The item is unique due to it’s looks and effects, not it’s rarity.
FTFY The item is unique due to it’s looks, effects, and it’s rarity.
Well news flash you cannot make the item more rare now.
Would be like throwing a cannonball i nthe face of players working hard for it since launch but that don’t have the time of the trihards that got it in1 month.
To add to this, making the item less rare is the same.
Honestly, if it’s a problem with Windows, and Anet has no control over it, there’s no sense in getting mad at Anet. It’s not their responsibility to fix Microsoft’s problems.
And by the way, you talking about Anet having to buy you a new OS or refund your money, here’s a little copy/pasta portion of the User Agreement:
4. ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT
“YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT NCSOFT HAS NO OBLIGATION TO REFUND ANY PAYMENTS, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, RELATED TO AN ACCOUNT WHETHER OR NOT SUCH PAYMENTS WERE MADE OR AUTHORIZED BY YOU, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INTERRUPTION OR UNAVAILABILITY OF SERVICE (SEE ALSO SECTION 10). YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, AND FURTHER AGREE, THAT NCSOFT MAY, IN ITS SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION, TERMINATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3© ANY ACCOUNT RELATED TO ANY ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN A REFUND OF ANY PAYMENTS, WHETHER SUCH ATTEMPTS ARE MADE BY CONTACTING AN ISSUER OF CREDIT CARDS OR OTHERWISE, AND THAT NCSOFT MAY TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION IT DEEMS APPROPRIATE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO RECOURSE BY WAY OF ANY COLLECTION AGENCY AND/OR CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY WHEN A REFUND HAS BEEN OBTAINED WITHOUT SIGNED WRITTEN CONSENT FROM A LEGALLY AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF NCSOFT. "
I’m well aware that a warrior or ranger traited for sPvP will probably wipe the floor with a thief if both players are of similar skill level.
Wait wait wait. Did you just now say that Warriors and Rangers are OP? Where does it all end???
Maybe we should just eliminate all classes, and bring in a new one called “Normal Guy”. The class has Traits like Education, Life Skills, Gym Membership, Tailoring, and Cooking. He can’t jump too high, running uses up endurance, and fall damage takes a long time to heal.
You can still transfer your account to a different server, with all characters intact, without spending real money. Just buy Gems with in game Gold.
Dual Incinerator is quite rare. Less rare with free Sparks.
“Norn have Stealth. Norn are OP. Norn nerf required please.”
Sounds silly right? So does a majority of the complaints with Thieves.
Is the Zoomunlocker Program Safe or Not

Another way to look at this: If you feel the program in question doesn’t give any advantages, why bother installing it?
The only time someone wants to mod the game is to gain some type of advantage. It’s never a “just because” reason.
It probably came out the wrong way, but there is a part of me that wants the rare item to be rare. That’s the main reason why I invested so much time PvEing from pre-launch. I wanted an item that was hard to get, thus was unique, thus has some status to holding it. I wasn’t smart enough to flip on the TP early, and didn’t get lucky finding exploits. I farmed Orr for Karma trains (before I started WvWing), did the JP that gives T6 mats on a daily basis, and yes I farmed Sparks for hours at a time.
For the record, I joined [WäR] because I’m so in love with Duke.
ps – I’ll give you 100 Gold for my Guild Penguin rank.
The problem here isn’t with the promotion of Gem based RNG chests. The real problem is the players who are obsessed with getting rare virtual items through RNG. But there’s a simple solution to this, and many other people have said this: If you don’t want to spend real money on the chests, don’t buy them with real money.
There’s nothing morally wrong (or illegal) for a company to offer a product that has a built in RNG mechanic. Having the nice skin isn’t required to play this game. If this game were free to play, but then it required players to purchase a special key to finish the game, then you’d have reason to complain.
I spent 2 hours last nite farming the arena to get this title. It takes a combination of luck and skill. What do I mean by that? Well, if you’re lucky, and everyone isn’t paying attention, they’ll get rolled over by the Veteran Karkas. But if you’re a skilled player, you run in a way to get players roughly in the same area as you and the Veterans, then you dash directly through them, making them stop and turn around. This is the time when the Veterans usually do their roll attack. Do note that it takes some skill to keep the crab long enough for you to ball the group near a Veteran.
My only complaint about this achievement is that I can’t display it.
It’s called Opportunity Costs. If I’m in the middle of farming, and I need to make room in my inventory, I have the following options:
1) Pop a temporary merchant to sell my items.
2) Quit farming, and WP to the nearest merchant NPC.
3) Sell the cheapy stuff on the TP, even at a loss. (note – you can sell on the TP anywhere on the map, even in the middle of WvWing).
So as you can see, I need to pick an option, and decide which one makes more sense. WPing costs money, and stops me from farming. Temporary merchants cost Gems. So if I can make some extra room in my inventory for the cost of losing a few Copper in profits, guess what I’ll do.
So much hate over not wanting easy mode? Perhaps it’s all due to a misunderstanding? I’ll try to simplify my position:
1) This game is made so that every player is able to craft their own Legendary weapon, with invested time.
2) Every player who puts in said time deserves to have their Legendary weapon.
3) Barriers are in place to prevent short-cutting this process. However, with the nature of RNG, there are some who’ll get the lucky draw.
4) Purchasing a Legendary requires a legendary amount of Gold, so buying one outright only slightly cheapens the process.
Now then. It’s one thing to have a lot of players have the same Legendary due investing time and resources. It’s another thing if you have a lot of the same Legendaries around due to “easy mode”. Getting a Precursor or farming for tons of Lodestones is one of the main barriers to certain Legendaries. The barrier helps to keep these weapons’ rarity levels high. In my opinion, increased drop rates and/or free Precursors is similar to wanting the “easy mode” button. That cheapens the Legendary weapon far more than being able to buy/sell them on the TP.
I’m sorry you’re jelly of Maguuma’s skill. Feel free to transfer here, and be a Dwarf!
I’m going to buy that new Blade & Soul game, simply because I’m Asian, and I need my Asian gaming fix. And fighting as a Lyn will be quite epic.

Really OP? I’ve been reading your posts in the forums and thought better of you.
What I am reading in your post.
I got mine! Now I don’t want anyone else to get theirs. Make it harder for them ANet.There’s been so much “make it easier for me” threads, that I figured I’d share the opposite point of view. I’ve always said that everyone is capable of crafting their own Legendary weapons, but it takes dedication and time to get everything. If Anet makes it “too easy” to get a Legendary (by way of Precursor or T6/Lodestone drop increases), then some of the value is lost.
It still sounds like, “I got mine. I want to be a special snowflake and and no one else have what I have”. They made it hard enough that a lot of people aren’t trying to get it and it takes several months for the people that are. That’s hard enough. Getting one then asking to make it harder for everyone else is selfish.
And no, I’m not trying for one. You just came across in previous posts as a better person.
One of the whole purposes of having a Legendary weapon is to be that special snowflake. You know what you get when there’s a lot of snowflakes all over the place? Blizzard.
All I’m hearing is “Nerf Thieves because I only know how to hack and slash.”
Word of advice – Some skills can still target a Thief in stealth. Learn to use these certain skills, and you’ll be able to track the movement until they pop out after 4 seconds. Thieves also have a cooldown when attacking from stealth, so they can’t perma-stealth anymore.
Maguuma Commanders get 20+ levels a day doing 6 hour runs. I think OP isn’t standing in the capture circles when claiming a tower or guard post, or killing any players.
LOL you actually believe in that kitten you said or you just taking us all kittenards?
20 lvls is 100k wxp, in 6 hours we talking about 17k (yes, 17,000) wxp per hour, and each tower cap gives 150. That’s 113 towers an hour for 6 hours, every day…
You must be in a low tier server. We have a great matchup with Yaks and Kaineng. Lots of battles on all BLs and EB. And you do realize that you get WXP from not only towers, but guard posts, camps, and killing Invaders too right? You think we just sit around looking for towers and avoiding zergs? We’re Maguuma. We chase zergs or rush head first into them. And when we’re not paying attention, Paralda leads off a cliff like lemmings.
When China gets their servers, maybe some of the Oceanics will transfer there? Then we’ll have EU, NA, and Asia. Balance achieved!
for everyone that say’s they can down good thieves 1 v 1 with ease, please do show us the video? Otherwise, it’s thieves trying to steal the message of the thread.
You can down a good Thief, good Mesmer, good Warrior, etc. It’s all about skill. If your opponent has more skill than you, it won’t be easy.
Karma armor, or WvW Badges armor? Just wanted to clarify, as I’m at work and can’t test it ATM.
All Ascended weapons will probably take stacks of Ecto to craft. Invest while prices are low!

This is probably the main issue people have with WvW thieves and constantly available stealth as well as the greatest mobility.
You really cant ever kill them unless they make a mistake and overcommit themselves. Considering theres loot/badges and now also wxp at stake this seems unfair to every other class that doesnt have either of these options. We will see if the anti stealth fields are effective, all though it sounds like they may only be good for choke points and wont effect open field much.
Personally I think that all the existing sPVP balance tweaks should be applied into wvw, and then look at whether further changes are needed at all.

Note – with enough people, we can melt a Reinforced Gate in less than 5 minutes. Even fast with Golems and Timewarp. So sorry mate, if you lose ground in WvW, that’s just a part of the game.
OP makes no sense. If you cap the PPT, and are always on the losing end, you still lose. 400 PPT to 0 PPT at peak Night hours is the same as 600 PPT to 0 PPT, only it doesn’t hurt as bad. He has yet to explain why there should be a handicap on an opponent’s server simply because he’s asleep. With a cap in place, there’d be no incentive to play.
What if I were to recommend that there be a cap on how many points an individual server can score on their side, based on how many players are in the Borderland/EB? So if OP’s server only had 20 people in their BL at that time, then they can only get a max of 20 PPT. Seem fair?

^ This sums up every single complaint thread.
Yeah, I agree with some of the above posters in that the problem lies in that you can buy the legendary weapons. Frankly, the number of people running around with sunrise is ridiculous, it makes them much less unique.
They should be account bound, as should the precursors. This whole you can buy them on the TP makes them infinitely less epic.
It’s less epic, but since it still takes a lot of money to buy one, it’s still rare. Once they drop to ~500 Gold a pop to buy, then you know we’ve hit rock bottom.
Really OP? I’ve been reading your posts in the forums and thought better of you.

Make a fool of yourself by defending this.
Doing that requires a high level of skill. Not all of us Thieves are skilled ya know. So buffing the Thief class would help to balance things out people like me who doesn’t know how to play correctly.
The more people who convert Gold into Gems, the better the exchange rate will be to buy Gold with Gems. Basically, whenever the price chart has giant spikes, it’s the best time to sell your Gems at the peak.
The best solution is the following steps:
1. Follow the blue dorito on the map until you see the giant zerg ball.
2. Then join the ball and continue following.
3. Profit
WvW Match resets are not the same thing as new builds. We’ll have some updates to arrow carts to share with you when the next build comes through.
By update, I hope you mean you’re adding an “immobilize” condition to AC damage. The damage alone is OK, but people can easily dodge them. “Real” Arrow Carts would stick you in place and kill you with a couple shots.
So to sum it up – Increase AC damage, have targets become immobilized, and maybe lower rate of fire for balance purposes.
Similar to Pavlov’s dog, I need a reason to keep coming back… I just can’t find it in the current loot/reward system.
I think your mistaking Pavlov’s dog with Skinner’s birds. But if your playing a game to get loot instead of enjoyment then your better off not playing the game at all.
Good catch. Skinner’s positive reinforcement study would make sense. However, I would like to add that the “reward” here in game is subjective. Skinner’s study was based off of food (a necessity) as a reward, whereby the rats ate it until full. In the game, there already are loot drops as rewards that the OP isn’t happy with, but others are. The individual would determine if it was worth playing this game for said rewards and/or for fun. Newer or better loot drops wouldn’t guarantee a positive change in the player’s behavior.
Once the perma sickle and axe hit the store, as well as any new Gem Store armors, Gems to Gold conversions will become quite delicious. If they put a Character Slot sale at the same time, it would make people rage with both excitement and sadness.
Similar to Pavlov’s dog, I need a reason to keep coming back… I just can’t find it in the current loot/reward system.
No. Pavlov learned that he could condition his dogs to have a certain response to an action (i.e. bell ring = drool). This was a reflex action. Having fun in a video game isn’t “conditioned” into us. It’s either you like it and have fun, or you don’t. Needing a reason to keep playing (i.e. better loot) is known as the feeling of “entitlement”, a completely different human psychological aspect.
No. Lodestones are too easy to get. They need to make them much more rare, so Legendary weapons are harder to craft.
@ Penguin – Good thing I didn’t make the same account name, or there’d be much confusion in the forums when we both posted.
@ OP – I would like the Thief class to get an ability like this, since their attacks have no cool downs. It would be nice to be able to swap out dagger and pistol offhands for lots of stealth and blinds.
If you already know about the one key = one action rule, then the real question you should ask yourself is: “Is using this macro worth getting perma-banned over?”

You’re intentionally trying to get around blocks on a controversial name. Be lucky the suspension wasn’t longer.
No one complains about [WäR]. Why we get no love too, Soundchaos?
Let me step in and add this. Dungeon tokens are rewards for that particular dungeon. The game allows you to exchange them for a related item. This is great, because you can then get whatever you want. On the flip side, you can’t get a item from a different dungeon. It forces you to make a choice on which reward you want.
Sure this is a currency specific to that dungeon. But would you rather the item randomly drop at the end, instead of the ability to get an item you want? People already complain that they can’t get the specific Fractal Weapon as a drop due to RNG. Imagine the backlash if you only had a chance to get items from a dungeon, and all at random. So you have three sets of armor (Light, Medium, and Heavy), with six pieces each. I’m no math wiz, but say there’s a 1 in 50 shot at an armor piece drop each time you finish a dungeon. Then you’d only have a 1 in 18 chance to get an armor piece you want. The odds are, like, a bazzillion to one that you’d get a full set. No thank you sir.
^ this. Plus it cant be ‘gambling’…as you ALWAYS WIN. You never open a chest with nothing in it. Sure it may not be what you want, but you are getting something for your money.
Yes you always win something, but that alone doesn’t make it legal. It’s the randomness that allows a sweepstakes or lottery to be legal. But in the case of RNG and gambling, we own nothing in this game. All digital items are property of NCSoft, and we’re merely paying for the right to play with them. Heck, if I paid $100 for Gems, they can give it to me, but I have no legal rights to them. It’s a virtual currency that has no value, and NCSoft has the right to delete them from my account without refund, as per the User Agreement.
/sigh
These armchair lawyers really need to stop posting this kinda stuff, esp. when they have no experience in law.
For Federal Lottery Laws, a lottery is a promotion that has three elements:
1) Prizes
2) Winners Chosen by Chance
3) Consideration
To avoid being classified as an illegal lottery, sweepstakes must ensure that at least one of these elements is missing. Because prizes and luck are central to sweepstakes where the winners are drawn at random, legitimate promotions can never have “consideration”.
Definition of “consideration”: In sweepstakes terms, consideration is simply payment for a prize. Generally, sweepstakes that award prizes by chance are not allowed to have an element of consideration. Consideration doesn’t have to be money; it can be anything that can profit the sponsor. For example, a company cannot require that entrants purchase a product to participate in sweepstakes (or, if they do, they must provide an alternate method of entry). You’ll hear the following a lot in the US: “No purchase necessary”
So purchasing Black Lion Chest Keys from the Gem Store requires the use of “Gems”. Gems can be either purchased via real money, or traded for with in game currency (i.e. Copper, Silver, and/or Gold).
Also, a few more things. Gems and all items either purchase or won from chests have no value, and are still property of NCSoft. You’re basically paying for the use of Gems and all items. Please refer to the User Agreement, section 4. “ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT”

Ultimately, legendary is expensive is because Anet want players to farm. It have nothing to do supply/demand, or player setting the price right?
Wow. Just… wow. Part of me thinks that you just don’t understand how markets work. I’ll leave it at that.
Actually, those factors are not controlled and regulated by ANet. They are factors of player behavior.
I understand what you are trying to say. But you can’t change human behavior.
You can’t creat a weapon that do more damage or a skin that looks really good, and don’t anticipate people want it.
That look more like the “fix factor” of the equation. So why are we spend so much time talking about something you can’t change. Instead we should be talking about the things we can change which is drop rate, gold sink, material sink etc.
This is sounding more like “entitlement”. You want to have an easier time to get something that is rare. But realize that if Anet gives a rare item a drop rate increase, it no longer becomes rare.
I would love to WvW with a skirt on my giant male Norn Guardian with his Princess Wand.. But alas, we can’t have it all.
The Crab Toss is hard but fun. I’ve never managed to beat this when we run it for Guild Missions. I’m hoping the difficulty level is lower for the mini game. Here’s some tips:
1. The ring to run around in is fairly large. We tried to keep our people closer together to DPS the Karka, but that didn’t work out. See point #2.
2. If you’re holding the crab, and the Veteran Karka shows up, run far far away. When he does his barrel roll, he wipes out everyone in his path. It’s game over when you’re balled up.
3. Be aware of where the crab holder is. If he tosses the crab, and it lands on you, don’t just stand there.
I tried to 1 vs 1 our Grub in EB. Lord Flameram didn’t approve…
