it’s a full blown bunker meta now. u either self sustain bunk or bunk with pets. glass has become so glassy that they have to be played perfectly, or a bunker will be back to full in no time and easily smash the glass canon.

I really enjoy group fights, and this map’s size is perfect for group fights all over the place at a frantic pace.

If other maps can be adjusted to be competitive, why not this one?

I have had some awesome fights on the boat, running around the thing and hiding around corners and stuff, it’s great

Hotjoin should be made to be all 5v5, without the option to pick a team at the start, and switching in to spectate should put u into spectate for the entirety of the match.

Hey guys, just wanted to pop in here and state that come the release of the feature build players will no longer be able to carry the orb while in a transform. For those unfamiliar with what a transform is in PvP, it is a skill that changes your skill bar. I.E Rampage, Elixir U, Tornado, etc. We’ve also trimmed off some hard edges on the map to make travel more smooth and functional.

Thanks and I hope this makes the map more enjoyable for those whom have issues with it.

This does nothing to address the blaring mobility disparity between the classes on this map.

Ele is currently the most unforgiving class to play. U have to know all of ur skills and when to use them, or u will be in downstate within seconds. It’s just that simple.

The next squishiest class, Thief, is so much more forgiving than Ele. Ele is true YOLO.

And I think fresh air s/f is a bad kitten spec and super fun to play, however if ur timing is off u will be nullified completely.

Like, have fun fighting a double endure pain warrior with a shield, with berserker’s stance to nullify your blinds. The warrior is free to do whatever it wants for most of the fight, whilst the Ele gets to play a waiting game to use its skills, and that is only if they survive the 1:30 of an unharmable warrior runnin loose.

Yes, Spirit Watch is the worst map, by far. It is in dire need of fixing. Since, matchmaking is already so random, and with the disparity of mobility between the classes, this map is by far the most imbalanced.

Since, it takes 2-3 people to actually kill a bunker orb carrier, it is impossible for that team to chase after the orb carrier and defend precious conquest nodes. Spirit Watch is almost always a blow out with rando matchmaking compositions. Where one team will have 2 mesmers, 2 thieves, and a ranger, whilst the other team has 3 warriors, a guardian and a mesmer. It is nigh impossible for some compositions to compete.

What type of structure would you find interesting for leagues and ladders?
For leagues, I would like to see at least, a 2v2 and 5v5 league, both soloq and teamq viable, like we have now. For ladders, I would like to see a system similar to SC2 where there is no leaderboard, but placed in a ladder based on your performance, per class, not account wide. With maybe 5-6 different ladders, like, Skrit, Quaggan, Tengu, Hylek,Destroyer, Dragon, etc…keep`m GW2 themed

How long should a season last?
3 months, quarters are a great way to divide a year.

What would motivate you to play in one?
The options to play by myself, and to play with a team, much like the current tournament system.

What types of rewards would you like to see?
Obviously, a currency that is useable in all aspects of the game, Laurels and gold, and the ability to pursue finishers, and back items, titles that are ladder specific. An end of the season reward for those in the top of what ever ladder they may be in, keep it % based, not a specific number of players, cuz that is too similar to a leaderboard. Also, access to more novelty items to be used in the heart of the mists. Like the Quaggan tonics.

How would a player earn these rewards?
Some rewards should be at the end of the season, and most should be progress based. Like, maybe I am in the Quaggan ladder, but I want a Dragon ladder skin, let me trade in like 45 Quaggan tokens for something that would cost like 5 Dragon tokens to someone in the Dragon ladder.

How would you encourage players of all skill levels to participate?
By making each ladder reward a player, and giving access to higher up ladder rewards, even if a player is not in that ladder. Restrictions are no bueno, but hard work is fine. Like, every ladder should have specific end of the season rewards, so those in the lower ladders get things that those in the higher ladders don’t. Then there is nothing really shameful about being in a “lower” tier.

The current state of thief is, to do well with one in Conquest mode, u have to have really good timing skills and know where to be and when to be there,

Aside from that, thief is highly overrepresented and most thieves are incredibly bad at the class, which is great since they have like 0 hp,

Most of the time thieves are a non threat and burden to their team.

What Builds do the Devs Run?

One thing is for sure, and this is not meant as a diss.

Even with the massive amounts of insider knowledge, none of the dev’s run builds that are innovative or anti/counter meta. They tend to run simple builds that don’t require a lot of thought, because they are simply not that invested in this format.

I’m not saying this to brag, but I have successfully 2v1’d developers before. My proudest was at the beginning of the hambow atrocity, I was runnin hammer/gs and 2v1’d Powerr and Nightmare who were running hambow

The simplest warrior build that would work, would be 0 traits, hammer/mace/shield, with healing signets, 3 stances, and the elite signet, throw on a barbarians amulet and lyssa runes, and you`ll be ready to viably compete, the traits just make them that much better, but this class is so OP, they are somewhat arbitrary and, honestly, picking the wrong traits will kitten u harder than picking no traits

Hi, I am from the guild GASM on Dragonbrand. Right now we are looking to recruit individuals who are interested in SPVP

We are a very fun guild, with a focus on fun and a positive/helpful attitude and really do our best to avoid any sort of drama/rage/negativity as we know this does not foster beneficial relationships for anyone.

That doesn’t mean we don’t try hard, we do. But we also have fun and have been known to run crazy comps just for fun, like 5 warriors, all Pet specs, etc…etc..Meaning we focus on getting better and having fun and supporting each other, not some immature and tunnel visioned focus on winning.

You don’t have to be on Dragonbrand to join, and U don’t even have to rep all the time (Our guild leader really loves it when people rep all the time though, cuz he is very proud of this group we have), but all I would ever ask if that you rep us when you’re pvp`n.

Though, I bet that the more time u spend with the guild, the more U will want to rep us

Lvl requirement for tournaments

I think having some sort of requirement for joining tPvp or Solo queues would be great. I know I hate getting new players in my solo q matches. I never tPvp with less than a team of 5 because of the random newb pugs.

Also, I feel preloading skills and armor on a first timer who enters the mist is a bad idea.

Instead when someone first enters the mist all their skills are blank, as well as weapons and armor and provide them with an introductory quest.

The introductory quest
– Purchase a weapon from the Weaponsmith
– Purchase a sigil from the Weaponsmith
– Equip the Sigil
– Purchase starter armor from the Armorsmith
– Purchase Runes from the Armorsmith
– Equip 6 Runes
– Purchase an Accessory from the Accessory guy (forgot his name)
– Equip 5 Utility Skills
– Set your traits
– Visit the Hotjoin guy and play your first match

I know it seems kinda long but I think it will help out a ton of new players.

This post probably deserves it’s own thread, it is that good of an idea. Seriously, this is one of the most productive posts to hit this forum.

yes, that could work too. If it only spawned twice, or even three times, that would make it much more tactically important

And, I just think that movement skills, of any type should cause an orb drop, I think utilities, like stun breaks or reflects are ok for the carrier, since they are taking so much heat and there is so very little ways for other teammates to offer support

Like, when ferocity was the buff down there, maybe the competition around the mid wouldnt be so hot, which is good, cuz conquest can get neglected pretty kitten spirit watch, due to excessively long midfights,

but when it was tranquility or stillness, the fights for those buffs would be epic and pivotal, making that huge open space with some good LOS areas just as important as the conquest nodes above

what’s funny is, skyhammer has the exact same layout as raid of capricorn, u just dont need to run to the boat to load the hammer, which would potentially fix that one bad map

Having played from the beginning, I have always loved Capricorn because of it’s size and how this map encourages group fights nonstop, I love that

It would be so easy to change this map to make it soloq viable, if no developer wants to take the 20 minutes to make the changes, I offer my services for free, just let me use ur map editor, it looks easy enough

I’ll make the canon shoot the sharks, so that we don’t lose them either, they’ll land like the normal canon hit, then flop around and attack anything around them as they perish from a lack of oxygen, u know, like any other beached animal

This is why I am looking forward to the switch from a leaderboard, with which honestly in our goldstart/silverstar/bronzestar/checkplus/check/checkminus society should not have ever even been implemented, to leagues or ladders.

I mean, in this industry it is not uncommon to cherrypick the best ideas from other games and use them in your fashion…..no popular online competitive game uses leaderboards….not a one

What really boggles me, is considering how easy it is to get a character to max level in PvE, why is the highest rank so ridiculous? Since the rewards are simply cosmetic, I really don’t get it.

And as we have seen, people dont stop playing this game once they hit the max,

the only thing I can think of, is because pvp rank is account bound and not character bound….but why not make them character bound? I’d be fine with having a R80 necro and a r30 engineer

Well, if they made it possible to stomp someone underwater, then I think the map would be perfect. It is probably my favorite map, over-all, but since they removed the water in TOSS it seems that underwater stomps are harder to fix than map adjustments like removing the water….

I mean, remember that one DevStream where they displayed how easy it was to add bumpers and barriers to skyhammer and remove some of the glass plates?

I mean it took the guy, like..30 seconds in real time to fix Skyhammer, so please, do the same for Raid, …

Why can’t u guys just remove the water from this map like u did on TOSS?

Leave the ship in the middle, so mid fights have this wonderful obstacle to LOS around and such, but this map is really great for groupfights, cuz it is so tiny and easy to move around. It’s a shame it’s not in soloq rotation.

I know the Shark’s are cool, but whatever, a busted up pirate ship is cool too, and group fights are SUPER COOL

I have 4 of them, collecting the other 4 atm and about halfway through, though I only have like 45 wins on my Ranger. And I have only been playing Engi on Skyhammer pops, but I am pretty close to champ genius….so we can’t remove Skyhammer just yet

maybe make ALL movement skills to cause orb to be dropped AND, have orb a bit further away from stairs, like 500 distance would seem nice

If they don’t want to remove the orb I could see a change like this being effective.

Because, yeah, go warrior, go gs &s/sh with bulls rush and a bunker build, and just carry orbz allday erryday. Like 0/0/30/20/20, it is unstoppable at carrying orbs, and cannot be CC’d at all.

This map punishes some classes especially hard, like mesmer, which is already not good at conquest mode, and cannot carry an orb unless it is 100% free to do so.

I know that you devs are opposed to removing maps from the tournament line up, just because a portion of the community is unhappy with the map in competitive play.

So, here is my suggestion. Please remove the orb from the Spirit Watch map. In its place, you could put in one of the buffs from Temple of the Silent Storm. Or rather, let it be a random buff from TOSS on a set timer.

This way, the map does not lose one of it’s unique features and points of heavy contest. And players will still have to pay attention to mid area.

I am not trolling. I am earnestly trying to think of ways to encourage players to understand that winning a match is not solely about killing enemy players, even if you take a more offensive role.

I do not think that I am alone in noticing that most players do not understand the fundamentals of a conquest match. And that most losses are caused by players engaging in play that is counter-productive to a conquest match. Like fighting off point, or capturing a point and then immediately leaving it. Or charging headfirst into a fight where they will be outnumbered.
