If the OP is mad about 50 Skill Points, don’t tell him what Legendary weapons cost.
1: precursors as is now, will indeed increase for ever, as gold will never stop dropping in value.
2: It is not unusual for casuals to play as little as 5-6 hours a week.
3: thats 30 hours a month just to keep up with the price increase, this dosnt sound strange/unreasonable to anyone?
4: Yes it actually mean casuals cannot get it, without sacreficing real life time, which again means they are no longer casuals.
1 – Precursor prices should drop around the time the Scavenger Hunt comes out
3 & 4 – You make the mistake that there’s some imposed time frame in which to get a Legendary. It’s possible that a very casual player could still get theirs in a year or so. That’s taking into account any Precursor hunt.
I actually never thought about doing D-runs for tokens, then converting into Greatswords. I’ve been crafting Rares with all the T5 mats I find to throw into the Forge.
But back to this topic. It just irritates me that people keep on complaining over and over again. Perhaps a way to end the complaints would be for Anet to stealth nerf all Precursors, and make them Account Bound? But only after they implement the “scavenger hunt” idea.
I’d really like to know why you’re so upset over a €0.05 difference per 1US dollar? Is money so tight that €0.05 is game changing? If so, perhaps you should consider seeking some professional help, because I think you may have an MMO addiction. We players care for the well being of our brother gamers.
I’ll take your reply as a joke because you can’t possibly be that dumb.
I’m not upset, I’m a bit concerned about the fact that Anet is literally overpricing gem cost in any currency that is not USD with no reasons.
Again, I ask why you are so upset with a a €0.05 difference per 1US dollar? I’m being very serious, as I can’t understand how you can be serious.
I guess I my words are a bit off, since I’m not factoring in the costs of either crafting the rares or the opportunity costs of not selling rare drops. So my apologies to Ursan and Rising. But the underlying reasoning would be that there are other ways to get a Precursor than just buying it off of the TP.
Hey, another complaint thread about Legendaries. There’s already been discussion on this very topic.
I think the basis of all those discussions is: Who of the player base should be able to get a Legendary.
On the one hand there are Vol., Ursan and Goldi, who say they should just be available for the most hardworking players.
On the other hand there are players like me, who started with their legendary a long time ago, when we had no idea how it would develop and who are now sitting on their gifts without precursors. And so we can’t understand why we shouldn’t get our legendary after we spent many hundreds of hours working for the gifts.Well in fact, I can totally unterstand guys like Vol., but it’s not my opinion.
And as long as Anet doesn’t give a statement about who shall be supposed to get a legendary the discussions will go on.
Let’s put this to rest. ANYONE can get a Legendary weapon. Anet put in the requirements into the game, and it’s up to the individual to decide if that’s for them or not. Be it a Casual player or Hardcore player or anyone in between, there’s nothing stopping us from reaching our goal.
The real issue here is Entitlement. They want their stuff, and they want it now. Some players don’t want to spend the time it takes to get all the Mats, so they shortcut the process by purchasing from the TP. From Precursors to T6, if another player has it for sale, it’s an opportunity for them to get it faster than on their own. But heaven forbid a player paying a price for Dusk that another player feels is unjust.
And I’ll repeat this line because a lot of people fail to remember: Precursors are free from the Mystic Forge. You just need a lot of luck, because <gasp> it’s RARE </gasp>.
. You have VAT and conversion rates and fees to consider.
I understand VAT but how do you know that Anet is converting and is paying fees?
I’d really like to know why you’re so upset over a €0.05 difference per 1US dollar? Is money so tight that €0.05 is game changing? If so, perhaps you should consider seeking some professional help, because I think you may have an MMO addiction. We players care for the well being of our brother gamers.
Perhaps if you switch the “B” and the “M” of the two names, it appears to be naughty?
Account security is Anet’s business when you get hacked, and have to respond to your tickets. Unless you agree to not request help with any account recoveries, I think the current policy with password changes is ok.
Maybe shocking the market wouldn’t be the worst idea.
It’s already at an abnormal level, so who cares if the answer is negative and the prices go further up?
We can’t afford it now, so worst case is no change^^
Precursors are free if you get them from the Mystic Forge.
If over 30 Dusks have been sold recently, that can mean the current price for them is reasonable.
Again, you don’t understand the point: we are charged 50 cents more than the supposed price+VAT.
Will USA players be happy about the fact that 800 gems are no longer 10$ but 10,5$ without any explainable reason while others still pay the same?
It’s only a €0.05 difference per 1US dollar. You’re only seeing a bigger difference of €0.50 because you’re multiplying it out by 10, thus trying to make a bigger deal than it is. At least you’re not saying it’s a €50 difference with each $1000 transaction.
Sorry, there are no refunds for mistakes. You can always make a new character that can use the skin.
It would be very unwise for them to just say “Sure, we’ll pay the taxes!” In your eyes, they’re not losing anything. But, your eyes are wrong.
But they ARE NOT losing anything.
We do pay the gems value, taxes and even a tip (the 50 cents).Just because they do not pay out of their pockets does not mean they are not losing anything. Cutting profits doesn’t count as a loss?
You simply do not understand how it works, do you?
I think maybe he’s having some feelings of entitlement? That can be the only explanation for someone wanting a business to give up revenue to satisfy their personal needs.
OP obviously hasn’t been looking at the t6 prices since the patch. The price of bloods has not doubled in the past few days. It’s been hovering from 25-30s.
The only T6 I can remember having a huge increase lately is armored scales.
Actually mate I was watching the blood prices, as I figured these are going to be the most expensive of the t6 mats I have been watching them closely. They were 16 silver a few days ago, trust me I was all over watching th price. It has doubled. The price of blood is ridiculously high, this is not a good barrier for new players trying to craft their first exotics.
If by “a few days ago” you mean “4 weeks ago” then yes, you are correct.
We’re not going to “trust you” on this because we can all look at the history and see the price hasn’t dipped below 25s in the past week.
Maybe he was talking about Truffles instead?
Since this thread is mainly complaining about a €0.05 difference per 1US dollar transactions, perhaps the EU should just convert to American currency already?
I would love to not have to worry about converting monies while taking trips overseas. Is there a way to petition the King or Queen of Europe for this change to be considered?
RNG plays a big factor. You can be really lucky, and get 7 rare drops in one Fractal run, or you may have a dry spell with the occasional rare here and there. If you want to maximize your chances to get rares, you should invest in getting as high a Magic Find bonus as possible.
I highly doubt it’s a problem with your account.
While this is a minor bug, it pains me greatly. Whenever I use Cluster Bomb on my Thief with the Dreamer shortbow, it doesn’t always rain unicorns. On low height/arc detonations, it will rain 3 unicorns in place of the bombs. Tis a great sight that makes me all warm and tingly on the inside. However, on high arc detonations, the unicorns vanish, and I just get unsightly bombs instead.

I feel my account is now extreamly unsafe!
in order to change my password I had to type in 3 words
this has resulted in every hacker in the world knowing what to look for
my old password was far safer then what I have now.
If your were unable to change your password initially, that probably means you selected new passwords that were blacklisted. The 3 or 4 word combination was just a suggestion.
There’s currently no problem with Precursors, since you get them for free from the Mystic Forge. There’s no need to buy them from the Trading Post.
I really think they need to adjust lodestone drops.
Then the prices of lodestones would drop
In a virtually economy like this one, that isn’t necessarily true. Because of the ease of entry, it’s not uncommon to see an item become more common, more players receive the item naturally and enter the market, creating more demand and increasing prices instead of decreasing prices.
I had the same observation as Vol about Powerful Blood. Very interesting.
Out of curiosity, if you did want to lower the market price of an item in the game, how would you do it?
Increasing the drop rate of a popular item can increase the price, because Demand outpaces Supply. However, if Anet wanted to truly drop prices in a player controlled market, they’d have to compete directly with the players by offering the Powerful Bloods in the Gem Store.
2 offers at the same level doesn’t have the psychological effect as 2 different have. This way many think, there are many normal players who have that much money.
I know a guy who have about 20 Dusks and thousands of gold.
And yes, of course legitimate it is a difference. But we’re talking about influences on the price of precursors. And therefore it doesn’t make any difference who controls the market.
However, I don’t want to fight against you, you can’t disprove what I said. You are just telling me that there is a small chance, that I’m wrong. And yeah, that’s totally true. My thesis is right to a certain probability. And 1 – this probability is the chance that you’re right.
Everyone has to choose what he considers to be more probable
Looking at all your posts, you have one major misunderstanding that counters all your arguments: RMT/Gold Sellers do not control the market, since you can get them for free from the Mystic Forge.
Open markets + 24/7 game time (not counting maintenance or other downtime) + millions of players = lots of movement on the Trading Post. I’m sure there are other people in the game who wanted The Lover, and perhaps can afford to list Buy Offers. I know for a fact, because I bought one.
The system is very efficient. My friend’s sister was hacked, and a Support Team member responded to her within minutes. Within 30 minutes, she was back in game, but the roll back took much longer.
It’s all about priority. Hacked accounts are more important that someone who is upset they broke the rules and doesn’t like the punishment.

The problem I have is they ban/suspend first and ask questions later. They should get in contact with the individual first discuss the issue and give them a warning and if the problem persists they can then ban/suspended. I am dealing with a suspension of my own and am none to pleased about the way they are handling it because it is very unprofessional. I would have to say this has been the worst customer support experience I have ever had which is sad because I very much enjoy there product but with a experience like this my view on ArenaNet has changed and I honestly don’t know if I can recommended there products any more considering how poor there customer service is.
Why should they do it your way instead of their current way? You were told not to create an offensive/inappropriate name, you broke that rule, you pay the consequences. Why do they need to discuss this with you at all? If they do not enforce their own rules, then the rules become meaningless. It sounds like your reasoning is that “I didn’t know it was an offensive name”. That’s not a valid reason for you not to serve the suspension. You don’t get out of a ticket by telling the officer that you didn’t know you were speeding…
I am a customer who bought there product. Haven’t you ever heard the phrase the customer is always right? If you go to a restaurant and order food and it comes out and you don’t like it you can just send it back and they will take it back because they want to please the customer. The food could have been cooked to perfection but it doesn’t matter they want to please the customer. All I want is to discuss the issue that’s a very simple request. If I had a issue with ebay about a offensive name issue they would discuss the issue with me. If I had a offensive name on Xbox Live that violates the rules they would just have me change the name with no suspension (That’s a fact not a opinion). Your example with a speeding ticket is a joke. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Bottom line all they had to do is send me a email informing me of the issue and the name would have been changed.
The customer is always right, until they are wrong. I’m sorry you broke a rule.
ps – Anet doesn’t sell food.
Legendary weapons should be the rarest of the rare. So it would be best to up the requirement to 250 Clovers.

Mint, Gaile already responded to the question at hand.
To me it seems he wants 2k free. Since laughably it will take him/her less time to get the abstract ready and do the ‘experiment’ (if you call it that) then it would to make the 2k since it takes forever to make that much money.
No, I’m still working on my thesis. I can’t do that and farm Gold at the same time without use of third party programs that are strictly forbidden.
One thing I have wondered:
if someone sells 10,000 gems for gold, then someone else buys 10,000 gems with gold, will the gem->gold price be the same after as before? (is it the same increase as decrease?)also, I’d like to point out (I’m not sure if Anet has thought of and accounted for this):
if you sell 100 gems you get (as an example) 1.5g. if you buy 1.5g worth of gems, you will only get like 85 gems (for example). However, when someone sells 100 gems for 1.5g, the exchange rate goes down so the next 100 gems may only give 1.499g. and that 1.5g would then buy 85.01 gems. If this is the case, then it’s only a matter of quantity before it’s possible to make instant profit from buying/selling gems. example: sell 100,000 gems and get 1,500g, then price of gems goes down to 100 gems for 1g, then you buy 100,000 gems for 1,150g (I’m assuming it costs 15% more to buy gems than selling them will bring)
This was an exploit in Fable and many other games. I would hate for it to exist here as well. It is very possible to have less simplistic mechanics that make this impossible.I thought of this before release, it won’t work; although I highly encourage you to give it a shot
And yet another reason why we all love John Smith.
Dude, I would seriously consider deleting this thread. Not only can I see your e-mail address and password length, but I can also see you have an interesting taste of bookmarks…
In fact, I would consider asking to having the e-mail address changed on your account, because an RMT bot to try and brute force your password.
Can you explain on how, when you buy gems, and it is converted to gold in game, where does the gold come from? Is this from the 15% that is taken with sales on the TP/tax?
Its the Charr who owns the TP that buys the Gems from you.
Simple as that.
He lurvs dem Gems.
No ways dude. John Smith’s real job is to manually send Gold to everyone who converts them from Gems. He uses voodoo magic to create the Gold from used chewing gum and potato chips left over from the last Dev meeting. Gaile then does the Anet Haka to bind the pixels to your account so it doesn’t disappear. This process is then repeated every single time someone converts their Gems.
It’s because of the superior sigil of fire that’s on it.
Shhhhhh, you’ll dispel the conspiracy theories.
I wish we players could farm enough of the blasted items to move the ‘intended’ equilibrium closer to where it was when the bots were around.
Amen, 20s+ for one vial of blood is laughable.
Is it laughable that you can’t afford it? Or is it laughable that people continually pay these prices, thus justifying the price point at the moment?
I can afford it, but that doesnt mean my opinion of items being stupidly over priced is wrong. You can try to debate the supply/demand thing all you want, I know how it works. Many people keep using that as a crutch to lean on when others bring up very valid points.
Heck, in my opinion, I’d like the prices to be lower too. That way I can buy them all and manipul… err… resell them later on.
I’ve heard that Europe has some crazy taxes (i.e. VAT). Digital services purchases over the internet is subject to VAT. Perhaps that’s involved outside of any exchange rates?
True, but 250 charged lodestones right now is roughly 1000 gold.
To make a similar Legendary, for instance, Bolt, would cost me roughly 350 gold in lodestones, and the rest I mostly have gotten from playing the game.
Its not the regular mats that are really holding people back from a lot of the nicer looking weapons, its the lodestones.
I really think they need to adjust lodestone drops.
They need to kick out a lot of the older TP listings too, as 80% of the lodestones actually listed right now (not the ones that get posted and are immediately sold) Are set at a price that is not even close to the going rate right now.
Also, the ONLY Infinite Light on the TP is listed at 2000 gold, which is right around what the Legendaries are going for.
Another mistake you’re making – Anet does NOT set the prices. Players do. So while you may be only looking at Lodestone prices, keep in mind that players determine that price point. Legendaries have far more requirements to fill than just a single high-tier item.
Why do some Exotic weapons cost more than Legendaries? Legendaries are supposed to be the rarest skins, and yet I see multitudes of them, and I’ve only ever run across Infinite Light ONCE, and never seen a Mjolnir.
This is kitten backwards. It should not cost 2.5 times the lodestones for an exotic than a Legendary weapon.
Note – Legendary weapons cost more than just Lodestones.
A quick note here to reinforce that supply orders do not necessarily imply supply. In the last 24 hours apprx 50,000 of these were sold on the TP.
…with around 20 of those being mine – posted well above the lowest standing sale offer, and yet being bought before I checked back a few hours later.
I feel like a lot of commonly traded items are subject to the lunar tides. I game late at night by USA standards, post all my stuff well above lowest sales offer pices, and come dawn, the buyer tide comes in and my stuff sells.
People say “buy low, sell high.” I’m starting to say “buy around pre-dawn, price all goods for sale around late afternoon.”
I personally feel that you should not purchase anything at night. The gravitational pull of the moon affects our judgements as they do the tides, so any decision made before the Sun Lord shows up is subject to scrutiny.
Wait, people in France play this game? I thought it was only North America and Europe?
But as for your post, Anet doesn’t control the prices, we players do.
My bad my bad, I was thinking United Kingdom, with Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England.
haha, thanks for the laugh. people from all over the world play this game, not just NA and EU.
I was thinking that our German friends were the only ones in Europe that played.
I don’t think I am. I think that they have a formula in place that all money that is put out, comes back in, to keep the economy stable and ensure that it cannot be widely affected.
And if you think that the 15% is being flushed, to what end? Just because?
So in order for one of us to “make” money via drops from enemies, someone across the game servers needs to “lose” the money first?
Think about the total supply of money.
Then also consider happenings inside the game (sales, new items) and how the currency exchange works. You’ll have your answer.
We don’t care of your logic. We don’t care of what you think. WE DON’T CARE
Stop talking ,and do something !!Change the rewards in chests; glob of ectoplasm, t6 crafting materials, more gold items
Do something about Charged Lodestone, all the prices begin again insane …
Do something about precursor !There are others problems that your stupid res-rushing !
I’m a french player and i’m in the obligation to come here because nobody answers us on our forumRather than to ruin dungeon, try to make something useful, for everybody, fix your kittening prices !!!

@ Iures.2894
Let me rephrase. You should be able to plot a trend line (i.e. linear line of best fit), however this should not actually appear in the graph (i.e. straight line). Once again, economical data is based on a quasi-chaotic system. If you remove this from the equation then realisticly speaking you should get zero gradient, however this is not the case here, hence there is an underlining factor added to the gem/gold exchange which can be associated to manipulation.
LOL! I love how you Google stuff and try to make baseless arguments by comparing apples to oranges.
So from your “expert” options, should I convert 1,000 Gems into Gold, that creates an abnormal movement in a straight line, causing inflation, and thus meaning I’m a market manipulator?
Are you a professor? Because I think I’ve just been schooled.
OCD – Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions).
From a gameplay perspective, you need exotics/ascended to access gated content (fractals) and gain max stats available in game.
Legendaries offer you no additional content, nor any power increase. So from a gameplay perspective, it’s not needed.
You seem to have misplaced the last of my paragraphs – from a “gameplay perspective” they are absolutely necessessary – filling in those seals is the top teir of all gameplay objectives, and only a legendary will do it.
I dont’ even think of them cosmetically – most of them would look like goat-butt on my characters, but filling in those seals? Yeah, I’m putting in some hours for THAT goal. I finished getting apex stats quite a while ago. If that was all there was to do, I’d be banging down the door of ESO, not hanging out doing stuff here
.
You’re misunderstanding something here. You don’t “need” to fill all those seals. You “want” to.
There’s a difference between being Required to do something, and the Desire to do it.
Add 1 “g” to your name, and it becomes the typical racial slur spelling.
The thing you need to realize here is this isn’t about which words are real or legitimate, or even if it’s not offensive to you personally. It’s about how others may view it. So if you had that name for 5 months, and someone reported it recently, that just means you got away with it for 5 months.
Edit – to make it easier for you to understand, I don’t speak Latin, and I don’t know geography. So when I first saw your name, I immediately thought of the racial slur.

Buy them from the Trading Post.
Just make one in the Mystic Forge. It’s not that hard. Just keep throwing lv 80 Rares of the weapon type you want, and a Precursor will pop out eventually.
