My lowest hit without explosive powder was 649, with explosive and 3 vuln it was 737. 649*1.1*1.03 = 735.3 seems to be right around where it should be. 649 is 2408 power and had 1000+ tests, 737 is 2408 power and had ~70 hits, 737 showed up 4 times

Edit: Ye, that is a terrible description, technically it does give the pop-up :P

Edit: Retested a month later, 736 is the lowest hit with explosives traited.

Min-Maxers generally aren’t going to touch the runes that don’t increase a direct damage stat

only if they’re running a direct damage build, but in general hybrid builds under perform outside of pvp(where they can still be iffy), you either take damage modifiers and power/prec/fero or condi duration and condi dmg, instead of splitting between tough/condi and a multiplier

  • Some people were unsure about the Mortar’s projectile finisher working: We previously had confirmation that the projectile finisher was supposed to proc as long as the explosion hits a combo field. If anyone has severe heartburn about it, I can dig up the red post about it with some work.
  • Explosive Powder does not properly proc on Mortar, making us miss 10% damage:

If you have time can you dig up the thread, all I ever saw was the livestream with the “it will be able to combo finish statement” but they didn’t say what type of combo.

Explosive powder and steel-packed powder are both affecting mortar 1, didn’t bother to test the other 3.

If you want a defensive set pick up knight’s, then swap in zerker pieces as you feel comfortable with boss tells. Be wary, higher armour values will give you more boss aggro, you will need to dodge less by having tanky armour, but more because you will get attacked more often.

Make sure you stay inside/nearby projectile defenses for ranged bosses, for melee bosses slow down their movement speed or increase yours.

you dont need bomb kit to clear capm.
just find a pilar and kite – your FT#1 hits thru the walls, so you can just autoattack them to death while recieving no damage.

Until the roaming group comes to the crossed swords on the camp and you’re only half done. Bomb kit makes it faster and has no need to worry about rotating correctly when kiting.

I have 25% run on all my characters. If they don’t have access to permanent utility skills that provide 25% run (like my Mesmer), I have to buy them traveller or speed runes (depends on what stats I want for the character).

Buy a set of centaur runes, press mantra heal. Costs like 50s.

I prefer traits or skills that grant passive swiftness, however if the class does not have it and I’m rushing somewhere I’ll use a swiftness skill.

I just wish it would help in combat a little bit, like an increased dodge chance or something, but hey…its still ok.

Swiftness increases your in combat move speed by 33% as well.

2. When the bosses have unique anti-melee mechanics. For example, Ashym’s Meteor Shower, Grawl Shaman’s Push when not properly max melee. (Sometimes it’s not your fault; if your party members, pets, clones are causing issues then it’s not worth risk it.)
3. When cleave is highly dangerous, the boss’ attack has max range and wide angle. For example: Dredge boss, Mai Trin. Unless you can secure an extra block/evade/invuln and understand the boss’ aggro, don’t risk facetanking it.

2. The grawl shaman’s axe chop with knockback/reflect is shorter than perpendicular max melee, just need to watch fireballs.

3. The ettin in uncategorized as well, he has a longer melee range perpendicular than straight on, either stand behind or in front, never to the side.

Projectile finishers still not working as advertised… Target needs to be hit for it for it to do anything, even then it seems inconsistent.

Sigh frustrating, how long will the engineer go broken this time around?

Projectile finishers have always required you to hit an enemy for the effect to occur, which weapon are you having problems with?

He bugs out if you do enough damage. After the 75% shield you can cc and burst him until he bugs and does nothing.

Skill Queue issue is still the most lethal thing for the profession. Literally the reason I have not tried to pvp properly since the specializations patch – I’d wanna get into the ‘new’ pvp experience with my most comfortable class.

Bombs are probably about equal in how heavy the issue is, with that radius.

OH, AND THE GODDMAN MORTAR BUGS WITH THE EXPLOSIVES TRAITS.

Which explosives trait bug?

Also, in regards to update 8, mortar kit 2,3,4 only hit one pulse of dmg, the skill is 1 hit. Ie. 240, not 240(4x) for skills that have multiple pulses/strikes. The tooltip is matching the function of the skill, is there something else considered to be bugged about it? Looked at thief shortbow 4 compared to mortar 2, or old poison grenade.

You should switch bomb before you pull. Because this is the highest direct damages + melee + aoe + spammable attack we have. You can take every camps with just bombs, most of the time by spamming 1, once you master the tactic.

In every camp, there is a spot where you can pull all mobs and turn around an obstacle or making back and forth around a corner. Mobs will spend more time walking to get you in line of sight than damaging you. And you start with aoe blind to limit the few first damages which may hurts. That’s it.

If you trait for explosives grenades have better damage, but fire/conc/smoke bomb are great for conditioning the guards.

As a note, if a scout blinds you, your blind field will miss its next pulse, you want to be a step back from them and hit them with the edge of bombs or throw grenades a step in front of yourself. If there is a wall behind the mobs, you can use big old bomb at 4 seconds to knock them back into it when smoke bomb runs out, or at 6 seconds if you are traited for longer mortar fields. Flamethrower also has a second knockback if you have stacked aoes underneath the mobs, shield offhand as well. Plus flamethrower has an instant blind that can be used while casting other skills/cced.

Can anyone confirm this magnet bug?

Could be nice if they allowed you to get a stacking bonus for continuing inside of fractals. From 51 onwards you only have 1 daily,, they could add in that you get an extra 5% of the base reward for a fractal shard if you continue on without returning to dessa’s lab. Then you’d have a reason to do a 95,96,etc.. and run a set of shards instead of 1-3 and done after 30mins.

People will just run a script so they don’t auto-log out and they can camp their fractal foreverz!

You would cap though, each time the level increases by one, so you’d have to miss 1-2 fractal dailies skipping on the pristines to get the increased base rewards of gold/emph frags/normal relics.

Drop smoke bomb then the mortar 4 for double blind fields, you can also use the immobilize on bomb kit to kite the guards around corners while they are stuck inside your fire fields. The chill from mortar/grenade kit is also powerful while kiting guards around structures.

After using your aoe skills you can proceed to run around like a headless chicken while your conditions tick.

Actually though, nothing, you swapped 1 kit and 1 weapon, and you still only press 1-2 skills on those anyways, zerk uses acid, blunder, jump where condi uses blow, fire bomb conc bomb. Grenades didn’t change, ft didn’t change, mortar is used as a blind on both builds, heal turret is still used for sustain/blast.

I think Mai Trin is the best example of A.Net’s boring boss mechanics. You have 4 phases and nothing changes it’s literally going back and forth between phase 1 and 2, no increased difficulty, no added mechanics just doing the same crap 4 times.

I see a lot of people complaining about bugged barrage. Can anyone elaborate what you guys mean?

I assume they are referring to the aoe indicators appearing after the aoe has landed so you take damage before you have an opportunity to dodge. The aoes sometimes don’t match up with the indicators either, supposedly jumping causes this.

Cliffside spawns 8 chanters and a veteran after you killed the first 2 at a double seal. I’ll try to test the ring of warding on the first archdiviner when I roll a cliffside.

-before a fight: do torch for firefield, then warhorn to blast it + give fury. Other people will start blasting too usually. If an ele is putting down a firefield don’t bother putting down your own
-your initial longbow burst + opening strike is fantastic for stacking vulnerability. If an ele is casting lightning storm then this isn’t too important. But if your group is vulnerability deficient its a solid combo.
-frost spirit and spotter use to be the way to go before the trait rework. I am not up to date on whether it is still good, but typically group buffs are well received and worth it.

you can put on longbow, start the channel for rapid fire and equip your axe or warhorn quickly and you get the 15 burst vuln from RF + OS while still being on your condi weapon sets.

you can also swap in red moa for extra fury before fights if you lack an ele/your ele lacks persisting flames

No downsides, just requires less crafting definitely the upside for ascended crafting. And you’ll want to split them as taku showed to only need 2 weapons.

You can shorten some of the explanations by focusing on the important parts.

“Effigy: Brings arms up, curls fists, brings arms down and out. Firestorm spawns on target” Focus on giving a concise description of the animation. And you can describe how to counter his mechanics, then give a short list of examples. Ie. “Projectile defenses will render his auto attack useless(eg. wall of reflection, feedback, smokescreen)” “If you fail to kill the effigy before the mobs spawn send a player to kite.” “Skills which create multiple impacts are more effective due to his large hitbox(Ice storm, Meteor shower, Smite, Whirlwind attack)”

The knockback occurs on the bouncing fireball when he is enraged. For the molten firestorm.

I’m a little confused on the dnt condi build so I have axe I. mainhand then nothing in offhand, then in my other slot I have nothing mainhand and torch offhand?. Is that right? If so why is it done like that..?

You have 2 axe mainhands and 1 torch offhand. If a weapon slot is empty on a weapon set, it automatically inherits the offhand/mainhand from your other weapon set. You can accomplish the same thing by having 2 torch offhands and 1 axe mainhand.

He used a knockback in every single land fight in the story line, if I’m doing the story solo I don’t want a random GS mesmer pug knocking things away.

Also he makes terrible decisions, who attacks mordremoth after killing 1 lieutenant, honestly. Next he’ll rush off to kill the other elder dragons after we kill claw of jormag or kralk. He also hasn’t paid attention to half the lore we get told about in the story, mordremoth influences the spheres of growth and the mind while living in the jungle, lets just fly over the kittening jungle with no planning besides bring a bunch of soldiers. 10/10 would watch him wipe out the pact again. He also doesn’t pay attention specifically to the mind part. Know which other dragon occupied the sphere of the mind? Glint. Know what she did? She was able to empathize with destiny’s edge and break free of the control of an elder dragon. Instead we have an elder dragon with the same ability to understand and bend the mind of others. Let’s just not at all consider that the dragon is just as or more intelligent, and just fly straight into the kittening jungle. In some regards that may have been the best choice, the dragon would have been confused at the terrible decision to have properly planned for it. What about the blue orb that powers the defenses in orr which stops zhaitan’s minions from being resurrected after they die? Did he test that on the mordrem?

The further his leap travels the longer it takes him to travel the distance until he impacts. So yes, the further away you are the more time you have to dodge, think of him as an unreflectable projectile. He has air time.

GS 5 pulls not GS 4 as you mentioned at the last fight.

The red/purple colour was quite hard to see, you may want to set the text on a black background.

As amusing as some of the objectives were, you may want to have a static description during fights like the last archdiviner fight, and have the various life advice underneath it. It may be better to set those in their own category, I find them amusing but I already know the bosses mechanics, for newer players who are trying to focus on the fight, they may be confused why the objective isn’t related to the video.

In regards to melee, either buffing your move speed or debuffing the bosses will make melee much easier. You should only need to dodge his leap at the bottom, or his pull/agony at the top.

Check the exact number of chanters that spawn after you kill the first 2 instead of a range.

If you aren’t sure about something, do another fractal run a few days later and make your sentences statements, rather than moderately well informed guesses. You can look at getting some information off of gw2dungeons.net as weth keeps it well updated.

You may also want to mention the most relevant consumables for each fractal. Ie. cliffside is outlaw slaying. Molten facility is sharpening stones. etc…

You can slow the video down and zoom in for specific tells the first time the occur, pause and show the description, then continue so players know what they should be looking for. You’re right, I have no idea why I have a guardian with higher base armour in one of my tests.

Do bosses gain more aggro to higher toughness or higher armour? In which case guardians and warriors would draw the most aggro in a party.

  • Ranged pets fail to taunt. Probably because of the distance and the short reach of the taunt skill. But – still annoying.

240 radius, if there is something near the pet it will taunt, but it won’t taunt a target if it is using its max range

After digging a bit on the metabattle and checking few videos I’m starting to have feeling that I need to grow a third hand, put second keyboard for my feet and maybe even find some tongue following controller to successfully follow engie rotations!

Thief: 3 steps
Ele rotation: 5 steps.
Warrior/Guardian: about 15 but its mostly just following 1-5 with weapon swap
Condi engie: 48! Yes, Forty kitten eight!

You don’t need to share the key with other people but the website needs it to read the info from ANet’s servers.

I doubt this will be wide spread but it’d be hilarious watching people without EU keyboards trying to type some of my accented character names to gear check LOL.

I had a guildie challenge himself to create a name that looked like it made sense with as many accented characters as possible, I think only 2 of them didn’t have an accent of some kind. We ended up holding a contest to see who could correctly match it.

I’ve never heard of nor seen anyone get suspended for using “safe spots”.

Being oblivious doesn’t prove anything.

But anecdotal evidence does!!! It is interesting though, path to player mobs are only an issue if you are stealthing, does this mean they actually put in counters to stealth tactics, or they just wanted to force fights as you reached thresholds?

You’d need exactly 1 tanky player and 4 without toughness for that to work even remotely.
There’s practically no way they intended that to be the way to do it, they never tried forcing people into specific stats for dungeons. It’s not even about zerker gear, what if multiple people in your party run tanky builds? It becomes just as unreliable as with a full zerker party.

You’d just find the tankiest person of the 5… Just like in a zerker party the guardian has the highest base toughness because of their profession.

Glitch when cleaving downed players in sPvP

Hey guys,

I main a thief and play a lot of SPVP every day.

I have noticed only over the last few days, occasionally when I down a foe in a match, if I cleave/attack them, (it’s faster and safer for me than stomping) one of two things will happen:

A) – I will be facing in the OPPOSITES direction of the target the whole time and no attacks will register at all

B) – I will be facing the correct direction but still no hits will register.

Please note that by not registering I mean it appears no damage is even processed at all, not like I hit them and the hit is registered but negated by blind or something.

I only know about the thief class really, so thought that this might potentially be a new skill for chronomancer spec or revenant class but none of my friends in game know of this and assure me it’s a glitch.

Does anyone else get this? (Again, has only started happening over the last few days)

Recap of what happens: I down a player, have no condi on me and no other players interfering, but when I go to auto attack or HS the downed player, NOTHING happens, and half the time my character will instead be facing the opposite direction. In this event if I try to HS them I go flying away in the opposite direction.

Any help would be appreciated – this has been ruining my GW2 experience over the last few days.

Most likely it is a connection issue when the player is going down and moving. Their body isn’t where it is showing on your screen, it is also a problem when trying to revive allies.

Bark skin is currently basing the pet’s dmg reduction on its hp threshold rather than the ranger’s as described. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bark_Skin
