Since you can’t target the guy teleporting around with hacks, you guys should time stamp that location, and report it to Anet’s exploit e-mail.
I am also curious as to why there is no direct way besides e-mail to contact support. I notice there is a live chat for gemstore transactions but for nothing else. I find this to be odd the most in regards to trying to determine account ownership. I feel that calling in person to vouch for your ownership of an account is by far a more legitimate way to ascertain who is the valid owner than doing through e-mail.
Giving your verification information over the phone doesn’t make it anymore legitimate than to e-mail it in. If a hacker got into your e-mail, and took personal information needed to verify account ownership, a phone call doesn’t prevent theft or validate ownership. So I don’t understand what you mean when you bring up the phone call argument.
That is like saying China have a free economy.
The change in ecto price already showed Anet can change the price of any item to anything they want. What more proof you need?
Now, I’m not saying legendary should be cheap. I’m saying the conversation about players set price is moot.
The players do ultimately set the price of item. But I’m pretty sure Anet already knows what the price will be because they control it.
You said Anet controls the price, then you said players do, then go back to saying Anet does. /confused
I was in the Kaineng voice chat server earlier, and one of the leaders had a really sexy voice. Who was that Commander? Makes me wanna transfer!
Ethersin :p
Maybe we can get Ethersin to transfer to Maguuma? We has cookies! And Sabrina would love Ethersin.
If you’re asking for in game items/gold as payment for services, then it’s a bannable offense. If you’re buying Gems from an RMT/Gold seller, then it’s a bannable offense.
But if you’re using your own money, earned from whatever you do (i.e. salary from a job or commission), to purchase Gems from Anet, then you’re completely OK.
Awesome! Thanks you!
NP. I accept art as payment for my assistance.

I think you should change the title of this thread to “I want World Completion to not be challenging”.
Also, there are a lot of these complaint threads existing already. You should join the chats in those threads instead of making duplicate ones.
No conspiracies, no malevolent develops, no market manipulators; just thousands of people all desperate to buy and sell the same item

does anyone else think that is a ridiculous fee? If people post cheaper prices than you your items will be on trading post forever. Especially if its a high priced item. Any news on them possibly changing this?
Poor player choices does not equal bad game mechanics.
On a side note, if I’m the one who kept undercutting your stuff, I apologize.
If I Change Servers Will I Lose All Progress?

If you pay for a transfer, you won’t lose anything. However, if you delete all characters to transfer for free, then yes, you’ll lose all progress.
Well your partially right but if anet made new ways to spend ectos or now dumped materials the market wouldn’t be so very disadvantaging for 90% of the people.
I find it a serious problem if a casual player or regular farmer can’t make any money, just because the setting is like that, that most of the materials get almost useless. I think it’s anet’s turn to stop such a fossilization of the market by implementing something that makes it work again.
And no the materials don’t need to fall, BUT there should be viable ways to make money and not just pure randomness.
So what you’re saying is that you want a way for casual players to make money without effort? Part 1 of farming is to know where to farm. Part 2 of farming is to actually have time to do it. Part 3 of farming is getting lucky with the RNG. So the more kills you have, the more chances RNG will work in your favor. Each kill generates drop from the loot table. Kill one monster, you have one shot with the RNG. Kill ten monsters, and you have ten individual shots with RNG (note – that still doesn’t guarantee a rare or better drop, just more chances to get it).
All games have some RNG to it. Killing a Risen doesn’t guarantee you “X item” drops each time. If a single monster or boss always dropped something good, and it was sellable to a merchant or on the TP, players would do nothing but kill that one target (and that item would devalue within minutes). Stuff is valuable because of its rarity and usefulness. Usually the people who complain otherwise are the ones who feel entitled to free stuff.
2 accounts running simultaneously on 1 PC

lordkrall is partially correct. Allow me to help clarify.
You can multi box, or run two or more accounts on the same PC. However, you cannot use a program to control multiple accounts at the same time. Meaning, you can Alt+Tab between screens and control each account individually (one at a time).
Remember the rule: one key = one action
Running two accounts simultaneously: one key = two actions (= perma ban)
I was in the Kaineng voice chat server earlier, and one of the leaders had a really sexy voice. Who was that Commander? Makes me wanna transfer!
I think that to be safe, if you have any doubts whatsoever in using this “macro”, then don’t do it. I’d rather play normally and not worry about getting perma banned, than to take a chance with any prog.

I don’t think you know what “TL;DR” means.
Solution to your problems:
1) Put valuable items away in Bank
People need to stop posting threads like this, when the answer has been given over and over. Anet does not replace items salvaged/sold/deleted due to player mistakes.
If it were that easy to stop Spam companies, it would have been done years ago. Sure you can track the server the spam came from, but you can’t track the person(s) responsible.
Well I think you pretty much proved the OP right. That is what is broken…they have perma stealth.
Correction. They had perma-stealth. With the cooldowns and nerfs made recently, you can’t be hidden 24/7.
Besides, all it takes is a skilled player to counter a Thief in stealth. If you understand the mechanics, you don’t have to worry. So I’ll agree with you that it’s broken, but only to those who don’t know how to counter it.
One last thing, the more you guys try to argue over this on my thread, the more you just prove my points.
/sigh. Looks like I forgot the cardinal rule of debate: “You can’t use reason when debating a conspiracy theorist”. So allow me to bring out my straw hat to counter your tin foil one.
However because the Legendaries are really not being sold, Legendary sellers can keep raising its own value to gain a profit on other goods without selling the Legendary at all. Since there is no rule how high a value of an item can go for, in the fake illusion of said price, the only way to stop someone is too “Crash” the market on purpose saying that item’s value is worth nothing.
You make the assumption that Mat prices are based on what certain Legendary weapons are listed for. It’s like me assuming you have no money to buy Gems, because all you do is complain about Gem prices.
Arenanet is in charge of how the value of items are suppose to go for but just how far are we going to late inflation keep rising? At this rate in 6 months a single legendary will be 5,000 dollars soon.
You make the assumption that Anet controls the value of items. Sorry. Players determine the price to sell an item for, and players determine if they’re willing to pay that price. I could easily post a couple of Legendaries for 5k each, but that won’t have any effect on the economy at all, except for emptying my pockets to pay for the listing fee.
Sorry to say but that’s inflation by the abuse of “Market Speculation” being manipulated.
Not sure if you understand what inflation is. You may have clicked on the wrong link in Google. And speculation does not equal manipulation.
Then with no competitors, Wal-mart will be the ones setting the prices at what ever price and make people “Think its cheap and getting a good deal” when the quality or value of the item is dirt.
You also don’t understand business as well. No competition leads to higher prices, but when that happens, the door opens for new competition to come in and undercut. It’s self defeating, since it’s impossible for Walmart to have a monopoly on retail goods and grocery. They do well because they’re able to sell goods at prices lower than the competition. Low profit margins are made up by higher sales volume. And buying in larger volumes from vendors tend to score Walmart discounts. Smaller stores aren’t able to undercut them, since profit margins start to become razor-thin.
TL;DR – The more you post, the more you prove our points that you don’t understand how economies work. But I give you credit on one thing. You try really hard to sound like your ideas have merit.
LOL! This thread is the best example of someone trying to learn economic theories with Google. Couple that with unfounded assumptions on the market, and you get your typical, hardcore conspiracy theorist.
@Ursan – If you told the OP that you had a way of making 20 Gold by losing 160 Gold, he’d think you’re a genius.
I think I already know who this “Personal Nemesis” is going to be, since Paul slipped us a clue. I’ve watched one too many Korean Dramas in my time, so I’m always looking for twists in stories. The twist became apparent to me when I finished the dungeon with Rox and Braham. I’m 90% sure, and I look forward to the next story arc to see if I’m right.
They won’t post updated data like this.
It’ll show how much population they’ve lost since Sept.
You mean because people transferred off of your server?
Boredom can vary. I have tons of from killing all the Invaders rushing SM, but then get bored when they do it over and over and over. I get bored picking up all the loot bags because there are so many. Then I have fun again defending SM, until the zerg ball overpowers us. Then I get bored when we can’t take SM back.
What’s my solution? Go do some jumping puzzles, kill some dragons, and then go back to WvW.
By the way, you guy do realize that you don’t HAVE to do the periscopes to get the Monthly… right? You can select the easiest tasks from the Monthly list.
Just because the number of players is increasing does not mean the number of active players is increasing. Many ignorant people tend to neglect the fact that activity is different than the number of players. There could be 10,000,000 players, but if they only log in once every week for an hour, that’s different than having 1,000,000 who play several hours every day.
This is getting good! So by your definition, the game is dying because there aren’t enough players who meet your standards of playing several hours a day? Even I don’t meet your requirements, so all my playing doesn’t count in your game wide analysis of your guild members’ activity? Neither do my college friends who think studying is more important than playing several hours a day? Or my guildie’s wife who is 8 months pregnant, yet manages to log in for an hour or two?
So let me go back and amend my summary of your thread. You say:
“My guild isn’t actively playing several hours a day anymore, during my timezone, on my server, so that means the game is losing players as a whole”
“I talk to other people in the game, and they concur with my scientifically proven opinions based on hearsay, that the game has less people in it”
“A few people agree with me in my thread, thus I have proof that I’m right that this game is dying”
“Just because new people continue to purchase the game and make accounts, doesn’t prove the game is growing, because they don’t play for several hours a day”
Am I missing anything?
It’s hard to call someone an economist when their entire introductory paragraph about economics is wrong.
Ramin is a social psychologist that has made some useful contributions to game economies, particularly micropayment models, through his insights into the motivations of reward structures. I do not doubt that he has some level of expertise in that area.
Economics though? I have no reason to believe he knows anything about the economics of an economy, virtual or otherwise. I certainly didn’t pick up anything in that article to say otherwise.
From an economic standpoint, the sub-80 economy is fine, if boring – from a reward structure standpoint, however, I can’t disagree with his assessment that the sub-80 GW2 economy is really bad.
Despite the overlap, I think there’s an important distinction between the design of the reward structure (which GW2 is honestly pretty bad at) and the design of the economy (which is outstanding). They work together to create the game experience, and a strength or weakness in one, while it can prop up or tear down a game, does not necessarily translate into the same in the other.
Well said Ensign. I knew at some point there’s be a post exactly like this.
I think Gaile made a mistake. We’re talking about getting banned for RMT transactions, not botting. So while there really may be 20 or so parameters for a bot, it may be different for RMT.
Though we should give her a break if it was a mistake. She’s in Europe on a nice, well deserved vacation. Having her post while she travels shows her commitment to this community.
At 11 PM tonight I stepped outside for a moment and looked around. Based on my observations I can say with absolute certainty that my wife and I are the last two human beings left alive. RIP, human race.
I just closed both my eyes, and the whole world disappeared!!! But then when I opened my eyes, I recreated the world exactly as I had left it.
I must lift or something. <3
Back to the argument at hand. OP is basically justifying his stance by saying his personal experiences within his guild must transcend all reason, and thus equates to the game ending. He further explains his posts by saying he talked to other people. Going on, a couple more people agreed with him in this thread, so that solidifies his theories.
/munches on popcorn
Or some skill could give a buff that makes you see stealthed players for a while.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa there. That’s a pretty overpowered idea mate. Be careful where you swing that mind of yours.
I just figured it out! OP’s server isn’t winning in WvW, so he thinks the game is dying since all the BG players quitting en masse. That explains a lot of where his rage is coming from.
Allow me to sum up this thread with a few observations:
“My guild isn’t active anymore, so that means the game is losing players as a whole”
“I can’t find random groups to do dungeons with anymore, so that means no one wants to run dungeons”
“I’m making my claims about player activity declining as a whole. based solely on my own lack of being able to do stuff I wanna do with random people”
How many fallacies can we find here?
Allow me to sum up this comment with a few observations:
“I don’t want to read about his guild, so I’ll assume that his comment on guild activity relates purely to his own”
“I’m too lazy to read about his dungeon section, so I’ll assume that he meant he can’t find a group to play with anymore.”
“I think I’ll make some ridiculous response that includes me in the conversation but really doesn’t make sense according to what was said.”
But wait, you didn’t tell me how many fallacies there are in all your posts. Try again?
Allow me to sum up this thread with a few observations:

Stealth is a unique mechanic, and very powerful in the right mindset, but it’s not as game-breaking as the OP is arguing. Right now, the damage potential a thief has from stealth is the more game-breaking part.
I’ll agree with you there. The high damage from Stealth does hurt. But that’s what makes a Thief who they are. Hit and run. They aren’t made to slug it out on the battlefield. This all may change come tomorrow though.
Line of sight would work if this game were linear and played in 1st person… in narrow halls (ala 1990’s Doom). But throw in open world environments, and it suddenly makes no sense.
All the anti-stealth people need to understand something: Thieves are squishy. Stealth helps to balance them out. High single target damage output + low defense = Glass Cannon that can die pretty fast. I do know that Anet wants to give Thieves a bit more chance to survive, so there may more nerfs to stealth coming. Keep in mind that if their build is adjusted too much, they become a petless Ranger.
Side note – Earlier in the thread, people were comparing other games’ mechanics. Well, if you want more nerfs to Stealth, then I propose bringing in a FPS/CounterStrike mechanic to balance things out: Anytime you are blinded in game, your screen goes bright white for the duration of the condition. I’d gladly give up Stealth for that.
Take my money! All of it!!!
GW2’s “Stealth” dumbs that down to a single button press, taking it to the extreme where it’s possible to disappear from sight on a well-lit day with no cover in the middle of an empty field.
Just like pressing a single button to make meteors appear out of thin air? Curse this thing called “magic”.
Trying to sound smart and failing to even understand the base perspective. Calls OP’s points “complaints” and does a “breakdown” to say the same thing over and over. Ends with a real complaint.
…. lul
FYI – the base perspective you bring up is that those without skill to counter a Thief will complain about no balance.
And note – all my replies are the same thing over and over, because the OP doesn’t understand the purpose of Stealth to begin with. It’s like starting an argument about the sun being too hot, thus it’s not balanced.
He was not only talking about from a thief’s perspective, but also from another class’ perspective.
1. Analyze your enemy. How can I analyze my enemy when they approach me in stealth? If they’re hiding behind a structure or hill, and stealth around it and up to me, I have no idea what’s about to happen. Are they tanky or will they burst me down in 2 hits? No way for me to know because I can’t size them up before battle.
3. Movement closing. How can I close in on a stealthed thief if he’s invisible? There are 360 degrees he could have gone, and I have to not only pick the correct degree, but the correct distance as well. Is he running, or did he stealth and is still standing back near where he initially stealthed?
4. First strike advantage. The thief will always have this advantage because of #1. They can stealth up to me and get their hit off first every time. I can only swing my sword and shoot arrows into space while the thief laugh and walks up behind me, completely undetected and unhit.
5. Untargetability. My AOEs take a second or two to get off and by the time they finally make contact, the thief is long gone. I can’t hit, see or shoot an untargettable object, yet it can target me. Seems like Predator vs humans with pokey sticks.
6. Scouting undetected. I don’t mind perma stealth for scouting purposes only. This was what OP said as well.
Counter points:
1) Exactly. That’s the purpose of Stealth. To sneak up on an enemy and hit them without them knowing.
2) Missing
3) Exactly. That’s the purpose of Stealth. To hide your movements.
4) Exactly. That’s the purpose of Stealth. To be able to strike first.
5) Exactly. That’s the purpose of Stealth. To avoid getting hit.
6) Exactly. That’s the purpose of Stealth. To be able to scout the enemy locations without being seen.
Edit – Please note that good players are able to counter Thieves, even when you can’t see them. Higher tiered servers have skilled players, so you can always ask them for tips. Low tiered servers are mainly zerg balls vs zerg balls with no strategy.

This was brought up in the Black Lion Trading area, but I’ll post here what I did there:
The analysis is flawed. Normally if you’re a professional and going to be critical on something, you need to do your research first.
Normally when people come out and say something is “flawed,” they give reasons why.
I’m currently at work, so I only have time to post quick shots here and there when the boss isn’t looking. Other players who frequent the forums will cover why his analysis is flawed, so I’m not too worried about that. But for those of us in the know, we can already pick out key parts of his argument that are off base.
The analysis is flawed. Normally if you’re a professional and going to be critical on something, you need to do your research first.
This is just an economist on economist crime. Can’t we all just get along?
I forgot to add: I’m a Glass Cannon Thief. I die almost as fast as I kill. So that’s pretty balanced IMO.
As a male, I approve of this thread.
Stealth was already nerfed. This was due to an unbalanced “perma-stealth” Thief troll build. Now with that said, let’s breakdown your complaints one by one:
• Time to analyze your enemy
This is done before a Thief or Mes goes into stealth. If the target is squishy, you attack. If it’s a Guardian, you run away. Simple.
• Cooldown reduction
This was the nerf. No more perma-stealth trolling.
• Movement closing
Part of the purpose of being stealthed. You can run away or move in for a hit. Nothing wrong here.
• First strike advantage
Part of the purpose of being stealthed. You can run away or move in for a hit. Nothing wrong here.
• Untargetability
Part of the purpose of being stealthed. You can run away or move in for a hit. Nothing wrong here.
• Scouting undetected
Part of the purpose of being stealthed. You can run away or move in for a hit. Nothing wrong here.
Summary – Stealth is a part of the game. If you’re unable to come up with effective strategies to counter it, it doesn’t mean it’s unbalanced or broken. It means you need to get better. There are many ways to counter a Thief or Mes, but being that I play both, I won’t discuss them (for fear of people learning how to kill me).
Looks like someone’s account is about to get terminated.
I know they are all phishing emails but what is A-net doing to counter them? I can not report them as spam I can not block the Email or any of the normal combats vs the phishing emails since it is coming from A-net themselves.
You tell us to be careful and protect our accounts, what is a-net doing to protect their own Email? This has been going on for weeks and if it was my email hacked I would have fixed it immediately yet noreply@guildwars2.com is still compromised today.
I would like to continue to get the real emails from you all but I know this is an attemt to get everyone to block that email then when our accounts do get hack attempts we will not see them since the emails to warn us will be blocked with the phishing emails.
Please advise
I don’t think you understand how this works. Anet’s e-mail hasn’t been hacked. RMT/Hackers are sending these e-mails out en mass while spoofing Anet’s e-mail address. What does that mean? E-mails being sent from “hacker@rmt.com” are being made to look like it came from “noreply@guildwars2.com”.
Then don’t buy it? By doing so, you won’t have to make silly complaint threads.
edit – I LOVE my pick.
So I was talking with a Kaineng player earlier in the week, and he was saying that his server was decimated. All the good guilds had left, and that they were broken. So come reset day, and we go up against Kaineng, fully expecting them to still be good. The first couple of hours were close, but here’s the confusing part. All the guilds that supposedly left… were still there. All of them… parts in a combined 60 man mega zerg that I ran into as I turned a wrong corner. One that then steamrolled us all out of EB.
Kaineng is putting up really good numbers. Did those guilds who left only take parts of their roster? If so, it doesn’t seem like it hurt the server as a whole. Granted I haven’t followed the story closely, but I don’t understand why there was so much drama.
Go to sleep Duke. You need to wake up at 8am…
Chasind, you shouldn’t give up hope! If it were more rare than now, getting your bow would be that much more rewarding! It should encourage you to play more to achieve your goals.
