Revenant has the same range as an elementalist with hammer btw but they hit 2-3 times harder and have a heavy armor…
They have a much better Auto-Attack, #2 which definitely does need a bit of a reduction(although to be fair, you can strafe the kitten thing; shave it a bit or make it worse at range, but increase capabilities elsewhere), and a way to defend against projectiles.
The trade-off comes from being pretty bad at closer ranges and being completely awful at Control, unlike the Elementalist Staff. You see, what I actually dislike is the blind hate. Blind hate that this thread is bound to cause (and undoubtedly IS a cause of the hate itself).
Does Revenant need changes? Of course. Not only are some things still too strong(or too weak), but they just don’t make sense design-wise! If you were to change at the very least hammer #2 and Enhanced Bulwark/Shield 5, you’d notice much bigger weaknesses in these builds.
Unfortunately, many want the class to be nuked from existence rather than tweaked(which is all it needs to fall in line).
What is there to blind of? If anyone is acting blind it is clearly you
Yes 1050 power is everything Lets not forget the Precision and Ferocity on there (Which Also accounts a lot on the dilemma). That amulet and stat spread separates a Glass cannon from a condi spec or bunker.
Now if the eles is dying to a settler amy (WITHOUT CONDITIONS) now clearly something is wrong here.
Okay look at this way. Can settler Ranger using LB AA kill the ele faster? We all know the answer to this one.
Even if the Ranger traits into MM with remorseless or whatsoever.
Bottom line: “A settler amuler SHOULD not Outdamage a Marauder Amulet if he is using 0 conditions”
What I hate is blindly defending a broken class.
So what’s the point of this? The Revenant had a bad amulet for Power damage but was still running the Devastation line (tons of damage increasing traits there) while using a high DPS weapon that hits 3 times for every Fireball you could cast.
I’m surprised you didn’t drop faster.
Hint: Settler has 0 Power stat, Thats 1050 difference in power. Which is a lot. Common sense seems to be a lost art these days. It also had 0 ferocity and 0 precision, meaning it can’t crit unless with fury.
Also, assuming the ele was running fire, thats another 150 power.
Also, the ele had the start, also had Frost armor into the fight (10% dmg mitigation)
So stop defending this obviously overtuned class.
@Alekt
1 huge flaw you have in the test is that you have scholar runes on, the first attack the rev gives you removes that 10% damage modifier which will have actually killed him.
But the point stands, 1050 power is a HUGE Difference.
Inb4 rev mains say L2P
Bump, if anyone can answer that would be much appreciated!
When the season ends, do we all start in amber division when the next season starts?
If yes, will it count for the meta achievements “Crossing Division 1/4”
I for one believe that everyone will return to amber since the latter season officially ended.
So after the season ends to be we all go back to amber division?
If that was the case, do you get the “Crossing Divisions achievement” from going back to amber to emerald again?
I just have a feeling we all go back to amber.
Nope, just lets you carry memories of the tears shed due to your existence.
So nothing at all? The flavor text is only visible when you check your inventory? lame.
Other than the meta achievements, does this amy give any unique effects in particular?
What I meant by unique effects is:
This is the thing I was wondering, how do people reach a hi MMR if they are total * when it comes to pvp?
what is MMR?
This kind of stuff is what is costing me games.
What boggles me further is how do these people reach sapphire if they were so bad?
easy matchups maybe?
I play condi bunker mes. Burn on block, blind on block/evade, confusion on block/evade/blind. Yaaaay. It totally is much harder to play than my Thief, makes me feel mad skilled to be invulnerable and kill things in the meantime… Nerf Thief, amirite?
link build pls
5 good solos still rekt full 5 man teams.
the chances of getting a 5 all good pug is?
From what I’ve heard, league play matchmaking uses both league placement and MMR, meaning that the higher your league placement is, the more likely you are to get matched vs very good players, even if your MMR is lower than theirs. For example,
Sapphire player with 1200 MMR might be considered equivalent to Emerald player with 1500 MMR, meaning that the Emerald player has a very good chance to beat the Sapphire player and thus gain a pip.
Obviously I have no details on how exactly the formula works, but from what I’ve read, this seems to be roughly how the system is functioning.
This system seems like it will work in theory to me, because it means that good players in lower leagues definitely have a chance to move up in leagues with a higher than 50% ratio in w/l.
This is actually whacked then.
You worked super hard to reach ruby as a solo quer, then you get matched with sapphires and emeralds.
After that when you lose a game, you have more to lose since you also go down tiers in ruby, and emeralds and sapphires only lose a pip?
Wow whoever thought of this is such…
Maybe you don’t. Maybe Sapphire is your skill cap.
You can’t blame everything on matchmaking.
Remember that other people are queueing into the same matchmaking situation that you are…
If you get stuck with a team that insists on feeding a zerg camping your home while you try to cap and hold 2 other points it’s not a skill issue on your part.
I sailed through amber and the first tier of emerald easy 2nd tier I got strings of premades, stuck with teammates who didn’t know how to rotate around a zerg, or a combination of both.
And you know what…other people get queued with bad teammates sometimes too.
And sometimes you get queued with people that are better than you.
These are hard facts to swallow, I know. Everyone likes to think that they’re god’s gift to PvP and that teammates are the ones holding you back from being in the Legendary division, but sometimes that’s just not the case.
Considering how much focus people here are putting on their 1 v 1 skills, I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s a reason people are having trouble winning…
Ahmm.. if you think Matchmaking is not a problem you are completely mistaken.
If you think people not knowing where to go, and 2-3 capping a point, kept going far to die are better than us, go ahead.
I believe you too are not that very good Imo. so where are you getting these statements?
To all those saying “Just X loses, I have seen worse”
You guys gotta remember this is sapphire not amber.
losing 3 to 5 in a row, will not let you progress further. What if you you have 3/5 pips, then lose 3? So you are back at point A.
I am just highlighting the main problem and this will be worse in Ruby bec you lose tiers, losing 7-10 in a row will lose you 2 tiers.
So how do you progress vs 5 man premades, incompetent teammates, and vs Pro teams?
Maybe you don’t. Maybe Sapphire is your skill cap.

skill cap?
if we are talking about 1v1, then sure.
however this 5v5, even if you are at ESL level if you have a worse team compared to the opposing, you lose. plain and simple.

@Sekai and Laraley
Yes warhorn is subpar and it needs buffs, but warhorn does everything in a team better than focus. Water field check, AoE heals 2 of em check. AoE KB, AoE pull check. Blinds and bleeds AoE check. Boon share. Check.
The only reason (90% of the time) focus is gotten is bec of the Invuln and Condi Cleanse. I do not wanna be a bandwagonner just because it’s on metabattle.
BTW I am using the meta build, just with warhorn so do not blame the build for the broken matchmaking.
@Nearlight
It is so frustrating. Thanks for backing me up tho.
@ALL
One thing that amuses me is that higher divisions and higher MMR, you still find those people who do not know what they are doing in pvp.
I watch Chaith’s stream a lot, there are a lot of those people there too.
(edited by StickerHappy.8052)
please understand the difference between PvE with PvP. life isn’t always easy in PvP. you don’t always get rewarded after X amount of time spent ‘grinding’.
Ahmm I have already 5k games, have 5 champ titles.. and been playing pvp since beta..
Am I supposed to endure more of this?
Pls fix match making. teammates are always so……
I’ve played since launch, never got a legendary, got HoT – now I can quest/build one. WOOT.
But so some reason you need stacks of Shards of Glory.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shard_of_GloryTo get these I have to run daily PvP. I don’t care for it, I have few toons I’m even half-way good at it with, and the 3 achievements I need daily for it ALWAYS require it least one win with a particular class (of 4).
So some days I’m playing something I’m not particularly in the mood for that day, with a character I don’t know how to play in PvP, solo matched against pre-made-teams who select Skyhammer. As a reward – I lose over and over, get told I suck, and then /danced on by people with high ranked PvP achievement titles.
By the time I finally grind through it – I can’t stand spending another moment in GW2 and log. You know when you haven’t quit an MMO yet…. but you know its just a matter of time… (like in WoW when all you did was login and run your garrison for a month). That’s where I’m at here.
Every league division has a ton of shards of glory fyi.
Greatest Solution to Leagues
Amber to Sapphire
- Reduce Pips Needed from 5 to 3
- Increase Tiers
Ruby – Legendary
- Same tiers
- Losing will not always lose you a pip, especially against a premade
- Blowout games 0 pip lost
- Close games 500-400 lose 1 pip. (Would not matter if vs premade, atleast it was a very good match, not 1 sided)
Here’s what I suggest:
- Cut the needed pips per tier to 3.
- Increase Tiers
So everyone can get a chance to play fairly, no 5 winning streaks needed. getting 3 wins is more feasible than 5.
Just my 2 cents.
It is very frustrating I am sure a lot of the people complaining here too are part of the the category of what I said.
But let’s be honest it’s not all Anet’s fault but a lot of the populace are baddies too.
Not everyone is born to be a good “twitch” player. Most MMOs up to GW2 did not require the same reflexes, strategies and extensive knowledge of so many class mechanics and animations.
That is the point.
PvE oblivious players should be matched with PvE oblivious players
The matchmaking is making everyone’s experiences bad.
It is very frustrating I am sure a lot of the people complaining here too are part of the the category of what I said.
But let’s be honest it’s not all Anet’s fault and a lot of the populace are baddies too.
Please fix the matchmaking.
I have no idea how these people are the same level as me.
It’s not solo q and its not premade vs pug.
Its the matchmaking and MMR.
you can still get those 5v5 all solo quers but it will still contain people who do not know what they were are doing.
Problems:
- People have no idea that the map exists, I cap home, and someone will still go there.
- People keep going far, and then die a 1v1, outnumbered everywhere else. Then keep coming back far.
- People 3 capping a single node.
- People act like all roamers, cap a point, then leave, then get the point decap, can’t sit still on a point.
- NO ROLES OR WHATSOEVER.
Guess what my thief is a bunker thief.
I am guessing a lot of the people complaining on the forums are also baddies.
And this is in Sapphire Division, please MMR and Matchmaking. FIX IT.
It gets worse, in a sapphire atm tier 1, winning 1 losing 1, i can never get progress.
I don’t agree with removing the fire combo field from Fire Overload, but I do agree with it being a whirl finisher the entire time of the cast. Why? Well, it would make condi builds more potent for this, since the target basically has to stand in your aoe (which is tiny anyway) to get even some mild burn. Not really worth the 20s CD right now.
I am not removing the fire field, I only want the fire field after you finish spinning. That way you make full use of your whirl finisher, esp great with team combos. You do not lose anything bec you still get the fire field after that fact.
@All
Really 100+ views and no one has any thoughts?
always q 5man with ts
Which is a complete flaw on the system. So you mean to say people who have lives will have a hard time to play ruby?
Wwwwwwwaait….. Am i getting this correctly?
Matchmaking = 50% MMR (pure skill value) + 50% division placement (farmpoint value) ?
Example.
I have same high MMR as helseth.
He just became t3 blue.
I am still t2 yellow.
Reason is unluck, class preference, whatever….Matchmaking will therefore keep giving me easier t2 enemies, so i win more, more pips, untill i catch up with my same high mmr and also high division buddies.
please tell me its like this grouch, THAT WOULB BE FANTASTIC AND I WOULD TAKE ALL CRITCISM BACK.
its also exactly same i and others suggested a year ago when we changed to farmpoint system, only i mentioned 90:10 ratio
Okay of this is true, then its good.
So how bout when you reached Ruby Division? This is harder to play as a solo quer because you can go down a tier, even two if you get those lose streaks.
Here is the problem
Even in Emerald grinding is very hard, you HAVE to win 5 straight matches to ensure a safe tier spot. As a solo q player, How often will that happen?
Or winning 2-3 and losing 1-2 a few times. 5 Wins in a row is not the only way to progress, that’s kind of silly to expect..
If you didn’t lose 2 pips, your suggestion is good, but sometimes you do lose 2 pips.
So losing a few times would not cut it. For one simple fact, if you go solo q, you can’t control other 4 people on your team.
which ties in into the point solo puggers should only be matched against solo puggers, If they ever lose on that setup, it wouldn’t bad since they can still put up a fight.
Here is the problem
Even in Emerald grinding is very hard, you HAVE to win 5 straight matches to ensure a safe tier spot. As a solo q player, How often will that happen?
The problem is worse when you get to ruby.
The Mtachmaking system and MMRs (Pugs vs Premades) and the whole leagues primarily cater to teams except AMBER Division
But when do we address Pug vs Premade?
The Losing of pips wouldn’t be that bad if they were even matches.
Give it some time.
Yes it’s quite broken, but new stuff usually always is.
Go play PvP like you always have done and ignore pips until they fix this system.
#YesWeNeedSoloQ
It’s not leagues.
It’s matchmaking and MMR system, which are 3 years old.
I would wait longer than 3 days and at least until after we enable decay before making a judgement on how the team leaderboard will settle out. It is not our intention that a single team of players has the time to possibly keep that many entries at the top of the leaderboard.
Clearly you don’t play your game and that the devs are oblivious as usual… Teams such as PZ and Abj are the only ones that can play this game full time compared to others who actually have a life, therefore being able to farm leagues which they will continue to do will be possible. I think it’s time for a reset button for developers at Arena Net since there is precedent that time and time again you can’t set up a proper MMR system, and you can’t balance this game and won’t commit to balance. I’m not gonna be surprised if GW2 is going to die within the next two years since (from what I’ve heard) WvW is screwed up and PvP is getting worse and worse and none of these issues you guys properly address. People are already leaving this game to go play something else.
To those who actually have a hard time comprehending this, the keyword is LIFE
First things first
- Swap Stability on Harmonious Conduit to Speedy Conduit. Harmonious Conduit is now: " After finishing an overload, grant boons to Allies depending on your Attunement" 360 radius.
Reason With a class mechanic that requires you to channel for 4 seconds, it’s only logical for stability to be baseline.
Outcome This will open more builds namely shout builds,Tempestous Aria, High Condi Removal builds with Invigorating Torrents.
- Latent Stamina – Remove the ICD, this is such a pathetic trait to begin with
- Imbued Melodies – Give it a 20% condi druation to warhorn skills, and keep Sand Squall proc and boon duration
Reason . Buffing this trait will put it slightly on par with Elemental Bastion. A lot of Warhorn’s conditions are very easily avoidable, I would say this would be fair. And this is a GM trait might as well make it competitive.
- Lucid Singularity – this is such an out of place trait, change it to something relevant like "Shouts remove a boon and inflict a certain condition depending on the attunement. 1 boon removed, 1 condition inflicted. Reduce 10% Recharge on shouts.
Reason Currently we do not have a CDR trait for our shouts, A Reverse guardian trait would be solid, only put 10% reduction for balance purpose.
Outcomes With the 2 GM traits, Elemental Bastion won’t be an official pick every single time. Creates more build diversity.
WARHORN
At the moment, warhorn is really subpar compared to foucs and dagger. Why? It has 0 Condition Removal, and 0 Damage Mitigation, without those, focus will always get picked over it
FIRE
- Heat Sync – Make it function like BWE3, Make it Copies all your boons to your allies.
- Firestorm – Retain the skill as it is.
WATER
- Tidal Surge -Add: “Remove 1 condition for each ally it passes”
- Water Globe – Add: “Remove 1 condition for each ally it passes, Inflicts 1 second of Chill for each foe it passes”
> I believe these are balanced since you have to chase the skills to get full benefit.
AIR
- Cyclone – Make the Radius to atleast 300 to 360. This skill is easy to avoid as it is. It often misses
- Lightning Orb – Very Weak skill. Add 1 more orb, and remove 2 boons on initial cast.
EARTH
- Sand Squall – make it a 2 second invuln while rooting you into place similar to Earth Shield’s Fortify. Keep the aura and prot effects but it triggers after the invuln. Increase cd to 40 seconds.
- Dust Storm – Please make the targetting less RNG and wonky, I would make it a circle rather than a line. Otherwise good condi burst skill.
OVERLOAD PET PEEVES
- Fire – Please make the entire sequence a whirl finisher. Remove the fire field from the initial spin so you can combo other fields. After the Whirl Finishes, that is the only time the fire field should appear.
Thoughts?
I believe a lot of my tweaks are all reasonable like the GM traits because they are competing with each other.

…
But in general DH traps are balanced, still anoying but balanced.
That’s your opinion.
The problem with DH traps is the daze. Nuff said.
Being dazed continously will prevent any counterplay once you triggered them
Daze on traps is a severely overpowered trait for an Adept. If you slot in 4 traps you basically get 4 sources of AOE HARD CC.
Just compare it with the ranger Trap trait.
Cripple on proc. <—————————————————- Just compare that to DH trait, the latter is obviously OP.
Its air overload.
Wow. The tooltip never mentioned any CC. is this legit?
It’s definitely not shocking aura since that has an ICD. I interrupt people bet 1-2~ secs roughly.
Maybe it was the static charges?
(edited by StickerHappy.8052)
So anyone hasn’t experienced this?
Sometimes when I finish overloading, there is something that continously interrupts people and downed targets.
I dont even see a CC on the tooltip.
Anyone know what it is or have the same experience?
Where do I get them?
1.) I know you get them from crossing divisions, but is this the only way you can get them?
2.) I am assuming that once the season ends, and the new one starts, will you all start in amber again so you could get more tickets?
3.) Is crossing divisions give you exact PvP league tickets to buy everything on the League vendor, to be specific getting to legendary division will be able to give me all the league tickets i need to buy everything?
Thank you.
Without proper match making, pve players who barely know a thing about pvp are messing up games.
Leagues is useless, I always get teamed up with players who seemingly oblivious to pvp basics.
3 people capping a point and so on.
Noone looks at the map either.
Hate to admit it but Helseth is right especially the last part.
I for one having a semi high MMR, it sucks to be facing premade teams of High Caliber when i solo q.
You can argue that I should get a team, read again: semi high MMR. I will need atleast a team of that MMR to be able to put up a fight or even win.
Otherwise it’s pointless.
why can Evan Lesh reply to issues but why the balance team can’t?
What confuses me is that, correct me if I am wrong.
The Balance Team has that one job if not primarily addressing balance changes, I mean how hard could that be?
Before someone bashes me, I know balancing is hard, but what I do not get is how hard can it be to release even just 1 or 2 buffs/nerfs to all classes?
Dec 1 Patch – 0 Balancing
Nov 17 – 0 Balancing mostly noise reduction crap.
- Noise reduction/visual clutter can be done every 3 days or so. Just edit a code and poof.
This devs also get paid on top of doing a career they love, but I just do not see how a passionate person can be this lacking in terms of consistency
Some people are so passionate about the game that they theorycraft and create builds most of the time, test stuff and etc. The devs cannot do even that. We also have the forum to help them where to start.
Communication is even worse.
Now tell me, why is that Evan Lesh can reply here on the forums but most of the devs can’t?
Before I get infracted again for the nth time, forum moderators know this communication and balancing dilemma has been a problem over and over again, so let’s not be blind and hypocrites about this.

As Kodama said, it won’t be a nerf but a fix since its vitality has been messed up since BWE3. Bristleback damage was also nerfed before, but it took place before BWE3 went live, since its auto attack was shown to hit twice during the reveal at TwitchCon.
They can nerf it all they want BUT please fix the targetting!
GW2’s pvp is literally still in its infancy and it still has balance problems. It needs time and care to grow – if it will grow, of course.
OH plzzzzz.. after 3 years… we are way ….way… way… pass that excuse. *(rolling my eyes)
And we will continue to be in infancy if the balance devs dont step up. 3 freaking years frequent balancing is the problem, so why can;t they fix it?
a.) they do not want to
b.) they do not have enough man power to do it
c.) they are clueless
Well no good thief runs the dmg on dodge id say :P
Caed does. Also, some of you are for some reason forgetting that you can cast the mes shield block twice without continuum.
we’re not forgetting… we’re assuming players, by now, learned to recognized the skill and stopped attacking the mesmer once he pops his shield, thus tiggering the “deja vu”
we are talking about 1v1 scenarios after all.
in a team fight, I purposely trigger it by going in the mass of aoe
BunkerMesmer4Life
Welcome back, been searching here and there for you. Bothering your guildies a lot.
This build, like many other builds that have come out since HoT release, has profound strengths and profound weaknesses. I’ve had decent success against them on viper shiro/mallyx. Just gotta get the diamond skin down and go ham with condis.
Here is the problem, you are also using one of the arguably overtuned classes. Do you think a dardevil or berserker would do the same?
