It probably was simply a 1h sword build coupled with QZ/quickness + pets damage.
Sword autoattack looks like HS from thiefs, but it’s just autoattack against moving targets.
“Pretty much twice as slower” is a vast overstatement on how much MF affects stats. Furthermore, I’m not particularly lucky and can pull 2g+ an hour out of fractals with only 50 – 80 % MF. With current ecto prices, many places are >2g/hr farms.
If the whole party uses it that “overstatement” is not far from reality.
Fractals profit is based on luck since there is no money reward, you may get 2g+ as well as 30s
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
if i were to be forced to spend all my gold to get a specific set of gear or a specific class up to 80 just to party with your group that would not be fun and i probably wouldnt be playing with such a group or in a such a game.
Valid point, except you don’t need to spend any money to gear yourself on this game.
On topic, there is no “treshold”, it just depends on how hard you want to make it, meaning more wipes/downtimes…if it’s worth it or not it’s up to you and your “solid” group to decide.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
But people playing the Trading Post can make 100g+ sitting in LA. Yup, that’s fair.
This is being ignorant, those people are making money by taking it away from others, not by adding more money to the server. So if they can control the market good for them, that’s called being “smart” and opportunist.
@Ivanov Farming a chance drop is not the same as farming money directly on top of the extra loot you may get, so it’s not comparable to farm “lodestones” that you can get 1 in 10 hours or 5 in an hour to gaining 5g minimum on average plus some more if you are lucky with drops.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
the guy in MF who is doing the dungeon for loot, and not for tokens/ascended/whatever your personal goal is.
As long as the whole team agrees with having people using MF who gives a kitten. But, you should not be forced to play with them if you don’t want to, period. And that’s the issue.
If you like to use MF in dungeons…fine, but do it with people who doesn’t care about it. There are plenty of MFers, you could make full MF parties…not a big deal, drops everywhere!
The current situation looks like this:
“Could you please use normal gear, we are having a hard time doing this fractal”
Answer: “I play good, i will keep using MF gear because i’m good and my stats are the same, plus i get a lot of exotics and rares”.
You have to stick to it and bend over, since you can’t just kick him and invite someone else
That’s the definition of being selfish. It was an example, but i’ve seen it happen a few times myself where the player simply refuses to use normal gear even after dying plenty of times.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
You do that with your guild/friends, but do you realize not everyone plays like that? There are random groups, which probably is the majority of players so you can’t base your personal experience on the real matter.
You are obviously the one who decides what to wear, just like people should decide if they want to group with you or not. Is it fair that you get to choose and others don’t? That’s a weird definition of “fair”.
Skills on the player don’t matter on this topic, but by what you are saying…if i want to choose to play without gear i should be able to play with you since it’s my choice. Or as someone else said, i could use lvl 1 armor/weapon because i want to and you shouldn’t complain since it’s my choice as well.
What would you do if someone joins your party and plays with their character ungeared? I bet you would kick him…why would you? Isn’t it his choice? These arguments are a joke, and it’s a bad attempt to defend the statement of wearing full MF gear in long dungeons like Fractals.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
It amuses me that Sleepy only does 1/2 damage in his full MF set when no-one else is saying that. Maybe Sleepy needs to get a MF set which optimises his offensive stats.
I actually have explorer MF gear, probably not 50% dps loss but 30%+ without a doubt compared to berseker gear, if you compare it to any other kind of MF gear the result will be the same…a tanky build not so tanky or whatever you build into.
I’d like an Inspect trait for ignorant players. That way I can make sure no one with this mind set ends up in my group.
How strange…stuff like this is only been said about people who uses MF gear for dungeons.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
lol how do I contradict myself by saying I don’t care if people run magicfind? and to play the game how they want to?
and oh yes please add a inspect feature so u can waste your time looking for that perfect team. ..NOT
hey I found a 5th member to run fractals level 34…..inspects gear nope im not taking him, his ring has magic find on it…..spends another hour looking for someone at level 34
You contradict yourself simply because that defeats completely the argument of “you can’t tell anyone how they should play”. So why should you tell people they have to spend 30 mins more doing a dungeon because they refuse to wear normal gear?
Yeah, how hard it must be to find the “perfect team”. /Inspect, no MF gear…welcome to the group. Even green gear is better than exotic MF. I’d like to see how many of you actually have exotic MF gear and not just green jewerly/rare armor which is quite common to see.
People is only afraid of inspect feature because they can’t lie anymore, as i said i’ve yet to see many people who asks for exotic gear.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
I’ve run FotM in both MF gear and Pow/Pre gear, and the result is the same every time: situational awareness keeps myself and my team alive. Our skills get us through it, not our gear.
Trying to even compare level 10 players to level 80s wearing MF is a silly argument, by the way. Not even comparable.
The result is the same? Don’t tell me jokes please… Run the same 5 players with everyone using MF gear and then do it with proper gear, the result will be the same…“dungeon completed”, the difficulty and time spent won’t be the same.
The fact is i have full MF gear, wearing it halves my damage output.
I didn’t compare lvls 10 with MF players, but how is it any different choosing to not want MFers than not wanting lvls 10 in your group?
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
And continue fostering an elitist dungeon crawl mentality based entirely on ignorance? No thanks.
Ignorance is arguing that wearing full MF gear is fine and doesn’t make your team any worse.
Either way, isn’t it like that after all? I bet you wouldn’t group up with lvls 10 to do Fractals, how is that any different?
I rarely see anyone asking for full exotic gear to run dungeons, funny thing is that even green gear is much superior to exotic MF gear.
my opinion of magic find. I don’t care if you run magic find or if you don’t, its up to you.
play the game how you want to I really hate these threads about how your supposed to play the game or what to wear or whatever.
its a game people try having fun. quit stressing out about what other people do
Then players should have the option to check people’s gear, because you know…since you can’t tell anyone how they are supposed to play the game you can’t force anyone to invite MFers if they don’t want to. You contradict yourself.
Easy fix, inspect feature.

If farming gold was easier, those people would have the items within a short timespan What then?
Wrong.
If farming gold was easier, by the time you save enough gold to buy something you want these items would be more expensive.
When will people understand that if you want to get stuff easier they have to make it easier to obtain, not raise the gold per hour.
my group is at fotm 46 and 3 of our members are using mf gear to my knowledge minus rings and back piece for final bosses.
If they didn’t use MF you would be at 55+, how about that? No one said it can’t be completed using MF gear, it’s just worse and slower…therefor…pointless.
Making your team complete a dungeon pretty much twice as slower where you could have spent that time doing a farm that grants you about 2-4g an hour (you have to be the luckiest person to get 2-4g extra by using MF in a dungeon, like winning the lottery).
You can complete dungeons naked if you want or with the worse builds for each class…it doesn’t change the fact that it’s MUCH worse.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
I don’t think they will answer that question. It’s a gamble and completely up to you, it won’t be more expensive (unless mats price keeps raising) so it’s somewhat obvious to think that those 150g might be 100 or 50g once that build is out.
Unless you really need it, i’d wait if i were you.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Making 4g an hour was the best income Ive had in this game so far
It’s not so hard to understand, is it? If you complain that now you can only make 2g/h, what do you think it would happen if it was available for everyone to make 4g/h? Let’s think a bit, prices get balanced around the gold gain…in a month of Arah farm prices would have skyrocketed around that gold/hour therefor you would still be in the same place you are now.
If you get 4g/h doing something that is available for everyone that becomes 4g/h for everyone…therefor demanded items increase their price. Do you really think that making twice the gold people was doing a couple of weeks ago would result on prices not being increased?
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Yes, you can just “play the game.” And then your legendary takes half of a year. Sleepy, you’re not pointing out anything really useful. Fact is, ANET is pushing their player base to purchasing gold from those Chinese websites.
Legendary is not supposed to take a couple of days anyway. It has nothing to do with the arah farm fix, Anet did a bad move making T6 mats be used for ascended stuff (ectos as well) increasing the “legendary farm” much more than what it was.
Giving everyone the chance of making 5g/h wasn’t going to make it any easier to get a Legendary, in fact it’s much worse making the gap between casual players and hardcore players much bigger leading to ridiculous prices on the most demanded stuff.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
there’s no other reliable source of farming without hitting DR and next to no decent loot drops.
Says who? All you have to do is “play the game”. You can do some farm here, some there (i guess that’s what Anet wants anyway) instead of just sticking to “the most profitable” spot and grinding it until they nerf it.
You can do all CoF paths, all AC paths and some other fast dungeon runs and make a good profit, or farm events until you hit DR and then do dungeons.
It’s been obvious that Anet doesn’t want everyone to go to the “most profitable” spot, but instead switch in between.
If you want to stick to the most profitable spot to gain gold, then use the TP because that’s what gives the most gold by far.
Being able to do 5g an hour through arah farm wasn’t a good thing, if you think it was then i don’t have anything else to say.
Doing 3 full AC runs takes what? About 45-60 minutes and that gets you about 4g which goes back to this persons question.
When are you guys going to nerf the gold drops in AC?
It seems you don’t want us to make money at all and just buy gems.
Are you saying that should be nerfed too?
The thing is, you can’t do AC all day getting that reward because you will miss the 26s from finishing the dungeon…so it’s not the same at all.
You could however farm arah all day getting 30s+ every 5-7 min, it’s not even comparable.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Lol, it was already increasing before this became publicised, if anything it was just icing on the cake
Because dungeons loot was improved, not just arah farm. You could gain 26s before from a dungeon run…and now get 1g+…notice the change?
Getting more gold = bigger prices, face it already. Yes, demand on stuff increases their price, just like having more gold.
Being able to do 5g an hour through arah farm wasn’t a good thing, if you think it was then i don’t have anything else to say.

I guess agony res back pieces requiring large amounts of ecto to upgrade per tier had nothing to do with it.
Not really, do you think everyone is upgrading a backpack to get 5 agony? Don’t think so.
Also dyes must be used to upgrade backpacks since they are also at 15s+…guess not either. Or mini pets, or gems…yeah, i guess everything is used for ascended gear.Lets say 4 people upgraded their backpiece to the highest tier (250 ecto) that’s already 1k worth, as there’s a fair few who have. Supply > demand. This accompanied with the ban of large amounts of bots = higher prices.
The person I quoted was talking about ecto, not dyes. Nice try though.
It was an example about all the stuff that got price increased by 2x since the “arah farm”, nice try tho. Pretty much everything that has a little demand increased their price a lot since dungeons loot got improved.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)

These ectos got to 30+ silver because everyone and their mom was gaining 3-5g per hour when doing arah farm for example, if people didn’t abuse such things prices would be lower
Some people enjoy making large amount of golds. Some people enjoy saving up towards certain weapon skins/armor that require large amounts of gold. Let that sink in for a minute.
Nothing wrong with that, but still doesn’t answer the question about why is people so mad this got fixed?
It’s not the only way of making gold, so it defeats that argument.
Either way, in case someone didnt notice, more gold for everyone = higher prices on everything.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
What do you do in this game? I am genuinely curious.
Certainly not “farm” the same place for hours everyday…are you selling gold or something? Otherwise i don’t know why people is so mad…
There is something called…enjoying the game and playing it normally, not everything has to be about “what gives more profit?…let’s do that!”.
Just if someone still didn’t notice, exotic MF gear still has lower stats than normal gear, not just the lack of third stat.
I’d say 20+ should be free from MF gear, anyone who attempts to keep using full MF at these levels should be rewarded with a big shiny tittle saying “I’m selfish, let me leech you!!!”.
It was obviously too much so no wonder it got fixed. In fact, if i were devs i would make a point system for dungeons where killing a boss/champion gives you X points and you get X reward based on these points once you finish the dungeon instead of making these mobs drop silver/bags to avoid these kind of rushes to 1-2 boss farming.
Shortbow is a great weapon for power builds, remember it shoots two arrows per second so…simply a good weapon. A berseker build will have 50-60% crit chance, therefor one of these two arrows will be a granted crit on average.
About the poison volley, it’s not a skill that should be used in PvE unless you want to reduce healing from X mob. Poison is the weakest condition and the skill itself does poor damage unless you are in melee range.
Usually the only skills you will use from shortbow are 1, 3, 4 and 5, this last one is nearly useless against bosses so i rarely use it on them. Third skill is an extra dodge with 7 seconds cooldown if traited, and 4 is quite decent and gives slow.
About the pets, you just really have to know what you are going to fight…i have no problem using jaguar/hawk as main pets in dungeons but i switch to devourers when i know melee pets won’t do survive at all. Bears are very situational.
From markmanship you can take 10% more damage when full endurance and piercing arrows which are great traits, there is not any “must have” trait on the 30th slot outside the one which increases range with longbow (not needed in PvE) or the trait that makes signets affect you (not needed unless you want Signet of Stone, great skill).
On skirmishing you can get 30% more critical damage for pets, bows cooldown reduction and ability to throw traps (if you use any trap) or anything else, i like 30% mov speed for pets but that’s just me.
If you are going to put 10 points into BM you might as well throw 15, since you don’t really need that third slot from Markmanship and 5 points on survival is a “must have” to increase endurance regeneration. You will have 100 less power but better survivality for you and your pet increasing your damage output by more than just 100 power.
As for weapons, axe is “horrible” main hand for berseker builds, it’s decent for condition builds. It doesn’t bring you better DPS than ANY other weapon, it’s probably our lowest DPS weapon and the skills it has are more suited for condition builds.
Sword is great but risky/tricky to use, it’s our highest DPS weapon but you will only use it when you feel safe going into melee, i use it plenty of times in Dungeons and it’s one of my favourite weapons, coupled with quickness you can melt down anything.
Shortbow is/should be your main weapon in Dungeons, secondary weapon it depends on you. I myself switch weapons a lot, but longbow is probably my most used secondary weapon in Dungeons…barrage is great and rapid fire is decent coupled with quickness.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Later on you won’t have that problem since mobs tend to target you more often than your pet, but i guess if you have 15 points into BM you could just swap the pet and therefor lossing aggro (just a guess), you also gain 2 seconds quickness which helps melting down mobs. The 15 BM points are mainly to swap every 15 seconds, you can do it without any point into BM, just not as handy.
Aggro on this game is simply weird, seems completely random.
Even without flanking, I can’t get that DPS with beserkers gear and minimal condition damage.
Almost every class has available burning and poison, and since they don’t stack they are non factor several times
Full condition damage = 120 bleed damage at most per tick (just guessing, i don’t even remember but if i recall right it goes sightly above 100’s), full berseker = 42+ bleed damage per tick…3-4 ticks is 360-480 vs 126+.
Using burning and that sort of conditions usually doesn’t matter, because even if it stacked you would be stuck for 10 seconds using a weapon that does less DPS than shortbow and if it was a flame trap by the time the animation ends you could have shooted at least 3 shortbow autoattacks dealing more damage.
Now, a fight rarely starts with you being on the flank applying bleed, everytime you gain aggro you lose your flank position as well, in some encounteers you won’t even flank your target 30% of the time…condition rangers are not ideal for Dungeons. Even assuming that you can apply bleed all the time the damage would still be sup par to a power build.
Let’s imagine that you can maintain 10 stacks of bleed that would be 1.200 DPS + 300-600 from autoattacks = 1.800-2.400 DPS…and that’s assuming too much. If we asume the same on a berseker build it would be around 500-1200 from autoattacks and 420+ from 10 bleed stacks = 1420-2820+ DPS. Now…this is what happens when you can’t flank:
Condition build without flank = 600-1.200 DPS
Berseker build without flank= 1.000-2.400 DPS
You can’t base the results on the mist tests, because a PvE ranger has twice the critical damage you have on the mists.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
As i said, it’s a matter of taste. I consider 15 BM a must have (to me) mainly because it gives more swaps and less dead pet downtime, which is quite noticable once you go on higher fractals since pets have no agony resistance right now. I don’t have any problems keeping endurance full most of the time since i use shortbow 3 a lot and has 7 seconds cooldown if traited.
I can take the 5 -10 seconds to res someone, while still doing damage. I can be downed and still watch the damage tick away. To say certain builds don’t work, or this one does more damage than that one isn’t always cut and dry.
I don’t know how long your conditions last, but certainly not that much to make up for it. Each bleed ticks 3 times, make it 4 if you get all sorts of bleed extensions…if you stop applying bleeds your DPS is gone, so if you go rez someone by the time you get to that person most of your bleed stacks are gone. I’m not even going into detail about the positioning which is also a big downside to condition rangers, or the fact that in the time spent throwing a trap you would do more damage by using autoattacks. Conditions don’t do “extra damage” overtime, therefor your statement is not correct.
A berseker build will get raw damage instantly, with a condition build you will hit your target and seconds later you will get the damage done…so you are not doing more damage than anyone else while “you go around to rez someone”.
Either way, with 5-15 points in BM you can swap a pet and rez a downed team mate in 1/2 the time you would need by that matter, which is more important than watching a couple of bleeds tick
Also take into account that the build i wrote can also use “slow traps” to assist if needed, the best slow traps are muddy terrain and frost trap, none of them make damage anyways.
Just because you build a ranger with a berseker build doesn’t mean all it does is autoattacks with a shortbow, you can still support your team in many ways.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
15 in BM is viable, but not necessary. You can run 5 in BM and still do fine as long as you’re not running with a bird/feline and pop the extra 10 into WS. This gives you the prot on dodge roll and the ability to pick up vigor on heal. I would recommend this because:
1) More defense from stats means you can wear more berserker gear and less gear with defensive stats
2) More vigor means you’re at full endurance more often and thus get the 10% damage bonus from I in the marks tree. Of course, this also means more potential dodge rolls that grant protection.Pets are fine with a 5 bm investment as long as you’re aware of what they’re doing, are not glass cannon pets, and as long as you’re not using melee pets on fights where melee gets chewed up.
15 into BM not only gives your pet better stats but it gives you 2 seconds quickness more often or 12 seconds earlier a dead pet. That of course is my personal opinion.
about the defensive traits…it’s actually worse, putting into defensive traits gives you less offensive and valkyrie gear keeps your power/crit damage it just lowers your precision a bit as long as you just want some extra hp and not build completely into valkyrie which would result in having too low critical chance. I’m using full berseker, i have not many issues surviving except in certain places where a dozen mobs hit you.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
To all the people saying I should reroll a warrior, I agree. I already have a 30 warrior, but leveling is such a pain, and I’ve already invested so much time in my Ranger. It would kill me to see all that go to waste.
You should simply ignore the people who tells you to reroll a warrior, even more if the best damage spec they suggest is “traps and shortbow”…that just shows how poorly they play their rangers.
Honestly, the best damage as ranger comes from full berseker (you can mix berseker with some valkyrie pieces if you feel like you need some extra HP at the cost of having less precision).
As for the traits, 15 into BM is a must to keep your pet alive in dungeons thanks to the extra stats for your pet along with the 15/48 seconds swap, 30 into skirmishing is great and 5 into survivality is also a must to gain endurance faster leaving you with another 20 points which i’d put into markmanship for piercing arrows and 10% dmg when full endurance.
As you can see this spec is mainly shortbow/longbow oriented, tho you can switch the longbow with sword/horn in certain situations where you feel going melee is not going to hurt you much. As for pets, you have to use many, i myself use jaguar/hawk a lot, but i switch to devourers if i know the DPS melee pets won’t be able to survive.
I don’t recommend traps/condition builds for PvE and the reason of why not it’s simple, other classes can apply bleeds/burn/poison and since it doesn’t stack (bleed is capped at 25) it will result in a DPS loss for you or your teammates.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
I didn’t realize you guys had such an easy time with Warriors.
Why have numerous Rangers rerolled as Warriors if they are so weak ?
It’s because they can oneshot people, yet it looks like they can’t kill “the weakest” class ingame, sort of funny tho
The 100B warriors build is for newbies, any half decent warrior won’t use that build.
I would switch necro with engi on that list, and make them a lower tier (hard tier is not really hard, just average)
The first paragraph is also pointless, being R25 doesn’t make your point more valid than anyone’s else. Playing pugs in sPvP will still be playing “garbage pugs”, being rank 1 or 60.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Well, considering RNG is lame and you have to go through it twice to get a ring you want…that’s simply too much.
They should allow you to exchange a ring + tokens for the one of your choice. Currently you have to be lucky to receive a ring, and then be lucky again to get the stats you want.
When a dungeon takes over an hour, the last thing you wanna do is spend more time on it just for a very small chance of getting something when there are other places where you get more without RNG.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
@Sleepy.2647
Agility training is bugged, its only about 15% speed instead of 30%.
It still makes an huge difference
If the target is moving, the pet will miss.
I sit on “keep watch” all the time in WvW. To pass the time I’ll use the “guard area” ability with my pet, and set him out on the road to harass enemies if they run by. While I’m waiting, I’ll send him out to attack creatures that are nearby. Once he smacks them, I call him back to start reeling the creature toward me so I can shoot it. But to keep the creature coming, I have to tell my pet to re-attack a couple times along the way. This is where it is easy to see the problem.
Both NPC creatures and pets suffer from the same moving target problem. When my pet turns to attack the NPC creature, they run through each other, “rubber banding” back and forth 2 or 3 times before they settle in to a stop… Only then do any attacks land.
It’s also why it is so easy to just run thru NPC content if they are melee only NPC’s… They can’t hit you very well while your moving, because they have to stop for their animation. By the time the animation ends, your out of the hit box.
Really? Because i tested this and my pet hits the mobs just fine with no misses. You can send your pet and shoot once the mob to gain aggro, your pet will chase the mob and hit with no problem so i don’t know what’s the issue.
The only time where autoattacks can miss is when your target is out of combat…but in combat that’s quite rare to see unless they have something like thief signet + celerity buff.
Short answer: The ones that suits your build.
If you want a power/crit build then you should use berseker jewerly for example, or the one with power/vit/crit (valkyrie i think?) mixed with berseker gear to have some extra HP.
You can now find ascended rings doing Fractal dungeon above lvl 10 difficulty through the daily chest…it will take a while to find the ones you want tho
The easiest way to get the jewerly is to buy it from TP, exotic one isn’t worth much and it’s a good investment.
Put 1 GOOD ranger vs 1 GOOD warrior or actually any other class and you will see the difference in balances. I’m not saying the ranger is bad, I really like mine, but after making a thief, yeah, sorry but the ranger isn’t even remotely as EASY
Fixed.
What do you mean ranger was OP in beta?! It wasn’t like we were capable of soloing 5 people all the while dishing out hundred blade damage from 1500 range with pigs that crit for 8k eyes dash back and forth nervously as he tries to cover up the truth
Being OP doesn’t mean you will do these things, that’s not OP…that should be unacceptable.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
Also, making gold is easier than before, so more gold on the server = higher prices for everything.
Until the gold gain hits a wall gems price will go higher and higher everyday because people simply finds ways of making more gold.
There is people that makes 50g+ a day…so…wonder why gems price just keep raising
5. White Knights still trying to say/imply this class is good, balanced and not awful; especially in WvW
That’s because this class is good, balanced and not awful in WvW.
I agree many opponents in that video were clearly upgraded 80s or just bad tho. The thing is, people who needs to whine will find a way or another to beat down people who plays and enjoys ranger.
I haven’t seen a competent ranger for a long while now. It seems to be favored by really new players who don’t quite understand the game yet or really bad players who don’t understand just how bad the profession is.
In which category do you fit? Where do you find these rangers that get killed before they touch you? Anyone can go to random sPvP or WvW and probably faceroll any class that doesn’t mean that class is bad.
Yep, everyone that plays ranger must be either a new player who knows crap or a bad player who knows crap…you are right. Or maybe they didn’t play Beta with a ranger that was OP as hell and find themselfs doing just fine.
Mesmer is hard to kill for several classes and several builds, your argument is very poor. I’ve yet to see any competent ranger complain about our 1v1 PvP. Most of the complains go for the tPvP aspect, which focuses mainly on a meta team build being stronger than the rest.
Your argument is mainly the following: “I own rangers with my mesmer so their pet makes nothing”. Guess what, any decent ranger that still plays their class has probably has no issues in 1v1 for the most part…i don’t even know what kind of ranger uses SoH or hyenas in PvP.
(edited by Sleepy.2647)
The pets stop, attack, stop, and attack. The long range pets end up whiffing because the same problem as the longbow, the attack moves too slow and if you just stay on the move, it will miss.
Mesmer is a good example as any. If a pet is on me, I don’t bother wasting one of my skills to get away from it.
Pet stops, attack AND HIT. That’s what you don’t realize, you think that because they stop to attack they won’t hit. That would be the case if you could get far away during that time which it’s not likely to happen if you are in combat. Obviously the ranger is the biggest threat, so it’s quite pointless to waste a skill on the pet…which doesn’t defeat the purpose that they hit 500-3k easily on you (that’s far from being useless). Or the double knock-down you can get with two canines which RARELY misses…but you are right…pet’s are so useless.
Pet skills = miss most of the time against moving targets with a few exceptions, pets autoattack = rarely miss, it’s not that hard to understand.

I have been using my pet since BWE1 and he’s not wrong. I have also been on the opposite of the pet with my Mesmer, where I largely just ignore the pet as they aren’t a threat.
Just try the pet on the mist golem and tell me if they miss 50% of their attacks. You will notice that it’s the skill the pet cast what makes them miss most of the time, autoattack is fine for the most part…you can use pets that have no autocast skills and pretty much be fine vs moving targets, they obviously can’t hit so often but that’s not because they miss.
Mesmer is not really the best example to prove that statement since probably most of the rangers will use their pets (their attacks even) on your clones.

Yes, their skills cast time animations are quite bad for the most part
