The only one out of the entire Slayer list that deserves a title, is Giant killing.

I’ve already resigned myself to never getting that maxed out, as my total count stands at 4.

“don’t buy them if you think their too high”

I think you answered your own question. Optional content is optional.

Reading comprehension goes a long way. Please use it.

@OP, yeah, I think some of the items could use an adjustment to match current economy.

Sorry. I didn’t know that “optional” had different meanings to different people. I’ll keep that in mind next time I see a complaint thread about prices.

legendary sold to vendor, support can't help

The bigger issue here is the great frustration to honest players for no apparent gain. Players spend considerable time and dedication to earn some of these items and skins, you could argue they’re the ONLY reason some people even play the game. Refusing to restore them when they’re lost due to some mechanic can literally end the desire to play their product. Conversely, restoring them likely increases commitment. Makes no business sense.

It makes perfect business sense to me. If this were a small game, then I could understand why the company should help. But in a game with millions of accounts, why should the company be required to help every single player that made a mistake or a bad choice? Seems you don’t realize the financial impact of employee man-hours needed to constantly assist someone who sold or salvaged the wrong gear, or purchased the wrong item. Not only that, but they also need to help players restore their compromised accounts. Even then, there’s a limit of one time, since each of us is responsible for our own computer security.

There are mechanics in place that require a confirmation before doing something, like buying an item with tokens. There are also tools that prevent items from showing up in the vendor sale list (i.e. Invisible Bag).

So let this be a lesson to everyone. Take precautions, and save yourself from the headaches of missing gear.

This is definitely not a bad game mechanic or a bug. You are suffering from lag issues. So instead of asking what are you are doing in game, or what character class you play, I will ask the following:

-What country do you play from?
-What ISP do you use?
-What is your computer specs?
-What is your game settings?

Question about Unidentified Gray Dye (Rare)

in Crafting

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

Just wondering. Do you feel the required ingredients are too much because of the cost to buy them off the TP? Or do you feel they are too much because you have a harder time collecting enough ingredients?

Note – If it’s too much because of your output, consider the fact that “rare” dyes are rare. And the rarity of “rare” dyes differ, seeing as how Abyss drops much less than Black.

Quaggan as playable race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Smooth Penguin.5294

Quaggan don’t really fight though. They hate what it does to them

Canthan quaggans are able to suppress their inner rage, allowing them to remain calm, all while killing a World Invader.

With that said, Anet could create a whole new mechanic for them. A “rage meter”, where the more they kill, the meter fills up. And then when the meter is full, they’re stuck in “Zerker mode” for a short time, with increased Power, Precision, and Crit %.

Quaggan a are considered one of the lesser races, just like Skritt, Ogres, and Kodan. They’ll never be a playable race, sorry I disappoint.

The Tengu, however, aren’t considered a lesser race. This has been discussed and widely accepted as the next playable race (if any)

Of all races you listed, the Kodan would seem more of a playable race than the Norn.

Quaggan as playable race

Smooth Penguin.5294

With all this talk about the future of Guild Wars 2, I welcome the new bi-monthly content updates. And because Colin said they haven’t ruled out any expansion, perhaps it’s time to talk about something near and dear to our hearts.

Quaggans. More specifically, playing as a quaggan race. Running around LA with my quaggan tonic just doesn’t cut it. I want to be hacking monsters and WvW players using my D/D quaggan thief.

Quaggans aren’t just your cute GW2 mascot. They have shown their capabilities as a playable race, as through NPCs who fight along side you, and as a target in the Guild Bounty list of enemies. You could compare them to the mechanics of an asura. Both would be short characters, yet are capable in fights. Animation styles would be similar too, with both asuran’s and quaggan’s movement sort of “waddle running”. As for their background, quaggans already have a culture and lore we learned about through gameplay, and could easily be expanded to create a Personal Story mode for them. And finally, it would be a great way to recognize the work of Kekai Kotaki, the artist who designed quaggans in the first place.

Again, this isn’t about the story. It’s about the dungeon, and how some people aren’t able to complete it. And my opinion on this matter is that if you can’t complete it, I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is.

Either that’s a straw man, or you’ve completely misread what I wrote. Or maybe both. Like I mentioned above, please go back and try again.

I am not arguing that the dungeon should be easier. I like its level of difficulty, and I especially like the encounter with Frizz.

What I don’t like is the way that the dungeon is linked to to the living story. In order to complete the story, you have to complete the dungeon and that locks a lot of players out of the story.

I can’t score 250K kills in WvW, but I’m not asking Anet to buff my damage output to kill faster. I can’t play 10 hours a day, but I’m not asking Anet to increase gold drops so I can make more money in a shorter time.

That’s not what I’m asking either. What I’m saying is that the story shouldn’t be linked to the dungeon.

To use your own analogy, the current story asks players to perform a very difficult task that not many players can’t complete, like killing 250,000 foes in WvW, in order reach the end. That’s a new thing for this game, and its something that seems to violate the designers’ publicly-stated design philosophy.

I’m arguing that this is a mistake, and asking that they don’t make it again in the future.

I’m not addressing your concerns with those posts. I’m addressing the OP’s. He is sad that he can’t complete the story because he can’t do the dungeon. I’m saying the story doesn’t matter, so there’s no reason why Anet needs to make an “easy mode”. IF there were a requirement that a certain dungeon be completed, then Anet wouldn’t make it so challenging.

Now to address what you’re concerned about. It’s gonna be a similar answer, but hear me out. The story is optional. If you choose to continue with the story, you must do the dungeon. If you can’t complete it, the world isn’t over. Go on and do other things. But if it kills you so much that you “must” complete AR, then it’s just a matter of learning the game mechanics, and applying them to the challenges you face.

Also, the reason why there’s no “Story Mode” for AR is that it doesn’t tie into your Personal Story (and even that’s optional to do). All main dungeons in this game are tied to the story of Destiny’s Edge. AR is different, so it’s a stand alone.

it seems you re a necro , sry to tell you but those are excuses , i play only a necro . In todays run i actually had to die cozz my pug ( guard, tief , warr, hunter ) died consinstantly on the barage , the problem is ppl run like headles chickes around & die or mismanage dodge. I stand still w8 for the circle to apear & walk out eazy as that ( most of the times there are safe spots ) if there is a problem i dodge out …. the fight is actualy dead boring . the only thing that you actualy need dodging is the teleport ( wich is telegraphed) so ….. im confused on where is the dificullty ??

As someone said observe & adapt, it sadens me to see we are so far in the game yet ppl still mismanage dodge or dont understand its power & as for now there arent fights ( team based not solo ) wich criple necro due to lack of vigor also DS is your friend.

I think you’re responding to the wrong person. I stated that I’m a full Zerker Thief, with low Toughness and Vitality, and beat AR on my first and only try in 45 minutes to an hour. Only downed once by Mai.

Unless you stand still (or have virtually no vitality) you won’t die from the fire. You should be fully able to dodge/move away from it even if taking a hit or two.

Thats the big problem with that fight though, yeah one, two hits, not a problem. I can even survive many more than that. But first of all being on a class with no vigor means I have pretty much no reliable dodge, second it’s not the actual damage of the shots, it’s the godawfully long amount of time this ridiculous spamfest goes on. There’s absolutely no need for it to go on that long. I know exactly the part the OP is talking about because that’s the same part that has prevented me from completing this dungeon. Yes I could prob get on my guardian like everyone else and roll through it, but I’m sick of always having to fall back to the guard just to do content. The rest of this dungeon is amazing and I love it, but I’m not ever going to see the end of it and I hope they learned something from this. The molten dungeon was done brilliantly I just wish they applied that same thought and planning to the last boss in this one. 1 shot shennannigans do not equate to a fun, challenging time.

Everyone stack on a designated “lead runner” and run clockwise. Don’t cut the edges though. Keep swiftness up and you won’t have any problems at all. I have yet
to die to the barrages with this method.
You can’t just use the same tactic over and over again, expecting it
to magically work one time.

Observe
Adapt
Overcome

I cannot stress this enough…

Just to point out, my pug team was all over the place, and we never died. It was much harder, since the red circles filled the floor. But even with this, we beat the end boss in under 15 minutes.

The points you stress are good. Mine is: Knowing game mechanics keeps you alive.

Story didn’t stop being important when the personal story ended. I suspect you actually know this, even though you’re pretending that you don’t.

Indeed, but that does NOT stop the fact that their talks about “your story” was specifically about the personal storyline.

The living story is quite clearly NOT about you, but rather about other people (such as Rox, Braham, Kiel, Marjory and so on.)

I’m having trouble taking this seriously. Of course the stories have other characters, otherwise they’d be awfully boring. And of course some of the characters are important to the story. But this is a role-playing game and player characters are still central to the story.

And sure, “This is MY story” may have been a line from the personal story, but it was also used to emphasize the importance of story in GW2. Those priorities probably didn’t change just because someone completed Arah.

Like I said to Smooth Penguin above, I think you know this but you’re pretending not to in the hopes that playing dumb will actually look like a convincing argument.

All in the eye of the beholder. The Personal Story is optional. Anet advertised the story line as deep and epic, but doesn’t force you do finish it if you choose not to.

Again, this isn’t about the story. It’s about the dungeon, and how some people aren’t able to complete it. And my opinion on this matter is that if you can’t complete it, I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is.

Realize that the Personal Story was completely optional too. Of all my characters on my account, only one has finished the entire story arc. That’s my choice on how I want to play the game. I know that doesn’t mean the story isn’t important to other players. But if Anet made it a requirement to complete, then I could understand the calls for an “easy mode” to be made for the AR dungeon. Or should I say, an “easier mode”?

Whether or not one finishes the story, that’s not the real issue here. Story is nice to have, but it’s optional content. The real issue is the fact that some people are unable to learn the game’s mechanics, or use them effectively. This doesn’t necessarily mean a player isn’t smart or is unskilled. There could be physical handicaps that prevent someone from having the manual dexterity to play the game. Or color blindness that makes the red circles harder to see.

But with that said, in order for it to be a challenge, it’s a given that some people may not be able to complete it. It shouldn’t mean Anet has to make it “easy mode”, or make different modes to satisfy a small portion of the playerbase. Challenging content is challenging.

On a side note, I would personally love to have seen a Clock Tower type puzzle added to the AR dungeon. That would make this dungeon the best there ever was.

“It’s optional” may be the worst description of a game I can imagine.

“So, how’s the new event?”
“It’s very optional.”
“Oh…wanna play Neverwinter?”

I much prefer games that are compelling and interesting. I’m pretty sure that I’m not alone. It’s great that ArenaNet has given players a highly challenging new dungeon. It’s an enjoyable and rewarding experience for many of the game’s players. But the way they tied it to the event’s main story left a lot of players out of the fun.

For you, story may not be an issue. But it is clearly an issue for many of the people who play the game. ArenaNet even made it a key selling point of the game (remember “this is MY story”?). That’s what makes this such an interesting hobby. It has a lot of facets that can appeal to a lot of different people. It sounds like you’re saying that your values and interests are the only ones that are important.

Yes I remember “this is MY story”. The purpose of that was to kill the Elder Dragon. You are confusing the racial character’s Story Mode with the extra content/side stories Anet is providing.

Moral of my story? 1) Mechanics: Learn them, understand them, and use them. 2) Learn from your mistakes: If you fail, remember how to failed, and try not to do it again.

That’s the real problem! You are asking too much of many people here.

No, that would actually be quite a reasonable suggestion…IF it wasn’t available for only a short time. Like all the other dungeons, I would try them at my own pace until I passed them. The problem here is thakittens part of the story, and I have only a limited time to dedicate to it, and all the other parts of the story.

Again, difficult is fine…but difficult, with a time limit is frustrating. Why is it not reasonable to ask for a “Story Mode” for those who are interested in playing, seeing the story, but not spending hours and hours learning and perfecting the dungeon?

Again, I did this dungeon only once. Took 45 minutes to an hour with a pug group. The mechanics of the dungeon in place are the same as every other content of Guild Wars 2. Dodge rolling to evade. Don’t touch lasers or walls that hurt. Kite red circles. Avoid strong enemy attacks that can “1 hit” you.

So it’s not so much understanding the dungeon itself, but rather getting comfortable with the game. Same thing with Guild Bounties – people who are used to hacking and slashing will have a hard time. Zerging doesn’t work either. Laser wall room takes one type of strategy, while end boss takes another.

Guild Wars 2 combat is built on adaptive game play. If you want to rush forward and tank hundreds of enemies at a time, there are other games I could recommend.

I’ve read all the posts, and can understand how some people would want an easy mode to this dungeon. I can also understand how some people may think one build (i.e. Zerker) isn’t recommended to use for AR. But let me give you my opinion on why I think this dungeon is actually easy.

I run a full Zerker Thief, so basically I’m low on Toughness and Vitality. With a pug group, I managed to get through this dungeon in less than an hour (maybe around 45 minutes?), killed the end boss within the 15 minute timer to shoot the airship, and was downed only once. I missed a lot of the achievements due to mechanics (Golem pulling me into the wall, getting hit by a cannon barrage, etc.), but I’m not losing any sleep over it. That was my first and only time running AR.

I don’t know if it’s because of my skill, my group’s skill, luck, or a combination of the three. I just had no real issues with AR. Others have given tips, which I will use when I try again this week. But even with all the tips from the forums or other fan sites, it comes down to the individual. You must understand the basics of dodge rolling and kiting. With this knowledge, you must then understand when to use them. I got hit by the laser wall, but I didn’t stand in it. I spam clicked to dodge, which left me hurt, but alive. I got hit by a cannon barrage, but again I kept double tapping to dodge, and survived, albeit hurt. The only time I was downed was when I was meleeing Mai, and she knocked me on my rear.

Moral of my story? 1) Mechanics: Learn them, understand them, and use them. 2) Learn from your mistakes: If you fail, remember how to failed, and try not to do it again.

You can run the EB JP as much as you want. But the rewards are limited now. If I remember correctly, it was nerfed because of the massive amounts of free Siege you could get daily with alts. It’s similar to the World Boss nerf, where it’s now limited in a similar way to reduce the amount of alt farming being done at the time.

Man do I feel silly. All this time, I thought the OP was just trying to scam Anet. But now that I think of it, it’s just a case of him not understanding how retail businesses work. Allow me to simplify an example, so that he may understand.

Suppose I purchased a bar of soap from Walmart, but I didn’t like it so I try to return it. Walmart says they don’t refund used soap, so I try to go to K-mart instead. K-mart doesn’t accept the return, mainly because it wasn’t purchased from their store in the first place.

Same situation here. OP purchased two retail box copies of Guild Wars 2 from GameStop. Because both boxes were opened, and the registration codes used, they cannot and will not give him a refund. Saddened by his loss, he decides to ask Anet to refund. However, the games weren’t purchased at the Anet store, so the refund is denied.

Different examples, but same conclusion. No returns are accepted, and the OP gets to enjoy owning two copies of Guild Wars 2.

This thread will be closed tomorrow, so hopefully my simplified examples will put him at ease.

*note – Apologies to the other posters who gave similar examples. I know they had given examples to help the OP, but I think they were too complicated for the OP to understand.

Why is it hard for you to understand this? If you purchased the game from a retailer, you must contact the retailer to ask what their refund policy is. I guarantee you that Anet will not offer any type of refunds for purchases made outside of their online store.

And just for your information, if you did purchase the game from Anet’s online store, there would be a way for you to ask for a refund.

Everyone uses Arrow Carts. It’s one of the primary weapons in WvW.

In the future, if you press “M” in game, you can search the map, and look for the unfilled square. Takes about a couple of minutes instead of hours.

Hi guys … i wasnt play for long time. When i start i choose server and now i wanna switch to another one where playing my friends, where are more ppl but i cant. Is rly true when i delete all my chars i will can? …

Thanks for answer Devs…

The Devs already answered this questions many times. And since it seems you’ve already searched for this, I don’t understand why you feel you need to ask again.

Gem payment for transfers is the fee to move character data between servers. By deleting all your characters, you can make a transfer for free (once every 7 days).

Yet another “entitlement” thread. It’s sad that people keep on mistaking their wants for needs. Because one person can’t afford to purchase Gems, or have enough Gold to convert, they must complain the same applies to everyone else.

If the only progression in this game is through aesthetics (read: gear), but those aesthetics are not only able to be bought through the gem store but solely through the gem store, then that is literally buying progression, paying to win.

If by “win” you mean looking better than the next random person in LA, then yes, I concede. You can have this win if it makes you feel better.

A simple solution to your problem is to buy Gems with real money. That takes away all the grind you’re complaining about.

Trading Post "Fees"

in Black Lion Trading Co

Smooth Penguin.5294

Actually the taxes attempt to keep the active player money supply in check and that in turn helps keep inflation at bay. But I nitpick.

Sounds like the OP forgot about the fees when pricing the object for sale and ended up with less than he was expecting and is transferring his anger from himself to the TP.

I did not forget the fees.

Here is the problem for me. I know that in this game there are people who are just completely unable to make money. Through ineptitude, play time restrictions, whatever. But I also know that there are people sitting out there with 2000g in their bank just chilling. I have nothing against either of these class of players. What I do have a problem with is that the people with the tons of money literally have nothing to fear for buying everything they could ever want off the TP.

With the game the way it is it is very easy/cost effective to create a quasimonopoly on certain items. If there is no fee for buying, someone with loads of money can just go in and say hey I want everything of said item and be done with it. If there was a 5% sales tax they had to pay that would be a fairly large money sink on said ventures. The average player wouldn’t really notice the difference but it would be a small burden off the sellers shoulders.

I am not saying this is perfect and I know that in reality it will make little difference but it just seems unfair to me to heavily tax the sellers and never charge anything of the people that buy loads of stuff off the TP.

In the same breath, you complain that there are players who are unable to make money, then go on to say that you want to punished those players with a tax on things they buy?

Wow…

It’s a shame that you fell for a phishing e-mail. I feel really bad for you mate. While most of us who frequent the forums knew about this for a long time, those who don’t come will miss out on important information. The phishing scams have been hitting GW2, as well as other MMOs. The scammers basically copy and paste the body of the e-mail, and just mass send it out to e-mail lists. Just remember that no legit company will ever ask you to log in and verify information through an e-mail link.

As long as you still have all your account credentials, I’m sure you’ll be able to get your account back and a roll back.

If you still have stuff in your Guild Bank, just transfer back to CD and withdraw them all. Then, after 7 days, transfer again to DB and bring all the goodies with you.

Would Guesting work too. Or does he physically have to transfer

As far as I know, guesting won’t allow you to access the Guild Bank account. But, since I’m at work (and hiding from the boss as I type), someone else is going to have to confirm this in game.

It’s best to visit every map, and check them individually if you have all POIs. Once you find the map that’s not complete, start your hunt there. This is how I learned about the Dead End bar POI before visiting the forums.
