Yeah, 10% higher Backstab damage.

I’m sure that would go down well with the community.

Point being, yes, this rune-set would be awesome for Thieves if Condition Damage was replaced with Power.

But it would also be best-in-slot, at least in terms of DPS. And I’m not sure if giving Thieves even more front-loaded damage is currently the best way forward for the class.

So while you are right, the rune-set does not make much sense for a Thief, fixing it would make it overpowered.

Don’t think it would make it OP, Stronger yes, maybe changing 5% from the sides 10% from behind would make it not as Best in slot.

You give us precison, nice!
You give us Condition damage! Nice, cond dmg and precision are okay for some Cond dmg builds.

And then you go ahead and give us 10% dmg from behind on a cond based rune set? Which imo is not even decent compared to other cond rune set.

My suggestion would be change cond dmg for normal power, this way Power based thieves will be able to use this runes!

Recently i came back to play Gw2 and looking through my folders i found a project i started when Gw2 was in PBE about Fist weapons and the diferent skillsets they’d have on some classes. Perhaps now, 1 year into the game and with the announce that there will be new weapons in 2014 Arenanet can draw some user inspirtaed ideas!

I remember this having a good reception when it was created 1 year ago!

So here goes nothing:

Engineer

“Zap’em” 1.Eletrocute you foe with a chance to causing vulnerabilty.
“Overloading flurry” 2.Flurry with electrocuted attacks dealing more damage for every hit, stops if it misses one attack. (locks you in place)
“Electro-whip” 3.Throw a whip at your foe taking him to your position and eloctrocuting him causing vulneravilty.
“Knocking shock” 4.Overcharge your gloves knocking your foes back after a liltle but powerfull shock.
“Dazing charge” 5.Electructe your foes brain dazing him.

Thief

“Precise strike” 1.Hit your foe with a precise fast attack with the top of your fingers.
“Twin strikes” -1 Hit your foe twice with precise and fast attacks with the top of your fingers causing weakness.
“Chi blocking strike” -1 Hit your foe with a precise fast hit with the top of your fingers causing vulnerability.
“Preassure strikes” 2.Side roll and deal a flurry of precise fast hits.
“Vanishing kick” 3.High kick your foe vanishing in stealth with a shadow cloud blinding your foe.
“Shadow kick” 4.Shadowstep to your foe making a low kick crippling him.
“Pushing Chi” 5.Strike your foes with both palms pushing your target away

Stealth Skill: “Hidden ki strike” Strike your foe with charged ki dazing them for 2 secs. If struck from behind target is crippled and dazed for 3 secs

Elementalist

Fire
“Fire punch” 1.Punch the air emitting a blast of fire towards your target
“Blasting punch” -1 Punch again to emitt a second blast
“Blazing kick” -1 Round kick the air sending a third blast of fire to burn your foe.
“Fire geyser” 2.Summon a Geyser of fire at targets location.
“Burning blast” 3.With both hands project a big blast of fire towards you enemy dealing damage and leaving behind a line of fire.
“Fire coat” 4.Surround yourself with fire burning close enemies
“Burning cyclone” 5.Spin to send blasts of fire in all directions.

Water
“Water pistol” 1.Send a fast blast of water applying vulnerability
“Chilling winds” 2.Summon a cold blizard above your foe blasting it down, chilling and bleeding it.
“Coating ice” 3.Hit the ground blasting an ice coat immobilizing nearby foes.
“Cleansing waterfall” 4.Blast a waterfall healing allies and removing conditions.
“Will blocker” 5.Envelop your targets head with water dazing him.

Air
“Air blast” 1.Blast a projectile of air to your foe
“Blasting air” -1 Blast a projectile of air to your foe
“Hurricane blast” -1 With both hand send air to your foe weakening him
“Slicing wind” 2.Cut through the air sending air blades to cripple your foe.
“Direct Lightning” 3.Charge a Lightning to direct it to your foe applying weakness.
“Blasting retreat” 4.Move backwards knocking back all the foes infront of your original location.
“Favorable winds” 5.You and nearby allies gain Swiftness for 15 seconds and quickness for 1 second.

Earth
“Stone punch” 1.Summon a boulder and punch it to your foe.
“Stone kick” 2.Summon a boulder and kick it to your foe to make him vulnerable.
“Incoming wall” 3.Create a wall of earth infront of you to block front attacks and send it towards your foes to damage them
“Spiky ground” 4.Step on the floor to create a spiky ground to cripple foes.
“Earth trapwire” 5.Bend earth to trap your foes feet knocking them to the ground.

I Actually did all the profesions but i thought this ones were the most fitting ones and i definetly would love to see them IG!

Critical Haste could use a buff.

With all the nerfs in haste you rewarded that skills with extra duration and decreased penalties, Critical haste on the other hand lost power and still go tthe same duration.

Just give critical haste 1-2 more secs than it is now and it’ll be okay, i love running it but it feels so underwhelming right now

I came up with a S/P Build today, and kitten it’s good, a lot of preassure and the damage it’s okay. I’m totally running this for a long time and the good thing is that i just expect buffs.

Also i use it for roaming in WvW and normal spvp and tpvp, it has a kinda medium high skillcap which i love!

When they changed the revealed buff to 4s i came up with a dodge based build arround the SB 0/30/0/25/15 evade spam and i gotta say it’s the most fun i ever had in the 1500 hours i have on my thief.

i use D/P rather than S/D but not on the stealth way, i just like the gap closer, my strategy is to waste the enemy to 30% with the shortbow then swap to D/P do a shadow shot and a heartseeker, works 100% of the time.

I just don't get it.

Thieves are bad in sPvP, where certain constraints are put on gameplay (less burst, stealth stops point capping), but are ridiculous in WvW, especially at roaming.

It’s like if you reduce 100blades damage, and warriors ask “but we suck in sPvP, so why nerf us more?” The nerf isn’t targeted at sPvP – everyone agrees that GS warriors are amazing for PvE, so the damage can be reduced to what other classes are capable of.

Besides, the last patch didn’t even nerf Thieves; in fact there were a lot of buffs.

I consider mug dmg reduction a nerf that compeltly destroys the BS combo build, not that i use it but iwas one of the only viable builds we had in tournies. And the healing we get now it’s just a lame excuse to nerf the kitten out of mug.

I just don't get it.

i beg to differ, while a skilled thief would have a better chance vs another skilled players our current meta still puts us in a lower winning chance by game definition, a good shatter mesmer or a good ranger, heck even a good ele will just kitten the heck out of the skilled thief.

Thieves are in a pathetic meta status and yet all i see is people still crying for nerfs.

Heck i would even dare to say thieves are the lowest pvp tier in tpvp.

and i don’t really see arenanet willing to fix any of these, even if LS was a nice addition, that’s it…. bring Dancing dagger back, up the PW damage, bring radical changes to P/P….anything

And yet things like trap ranger and 1shot shatter every 8 seconds are completly fine.

What’s with all the mindless nerf-asking threads?!

Three main hand
Two offhand

Right now we ar the class with less weapon sets in the whole game and considering how initiative works i’d say we have even a fewer number of working build compared to let’s say warrior or guardian.

I pretty much trief every build, even trap ambusher (Shadow trap+ambush) and while they work somehow they are not even effective in most of the game situations. I just try to squish my brain to come up with some new fresh thief gameplay but it just doesn’t seem to work any longer as our weapon sets are very straight forward.

My suggestions for new weapons:

-OH Sword
-Rifle (Attached some fanfiction skills for rifle)

Hello!

I’ve run into this huge issue where i’m not able to progress in fotm without breaking my build and playstyle, i play a bunker ele with cleric gear and the lack of ascended cleric stats is making me get stuck on lvls 12 being unable to find a group.

I know this is a common issue and i’m by far not the only one suffering of it.

Arenanet has already stated that new combinations are coming but i’m asking when, since all my plans to go up in fotm and get the fractal wapons are being sabotage by the lack of diversity on items which ironically is the motto of this game: “We want you to play the game how you want”

I honestly don’t know how hard can it be to just add some more ascended pieces of already existing stats, just give us a normal item with ascended status, you can’t think of names later and give it a nice icon.

Yeah i hope ele get some love because right now we are stuck to 2 viable weapon sets 1 mediocre and 2 worthless.

Some melee weapon would be nice for ele, i’m hoping for sword.

tho i would love to see some new handed weapon like, power bracelets or something.

Imo a new weapon set for every class should be released every 6 months or so.

It’s easy to get tired of the current ones your class can have, the point is too master them, but once mastered most of the time i just find myself doing the same all over and over. and i wonder how long will it take for arenanet to give us some new gameplay.

It’s not asking for a new class or race, just some new weapon combinations or new weapon itself.

Right now the dreamer like a lot of other legendaries is missing some corporal particle effects.

Imo adding butterfly footprints similar to the mesmer ones would be really great effect.

Not viable. Having 900 range with our shortbow makes it no optimal. I tried to base a build only in shortbow and mobility and well it worked quite well but its not optimal.

Shortbow actually has 1200 range. It just doesn’t automatically re-use trick shot once you’re outside of 900 range

I’d like to see a prove on that.

Here comes some of the issues i noticed while focusing on Shortbow for a while. This is based in WvW gameplay.

First of all and most noticeable:

The range, 900 range in autoattack makes keep sieges and defends extremly dull. While cluster bomb is really really nice it´s not really spamable at long range which most of the times leaves the thief to the risk of getting at 900 and risking dead or being a dead weight and spam cluster bomb now and then. Same goes for Big Battles.

Besides the fact of every other class having a 1200 or even 1500 range weapon which leaves the thieves even in worse situation.

Second:

Lack of trait depth. Shortbow only has one direct trait which is really mediocre and misplaced. 5% more damage is utterly bad and not worth it at all. Besides the fact that is placed under the shadow arts tree which makes no sense at all. Acrobatics or even trickery would fit way better.

A solution, Change power shots for a +300 range trait on shortbow (IA not affected since it would be kittenedly OP), change it to acrobatics trait line and change places with:

-Adept tier:

Fleet shadow for the new trait.

Fleet shadow makes more sense in the shadow arts line since it is a steal related trait.

or

-Master tier:

Pain response for the new trait.

That is pretty much it, making this would solve 2 issues at once, the lack of range and the lack of shortbow based builds.

I would love a new Shotbow but i dunno how long can it take and if it will even use the gifts of fortune and majesty which i already have…

For the moment i might go for the nyan bow, i mean, its easily noticeable and it´s not that bad. Plus i would get pretty kitten if i get pwnd by a rainbow shooting mf

I´ve been loving shortbow for the last weeks since it give so much good gameplay and i belive mastering it can be a tide changer in any battle.

Also where Shortbow really shine is at Melee range withThrilled Steal and cluster bomb spam. i bask in joyh when i see my screen full of 5-8k cris every 2 secs.

I would love if anet dedicated a small team on creating another round of legendaries.

Since there is 2 greatswords i think anet could take some time and make 2 of each, just to fit more styles. For example the bifrost will never fit a necro so make a new staff with a more darky theme.

Something like make opposites with what we have or atleast with the troll weapons moot, quip and dreamer.

I was just wondering how long can it take for annet to release another round of legendaries, knowing some or most of the weapons were not at legendary level it feels like anet could really put some hands into it.

Later we have the problem of the troll weapons, me as a thief and shortbow lover, i completly dislike the Dreamer theme for example, or the quip. and i’m pretty sure ppl have the same feeling with the Moot.

I wonder if the new legendaries will use the both base gifts (majesty and fortune) since i have both of them but none of the legendaries out there feels worth it.

While Backstab build it’s still really powerfull i don’t feel its OP in Spvp. Its a 45s cd combo and afteer taht yoou are rendered to a squishy glass cannon who will get eaten by any aoe.

The real problem is people running arround without stun breakers. And cmon let¡s be honest you see a thief comming to you with Basilisk venom and Assasin signet and you don’t have the finger ready on stun break? You are just bad then.

When playing S/D i’ve never ever ever been killed by a backstab combo. Shadowstep makes the job really easy.

Hello there folks!

Open World pvp is for most the most attractive thing in an MMO, for the sake of ganking, increasing your kitten or whatsoever.

And we all can agree gw2 is missing that part, we have WvW but that is far from being what real open world pvp is. Considering the mechanics and the lore it would be almost imposible to add Real world pvp, besides of alot of people pveheroing arround.

So i propouse to bring back Factions and somehow alliance battles, which imo was the funniest part of Gw1. Not bring AB and factions back as they were but more the concept.

So here goes nothing.

Factions:

-Two factions would be added to the game (for this post we will call them Luxon and Kurzick).
-Guilds would be able to choose un faction to ally with
-Any player representing the guild is counted as a faction member.
-Changing Guilds would change what faction you represent.

Maps and mechanincs:

-One really big level 80 pve map would be open, it would work as a normal pve map.
-Each faction would have a waypoint in each point of the map
-Different factions would be hostile to each other.
-Half of the map would be kurzick zone and the other half luxon.
-Defeating monster in this Area would yield faction points. The highest the mob ranking is the more points it yield. Completing Dynamic events would yeild faction points too.
-Defeating players would give points too.
-Defeating Monsters in enemy territory would give double points.
-Points are indiviual but you could give them in for faction bonus (pretty much like in Gw1).
-Each Faction have a legendary boss (something big, not a freaking Soldier with legendary rank.), defeating the enemys boss would yield a great amount of points plus some nice drops.
-Enemy factions npcs will be hostile. They reward Faction points and they are located arround the enemy zone.
-Not representing any guild will make all npc friendly, including Legendary Bosses.
-Players not representing any guild or players in a guild that is not ally with any faction wouldn’t be affected by any of the points above thus being just normal pve.
-When a player enter the map representing a guild, this cannot stand down or change representation while in the map.

Rewards:

-Faction related armors and weapon in a range of three tiers aviable in exchange for faction points.
-Consumables
-Perhaps something like ol’ zaishen keys.

I think it would be a nice way to get some nice Open world pvp while not breaking the lore nor the mechanics and giving a new interesting aspect to the game. Perhaps giving more incentive to the pve world and the sake of getting gear.

Stealth stomps/resses is just a game mechanic and this a l2p issue, while ressing the thief is still there, hit the point.

If this is removed so should be Endure pain stomps, Mist stomps, Invul signet stomps.

Also i don’t seek long range battles, i love my thief but we need a 1200 range for reasons that have already been explained.

Also why are you so against the rifles it’s not that they would give something bad to the class.

we have cluster bomb for sbow, i thought we could use a 1200 range attack for pistols too. 1200 base range on thiefs seems like itll cause qq, unless they nerf ranged damage somehow.

I have arround 580 hours with my thief and over 3000 WvW kills, and spamming cluster bomb in a keep defense is the most boring mechanich posible. Pve is fine with 900 since Pve is rather easy besides some dungeons.

title says it all, replace #2 body shot (pistol) with a 1200 range attack that does aoe damage. this will partially resolve the whole “give us a rifle” issue

shortbow has 1200 range #2 cluster bomb, could put something similar for bodyshot

makes sense to me so i thought id make a post,

im sure someone has probably had this idea before.

How would giving a mid raneg set a 1200 range skill solve the issue of not having a full 1200 weapon set?

Also there’s not such an issue as “give us a rifle” it’s more like, give us a max ranged new set. Thieves need a new ranged meta and another weapon set (since we are the class with less weapon choices and less skill sets.

When can we expect the make-over kits to be implemented?

I think you guys are going way of the top with all this single handed swap stuff, we need more viable buffs such as buffing P/P with utilities and damage fix Flanking strike to be more reliable and add a rifle for 1200 single target, i cannot extend myself enough to remark how important this is.

Actually, one set is really easy to add, and not necesary with an expansion, wouldnt surprise me if ina couple of months we get the so wanted rifle we all thieves want and need.

Also P/P wouldn’t fit with 1200 range at all.
