character slot issue. People crying about character slot forgot that in GW2 unlike in WoW you can buy character slot with in-game currency. Thus this complaint is absolutely irrelevant. You might as well start crying that they fixing condi cap and “forcing” you to craft sinister ascended set – is it another “money grab”?
Generally speaking this entire story looks disgusting. My opinion is that “community outrage” was instigated and provoked by small group of people. Most likely people from “rival companies” (no name calling here). Its pretty common for the industry.

I can see why you mad that people making some gold the way that is inaccessible for you and I can also see why you are happy and excited cause they face some issues with gold mail limit.
Today you are all happy and excited but tomorrow this sword can hit you with another edge.
You will want to buy some fractal to bump your level or get some easy daily rewards – and we won’t sell you cause we are all gold capped. Your best friend will ask you to lend him some gold to finish his legendary and you won’t be able to help him. Your girlfriend will ask you to help her with server transfer and you won’t be able to do that and play with her in WvW. You decide to organize big WvW guild and you won’t be able to accept any gold donations to upgrade siege. You wanna lead large PvX guild – and you won’t be able to organize any guild raffles. Then, perhaps Dungeon Sellers could ask for an item(s) equal to the amount of Gold they would charge. Just as in GW1 where certain items became currency. No limit there. =)
That seemed like a good idea and we actually tried to operate in globs of ectoplasm the week they capped mail gold limit. But unfortunately that didn’t work for a few reasons:
1. It was too confusing for new buyers
2. Buyers have to go to TP and buy ecto first before they can buy dungeons off of us
So this scheme adds too much hassle for buyers thats why they stop buying.
The reason why ecto as a currency worked in GW1 was that everyone was literally forced to use something as a currency since your wallet had ridiculously low gold limit by design. In GW2 ANet got rid of ridiculously low wallet gold limit that’s why I dont see anyone seriously switching to ecto or something else any time soon.
We do daily FOTM trios, 4-6 instances sold between 5PST and 9PST

So you seriously suggest that they should base their actions against gold sellers around unsupported things people do in the game?
Something being allowed is not the same as something being supported.
It is fully allowed (and possible) to trade via mail, but if you get scammed ArenaNet will not help you, seeing as you are using an unsupported feature.
This change does not really hurts gold sellers and on top of that ANet has another tools to identify and deal with RMT. But it does really hurt different groups of players involved in all kinds of activities in this game (which includes but not limited to WvW guilds, RP guilds, service selling, transferring funds between alt accounts, playing together with F&F etc)

Hacking is against the ToS while dungeon selling and any other service selling isnt.
People can sell all kinds of services as long as they find buyers. Dungeon selling just happen to cover larger audience. You can sell your skillpoints, karma, even powerleveling services. In GW1 people used to sell tours because mapping was painful for new characters. GW2 is a very casual game that’s why most of it is not needed. What I am saying is that gold transfer change ruins any kind of service selling and guild coordinated activities and 500g per week is in fact nothing.
If the goal was to limit potential income “per week” why not hurt TP barons and flippers? Trust me those guys have much more influence on game economy than any others. You can even safely state that they “hurt” game economy but no actions has been taken to limit their activities (how about limiting amount of TP transactions to 100 per week). TP flippers can literally acquire any in game items including legendaries without leaving Lions Arch and actually playing the game – and that is perfectly fine. However ANet decided to punish those who actually go out and play their game. Seems very odd to me.

As Lordkrall said, anet allows selling dungeons or fractals but it doesn’t support it.
Raising the gold cap for those of us that sell them could be considered as an indirect support of dungeon selling.Also they are not gonna discriminate which individuals should have the gold cap raised. That’s utopic. They have a pretty large playerbase and it would take them ages to do so, also plenty of issues would arise in the process of doing so.

This restriction is very annoying. Dungeon (FOTM) selling is literally the only thing that is left to do in this game due to the lack of new content (we all patiently waiting for expansion). And we cannot even do that anymore since all 3 members of our team getting gold cap in 2-3 days.
I fully understand where you guys coming from with this change but please reconsider the gold cap or do something else to help your paying customers (not RMT). This change not only affects dungeon sellers but also large WvW guilds and RP guilds that used to organize raffles.
1: I heard there was a way to dup the stones for the champ shaman regardless of class, does anyone know how?
any bundle swap works, most popular are:
- harpy feathers (everyone has it)
- bday gun (essentially free, but you need 2yr old character)
I agree this should be a toggle-option. For now you can use programmable keyboard/mouse and set a macro that holds CTRL down for you.

Actually they already have a tool in game for raid frames (see spvp team frames) so i dont see why “more than 5 people is impossible”. The thing is that their general game design idea evolves around casual open world content (everyone can join in/out at any time) which in return leaves no room for “hardcore” or “hard” content. If you make open world encounters too hard people will leave, also open world content heavily promotes leeching.
IMO they need to shift their focus towards instanced challenging content where people will play together with friends (if they choose so) or pugs (if they choose so). Current encounters like Tequatl and Triple Trouble leave no choice – you are stuck with pugs/afkers/leechers no matter what.
How about Keeper’s Trinkets ANET? They are not available at all
We run FOTM trios daily and sell it for 15-20g, run usually takes about 35-50 min depending on roll.
People mostly buy it for convenience and for an opportunity to get fractal skin/ascended box/fractal tonic. Couple of our buyers already got fractal tonic which cannot otherwise be bought on TP . I guess people who dont wanna spend hours wiping in pugs find this service a good investment.

In all seriousness ANet should learn some lessons from GW1 dungeons.
1. Dungeon keys – so you actually have to derail and grab the key instead of just rushing to the end boss
2. Hidden chests all over the dungeon in random spots – so people have an incentive to go explore the place
They do have speedclear tactics in GW1 which pretty much means the same as in GW2 (except its actually more fun
) but all those chests and keys leave the room for casual runners too. GW2 dungeons leave no room for casual runners or explorers – since the last boss is the only reward.
I find Bunny ears, Aviator glasses etc more immersion breaking than SAB ever was

That sounds like a very severe exploit I suggest you to report it to ANet directly.
Playing with “bad players” can be very frustrating sometimes but the thing is that “bad player” or “personal performance” is a very subjective thing. And realistically you cannot measure personal performance with any objective metrics – too many factors should be taken into consideration. If you introduce any kind of automated metrics system and start rewarding for that – players will find a way to exploit it to their advantage (i.e. if it’s a max damage metrics – everyone gonna play staff eles etc.). This will literally ruin any kind of teamwork.
Instead of punishing people for being bad game should reward em for being good. Being good not only means highest damage but also how helpful you were. I can think of 3 basic things that ANet can introduce without too much of an effort from their part
1. Bonus chests for completing encounters fast enough or under certain conditions. They already have bonus chest in grawl fractal rewarding you if you didnt lose any prisoner. You can also reward for fast kill/no downed state/evading certain attack etc.
2. MVP system. Let players vote at the end of each dungeon path and choose whoever they think was more of a help to the group. This will work better than any automated metrics system.
3. Bonus reward for completing dungeon through LFG system. This will help greatly with “spreading knowledge” about the game since it will encourage experienced premades to use LFG and teach other people their ways of doing dungeons
