Just roam over to a tower and wait for a necro, ele thief to roll by and press the rapid fire button. (Be 100% crit, power and crit multiplier specced.) If they survive run out and do the rooty elite skill and pew pew them a couple more times.

I actually quit playing power ranger as it was literally an I win button that was reset every 8 seconds. Now my ranger is a trapper…and actually pure cheese as well…stand in 3 traps, let a thief attack me drop them again and watch him die. I’ve done this many times…Never even touched my weapon skills. Complete passive kills are the best!

Well obviously you don’t know me as I have nevered stated anything about eviscerate…but lets compare eviscerate to this. Does it track through stealth? Nope. Can you hit people from max range? Nope. Does rapid fire require you to engage a target for an extended battle to build up energy to use it? Nope. How many dodges stop an eviscerate? 1 How many stop a rapid fire 3. If I get out of range of a warriar can they use it? Nope Can I get out of range of a ranger…. Nope
So really thanks for showing common ignorance and allowing be to rofl stomp you in this post to demonstrate the lack of counter arguement you made.

The rapid fire skill is simply so imbalanced that any class built not to be tanky is simply a target.
This means a single skill nerfs all builds but tank builds. Even some classes main skill such as stealth as it tracks them into stealth. Even if you dodge you still get hit. You have to dodge twice! Then the skill recharges faster than 2 dodges.
So lets look at what is wrong with rapid fire:
1.) Its channelled….or is it…what channeling is going on as the ranger can run while channeling. Quite a feet to send rapid arrows down range while running at full speed. If its channeled then channeling should take place and they must remain in place.
2.) It does not honor stealth. You can’t see the person you are shooting at yet magically can hit them.
3.) Its cooldown should be at least the time it takes to regen 2 dodges worth of “dodge energy”…I say that because the notion is non-logical…I can run…but it takes special energy to dodge.
4.) Its range is way too large…really?… you are rapidly firing at a target way way way out there and hitting with each arrow. While it is invisible and has dodge you once?
5.) Instant cast with no animation to allow a counter. When the target gets a chance to counter they are already hit. Then they get to dodge twice and get hit once more. In any case you eat at least 2 shots.
Basically all of the so called counters either don’t work or require a special slotted skill to counter a basic weapon skill. This means that no other class facing a ranger can be a zerker because they are dead far before they can even reach the target.
This skill is really a game ending skill as all your competition has to do is make a few video’s on youtube to demonstrate what guild wars 2 is like. Basically just highlighting pew pew action at great distances demonstrating the ridiculousness of it all.
I hear there are changes which I believe will move the problem to even a worse position. You really believe speeding it up will solve anything? All that means is that I’ll get hit 2 times before being able to react. With lag I’ll likely just die and wonder what hit me as I take them all before I even have a chance to react.
I’m trying to stay positive and give you something to take away from this, other than this was a horrible idea, but really there is not one positive aspect of this.

Simply follow somebody and once there are X people following they get a tag while the follower count is large enough…
Make it percent based and allow 3 commanders per map.

Please tell me what is the point of matching a server against another server that outnumbers them by a dozen to one? Just to see one side totally run up the score? Oh I know it’s so that any new players who enter WvW are just cannon fodder for whatever server is on top.
Because the difference in ranks from first to 24th or 27 isn’t a smooth line, but a series of steps – some of them quite steep. Sorry, but it’s just like that. Couple that with the slight randomizer in the matchup algorithm and sometimes you get terribly unbalanced matchups.
Who would you rather be matched up against that you think would be fairer?

Anet should make transferring to lower-tier servers than the server your’e currently on free, while transferring to higher-tier servers should be twice as expensive as it is now. That would be a good start I think.
So basically if someone plays when WvWvW on their server is a dead zone they should have to pay out the nose to not have that kitteny experience? o.O

Actually they should make transfering to lower server 50 bucks. The implement the queues. They’ll make a fortune as people will get tired of waiting in queue.
This sounds like a bad idea. Say one team owns an entire boarderland, they can then just ALL leave that map and force any opposing team to only be able to use 10 people to assault the map, SEVERELY limiting how well that team can assault more than 1 objective, and the moment the team owning it notices something has flipped they can port 20 people in 3 min later, wipe the opposition, and claim their objective. there tons of other application a limit like this would make, say your team is assaulting an objective with 35 people, and there is only 4 defenders all with arrow carts and there rest of the opposing team cant make to save their objective, so they all just leave the map, forcing your army to only 14 people against 4 arrowcarts

As of now the low pop servers just don’t do WvW because really whats the point…we could just lick a light socket and have more fun.
im pretty sure most people will get the xpac. no one really cares about server imbalances when the servers are flooded on release. the WvW revamp will be either hit or miss…worse case scenario, people stick around for a month or two. best case, wvw gets revived and vets come back. im optimistic WvW will be better than what we currently have, just not sure if it’s going to be enough.
also new specializations will hopefully shake up the GWEN meta, or at least make it more inclusive to druids.
Spoken like somebody from a zerg server…I can tell you the lower population servers won’t be buying an expansion. If the expansion is needed for WvW the people will leave.

That is the function in C code that fixes the problem. If queue times become long then people transfer to the lower WvW pop servers…and it all spreads out.

Direct bow damage….shows damage…health bar does not move. Finally just gave up and found another target.
Well the thing is, you stay in your Tier, this happens. You move down a Tier, your now the dominant server.
Ehmry Bay moves up a Tier and someone from Tier 5 moves down, it’ll be even worse. Someone from Tier 7 moves up while ehmry bay moves down; nothing changes in Tier 6, but Tier 7 gets destroyed.
So what exactly do you want? The only ideal situation is to fuse all the servers together into 3 separate factions where the population will be the same throughout all factions…
Are you up for something like that or are you one of the players that holds too much “server pride”?
The problem isn’t tier anything….When I took this I was the only one on the map for our side. Our heavy population time is 30 people (all maps). The problem is that once you go out and get rolled by 5 times your numbers you go do something else.
How is this fixed?

The above allows you to log in if there are less than some minimum number of players allowed. If you have more than this minimum then you compare the other two opponents numbers and only allow logins if you have less than both opponents plus a allowable few more.
The call of this function brackets whatever login code they have now.
Its a simple solution that should have been done a long time ago.

Really the low HP is the main problem with thieves…not too many classes get accidentally killed but thieves do all the time. Is fun to shoot thieves with my warrior and watch them go from full to dead in one shot.
Is it possible to have an elementalist not take any shortbow damage for say 2 minutes of constant fire?
Said it was doing damage but the damage bar did not move….

Really the ranger is still sucky? ROFL…OMG if anything they are OP…actually no…they are actually OP. I routinely crush all other classes with my ranger in all situations. If I’m a power ranger then I look for elementalist, mesmers and thieves….thieves especially as they are free kills. Please stop posting until you learn how to play.

Not loot at all.
Most WvW players that want loot are pretty aweful.
The real reason is that server’s become unbalanced because of populations. When you have 5 times the numbers of the other side you crush them and take the entire map.
When you take the entire map…the other side just leaves.
When the other side leaves you can’t take anymore stuff…so it becomes running for supply and building stuff…
Once everything is upgraded and siege capped…you have only a few sets of weak monsters to kill….
That is the real reason.
Well still have no heard any official word why Anet thinks there is justification for my money to switch because of thier failure….I am waiting.
While the white sword removal was a good thing for small crews it could use some adjustment.
I suggest that the ratio of players on the map influence how long they are delayed. If you have more people or equal than the enemy their should be no delay. If there are 3 on one side and 20 on the other they should not show at all.
I personally think orange swords should show always when a group of 20 players is within a specifc area. This allows the roamers to avoid the zerg and gets rid of the advantage of zerging.

I want the Anet personnel to take this post seriously as its not a troll attempt or flame bait.
Given these facts:
The game is designed to greatly encourages zerg play.
The server I am on often has < 5 people per battleground . (Not at the wee hours either but during the day and evening hours.)
The gaming experience for me is running around alone or with all other players (yes all three of us…I’m not kidding.) Then when a group of 40 shows up its run away if I can.
So the game is “Hide from the zerg”.
I didn’t think this was the game I purchased.
Am I delusional about my expectations? Let’s see…

So jusging by the advertising screen I point to above you have failed on a promise to deliver an enjoyable game. Further to add insult to your customers…it is as if you are saying: “Sorry we caused the situation you find yourself in…but now you have to pay more to transfer to have the experience we promised.”.
Give me one reason how this is my fault and why I should be obligated to pay for a transfer. Really if I am going to pay money how do I know I won’t be doing it again and again….all …not my fault. If there was a lemon law for software it might apply here.

Yup the small team is nerfed here giving yet another nonus to the zerg.
Load balance number of players to disallow 2 times the numbers of the lowest server. Allow 20 in regardless the numbers. After 20 start limiting entry according to ratios.
Get rid of siege disablers.
Rework perma stealth thieves.
Fix all skills that don’t honor stealth.
Fix all the hacks and implement an anti-cheat system…which I can design for you and will catch people. – PM me.
Get rid of commander tags and allow anyone to be a commander, but only make the tag visible if someone joins on it.
Change PPT scoring system to dirctly reflect population ratios at capture time…meaning if you had 5 times as many people on the map then your ppt for everything captured score 1/5. If you captured a camp and where outnumbered by 5 to one then you get a 5 times multiplier. Zerg = sure loss in PPT.
Get rid of that stupid bloodlust bonus…again a zerg booster! Really find that decision questionable.
Get rid of uptick status (level < 80) and make everyone level 80 in WvW.
Get rid of WvW levels increasing base stats on players…only siege abilities should be made available.
BTW: None of these will be done….and you’ll see the results…
Here is why siege disablers ruined the game.
The matches were already imbalanced enough…
The smaller servers had to count on being mobile and quickly taking a tower before the zerg got there.
Now with a siege disabler you have 1 guy who can disable all your siege and wait for the zerg. If you can PVD then you don’t care about the disablers. So all they did was make a bad thing worse.
Seriously I think its time Anet started examining decisions and recruiting new blood for their design team.
I don’t really give a kitten about who is winning the ppt….my server always loses. I don’t want to be queued either….I just want to WvW in a large battlefield.
Here was my game experience today.
Log in and enter WvW.
6PM central.
5 people…maybe 4 on the entire map…
Seen 2 enemies.
45 minutes of a near empty map….
I’m not going to spend gems to find players ….
Horrible idea.
Fixes nothing.
All this does is makes the backstab politics more important.
Simply limit players according to the number of players. When that outnumbered buff pops…it should have queued the player joining until the outnumbered buff was not there.
WOW’s alterac valley had the same problem. They implemented this system and all was well. They did it in a months time. Speaks volumes when the solution is known and you don’t do it.
I’ll save you a bunch of time and frustration.
There are a myriad of ways that WvW can be made fun and balanced.
Anet does not care if you have fun.
Game “will be”/is dead by the time they realize balance WvW is what 90+ % of the people want.
They are afraid if someone has a queue that they will be frustrated and quit. This discounts all the people who face a no chance scenerio.
This isn’t warrior vs ranger discussion time
Simply RF in its current state needs to go.
This isn’t even a discussion. This is just another post with people crying that something is OP without a real argument to back it up. There are so many counters to longbow it isn’t funny. Even the people crying the hardest say they can take a power ranger in a 1v1. If the problem is fighting multiple rangers than bring teammates to support you.
The problem is not 1 vs. 1 at all. It is entirely N vs N.
Today I watched a guy who thinks the change was OK and also says dodge is all you need. He was playing a thief that was somewhat of a bunker build. He and 1 other are approaching 2 rangers. Here is the fight.
1.) Ranger A uses his gatling arrow gun and this guys double dodges and stealths.
2.) Ranger B starts his gatling gun up after dodge 2.
3.) While stealthed the thief gets pew pew pew pew’ed and dies. All damage while stealthed other than from ranger 1’s initial barrage.
4.) The other guy is approaching during this time.
5.) He see’s a dead thief and decides against it and both rangers target and destroy him.
Thief almost got into steal range.
Now lets talk about all those counters. Thief has 2 possible:
1.) Dodge
2.) Dagger storm
Dagger storm is an elite skill with a 30ish second cooldown…so a ranger can use the gatling arrow gun three times in this time. Once 2 dodges are done a thief can’t dodge for quite some time.
So in order to just survive the above he would have to dodge twice, then use his elite skill, and then stealth and then run away as now he’s used his elite and can’t dodge anymore. Meanwhile the ranger has essentially spent nothing and by the time the thief can recover the gatling gun is ready again.
Now lets look at what a ranger has to do to counter a thieves one button press attack.
Well the answer is nothing as thieves have to close distance. So they have to steal/step to the target first. This is really obvious as the thief disappearing from his position means you can dodge BEFORE taking any damage. Then if the ranger stealths…guess what…no damage…what if the ranger roots the thief? Again no damage.
So are you seriously telling me that another class has to have a certain elite equiped just to stay alive for one 8 second period? The 9th second they are dead because that one ability has 22 more seconds on cooldown.
The change is laughable and the above clearly describes why. Therefore the skill has to be nerfed OR OR OR…..as should have been done a long time ago…lets modify the thieve’s counters:
1.) Dodge
2.) Daggerstorn
3.) Stealth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don’t want to be nerfed? Get them to fix the fact that direct target shots hit stealthed players.
You stealth….and whatever the guy was going to do before you stealthed occurs anyway. Biggest baddest example is the ranger machine gun.
I find that most people hate thieves for one and only one reason. A thgeves ability to chain stealths and teleports around the map with no end in sight. This is incredibly frustrating for everyone. Even other thieves.
Given the above I would suggest that the stealth ability force players to either be a specific distance away from an enemy or simply make stealth exit always apply a 3 second cooldown.
I would get rid of all stealth revealing abilities because now its on every stealth exit.
I would get rid of the teleporting abilities all together.
I would fix the trait lines such that power/condi actually had some power related non-selectable traits…take a look they are: serpents touch, lotus posion and expose weakness. 2 of the 3 are condi. They need to do 2 things each one power side one condi side.
The critical strikes line actually deals with critical buff but no ferocity stuff. Again should be both things.
The shadow arts line goes away completely.
Acrobatics goes away too.
Also delete trickary.
Replace the three above lines with:

Melee specialization
Disarms, parry, stuns, expose weakness
==
Range specialization
Dust cloud, dodging increase shortbow range, snares
==
Traps
To save a bunch of coding I would re-use some of the casting classes abilities AOE abilities.
Then to replace the teleports etc simply by giving a sprint ability.
Just some ideas of what could be done…
And of course they are terribad etc….if that is all you are going to reply with save it.

i agree the traps do seem a bit week but you dont think with a little time practice and modifying your play style that the trapper thief could become close to as effective as some of the more popular setups? i mean does it just comes down to the dmg and cooldown right? because shadow trap used right sounds like it could be really good! and i mean condi thief is strong no matter what utilities it uses right?
No…completely not viable…really just stupid useless skills…delete them just in case someone accidentally thinks they might be useful.

Ranger are not op 1v1 but its to easy for them to do the damage they do from range. Thats why there is so much qq about them. Majority of players are not good but that doesn’t matter much for ranger in lots of circumstances.
Just pew pew from range and do a lot of damage if people get a bit close, stealth gs away then repeat. This is allowing lot of bad player that couldn’t do this kind of damage on different classes be useful on a ranger. Its to rewarding atm.
This is a good thing. People shouldn’t be able to just ignore ranged damage. They can adapt to deal with it or die and qq on the forums.
The are many other classes with range damage yet ranger lb is the one being brought up (a lot!). Its just to easy to do the damage they do from over 1200 that really is the heart of the issue.
It’s being brought up a lot by about 3 bad players, Skeletor alone has made 5 threads complaining about rangers.
And Jim has made 50 cazillion billion killion villion threads….
And usually just talks about people because he can’t defend such a broken mechanic.

Now its as good as a nike warrior’s single move….really disappointing to have such a nerf late in the game.

The fact that one can pull …knock people down and the trap people from this range is just stupid in that it promotes zerg AOE play. Pull AOE…pull AOE….no skill….just use an AOE on the guy that pulls.
The limiting of the diameter makes it less of a zerg tool.
