I agree. This is one of my least favorite aspects of the game. It feels “wrong”. I defend Anet on a whole lot of points, but how they offer RNG stuff, particularly stuff that’s account/character bound is just terrible.
because it sells
I know it sells. That doesn’t make it right. It’s a bad look for the company, in my opinion. They’ve done so much else right, that just makes me quite annoyed. I don’t love the RNG in game either, as with precursors (even though one dropped for me), but in game I have more trouble complaining about it. RNG for cash rubs me the wrong way.
You do realize that you don’t have to buy it right? So the question now is “Is it wrong to complain that you pay for it when it’s completely optional?”
See here for the news post: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-missions-a-good-foundation/
As the problem of a being in a small guild, the best solution to that is as follows:
1) Make new friends and invite them to your guild
2) Join forces with other guilds (i.e. Alliances)
3) Join a bigger guild
Be careful Charismatic. Conspiracy theorists HATE it when you present data, as they have a hard time arguing against facts.
As for your chart, you should do one everyday this week, then chart the price movements into a single graph to see how they perform against each other. Although I do admit that a daily snapshot isn’t as accurate as one would like, seeing as how there’s constant movement 24/7 between snapshots.
If Blizzard hired economists like John, their in-game market wouldn’t have been so unstable.

There’s an internal cap on how much individuals can spend. It’s to combat potential creditcard fraud. I know of people who reached this cap, and just contacted support for an override.
Either visit Nate’s link above, or look at the Sticky Threads here (they’re the ones in BOLD Red letters with Anet chat bubble logos next to them): https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account
This is not about giving players who like to gamble something to work for. It’s about Anet taking advantage of those people to line their own pockets.
Gambling addiction is a disability that Anet should not exploit off of.
uhm, last time i looked, Anet is a company…and a company wants profits….
imagine with me, a land in which Anet gives everyone as much gold as they want to buy stuff in the in game store….or a way to get every skin in the game
how much money is anet making…to continue their plans of delivering content every month?
zero
that means NCsoft starts laying people off to cut back on labor
you guys want content, which doesn’t just come out of thin air, but you also want to aim the crosshairs at anet every time they try to make some money
Good companies make their customers happy by providing good products at a reasonable price with minimal profit. This insures that the customer is more likely to do repeat business with that company.
This is also a way to lose customers. When everyone gets what they want, the game becomes stale, and people move on. Why play a game where you’re guaranteed to get whatever you want? There’s no challenge and no prestige in getting stuff.
I had opened 20 BL chests and no fused ticket! Seriously I see only one reason of putting new skins in BL chest: GREED. In Guild Wars 1 everyone could get event skin via quest or mission and it was nice and in propper way. We DO NOT need to have some special exclusive weapons cuz we have legendaries which suck so bad in becasue of “1 precursor-per-month-per-server” drop rate. Now I hate those fused weps because they are almost unavaible for normal players. You want us to spend dollars on those keys? Cuz gem price for gold is too high, and You know why because you were rising this price due to promotions etc.
What frustrate me more that our “free market” Is not free at all. Just saying… And you can’t buy or sell whatever you want cuz soulbound. Main reason? WE JUST SAY SO and It won’t be logical at all. Ascended rings which i have like 10 and don’t know to sell them for 4s (lol) or keep because maybe arenanet allows me to throw them in mistic toilet just to get another crap.
Oh and one more thing. On black lion key there is note: “you can obtain this key from random monsters”. Now that’s the biggest lie in this game. I have played 1000 hours and no key droped from monsters. All were from TP, missions or map completion. Change this note or change drop rate for keys.
Also I would like to see some npc/mf recipe which will change those @#%* boosters which I do NOT want to have or use cuz they are pointless in the later state of game. They just took valuable place in eq/depo.
Counter argument that nullifies this post: Legendaries, Fused, and Holiday weapons are not required to play this game. They are all optional additions to this game.
Have a nice day!
Just like explaining the person your argument is completely optional and not required for you to continue with your life.
Life is optional. But I choose to live mine, since I have a Legendary to shoot unicorns with.
I get the impression that people don’t like this random chance stuff.
And easy solution to this is not to roll the dice.

Precursors drop from Dragon chests. Nuff said.
It’s working as intended. It’s a very rare item. Should something drop often, then it wouldn’t be rare. So it’s only logical for a rare item to actually be rare.
And here’s some further information on the issue at hand
Dang. Someone undercut my Dusk. I’ll have to fix that when I get home.
I got 3 rares from the chest, and 1 from the bonus chest yesterday.
If ArenaNet tried to cap the price of the Hunter, say at 200g, then there would be way too many people willing to buy the Hunter, but not enough Hunters.
So, what? If Hunters run out of stock, there will be eventually somebody who will loot it again and sell it, i don’t see any problem in that.
Except the person who now looted a now “out-of-stock” Hunter is also just as likely to try selling it for more than 200g outside of the trading post knowing that they are obviously in short supply. Putting an artificial cap on the price for people using “legitimate” channels, just funnels people to the less “legitimate” ones.
Like there isn’t already people who sells stuff out the TP in order to avoid the taxes.
And it’s those people who post threads about getting scammed out of their Dusk.
A similar situation happened with me. The result is they permanently lost gem sales from both myself and my best friend (who was also affected). We were planning on buying more gems too before it happened. The difference was only 200 gems for the each of us, but apparently that was worth losing all future sales from two customers.
See my post above. Replace Skolar’s name with yours.
But Skolar, did you complain when you first paid for the transfer? You paid the Gem amount needed at the time, and you got what you wanted. So what’s the problem?
Edit – Do you complain when you buy milk at the store one week, then it goes on sale the next? Did you ever buy a new pair of shoes, and it goes on sale the following month?
If they were giving away that pair of shoes for free two days after I bought it I sure would complain!
But the key question here is “When you made the decision to pay for something, and you received exactly what you wanted for said price, did you complain?”
You’re missing the point, the key question is "how does that make you feel when you buy something expensive (relatively speaking) and it goes for free two days later? "
You have every right to complain, but the point is, you made the choice to spend the money to get something you wanted. Hindsight is always 20/20. If I knew Crystalline Dust would skyrocket, I would have 4 mule characters with nothing but stacks of dust.

.
So only the people in line first would be able to buy it. All the others are queued would be screwed because they can’t offer more to get in front of the line.
You gotta think how changes affect everyone, not just your own personal desires.
The final boss event is at the end of a 4 event chain, so when you say “it hasn’t started” it might simply mean that one of the earlier events hasn’t been completed yet. Camping at the final boss location and waiting for the event to start won’t do anything unless other players are running the other events.
Considering 200-300 people are at that event waiting for it at any given time I think it would be fairly obvious that is not what he was talking about.
I’ll rephrase his question to a more direct version:
Why was the timer on the Maw event chain reduced to happen significantly less often?
300 people waiting for the event does not equal 300 people doing the pre-events.

One thing I wonder, is the Age restriction on GW2 is 12 yrs old, yet the game clearly encourages gambling…
Also, its not virtual money…because you buy gems with real life currency…so its gambling with real money…
I wonder how many politicans in government of whatever countries know this is happening and would they be interested?
I certainly could see the age limit being raised to 18+ at the very least…
You can buy Gems with in game Gold you earn by just playing normally. And besides, Anet isn’t forcing you to spend any real money at all. If a player can’t control his or her own OCD impulses to have the next great Shiny from a chest, then the problem is on the their end.

Statistically inaccurate
Surveying forums leads to massive biases including Sample Bias and Response Bias. In this case there are at least 3 other biases not being accounted for off the top of my head.
Oh boy! A new game! Let me try to name the biases of the OP:
1) Funding outcome bias
2) Detection bias
3) Reporting bias
4) Data sniffing bias
5) Analytical bias
6) Exclusion bias

Welcome to the forums Janson! It’s always nice to see someone from Anet shut down a complainer with facts. Although I do feel a tiny bit bad for the OP, seeing as how he pretty much pwn’d himself.
Sure is when you compare to the prices of today.
See: unattainable.
If by unattainable you mean having 3 in the bank, then yes.
Currently Fractal Skin acquisition is unacceptable. Currently depends only on a once daily RNG roll with horrible drop rates with no alternative Non-rng method. There is nothing prestigious about hitting the RNG lotto.
From my experience, if you do lv 38+ daily, the Fractal weapons drop often. I’ve gotten around 5 different ones so far. I can understand why you’d be mad if you’re only doing low level FotM runs, as I don’t think Fractal weapons drop (or maybe more rarely drop) from such low levels.
I’d love to pay 300 gold for Dusk. That’s pretty dang cheap.
Not everyone is at the same skill level. The unfortunate newbie trying to help may cause problems, but that’s where communication helps. Pm the guy, and tell him what you’re trying to do. If he doesn’t listen, back off, and allow him to be down, and not rez him back up.
Half Backed isn’t poorly design, but rather smartly designed. In order to kill him, you gotta know what you’re doing. You can’t just Glass Cannon or Zerg him. Half my team ended up on their rears on the ground, but we still manage to kill him. Lessons learned, and we’ll get better with each go.
But this thread isn’t really about “I can’t do it” or “It’s too hard”
It’s about “This is boring….”
As nice as the rewards are for guild bounties, it’s simply the most boring thing to do. Conglomorate guilds can do anything and everything, but an average sized guild has to spend that first 45 minutes scouting and planning (and praying that Half-Baked doesn’t show up on the bounty list). And that basically amounts to scouting out bounties, hoping no other guild kills it, hoping it shows up on your list, and hoping everyone in the guild gets a chance to tag a bounty.
It’s boring. But to do any of the other guild missions, you have to do it.
Sometimes to get nice things you have to do boring things. Jobs (not all) usually suck, but the money you get for doing them is nice. Going to college every day for 2-8 years is kinda boring, but the degree that gets you 30k-400k+ is nice. Sometimes you need to work for a reward that you are more fond of. Some people find a way to make even the boring stuff seem fun, which makes the not so boring stuff even more fun. It isn’t all Anets job to make the game fun, some part of it is on the players themselves.
LOL! That’s so true. Heaven forbid you have to put up with school so you can advance yourself in the real world. :P
The best time to make money off of the TP is that 1 hour time between the release of the patch notes, and right before the game gets updated. Gobble up all the goodies that people will want, then resell for outrageous markups.
Hey all! Just wanted to clarify something for you: racial armors will not be available through WvW. We’ve contacted MMORPG.com so they can correct that information.
Thanks, and sorry for the confusion!
This… made me a sad penguin…
It all depends on your skill level. If you have skill, you can play any class and do well. Skill also helps when trying to counter the meta Thief and Ele players.
But how the heck do you come up with a strategy that involves people NOT IN YOUR GUILD?
See my quote from the other thread:
The way to get around the Guild size problem is as follows:
1) Make more friends
2) Invite more people to your guild
3) Join a bigger guild
4) Create an alliance with other guildsAs you can see, it’s really simple. By following one of the above options, you’ll have more people in which to do Guild Bounties. But if you can’t get others to join in on the bounty hunt, then these missions aren’t for you. Asking Anet to make an “easy mode” button is like asking them to water down the Claw of Jormag so you can solo him.
tl;dr – If you don’t have a group for a “Group Event”, you can’t do it. You can have up to 4 guilds at a time, so go make friends and join a larger guild. Otherwise, recruit more people to your own.
Funny, because most of the open world can be done via en mass leeroying, also known as zerging.
And yet you can’t kill Half Baked right?
Indeed. But if the game is designed for strategy, how come he is the exception rather than the norm? ANet fail?
There’s a big difference between killing some random, roaming monster, and a boss bounty. Once you learn the this key difference, your skill level goes up +5.
If lv 100 FotM drops guaranteed Precursors, I’m so investing in Res Orbs.
Oh boy! If you think Cultural Armors are expensive, just wait until the Legendary Armors come out.
Funny, because most of the open world can be done via en mass leeroying, also known as zerging.
And yet you can’t kill Half Baked right?
This game was designed on strategy, not hack and slash. So if you go in Leeroying with no plan, Half Baked will drop you. If you fail and try again, and keep using the same strategy, and fail more, it’s not the game you should be complaining about.
I’m just gonna apologize, because I can’t understand where the frustration stems from.
Well those could be many. Might wanna do some self-research next time if above words dont grasp you.
You described why it’s so hard to do t3 Bounty Hunts and why it’s unfair. And that it should scale down for small guilds.
I ask you, why do you want to do t3 Bounty Hunts? For Guild Commendations? For Guild Merits? Why can’t you just do t1 Bounty? It gives you the same amount of Guild Commendations and a little bit less Merits (15 vs 25). I mean, we already have scaling difficulty with t1/t2/t3. You’ll just be earning merits a bit slower than a large guild, and I think that’s fair especially when the individualistic rewards (which you don’t even need to complete the bounty itself to get, just kill one target.) are the exact same.
Like I said, I just don’t understand the frustration. What you ask for (scaling for smaller guilds) already exists.
I’m coming to this conversation a bit late, but why would you ever do a T1 or T2? T3 is the only way to get full merits. If you want commendations, T3 is the easiest way to get them.
If we’ve already got our merits and just need commendations for some members who missed it, we’ll run a tier 3, go to the easiest of the 6 and kill it and then just abandon the rest.
If you run a 1 or 2 you have less options in the ones you can kill. As they all cost the same to build I see absolutely no reason to ever build a tier 1 or tier 2 bounty.
I agree that doing T3 does give more options if you’re only in it for the Commendations. But some guilds actually need the Merits to unlock other Guild Missions.
The issue isn’t on Anet’s end. It’s with the users with poor security or just bad luck. By poor security, I mean reusing login/password combos from other sites that may have been compromised or using weak passwords in general. By bad luck, I mean using the same passwords that someone else with poor security used.
So by closing your account, you do nothing to protect yourself, since the RMT companies already have your valid credentials. Changing your e-mail passwords are the best thing you can do. I would recommend first doing a fresh install of your OS on your HD to make sure you have no hidden malware.
snip
You’re not doing it wrong. You just misunderstand the “team play” aspect. You need to work as a team to find the bounties, then work as team to capture them. I don’t know how you come to the conclusion that splitting up does not equal team work. My guild WäR on the Maguuma server is one of the top guilds in game, and when we WvW, we may break into small 3 to 5 man teams, and also split into separate voice channels. It doesn’t mean we’re out of touch with each other. Should our Commander need us, we all form our super zerg ball.
Let’s calm down a bit, this isn’t getting us far. Instead let me ask this.
Here are the assumptions that I’m operating under for this question:
1. You feel that PvE and TP have difference levels of gold earning
2. You feel that PvE and TP should have the same level of gold earningWhat would be your plan for implementing a reward system that would achieve what you desire, given the constraint that you may not get rid of the trading post?
Can we change the trading post?
Here’s my thoughts. There could be a single price for an item on the TP separated by some fixed amount (ummm… maybe 30% (foreshadowing)). The price of the item could be set by how many are available at any given time. If more people want to buy the item than sell it, the price goes up, if more people want to sell it than buy it the price goes down.
Exactly like the gems in the gem store.
But if you take away the ability to set prices, how am I supposed to manipu… err… price my goods for what I want to sell them for? That’s so unfair mate.
OP – You could always just make a Precursor using the Mystic Forge method. It’s a lot more fun than waiting for TP prices to drop. And it’s technically free if you farm a lot, and get Rares/Exotics of the weapon you want.
400g fun. Sure is. A lot of fun. The toilet is so much fun.
And no I’m not alone on that either. I know multiple people who were driven to the same ditch.
I’m glad you agree! I’m working on my second Legendary, so I know how frustrating it is to have to get your Precursor. But at least we can have fun with Zommoro’s RNG!
Wow. This thread is still alive? I’ll help solve this problem so everyone can be happy. The way to get around the Guild size problem is as follows:
(snip)So, your solution to the “small guild problem” is to become a big guild.
Way to miss the core of the problem.
So your solution is to make everything “easy mode”? If your guild doesn’t have the people and/or skill to complete harder missions, team up with other people who have more members and/or skill than what you have. There is a social aspect to this game, and the Guild Bounties are a good example of why you need friends.
note – Friends are not required to have fun in this game. There’s a lot to do in this game by yourself. But if you’re a solo player who wants to do group events/missions, time to change your play style.

I’d be against this. It would just be another place for conspiracy theorists to scream “manipulator” should their futures tank.

Eagerly anticipating the manifesto for this revolution!
“I swung my sword. I swung my sword again. Hey, I got something of value for it instead of more mudflating coin!”
LOL! I love it! But also remember that value is in the eye of the beholder.
Hello, I got a problem that’s quite similar to gebrechen’s problem.
You see a member of my guild (The Black Skulls on European server Piken square) took everything in our guildstash and then left our guild. So my question is: How do I report this? and will I ever see those items back? + how can I send you guys screenshots (from the history tab) so you can see my proof.
See Gaile’s reply above your post for instructions.
And you won’t get anything back, as there’s no way to currently roll back Guild banks.
Why do I have to authenticate multiple times?

Thing is, it says it’s the same location every time, yet I still have to authenticate it.. I am only using GW2 on this one computer.
Thank you very much for answering!
Same location does not equal same exact IP. Check with your ISP and ask if your IP address rotates/changes.
