I ended up with 10 locusts using s/f-t, you’re really going to need to sacrifice a whole family of lambs to RNJesus.
Adds Tormented Sylvari to friendslist
How long did that guy try to sell p1@tar? I’d love to get 2g for just soloing the Ancient Ooze xD
I don’t know, I swapped chars and did a fractal. Btw, it’s Tormented SLY vari tyvm. But it’s being rerolled to a norn, so the play on words doesn’t work anymore.
You can also just add my account name if you’d like.
Short boons in general don’t overwrite longer boons, don’t see why staff 4 should be an exception. Have you tested this yourself?
New boons overwrite the oldest stacks, same with old style conditions(Pre-patch, vuln still gets overwritten). So the first 12 might stacks are going to get overwritten, you lose ~7-8 seconds on those first 12 stacks.
I can’t even, I can’t odd anymore either.
Can someone give me a description of neckbearding, or like, multiple examples?
The first post about thieves having terrible dps and bringing nothing a dps group would want was a slight giveaway.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
My warrior is full ascended zerk, all weapons, all trinkets, and the gear has 3 pieces of assassins, from previous meta, but I still like the extra precision.
One guy wanted to kick me for not having “full zerk” gear. One of his trinkets was Masterwork (green) btw. lol
But was the masterwork piece zerk?
A — remove achievement points from being visible in dungeons or in party.
B -- remove the linking of armor stats within dungeons to allow for players to play support roles, condition roles, and etc.
C — disallow use of damage metersCreate a Terms of Service agreement that bars players from being able to do all of the above.
B: You’re telling me a zerker guard is unable to provide support or condition cleanse/application because of their gear? OR, are you asking that players be able to hide behind a mechanic without giving proof they are meeting what the other party members have requested be used in the dungeon?
C: I’m not sure how much you’ve looked into damage meters. But the ones I have seen so far do 2 things. A: Measure the change in a targets hp over an interval, and display that change. Which means it measures the groups dps, not the individual players. Or B: reads the combat log to determine the outgoing damage of your skills upon various targets. Which means it only reads personal dmg. Neither of these options give you another players outgoing damage. You could though, have 1 person measure the total dps, and have everyone but 1 person in the group measure their own dps, and solve for the missing dps, but I don’t think pugs are that coordinated.
A/B: In tandem with the ToS statement, are you asking for it to be a bannable offence to read the AP of another player or read a piece of linked gear while in a dungeon?
I don’t even know what to bring on my guardian’s bar as the 3rd slot in some fractals like the top archdiviner, pugs walk away from WoR, run in massive circles staying out of aegis range, I don’t even know how to support them with a 3rd slot.
the video in question
Part of me was disappointed.
Engaging into an argument with him would provide some entertainment, at least for a while.
Who was the second person whispering you? Did he swap chars or was that a friend who came to join?
Also sending mail to When Life Gives You will result in unlimited spamming of a stack of lemons to your person of choice(until blocked).
(edited by SlyDevil.3952)
“until the community has had a chance to formulate and standardize strategies”, 3rd post gave it away, would have been a zerk meta mention if it was recent.
How the kitten do you find these threads? It’s like a gold mine that was already emptied out, but you go on an adventure just to stare at the walls now empty of ore veins.
Tbh, this is exactly how I feel too except having played Archeage during the first few weeks I can say that playing trinity combat in dungeons honestly isn’t that much more enjoyable than waiting to play it was. Can’t even believe people cry about zerkmeta1111ing on here when it could be so much worse.
The hardest part of AA dungeons was the ranger in serpentis, because she’d one shot you if you weren’t hiding behind her with a max pdef pot on. The mage boss too (lehrman?) was interesting with his mana drain mechanic, really made witchcraft passives overpowered, but the dps race was pretty meh. AND prot wings, lel, gw2 pugs would love a 20second group invuln for half of the mechanics.
Check the mentor list for an EU mentor, send them mail or a whisper in-game and you can see when they’re available or if they want to organize a date and time. Be sure to tell them which dungeons in particular you are looking for(arah, cm, etc..) and pick up a couple of the relevant slaying potions to give you damage reduction as you learn.
Also make sure you select a mentor willing to teach a playstyle that suits you, if you ask for a zerk meta mentor and bring soldiers, they may be a little bit grumpy.
Schrapnel also works with the mortar and toolbelt skills right? On paper it seems like those can give you access to a lot of extra bleeds, but in practice not really worth it?
It works on any explosion, big ol’ bomb, grenade barrage, grenade skills, mortar attacks, bombs. But it’s a 15% activation chance, and grenade attacks are 3 explosions per skill, which allows it to take advantage of the trait much more. And mortar fields only cause an explosion on contact, which only procs the trait on the impact, not the pulses. Whereas fire bomb/smoke bomb proc the trait per pulse, as well as the vuln on explosion minor. So 2 bomb skills and all of the grenade skills make the best use of the trait and mortar/toolbelt skills are basically doing nothing in combat with that trait.
I can’t really get too excited about the trait, which is why I don’t consider Siege Rounds a bad alternative if you want the utility of an extra blast and longer fields.
A grenade auto hits 3 times * 0.15 chance, is going to give you 0.45 16sec bleeds(firearms GM minor assumed) average. For 7.2 ticks of bleed on an auto, pistol only manages 4-6(when traited). Plus the average vuln increasing the damage(6 or more as an average) giving you 7.6 bleed ticks average off the auto. You get easy blasting between ft/bomb, the extra duration blind/chill could be nice, but the poison field isn’t more damage than just throwing out auto attacks unless your enemy is healing. Siege rounds gives you an extra 0.4 coeff over grenade auto(? guessing, maybe more), with vuln making up for some of the difference, I’d always take the bleeds over the double blast on a 34cd.
Uhh… to be honest I’m drawing a blank at connecting the relevance to my post, I guess you just sort of misinterpreted me.
I pug 50/40 most days, its a nice change to have a competent group once or twice a week to not make me want to murder people.
Overall a little less grenade intensive than a power build, but grenades are just too good to not use for any engi build.
All the engineer builds revolve around grenades, because of their vuln stacking it has the highest effective coefficient for an engi AA, and because of shrapnel it also has the best condi dmg on an AA. It just happens to break your hand.
Also for pve, mortar chill plus freeze grenade will keep everything moving slow allowing all your grenades to hit with minimal effort.
ft/bomb/grenade/mortar with heal turret and a choice of weapons(i’d suggest rifle), take full sinister with aristocracy runes(from CM) take sigil of strength/battle, if you are able to stay alive and gain stacks, corruption is better than battle, in combo the 2 will solo cap your might. If you are in a party drop battle for either corruption or malice. If you are going through rotations well dropping battle for malice will also probably be better for solo play.
Get giver weapons, pick up some koi cakes and either toxic focusing crystals or normal crystals.
You can swap kinetic battery for adrenal implant in tools for passive vigor(tools). You can also swap Incendiary powder for modified ammo(firearms) you can also swap pinpoint distribution to no scope(firearms). A condi build will still have a large amount of pure dmg, picking up various multipliers from the lines will help that source, though it is preference on whether you pick up traits to reduce cooldowns or increase damage.(Mainly because I’m too lazy to redo the old condi rotations)
(edited by SlyDevil.3952)
Jerus I can’t speak on behalf of all of EU obviously but almost all of my runs have someone playing condi engis and whatever they feel like. If you were on EU I would have no problem with you doing anything you felt like in any arah or fotm runs with me, I actually agree with you it’s really boring to do 5 man overpowered setups to grind out all dungeons and fractal tiers every day. Precisely why I never do it.
But it feels so good to do a 50,40,30 in just over an hour once a week instead of taking 2 hours while a pug group figures out what to do after killing the first 4 chanters at the double seal. Idk why it takes ppl 30minutes and inviting a friend for them to figure out that killing off the first spawns on both sides is a bad idea.
Just like that fractal leaderboard?
For dem op 44 healz?
Only if they’re capping might with power main stat :P
Full Sinister Engineer: 15k dps
Full Sinister Warrior: 11k DPS
Full Sinister Mallyx Revenant: 6k DPS
Full Sinister Necromancer?
I usually just yolo when I pug and have never really kicked any1 ever.
Good plan, reduce them to tears until they leave, then replace them with other filhty dungeon elitists on the 3rd fractal.
At least we can say 3 years down the line we didn’t let them give us another necro without making an attempt.
I seriously don’t understand the obsession with guardians in AC. You literally have one fight where reflects are useful, the boss of p2. And even for that you can just 5 icebow him, or use any of the other random missile protection abilities that are available on every profession except war and necro. Anything else in AC is pretty much a cakewalk where just stacking heaps of damage from any profession is sufficient.
You can hide behind a warrior using reflect on block for that boss, only necro is useless
I had a group for coe asking for experience and to link gear, they weren’t specific though, so I linked 3 full sets of armour/trinkets as well as all my weapons on my engi, one piece at a time. Then the mes quit after one path because I told them subject alpha has no projectile attacks and he turned all my blasts into chaos armour.
Pugging, creating hard mode for dungeons since 2013.
Agree. If we “just wait” we will have another case of the necro. Class remaining terrible for 3 years with no major changes that are sorely needed. Once rev is released they will be less inclined to make huge changes to the class as a whole. Which is probably why necro has never been fully addressed.
But necro has been addressed, they created Rev.
Lupi’s autoattack? His dome? Did we ever find out if those were intentional or bugged? He also still teleports to the far side of the room and will use other skills during his shadowstep making the animations effectively non-existent.
Does the sigil still work on him for double phase 1?
Also focus is OP on ele, I carried a group with 2 guards and 2 mesmers and they thought it was just amazing how lupi was so easy while failing to notice my swirling winds every 12secs for 6secs.
LOL, that knight, once you hit the threshold for him, he will constantly teleport to you until he dies. He paths to you, then keeps pathing until you bury his corpse, light it on fire, kill zhaitan, kill traehearne and find an intelligent leader for the pact.
Why are people evaluating revenants without the Shiro legend and power scaling weapons?
The weapons they currently have available are the equivalent of the guardian mace, staff, and the typical ranged weapon which is bad in PvE.
Don’t condemn a class when you haven’t even seen the power based options.
Guardian mace is highest dps if you talk about camping a weapon on a non-large hitbox enemy? Scepter wins out on large hitboxes like lupi because of smite. And GS only beats mace for its burst off of WW averaged across the time you spend in GS, but camping GS loses out to swapping to mace for better symbol uptime and a stronger combination of AA + symbol of faith.
But yeah, guard staff, lolz.
When I polled pug groups on what they expected from a “speedrun”, about a year ago now, it was: skipping all cutscenes and generally trying to maximize damage for what ever the kitten build you were running. I’d have to ask around again and see how this has changed with people flipping kitten about the meta builds these days.
If you don’t want more than one weapon set, I think the best option was recommended as force + accuracy as a general pug set. Though force + night affects more of the dungeon paths.
As a note on potions, you get ~69 tokens per path completed, and you can buy a 1hr 10% potion for 1 token which gets you through basically all the paths for a dungeon, either ask someone for a potion if you forgot(and send them some later), or pick up a couple ahead of time from the dungeon armour section at the LA merchant.
So I pathed the mobs in arah p1(oozes), after sitting here for around 70mins they still haven’t returned to their spawn. I think distance breaks their pathed aggro point allowing them to return to their spawn. I’ll have to try dying and running ridiculously far away later.
But surely they’ve learned how to play in 1.5 years since then, right???? RIGHT?!?!?!??!?!?!?
Well, selling dungeon paths is wrong in my opinion, because instead of people using the LFG to PLAY with other people, to socialize you know (this is an MMO after all), people just use the LFG of Arah only to sell paths, so if people want to do the paths normally with others that are experienced or newbies, they just can’t because the LFG is filled with sellers instead of players.
“hurr durr use your guild members”
It’s not an argument.
Also, i don’t understand how people can fall for this selling thing, i’ve heard from people that they were kicked after giving the gold, because clearly that is exactly what might happen, the sellers receive the gold and then they kick the buyer.
hurr durr the lfg is filled with sellers.
Were you trying to say your first statement wasn’t an argument or the second wasn’t?
Looking For Group tool, literally says nothing about what you need to do with the group.
MMO Massive, large size/lots of something, Multiplayer, includes other players, Online, using dem interwebs, Role Playing Game, you’re playing a character who isn’t you. Also has nothing to do with what you’re doing in a group, or whether you even need to be in a group.
“what might happen” know what else “might happen” they might give you path completion, or you randomly dc, or a roc flies down and carries you off with your chair to feed to it’s children, or, or, or, or… Let’s play the what if game, it engages your imagination and is twice as fun as running arah with those non-existent groups
Btw I did notice that it’s not usually the first player to trigger it or the first player to get to the location, but rather the second player. I often rush ahead on Thief and somebody else paths the mobs.
Very true. I’ll test this in a party of three, to see if it is the second or last player that paths the mobs.
Edit: I just remembered another path to location type of pathing. SE p3, after the bridge.
se 2/3 the bombers after the first blockade
3 after the 2nd bridge before the water fountains
You may want to try 4-5 members to see if it’s first, last, or random selection.
Hit me up if I’m on and I can fool around for a while.
I have an alt called ‘When life gives you’ with a pile of lemons on it, do you want me to send him some chat links?
Found this lovely chat from a couple months back.
I wouldn’t mind making a video on it. Hell, I could even do it tonight, if I can get a tour going
Probably work out better than me, I’d either end up soloing the paths or hoping pugs didn’t run rampant.
i really don’t know how people can even stomach grinding borefest achievements to get 10k+ ap
Need them sinister trinkets from LS for mah engi.
And nomad for my lol ele, 7dmg AA are amusing in arah when you’re doing fancy rotations and pugs are amazed at the combos without realizing how slow things are dying.
Snowblind fractal has invisible swirling winds at the elemental source still.
Mossman is disbaled upon entering water? Should this be included, technically he doesn’t have the underwater skills to use. I guess the bug would be teleporting to players when they go into the water.
Arah p2 abomination does instantaneous leaps once in a while where the damage occurs at the start of the animation, not when he comes down, after it occurs it is fixed.
Arah p4 won’t make lupi aggressive if you select path after killing the 2 abomination door guards. Solution, mountain goating is bad, run the path in order.
SE p3 has some bugs with safe-spotting bosses and messing with the AI at the clown cart, they aren’t harmful to you per se…
Some enemies get an order to “Move to target” or “Move to location” when a player gets to a certain location.
Does the first player become the target?
I’ll test this later in cm, I think it would be related to npc pathing for dungeons/fractals in terms of the allies. Braham chooses someone to follow at molten duo, detha chooses someone to follow in ac.Does this occur only once? Can enemies “path” multiple times?
Enemies begin pathing when you first cross the threshold, after some period of time they reset their pathing back to the first place they spawned. See arah p1 oozes at the start, path them near the turrets, chill for a while and come back, they will be back at their original spawns. After they have been pathed once they will not path again.Does “Move to target” or “Move to location” break when enemies aggro? Or do you have to hit them?
Gaining aggro will break ‘pathing’. If you punch an enemy in the face while stealthed you become revealed and the mob will set it’s new base aggro point at the location it was when hit. If stealth runs out, the same effect happens. What exactly happens when you waypoint? Do enemies teleport or just follow?
I’ll have to test this more thoroughly, I would assume they teleport. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPHfO46i0js miku needed to bring all of the oozes to lupi, he probably has a better idea about long distance pathing. What happens if enemies can’t move to your location?
They teleport, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUYhbQt5g7Y skip to 7:50 and you can see me path the mobs up to the rock. This was also brought up in the hotw p2 record someone submitted a couple weeks back, they brought 2 elite mobs through a door with pathing due to the teleport so they would be killed in the aoes on the boss. What happens if you run too fast?
I’ll fiddle with this later, usually if I’m running fast I go without stealth so they break aggro quickly and return to their spawn point. Why enemies sometimes walk through walls?
An enemy walking into a wall? Or an enemy on the far side of the wall teleporting to you? When enemies reach their target or location, that location becomes their base location.
Do enemies return to this base location when aggroed and deaggroed?
The pathing for mobs is based on a player trigger(in this case, not pathing as in where a patrol walks). Yes, they will return to the place where they finished their pathing. However as mentioned above, after some set time period they will do a complete reset where they return to the first spawn point, not the place of pathing.Or do enemies return to their initial position?
Or somewhere else?
Both answers listed above
Responses in italics, question in bold.
I think how they can be pathed is straight forward, you need to let them catch up to you if you remain in stealth, or leave stealth and let them gain aggro.
List of enemies should be relatively easy on the paths run every day, I’ll try to record relevant videos, depends on if I keep working overtime.

Is KING still maintaining their’s with the split to HEX and wherever they went after that?
Absolutely no clue, haven’t seen a KING member to ask about it. I didn’t see a date for last edited, the current number of recorded chests is 6393, I can check in a couple days.
AP is completely bullkitten if you use it as a requirement for a dungeon LFG.
Dungeons dont give AP, hobby dungeon explorer has a 200AP cap, and other than that there aren’t really dungeon achievements.
Asking for a certain amount of AP in a dungeon LFG is the same as making a CoF LFG and asking people to ping 4 stacks of pristine fractal relics
I think the point is a person with higher AP has had more oppotunities to press buttons and try things in the game than a person with low AP. If you have 300 ap you’ve only played a couple days, or its a second account, you can only do so much in that time, I don’t expect a new engineer to cap stealth alone in a dungeon. A person who has a couple thousand AP has had the opportunity to press buttons and talk to people, possibly learning these combos, therefore there is a better chance they know more.
But it’s not an end all be all of judging a person.
I might be wrong, but isn’t the fire magic bug already fixed?
Last time I checked I didn’t see the extra 150 power added upJust looked at my ele, the equipment menu is staying at a steady 2758 unbuffed power regardless of attunement.
Take Fire Attunement completely off ( as in equip 3 other attunements) and see what your power loss is. Instead of losing 150 power from the loss of Empowering Flame while in Fire, you’re losing 300 power while in Fire and 150 power in any other attunement.
Ah, I thought the bug was in the 150 being incorrectly applied, not an extra 150 being applied.
