You aim the shells at yourself or an ally, not an enemy. Why would you try cleansing an enemy?

Projectile finishers(light): shoot projectile, projectile goes through light field, hits an enemy, creates an aoe condi cleanse around the enemy struck. You MUST hit an enemy for the condi cleanse to occur and in the case of mortar 1, the shell itself must hit the enemy, not the aoe it causes for dmg.

Edit: In your example of finishing an opponent, you would need to drop the field, then shoot the projectiles into the downed opponent to clear condis on allies near the enemy.

Sounds very helpful, friends told me tho that it ll make my life hell when playing other characters than engie. Is that true?

I ll give it a try of course but I was never a fan of berk due to his “not much space left for mistakes” issue.

Run knight’s instead, you can also blend in captain accessories, it’s the next best armour set for damage, and it gives you some toughness for when you aren’t used to tells/lag kills you.

Free camera is great on all classes, you tap your right mouse button if you need to reset it, it also allows you to use ‘about face’ and make all of your withdrawal skills go forwards instead.(Burning retreat, withdrawal, roll for iniative, staff 2 on a mesmer than I can’t remember the name of)

The trait doesn’t give you a buff, or the regen boon, you just heal a bit of health while you are wielding a kit.

You sir are a beautiful human being! This idea is gorgeous, I will have to try it as soon as I got time, but dont you drop the crystal when activating deathshroud? (I have no idea how bundles on necros work)

Was this done after the latest patch? Because when I tried it it didnt reflect kitten.

You interact with the crystal, and as your character is doing the bundle pick-up you activate deathshroud, you’ll end up in shroud with the crystal in hand, and you can take advantage of the 50% crit chance boost from trait lines.

guys please, your all focused on the wrong class. How do we do it with necro????

You need a mes/ele/necro. ele/mes go mountain goating, port necro up with kittenloads of crystals for rng. then you swap into deathshroud as you pick up the crystal to cap your crit chance. Also warriors banner and 25 vuln highly suggested.

Turret reflects don’t quite kill him because of no crit chance, idk, maybe if we shove enough rangers into the party we can get enough projectiles created.

Thank you all so very much for the suggestions. I wont’ lie, I was pretty nervous posting b/c of how long it’s been since I’ve played lol.

I was wrong though, it was the bombs that I loved using. I remember there was a skill where explosions healed and I would just sit and throw bombs. Of course, this didn’t work in dungeons so I’d switch out to Grenades.

I’ll try these out. The absolute last thing I want is more than one kit (ie I’d rather swap between weapon and just one kit (like bombs for open world and grenades for dungeons).

Currently I was trying grenades or bombs / elixir, but there’s so little healing going on and the elixir healing skill feels extremely weak even if I use F1 for buff. Again though, I’ll try these out. (Sidenote, I never liked Flamethrower… I know! I’m horrible ,_,)

Ft is powerful because it has a hard hitting blast on a 6sec cd. With bombs it gives for very good might blasting, and it can be put into mortar 5 and healing turret fields for aoe heals. Grenades are your hardest hitting kit if you want to press one button, and it allows you to stay at a safeish range. Bombs hit a little bit harder against targets where other people are capping 25 vuln, but melee range most ppl want to avoid, so grenades work in both cases pretty well.

Take grenades if you want to push 1 button and get the best of the meh dmg. Sinister with aristocracy runes is pretty easy in pve. Take p/p with grenades/bombs/ft/mortar. With all the chill you can generate mobs will rarely get close to you, and you can just bleed them out with conditions.

You can swap traits around as wanted, and you can drop toolkit for bomb kit to get better damage if you don’t want the block. It’s modified off another guys build that was designed to be lazy.

yea but the trait is great for when the locusts spawn and there is no useful other option.

and why didnt you use the new elite shout? feel like renewed focus is a waste and even with the condi build it should be a nice dps increase.

Mainly because I didn’t feel like dealing with the knockdown and any extra locusts. I was looking to do a lupi kill that wouldn’t fail given horrible rng, rather than rolling for a best time.

The trait is like 125dmg/sec in zerk gear, it barely tickles the locusts. I’ll have to try later and see how many swarms spawn while running scholar.

did you use the f1 aoe burning trait? because you dont really need to stay so close to lupi during phase 1 and the locusts will just die from following you around. then they wont eat your smite hits.

but at the same time, I would rather fall rear-first into a factory of thumbtacks than grind silverwastes for full sinister. :S

It cost ~8s to buy the recipes, 15s for the ambrite, and charged quartz I made in my home instance from my stockpile. Hardest thing would be the ascended jewellery, but I got those for my engineer originally, and you can do the achieves in a couple mins per instance.

You can get on the lupi wall with LH, but you have to get to a certain spot where there isn’t an invisible wall, because if you stand behind the invisible wall he will just go invulnerable after a few hits

If you approach from the arch next to his spawn you can jump over the invis wall.

Actually, you cant get up there with LH, only classes that are able to get up there are warrior with savage leap, elementalist with ride the lightning and ranger with monarch’s leap.
Reflecting crystals are not gonna be reliable because 9/10 times RNG is going to kitten you over and break it after 2 hits.
Thief’s daggerstorm doesn’t work, as well as every elementalist reflect.

We tried all of this, so you might wanna actually check your kitten before you comment :P

I jsut completed the full skip from beginning to lupi wall with a lh. When I have someone on I’ll test out elementalist reflects.

Yeah i couldnt see that, i assumed that after and updated my message. Still you died, so , assuming you get up in that wall in a legit way, bringing a ranger for reflects is a game changer? without the guardian wall, could that protect your party?

all classes can place a reflect on top of that wall in some way to oneshot lupi. But necro requires a reflecting crystal, a mesmer and a lh. The rest can oneshot with in class mechanics. Thief also needs a lh and a mes due to it’s limited leaps.

Spider is currently 240, I may have been standing 5-10 inches off, but it is definitely further than 120. Bird was tested as ~240 as well. Bear as well. It seems you are the troll.

Warrior damage on dodge has no cd aswell, and since our endurance is the true “CD” here, there is no 10 sec CD required. This is just stupid… It’s something that annoyed me since the patch.

The icd is to combat the blast finisher trait, previosuly you could dodge and get the bomb damage every dodge just like a warrior does.

Would be nice if the icd was only included for that trait, it was a nice dmg filler when you had to dodge on bosses.

The dredge AOE attack is the one where it pounces the ground repeatedly, sending out shock waves that deal a huge amount of damage and inflict 1 agony stack for each hit.

I believe the boss uses this skill if someone in the party is attacking it inside a certain range. To avoid this, maintain range away from the boss or double dodge backwards when you see this attack coming. At most, you’ll take one or two hits before you move out of range.

If you double dodge you can avoid all 3 ticks, in which case you could just have stayed in melee range and had higher damage before and after the attack.

Then get double punched while you’re on his back

Yeah so other than the character attacks and add hominem, my question still stands. Do dungeons need to be as hard as they are? If so, why?

What is the intention to make dungeons this difficult to new players?

Well the dungeons are designed to be harder than open world, and become easier with teamwork. Are they actually hard to an intelligent player/players? Nerp. If you’re looking for an answer, you may also not want to load your question.

Why do they need to be hard? I guess because nothing else in this game is besides herding cats or soloing content designed for groups.

Engi PvE and PvP builds

My question is what are some effective builds for pve as well pvp. If anyone has any builds that can be easily altered based on what you’re doing would be great.

Altering a build is easy, you just swap out 1-2 utilities to whatever suits the situation better, and possibly a trait or 2.

If you’re having a boss move around too much, drop elixir gun since the 4th skill won’t be able to hit all of it’s damage and pick up a utility to help the team out. Other such situations where you are unable to use the max damage skills you swap for extra group support. If your group needs blinds and mortar 4 won’t suffice, swap a bomb kit in for the smoke. If you group lacks might, use flamethrower for it’s 6sec blast finisher(which is high damage and you want to use anyways). Etc,etc,etc… All builds should be tweaked as you play because not all encounters are the same.

For pvp someone else can help you more since I generally avoid it.

New dungeons should be in the same format that Underworld and Fissure of Woe were in GW1: big open area with a certain amount of objectives to complete in any order that you see fit.

When they ever introduce raids I hope it follows that format, emphasis on splitting and real risk. Can’t say my expectations are high though..

If you have ever tried to kill the veteran dredge in the dredge fractal, then you know you do NOT want veterans in any dungeon. Not that kind anyway.

The ones you can kill in 6seconds? Can you elaborate more on what we are supposed to know after fighting these dredge? Or are you referring to the Veteran Resonator with the health of a champion that is 1 of a kind in the game?

Sure, I’ll probably remain silent for most of it since I don’t plan on touching records unless I reapp to a speed clear guild. I may have to mute myself though, last time I was in a large meeting I yelled at a guy for giving stupid ideas, oh archeage world bosses, the times we had together.

I wouldnt know been trying to get my 500 CoE tokens for the past month and cant seem to get a group since i dont have zerker gear nor do i want to buy it just to get the tokens.

You could fix your problem in so many ways. Post your own lfg, or join a guild that is active in dungeon runs, or just get your gokitten zerk gear. But instead of doing any of that you prefer to sit and complain about the toxic comunity.

Irrelevant, complaints on forums must be heard no matter how simple the solution!

FT#4 FT#3 and toolbelt? The FT auto looks horrible to me and I’m not sure if I’m just not getting it ^^

Might stacking with aristocracy runes. Plus burn ticks off napalm and toolbelt, immobilize with bomb 5 or chill with grenade 4/mortar 4 and use all of the fire fields. As a side note, toolkit is pretty weak unless the target is constantly using attacks to proc confusion, you can just chill it and throw grenades to stack vuln for your conditions as well as getting shrapnel procs.

In terms of auto, grenades with shrapnel have the best condition application. Put out your burns, bleeds, poison and chill the enemy. It won’t get near the players focusing on the wurm head, and it will die in a bit. Just remember your super pizzas or koi cakes.

Strength/battle are good sigils allowing you to cap might in solo play, if you can perform decent might stacking rotations drop battle for corruption.

People dont have a problem with fimbul, shoggroth, sub 6 though. The problem was allowing them in restricted. Which was supposed to be a ruleset about playing as close to as intended as possible.

Is the intention of this ruleset to remove unrestricted and have only 1 type of record?
And in terms of those bosses, why list them if people didn’t have a problem? As long as you describe what inactive means, the 4 sub-rules wouldn’t need to be included, or reduced to 1, which would explicitly define inactive.

Edit: sub-rule is a bad word choice, I’m confused as to why you would need to have 4 statements to clarify a single rule, instead of rewriting the rule to remove confusion.

Isn’t 9b a redundant statement with 9a? Perhaps just reword 9a as attacking an enemy that is unable to perform an action(do emotes/talking count?), since non-hostile enemies won’t take damage from you(unless neutral moas count). And define action as skill use or movement(though the game considers npc movement to be a skill). Which would summarise 9abcd into a single, slightly longer than before statement.

So, “Attacking inactive enemies is banned where inactive is an enemy unable to perform an action(ie. skill use or movement)” Which covers fimbul, shoggroth, subject 6, subject alpha. I haven’t done the p4 bosses in a while, though I remember them bugging due to their emote. Though you could define an action as skill use, movement and emote to include that.

Flamethrower hits 0.88 coefficients/second, whereas grenades hit 0.99 on just auto attacks. And grenades can stack 3 vuln per skill use plus bleed if you take shrapnel, and extra vuln if you take heavy armour exploit. It has higher damage if you’re camping, and boosts party damage by more as long as you trait for explosives(which is pretty much assumed in pve, because dmg boosts are amazing). In terms of the ability to cleave, grenades have better aoe, whereas flamethrower shoots in just the straight line, and requires you to face a target.

He means that Shoggroth is effectively disabled through immobilizes during it’s retreat to burrow.

during retreat shoggroth doesnt do anything anyway. so its the same, isnt it?

Which would mean immobilize would be banned on all melee bosses, and cc would be completely banned. The difference between shoggroth vs. fimbul was that shoggroth had his in-combat mechanic used against him, whereas fimbul hasn’t entered combat(per-se), he’s still trying to roleplay.

What does “activated” mean? If its turning “red” the rule is sueless. If it means starting to attack this rule makes multiple record invalid. (like Mossman 1:07, CM Story 3:29) In both records a boss gets immobilized before he starts attacking. I am sure there are more records like that. So either way this rule makes no sense the way it is written.

Neither the SC mossman record or qT CM record immobilized bosses? And as far as I know activated refers to the boss having the ability to use skills. Ie. Fimbul can’t use a skill until he finishes his walk, same with subject 6, but shoggroth could use a skill, he is now rendered useless by the immobilize combined with his in-fight mechanics.

If you want to keep some toughness, look at picking up captain’s jewellery, it’s like knight’s but has precision main stat. If you have precision as a stat on all your armour, take a strength sigil over battle for much higher personal might. If you want to camp 1 kit for dmg choose grenades.

In firearms drop juggernaut for modified ammo. And I’d suggest swapping either inventions or alchemy for Explosives to get high vuln stacking with a grenade kit.

Stealth isn’t a required combo to know, it’s just very handy and allows you to replace thieves in a party if ppl request one, as well as allowing easier trash skips for you. Even if you don’t know how to blast stealth off a smoke bomb, it’s an excellent choice to use against trash mobs if you stop to kill some, mortar 4 also is great if you don’t bring bomb kit.

As a side note, I bound my auto attack to A and have ground targetting with range finder turned on, so i just tap A and it throws grenades wherever my mouse is. Plus other random binds like W,R,shift,B for my other attack skills.

If detha dies the event fails, but the champion won’t despawn, you have to res detha and talk to her to restart, which usually includes killing the champ to not waste time in a combat res.

I’ve only seen platinum doubloons used on an old ele build that had permanent might/fury/swiftness/prot for the team using attunement swapping. You can just pick up boon duration food if you need it, and take stat boost from ascended trinkets, which will be more than food can give you. Caveat is condition food on engi, becauase 36-40% duration increase is amazing in pve.

For meleeing bosses, constantly hit them with both strikes on bladetrail, and turn sideways to the boss to utilize max melee, you can out-range archdiviner/ettin, etc… Mossman can be tricky with his surprise axe if there aren’t reflects up, you can look at sesshi’s mossman solo’s on war. Mai trin requires you to walk into and out of her range for complete melee, you can bring offhand sword/mace if you really need, and step out to range specifically to draw out a teleport shot.

As long as the underlevels draw any kind of aggro it’s laughably easy on an ele. The hardest part would be p3 time-gated burrows.

Because pugs do they funny kitten. Like asking for meta elitists, asking me to ping my necros gear, then never using food/utility until someone sends them a potion to make a wall on wall lupi easier, and they went down on the first attempt, all of them, before phase 1 finished I had to res them all, while dodging kicks, and they give me the excuse, I was ressing so I got kicked.
