they are working on it but the real question, will anet get it satisfactory? lolol
i notice i havent give a proper reply since that sarcastic reply
if players stop complaining or providing any feedbacks, the game dev should start getting worried as it means not as many ppl playing that game any more.
so be glad that ppl are still around complaining, providing feedbacks and criticizing
this is real for mmorpg since only the group that complain or provide feedback cares but once you lose that group, you really lose a whole chunk of players
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
let just say that anet does not have foresight
they do not understand that all games will decline eventually and didn’t make the necessary plan to do something about large scale game mode when that happen.
i hav a rumour that the overhaul will come in 5mths but since is anet, adding another 3 mths will be safer.
LOOOOL
i didnt even see taht big word amd
but i7 6 cores have 6 logical cores under HT and only 3 physical coresWhat 3 physical cores on i7 6 core; are you speaking off?
Pic below, 3930k 6 Physical Cores and under HT is 12 Logical Cores.
i see~ i am mistaken then
im not that well informed of pc cores of more than 4,
@PaxTheGreatOne.9472
amd is making 32 cores for server iirc
anyway, all those cores are pointless for gaming since many games still do not take advantage of multi cores
for server is great due to virtualisation and running tons of kitten
but gaming we rarely use that many cores

seeing you have 6 cores, you must be using amd
i think your software automatically overclocked your cpu due to the new cooler
#IGot99ProblemsButNightCappingAintOne
This is why wvws gone kitten. Ppl always claimed changes are needed, but look at what happened when they changed the upgrade system and lord rezzing.
Wvw has survived 3 years with nightcapping, and the only server who was really affected by this is SoR. Things were worse also because some cmdrs suddenly decided to quit altogether. I say, leave it as it is. You guys are playing pvp and what you care is those three numbers on top of your screen? You don’t even get any kitten reward for winning
That is a typical point of view from someone who hasn’t read through this thread, let alone other peoples’ povs. Nightcapping is a problem and has always been a problem in WvW, which is also one of the core reasons why bandwagoners exist and also why people avoid WvW when they see their servers losing.
In theory, PPT shouldn’t matter, that’s true. But to the vast majority it does and that fact cannot be dismissed no matter what you try to say.
What is this “vast majority” you are talking about? I’ve been here since the glorious TCvFAvDB, and have been in many servers who have terrible matchup against off-hour servers like DB and SoS, and honestly, I’ve never seen any drop in playerbase due to those matchups. The only trend I saw is that ppl just became less inclined in upgrading the keeps. You wanna knw what keeps ppl away from wvw? When your server is getting stomped everywhere during RESET night. That reason alone is enough to scare ppl for the whole week.
I would have expected this kind of complain from a person who thinks nightcapping is the cause of ppl bandwagon. YB, Kaineng, SBI, and HoD never had nightcapping army before ppl bandwagon there, but you probably never knw about that
To correct you.
DB is known as a taiwan/hk server because there are a lot of people from tw/hk there.
SOS is a oceanic server, basiaclly aus and new zealand, I remember they hardcore advertise themselves as such during the first year.
SBI is a korea server, yes, it has a lot of koreans but unlike the DB’s, they don’t play consistently. Furthermore, their competing servers too have or had their own SEA crews so it kept a balance.
HOD was a former t1 server. It have sg guilds since launch so it does have small amount of sea there. Of course, over the time, it shrunk to near none.
So, in other words, SBI have their own night crews but nightcapping didn’t happen because their competing server had their own night crews. Likewise, for HOD.
The balance broke when the population lessen and people from all the servers want a easy way out so all start to look upwards, to the server with more population. This is like a domino effect, everything start to break down when people start to move.
It is impossible to “fix” this problem unless one literally restrict the matchup to timezone but also result in breaking up the community. The most they can do is to consolidate what remains to lessen the effects.
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
i get that you are complaining about people who complain….
wait…ermm..what…nvm
Firstly, you joined eotm for easily level, from that ktrain, you conclude it is a zerg fest, genius. Enlighten me, which MMORPG’s castle siege, invasion, war, etc do not have large number of players?
Raid isn’t hardcore, at all. It is simply nothing but gear requirements and memorization of patterns. The raid content is semi-hardcore at best. A hardcore raid content involve randomization and not fixed patterns. I can foresee large number of players, even hardcore wannabe will be QQing if anet really implement a hardcore standard raid.
The dungeon nerf and focus on raid indeed made quite a number of people quit the game. Dungeon is casual, if you complain it is too easy due to specialization, that’s where the raid come into picture. The nerf on the dungeon is a big slap to the casual population and a number of people quit the game due to the emphasizing of raid content, just like many quit the game because wvw is neglected (only children will be happy with that once a while “enhancement” to wvw).
PvP indeed is terrible, classes that have cheesy builds didn’t get their cheesy builds nerfed. Other classes that require some level of understanding to maximize the potential got nerfed. After the season, pvp looks more empty than pre-hot.
If night capping is a problem, you should come to T1 where there is 24/7 action. All servers have EU/OCX/SEA guilds in eb.
t1 ppl complained about night capping as well
regardless, such issue isn’t possible to solve, it can only be minimized and accepted, live and let live
otherwise, companies can chose to act like sk companies, make players register using their social ID to limit their accounts and limit the timezone disparity
which class are you talking about specifically and for which story?
wow….seriously?
u posted that video in wvw while using another guild as topic, it got deleted
now u posted this video while using another thing as topic….
u really want to increase that video viewership that much?
wowser…
Yet another guild member quit the game cause of hot #justsaying
some incomplete item
anet’s chocie of testers is puzzling
for raid, they get the top of the cohort instead of the mainstream
for wvw, they get the unrelated cohort instead of the mainstream
hot hype is wearing off, this is why people usually do achievements during the first two months of the new contents.
this has been already discussed numerous times, please do search the forums
is a legit business becoz is a trial account but this trial account is given free for life play time
but they greatly overestimated the worth of the game in the eyes of the players who come through via f2p. f2p has many other titles gw2 has to compare to.
try playing beyond pve
same, i’ve been using reshade, previously using sweetfx
it makes the game looks cleaner and clearer
So when the fart is ArenaNet going to optimize WvW? That has been the main thing I wanted to play ever since the dang game came out. I still haven’t experienced it yet, LOL
anet has to rewrite the engine to support multi thread as currently, the game is just using mainly single game loop
changing the renderer will not magically make the game multi threaded
while dx11 and 12 have better supports for multi threading, it doesnt means that dev has to use them.
dx9 too can be multi threaded by having multi cores processing the objects then send it to one thread to be rendered.
the main difference between dx9 and dx11 when come to multithreading is that dx11 supports multithread rendering.
bns is a old school concept combined with new age action based concept. it is not a game for everyone and it is slower pace compared to age of kungfu/wushu
Like I said in my above post it’s not going to happen so this topic need to die. If you enjoy the game then play if you don’t then move on the game is what it is. I play on my laptop from time to time and barely get 30 fps I don’t care I’m having fun. If you are getting low fps on a high end system then the issue is not the game but the way you have your system set up you probably have so much craptastic apps and programs running in the background it’s bogging down your system to where the game can’t run get the crap out don’t run a bunch of junk in the background while you are playing the game.
Gw2 is heavily dependent on single core performance.
All newer gamers’ dev understand that there are amd and intel in the market, so..many of those games are built with engine that allow you to use the most out of your own computers. Gw2 doesn’t, it doesn’t allow you to use the most out of your CPU and if anyone wants to further increase their Gw2 performance, they are to either overclock or buy a processor that has higher single core performance.
reminds me of nvidia gamework, games force people to purcahse nvidia cus of it
ITT: People with Nvidia cards wanting DX12.
Nvidia performs worst on DX12. Check the benchmarks. Tried myself in Ashes of The Singularity. I lost 2 fps over DX11. GG Nvidia.
You lost 2 fps on Nvidia in a game thats sponsored by AMD and coded specifically for AMD? Wow. Nvidia sucks :/
Hi, I’m really in love with this game since its release and played a lot of time, although the performance is not the best with the current Direct X9 version.
Since HoT is released, and much bigger and more beautiful and lively zones arrived, i’m a bit concerned about the future of this game in case of the direct x drivers. The game is so powerful and the big boss events are so much fun, especially the dragons stand, but it feels sad, that even on high end PCs it can only be played at around 30 fps.
In comparison to other games it would be nice if you could work on a updated engine that supports DX12 (and still dx9 for those people with freaking old PCs). I could wait for this feature until the next expansion releases but it is really necessary for the games future. The performance could be much better and that would make these fights outstanding in the mmo genre. It woud be the best improvement by far for a lot of players.
So my question: Is there the possibility to give us DX12 support with the release of the next expansion?
Untill everyone is using windows 10 no, probably not. Now if you where asking for a DX11, then that would have a chance of happening as it would probably cover almost all of the player base.
They don’t really care about the DX, they simply believed that having better DX will result in better performance. All they really wanted is better performance.
I think they abandoned the CDI. There were several CDI that never came in the end.
How many people are leaving (or likely to leave) the game due to lack of Dx12 support? How many won’t buy it?
And then compare that to how many people are leaving (or likely to leave or unwilling to buy) the game due to other factors, including LS3, daily routine, event timers, gates & caps, difficulty (or lack thereof), perceived lack of ‘decent’ drops, etc.
It’s clear the OP is more interested in how the game looks than how it plays. I’m confident, however, that the vast majority of players prefer ANet to focus on gameplay.
You missed the point.
He is complaining about the game performance and believed that dx12 will greatly improve the performance.
He then compare gw2 to a game with better graphic + performance. He then ask why a game has better graphic has a way better performance than gw2.
All in all, if you read the previous posts, you will know that the problem lies with how they design the engine and how the engine is not maximizing the use of the computer’s resources.
A good game performance will enhance the gameplay.
And you missed my point: everyone agrees that better performance makes for better gameplay. But more ‘stuff’ in the game also makes for better gameplay. The question is: to what should ANet devote its limited resources? To improving the game engine so that it runs more smoothly? Or to working on things that people enjoy doing in the game?
I would argue that once a game reaches a certain level of performance, any mechanical improvements end up being less important to the vast majority of players than giving players more game to play (including QoL changes so increase the ratio of time playing vs inventory|gear management). Of course, none of us (including myself) have access to relevant metrics that would answer the question, so I might very well be wrong.
tl;dr it’s moot whether this is about Dx12 or the game engine, unless performance improvements will make a huge difference in how many people play (and buy) the game.
Ermm, I stand by my point that you clearly missed the point. You were arguing about DX12 and graphics but TS was complaining about game performance while citing examples of better performed game. You were not arguing anything about performance.
Now, since you want to bring performance to your arguments, fine. You mentioned that people don’t buy the game and play it because of game performance (which you said graphic and dx12 previously /shrugs), sure, that is true. However, keep this in mind, people will get a “feel” of the performance the moment they start playing the game and thus this will affect the overall experience of the game. Like sirsquishy.8531 mentioned, HOT is more demanding than the vanilla game and slowly pushing the limit.
To give a idea how much a performance impact a gaming experience, if one’s FPS drop to like 5 in certain content, for example, WvW or some massive large scale event, that person most likely will start avoiding that content. How can you talk about gameplay when people can avoid certain contents because their FPS took a hit? So, if using your priorities, anet can totally give up making large scale events. Btw, I do know that people are running like 10 fps in raid, that isn’t even large scale event.
Now, going back to your priority again. I don’t know, all of them matters. A better game performance will means players will do contents that they stop doing because of the low fps. QOL and so on are also important, they have to find a balance. Regardless, they have to improve the engine performance if they want to continue to add more performance demanding contents.
Question: When will the update come?
How many people are leaving (or likely to leave) the game due to lack of Dx12 support? How many won’t buy it?
And then compare that to how many people are leaving (or likely to leave or unwilling to buy) the game due to other factors, including LS3, daily routine, event timers, gates & caps, difficulty (or lack thereof), perceived lack of ‘decent’ drops, etc.

The game population indeed noticeably shrunk, I know it because I run a large guild.
The number of people we recruit is much lesser than pre-hot.
Though the launch of HOT did generate enough hype, but remember, hype is still hype, it will not last.
There were many complains, incomplete raid, incomplete guild hall, incomplete scribe, incomplete wvw (they delayed the wvw core changes which promised to fix the population), buggy stories. Furthermore, there are new games, this give the complainers good number for reasons to stop gw2 and move on.
Naturally, those who just casually playing the game, they will play hot and disappear few weeks after. Those are the kind of casuals that vastly populated this game. Luckily for anet, the hot was accompanied with halloween, wintersday and PvP, thus the people stayed a bit longer. Now, with all those events passed, lesser people are in the game.
All in all, gw2 lost a number of veterans and the newcomers will not be able to fill those gap. Remember, among the newcomers, there are also people who play casually and disappear after a few weeks.
yes, the game is mostly single loop
anet took the easy way out instead of having to deal with troublesome things like thread safe, isolation and work balance
the result is poor engine performance and limitations due to it. otherwise, we would have seen more large scale events and fancy stuffs with better engine performance. the game will be whole lot more enjoyable and accessible to pc (even with poor gpu but decent cpu (4 cores+))
im not that surprise of their decision to take the easy way out once you look at all the past decisions they made on game.
nope
15character
modifying from engine is fine…
but the problem with anet is they did not improve the engine, at all.
they continue to use the old school game programming while more forward looking game studio already have parallelism in the mix.
even if engine didnt support dx12, the moment one start to implement parallelism into the engine, one will already see huge improvements.
the problem with the balancing is that they dont do fine tuning and only large changes.
what they trying to do isn’t balancing but to disturb the meta, thats what colin wanted anyway, to SHAKE the meta
they can keep shaking the meta while shaking off the players.
agreed, u r juz bad, mes isnt that amazing
it was fun for the side that had all 3 orbs
anyway,
if anet do balancing every month instead of 3 and with each balance as minor balance instead of major. it will be more acceptable. i do not understand the logic of 3 months major balancing with no minor balancing in between, it is like doing a large experiment without any fine tuning. i thought anet decided to stop doing experiments.
u cant bring back the population
for those type of activities, you are looking for PvE, not PvX
friendly? ermm….
u know, the +100 stats buff make lots of difference
the +100 can become +200 with the scribing thing
so what so friendly to attacker?
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
it is only viable in situation where theres no1 trying to cap ur camp every now and then
how old was this thread again?
dont see the point of having player housing
this is not OZ world
Soon, 6 months later…
lololololol.
kitten , many people telling me they went or going play other games.
Anet can take their time and let gw2 become pure pve population
i parked 9 toons at the flax farm, so far, i have gotten about 8k flax through these 9 toons
this also include flax gotten through wintersday chest
this also include very very tiny amount of flax gotten through openworld since i didnt do HOT much
so yea, it will take a very long time for 5-men to get enough flax to power up everything
You know…..gw2 isn’t that grindy…
if you think gw2 is grindy, you have yet play enough mmorpg
buying red packet now!
Some reasons I can think of.
1. The game is casual, want to play more hardcore game, too cheapskate to change game.
2. The game was great, anet focus on the wrong improvements, game got worsen but still want to continue playing because I made friends in the game.
3. I just want to rant.
anet approach to esport is wrong
esport games do not have balance changes with so much differences
what colin want is to DISTURB the meta, not balancing the game
esport games need consistency to the skill sets.
if anet really wants esport, they need to look into their balance approach
