your credibility is very questionableyou are trying so hard to give people this impression that you are somebody
just because you are a “large” guild leader in T1, it doesn’t mean much in your credibility. in fact, creating a large guild in a large server is very easy. looking at your tags, none of those guilds have a strict rep requirement either. nothing impressive, really.
the ways you trying so hard to justify each different statements are also not convincing.
lastly, if you indeed part of the “selected” participants or have connections to those people, why do you create such thread or even need to reply to me when it will just make you lose more credibility?
Okay, good. Have a good day. If you have nothing to contribute to the actual issue, and are obsessed over who said what I am not going to discuss people behind their backs so don’t believe it and move on. I will continue to discuss this with the people who do know what was said and you can continue to make unfounded accusations about my credibility. If that is your contribution to the thread, I believe you stated quite clearly you dont believe me, so there is no point in further discussing this with you.
obsessed? really?
just to makes things clear, you are the one who claim to know something and when you are questioned about it, you get defensive about it while making yet another claim. when another guy question about that, you type a wall of text over it.
you are not really here to discuss or debate, anyone who question you, you quickly shut them out.

i beat a guy in ruby in duel
he ask me why im emerald, i say i got no luckBecause duel does not equal conquest skill? Whoever was that guy you dueled doesn’t know PvP much. I lose most of my 1v1 against better revenants and necros but I still win my matches through rotation and map awareness.
You can be the best 1v1 custom arena in the world but still suck at conquest. All other team has to do is match you against a bunker or simply outnumber you
and thus, u need luck to get good teammates in pug
#puglife
i beat a guy in ruby in duel
he ask me why im emerald, i say i got no luck
i dunno
there are things like common sense is very troubling and tough to teach while class related things can be easily learn via videos
ermm…..
the main point isnt abt dodging or blocking and then solve it
dodge block = use a skill or endurance bar
then u still have look out for other damaging attacks
though i personal does not have major problem with bristleback
As a meta dh, I routinely kill 3 or 4 by myself. So what? If none of ur team is capping, or they die instantly or w./e, guess what, u can still lose. Same when I play reaper or rev.
That’s why I say, MY MMR is not based on MY PERSONAL SKILL. It is based on my TEAM’s COMBINED SKILLS.
well, im using mes. i wont be surprised if is reaper or rev
but if i am forced to use those class to climb up, it also means the classes have big balancing issue
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
that doesnt make sense
becoz in the end, once i climb higher, i will meet up with the ppl i 1v2 and won
and with these ppl, fight even stronger ppl?
means i will continue to be eternally screwed?
#puglife
so that how it works….
but wait…if i can 1v2 and kill both of them and yet lose the game because it is simply too hard to carry 4 person while fighting a team that have common sense, what does that means? im eternally screwed?
there is always this topic, ppl dont bother to search
debating the same thing over and over again, not so productive
there have been numerous debate over rewards
some wvwers say rewards shouldn’t be considered in wvw context becoz is wvw
some wvwers say wvw should have better rewards to attract people or to balance the earning against other modes
i think there more people supporting the idea of having better rewards since good rewards naturally breed more participants and keep your wallet healthy
1) The problem is, because we do not know how gw2 is programmed, it might be difficult to bring back the old maps without causing any major bugs. The dev team also less incline to do so as they are focusing on the so-called WvW overhaul. Though I know a couple of people not wanting to go that map because of low FPS.
3) Making yet another brand new map means need more resources which again the dev team might not have that much resources to do so. If they did, it wouldn’t take them so long to develop and wvw full changes would otherwise be included in the expansion. I rather them focus on features changes as priority.
regardless, anet focus is now on that so-called wvw overhaul which i assume will be within 6 months? however, within that 6 months, many games are coming out and likely gw2 will lose more players to those games.
1) There is no programming issue bringing Alpine back, they just have their agenda out of order that it will fail rather than have the results they are looking for.
2) They are already working on another map.
3)No, I am not going to tell you how I know this.
They need to get it right this time, and by bringing alpine back first and now, it will go much smoother.
if u unable to say how u know this then there is no credibility in it

dont worry, there are times i managed to kill a beast and 2 guy at the same time, still lose the match despite getting top player of this and that or getting xx points for the team
i lost count the number of times i see zero pointer in the team
I’ve been on a team where I have scored the only points. Everyone else on my team just cain feed the other team running one at a time to the 3 guys at middle while the other 2 gank me every time I recapped home.
hahahahahha…….i just experienced that…the whole freaking team is zero point i am fighting 1v2 or 1v3 most of the time
i only got points becoz i am the only one going around capping and decapping
your idea of casual is how long it takes to obtain certain things
you can obtain exotic relatively fast
you can reach max level relative fast as well
you dont need ascended to do most of the contents, the open world surely do not require ascended
all in all, with ur casual definition, this game is casual.
in warframe, you still have to level weapons after obtaining them, here, you only level characters.

Hi,
Was doing “Deep Troubling” guild missions and apparently, there is a instancing bug.
After we start the mission and begin escorting. Any late comers or players who disconnected will not be able to rejoin the same instance, they will be sent to another instance.
don’t say TF2, counterstrike has way more players than gw2 and is already 16 years old
all they did was mainly improving the graphics and people still play it
however, u cannot compare FPS game to MMORPG
in MMORPG, people actually seeking for something new, is a RPG afterall, ppl looking for a openworld with plenty of interesting things.
there are some newer MMORPG in development are trying for this concept and creating a world so big and wide, without any loading like WOW but bigger than WOW.
i just notice that sos is now medium pop while FA which is very high pop is now dead last at T2 in current matchup
wvw current trend is towards shrinking
also, BDO is coming out and a few members of mine say they going there
wvw gonna shrink even more i guess
whatever so-called wvw overhaul anet is planning is way too late.
wvw is rapidly dying while pvp is sustained by the pve players who are there to farm backpiece
For PSU, you can check this community made tier list
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
the system wont be able to detect this well
becoz the person can juz move around to overcome the idling part
best is just to screenshot and report him via support
just now, i had one necro idling the whole match, right by the enemy spawn too
lucky for us, we barely win the match
i kept getting thrown into a team that cant even handle a 1v1
and if manage to win once a blue moon, is a 2 pip…that kind of team….
Today, I was literally holding a 2v1 for a good 5 Minutes and the team still managed to not win any fights on the other nodes. :P
It really shows how bad some players are when it comes to handling downed bodies (stomping, rezzing, cleaving) and how bad the positioning is. Literally just 4 ppl standing on top of a Node while being bombarded with traps, marks etc. No wonder noobs call DH strong. -.-°
yes, the funny thing is that if you are 1v2ing
they can come up with some silly excuse for losing 4v3, like saying you are not there =,=
i kept getting thrown into a team that cant even handle a 1v1

that kind of team….
For CPU, check this site for single thread performance, don’t use the pricing for reference. You should also take note of the performance / price ratio to get the best value for money CPU.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
For GPU, check this
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html
Do note that gw2 is highly dependent on CPU performance, not GPU.
Honestly, 500 usd wouldn’t get you much. 1000 usd will be more reasonable.

if u do it everyday, i think u will be able to get the sparks within a month?
u can buy ur rank using laurels
I don’t think you can do that anymore.
i see, i didn’t know, when did they remove that?
it is because DH is really easy to play as the trap and bow are really painful.
i remember playing DH the very first time, after a long break from my guardian ever since i got the champion title, my DH gotten straight wins, forgotten how many wins though.
DH is indeed unbalance since close range, there are traps, far range there is bow, both are damaging. not to forget that there is still damage mitigation from guardian skills. along with medi which was already a offensive build for the guardian prehot. it makes guardian too powerful in offense compare to other classes, especially in aggressive play style.
but the video dh seems really paper, i dont remember mine that paper. i can even take on 2-3 ppl when i pug rank. also, the whole video is just…bow……
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
I have been using this build before the patch and this build was already mentioned in the forums during the first season.
I uses gs scepter/shield though
How do you engage a DH that is holding a point, while making sure to kill him fast enough before he go reinforcements.
condition is the “in” thing now
or do u prefer raw damage instead?
In all honesty, “100% Rep” is really a thing of the past. If you are doing any content as a guild group, then all participating members should be proud to show the guild tag. If not then I would question it. With the ability to join multiple guilds for various reasons (raiding, RP and such) trying to force the 100% rep is going to hurt the guild more than it will help it.
“thing of the past”? if you are referring to influence again, i thought we have past that, this have been discussed numerous times, try googling
regardless, wheater it hurt the guild or not, is up to the guild to decide. afterall, if those full rep guilds are desperate for all kind of members, they will never enforce full rep in the first place.
also, i find guilds that are explicit about their rep expectations more honest than guilds that claim no rep requirements but kept on asking their members to rep.
u can buy ur rank using laurels
not too sure, helped guildies 5-men personal guild hall, didn’t use specific build, just normal pve dps builds
I’m just going to list some questions I have in the hope that some people might know of good solutions to them.
1) Inactivity – do you kick them or keep them on? I’m talking over 3 months inactive and roster space is not the problem.
2) The Zero contributors – They hardly ever represent or help the guild in anyway, but they might still be a friend of someone else in the guild.
3)The off lines (invisible) – they seem to always be set to invisible, you know they have been online as you can tell when they last logged in, but they are never “online”
4) “guild chat?! what’s that?” people that just ignore anything in guild chat and never respond or might once in a blue moon when it suites them.
For my guild, I have a list of policies or rules or whatever terms you want to call them and these policies cover most of the guild management stuffs.
1) We have a 2 weeks inactive rule though we only kick when we need the slots. We also send a notify mail along with the kicking, you won’t know if they return back to game. The mail will serve as a reminder what guild they were in when they happen to return to game. As far as I know, most guilds don’t mail when they kick you out.
2) Erm, we have rep rules so the rep isn’t an issue for our guild. As far as I know about no rep guilds, usually they kick people who didn’t rep for prolong period of time. However, I am not sure how they gonna monitor that when there are many people unless is a small guild. Of course, I think the issue isn’t really about repping but contributions, well, there are leechers, more than contributors. Normally we just keep them unless the guild policies say otherwise. Though you can hint them about it or try to engage them for activities but the latter method is more troublesome, difficult and most of the time not rewarding since most leechers continue to stay as leechers.
3) Well, just leave them be but sometimes they might not know they are in invisible mode. In any case, prolong invisible will also prolong their “Last Online” date, eventually making them look like inactive.
4) Well, again, let them be. Some people are like that, that’s why we rank them according to contributions. A lot of people join the guild for the sake of joining a guild because it is cool to join one or simply for the sake of guild missions or incase they might need something. Of course, you can try engage them but honestly, is not rewarding most of the time. I mean, if they never take the first step like joining guild activities and participate in small talk when in small guild group, most of the time, they not gonna be as sociable as you want them to be.
Most guilds want semi-hardcore or hardcore players but sadly, casuals made up the majority of the game. For my definition of casuals, please visit https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Casual-Semi-Hardcore-What/first#post5997238
Edit: You also need to consider what are considered as “contributions”. Some people consider participating in activities as contributions, if that is so, what kind of activities Because, in this game, people do activities, everyone does activities but you need to differentiate what type of activities or intentions when joining the different activities are worth to be considered a contribution to the guild.
Also, guild hall contributions are good measurement since it is literally coming out from own pocket.

Thats what WvW is for. Or suppose to be if anyone played it anymore.
wvw is more of a gw2 version of castle siege
in some pvp mmorpg, there is indeed such thing as invasion of pve maps. however, in those pvp mmorpg, before you can invade the pve maps, you have to break through the frontline and the frontline is the castle siege between nations, fractions or servers.
what gw2 did is removing random pking from pve maps.
Isn’t this thread interesting? We get to learn about the different perceptive of those terms. I have seen numerous people using those terms and other terms in a ambiguous manner when come to debate, argument or discussion so they can achieve a upper hand even if the whole debate, argument or discussion no longer makes any logical sense.
I think those terms, base on the context, can have really different meanings. When comes to a player context, not the game itself context, I think the difference between those terms will be physiological level.
Hardcore Player
I think this term is the easiest to define, most people will have the impression of a player that achieve the most.
Semi
I think is a toned down version of hardcore, tone down in the area of time commitment due to real life commitments. That is to say, other than any things that require a lot of time to achieve, they possess many or most of the hardcore attributes.
Casual
I think the main physiological difference between casual and semi is the awareness towards game community. Afterall, in MMO, able to work, help and assist each other in terms of group, team, guild and so on are very important. It is exactly because of one awareness to the people around them, one will then try to improve themselves, offer to help, more understanding and so on to make the environment more engaging and fun or at the very least, less frustrating for others. However, I think casuals really lacking in this area. Many casuals do not have this concept of give-and-take and in the worst case, utilize the take-and-take. To give some examples what I mean by being not aware of the gaming community:
The list can go on and on but I’m sure you get the idea.
There are also solo players but I find solo players as rare individuals in guild wars 2 because a good solo player will understand not to bother others and will make necessary exchange (trade off) with others while achieving their goals.
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
gw2 is a pve oriented game, that much can be seen from how the game is designed and the interest of majority of the players. and just like flesh wound said, the game is designed so. the moment they seperate the game into 3 different modes instead of 2, you already know they literally separate openworld pvp from the rest.
furthermore the game map is rather small for a pvp openworld, is too convenient due to the many wps
pvp mmorpg tend to be more grindy, such is to delay players from obtaining powerful items to wipe out your opponents.
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
But these isn’t just any label, game companies too design games to a target crowd while using these terms as part of their consideration of the crowd they are targeting. Of course, different companies too have their own definition of those terms.
For ages, many discussions, debates and arguments in this forums often involve the above terms. However, there is one major problem when utilizing those terms, that is everybody has their own definitions for those terms. Exactly because of the different definitions, any discussions, debates and arguments that involve those terms as the basis often don’t seem very productive.
To give an example.
“Casual”
Some people define casual as players who play few hours per day. Yet, there also people who consider players that play a lot of hours as casual because they’ve shown casual attributes.
“Hardcore”
Some people define hardcore as players who play a lot. Some people addon to that definition as players who spend huge amount of time playing and enjoy highly difficult contents. Some people again addon to that defintion by including gaming common sense such as team play and gaming etiquette.
“Semi” (Semi-casual or Semi-hardcore)
Inbetween casual and hardcore but this term is rarely used. Still, it is mentioned, but what makes a player semi?
The question to everyone is, what is your definitions for those terms?
Also, many guilds too often use those terms to describe their guilds but what do they mean by those terms?
i prefer SAB
…snip..
I suggest you dont argue with white knight you will get lots of infractions like I did :P You are playing their game
no worries, as long your argument is valid and on point, infraction won’t happen. the most is they serve you a warning for being too rude or harsh or using some very sensitive analogy
sometimes i receive warning with absurd reasoning and when i do receive those warning, i will just send a mail to the support and question their decision. sometimes, they delete the whole thread or lock the thread up after that.
the expansion is released in a incomplete manner, the rest of the expansion is expected to come within this year. well……expected but anet being anet, expect early next year.
Black Desert Online, restricted to regions as licensed by Pearl Abyss will not as in fact you think OP, make any difference to Guild Wars 2’s player base. The sheer impudence that a Korean gaming license forces freedom of play is not just denying basic new age internet rights for freedom but also touches on racism based on their licensed regions.
Make up your own free mind, BDO will not have my support ever.
as far as i know
their agreement on the region block is everywhere else other than east asia and south east asia, anything goes.
this means that BDO is made available to people across NA, EU, OCX. gw2 majority player base come from NA and EU.
edit: not only that, it is b2p which what makes gw2 stand out from many. that is to say, b2p itself is already very tempting.
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
In our guild we have noticed a definite drop in active player roles. We have also spoken with leaders of some other larger guilds. They have also noticed the same. People that previously would play a lot are just not logging in anymore. They are still around in TS, playing other games. I am sure they will come back for LS3. But as soon as that is done they will dwindle again I am sure.
I understand that this game does not have tiered gear progression. They don’t want your stuff to become obsolete. But, as a game dev, if you are going to do that you need to release more content, faster. People want either new stuff or to progress. Sure you can grind out a legendary and it might be fun for the first one. But it doesn’t make you any stronger, faster, better. It is just shiny. Anet really needs to up the production speed on new content otherwise the slow hemorrhage will continue imo
that is to be expected. HOT hype is just hype, it will not last. my guild had 100+ online at peak during the hype and now it die down to pre-HOT state. the number of people to recruit in the game is also noticeably lesser compare to pre-HOT. when large guilds too begin to shrink, it isn’t really a good sign for the game.
anet has been stretching the resources too thin, been too greedy and trying to achieve everything but end up not completing much. they made changes to existing contents when other contents are not really ready yet, this will result in players who enjoyed the existing contents and not satisfy with the new ones having no enjoyable contents to fall back to, this result such players to leave the game.
though HOT do have a lot of APs to do but not everyone are into APs. HOT do also have a lot of fancy skins but not everyone are into those skins. raid is nice and all but not everyone are into those legendary armors so they might only do a few just to experience the raid and stop. for these group of people, what can they do? if they are pve oriented, what are they suppose to do? so yes, like what you said, these group of players really do not have much to do in gw2.
I know people would really like to believe the game is dead or that the game isn’t dead, but there’s really no evidence for either theory. The only thing that matters is: are you having fun? If you’re not, then what difference could it possible make if there are 5 million people playing? If you are having fun, why would you care if there are “only” 100,000 playing?
Clearly you are not playing in WvW. It makes all the difference of having reasonably sized servers or completely empty matches. For many people WvW is only reason to play this game and nobody can deny there is A LOT less players now. For a game mode that requires massive amounts of players, that is very much a problem.
true, the world population status reflect that much. now, there isn’t any server that is full. they could transfer but some will think that why should they pay to transfer because of anet’s failure to have a contingency plan. some will rather quit than paying more.
I started moving up on the leaderboards during the “Great Content Drought of 2015”. Not many people are able to play the same game as consistently for years & years. Attrition is completely normal and not a particularly robust proxy for measuring how many are leaving due to any particular change.
Humans tend to try to build agreement for their ideas by using whatever means/verbiage they think will work. This is how we build our consensual reality. The underlying (mostly unconscious) assumption is that if Joe thinks the game is dying and posts about it, he expects others to agree. We also like to be right, so since he believes he is right, others should agree. This is generally why we see such posters dismiss disagreement using pejorative terms like “white knight.”
People in general also like to watch/comment about things going wrong, falling apart, failing, etc. This is why we see traffic jams on the side of the divided highway that is not affected by the accident. A lot of people can’t resist the urge to rubberneck.
On a game forum, there’s another motive. These types of threads sometimes seem to include either a desire for a particular feature, more content or something the poster thinks is essential. Then, the assertion is made that the game is dying and the desired whatsis will save it. The “game is dying” comments (or in this case, players are leaving) are a tactic to gain the developers’ attention and to — again — generate agreement that change X will save it.
wow, that some psychological stuffs going there. but i got this feeling that you are really off in some of your points.
you must be really hardworking, i didn’t even get 15k ap daily yet even though my ap now standing at 25k
u must be doing all the dailies before the daily ap combination patch came.
pve oriented players will continue to stay in gw2, though i already have a few pve oriented playrers quitting the game, citing changes bought by the expansion to existing contents as reasons.
while pvx/pvp/wvw players will be seen moving on becoz the stats of pvp and wvw aren’t at the best now.
Of course the old players are quitting, they’ve been playing for what 3 years now? Chances are many where just looking for the slightest excuse to rage quit.
I say this because it’s been my experience in MMOs that people typically only last 3-4 years in a given game before they become “disillusioned” and quit. I myself came here just before HOT after being disenfranchised with SW:TOR after playing said game for 3 years.
Old players go, new ones come.I find this game to great, and HoT seems fun. Granted I’ve only played this game since September. Give me another 2.5 years and I’ll probably be writing compliant threads and threatening to quit too.
there have been players playing wow for 10 years, why they didn’t quit? :|
a number of them quit after a particular expansion
a lot of veteran players have quit the game, in my own guild, i have a few members who played 2 years+ quit the game just because of HOT.
the game is noticeably shrinking
the white knights will continue to say the game is fun and all but the reality is, it isn’t as fun as they think it is. the white knights argument is centered on HOT specified maps while players are not looking at just those maps, but the whole game itself.
anet need to look at the bigger picture and fix all the things and complete the incomplete contents
personally, im also looking out for new games
rumor has it that it will come in 6mths but since is anet we are talking about here, expect 9 mths
kitten , post wrong thread
anyway, the section indeed is confusing sometimes since players themselves dont even care to post in the righ section, might as well just merge everything
