My 2 cents:
Get rid of Ether Signet, you shatter a lot on this playstyle, you are not even reaping its passive effects. EF would serve you more, or the Well heal for team support. If you are just going for the burst, this alone leaves you vulnerable without a heal for 35 seconds because its not traited.
Hello fellow Warriors! If you don’t remember me, I wrote the Suggestions for the Warrior thread a little while back. It was received very well, and b/c of that I said I’d attempt to write up a full overhaul in a nicer format.
This will be very similar in appearance to the Warrior Redone thread, but the content and ideas are a bit different from what they are working on. I do want to applaud the work that’s gone into that thread, and kudos to emkelly.2371 for all of the work he’s put in. Way to go!
Ok, so here is what I’ve been working on! I went with google docs, and tried to make it easy to read. I’ve made a lot of changes to our traitlines (excluding Berserker… I didn’t feel it needed anything with the changes to the other traitlines), and would like critiques. Please be kind, and if you think something should be changed, please leave your reason/s as to why. I did my best to make things as balanced as possible, but as we all know… balance is up for interpretation. Enjoy!

5 seconds of Cripple with the ICD reduced to 15 seconds would be fine. What would make it not tremendously garbage is an added interval for each target it would proc on like the Mesmer trait [Ineptitude].
That doesn’t just apply to Predator’s Instinct, however, as many traits on all professions need to have an interval and match Ineptitude. Not all, but many.
This sounds great bu the problem here is the threshold. Cripple is a very very weak effect on a trait that only procs 50% of the time.
PS: Have you seen Heim anywhere?
If the intent is to play with friends then they’re not doing it to get into matches they would have otherwise not got into. And anyway its up to the matchmaking to ensure the teams are even with the matches they do get into.
Whether they’re queuing with their friends or some random “anchor” out of the mists is irrelevant. What matters is that they’re using this lower ranked player to bring down their team’s average MMR to the point where the matchmaker will place them into matches that they would never get into otherwise. They’re doing this intentionally.
If all they want to do is play with friends then no it isn’t intentional. Heck if the wait time is hours then its not intentional either. You seem to think knowing the consequences of something makes it intentional, no it doesn’t.
Heck even if they do it just to get matches at all due to the ridiculous queue times at diamond and legendary I don’t blame them at all, given the achievement requirements.
I do blame them because if they’re smart enough to figure out how to game the system then they’re smart enough to know why they shouldn’t. They’re compromising their reputations and moral integrity and causing no small amount of grief for people simply attempting to progress through the ladder in a legitimate fashion. That is unacceptable.
Matchmaking system is supposed to account for that, if it doesn’kittens a systemic issue.
So how do you know the intent if for friends or not?
I would just classify it as a Failure of leagues system itself.
Okay since the ideas of damaging conditions on it are gone, Why not add boons to it/ non damaging conditions on it for soft CC?
This will make it more team/support oriented and synergizes really well with the aspect of healing.
Any ideas guys?
Please Change it to:
- Apply 2.5 seconds of Cripple on a Critical Hit ICD 10 Seconds (You and your pet, separate ICDs)
Otherwise it is such a useless trait.
Having this change will help kiting immensely.

Let’s keep the support option still available to use but with less self tanking option, on the other hand I’m trying to propose a viable non OP suggestion to make burst ele finally a reality, without having massive profession redesign.My nerf to elemental bastion simply makes meta aurashare less tanky in general during team fight, but in 1vs1 you still good to go as long as you know what you’re doing.
Reason why I’ve removed protection, vigor and regen from tempest line and proposed to add a flat single condi removal to aura use no boons or healing
Why don’t you go with your original decision and just make it so that elemental bastion scale well with healing power?

It would be pretty interesting see how the pro league would actually be a lot more enjoyable to watch if chronobunker wasn’t a thing. You wouldn’t have two chronobunks on each point with a portal ensuring everyones survival. It’s just ridiculous, if you can’t see this problem then you’re part of the problem.

Chronobunker is fine tough. It’s not completely unkillable like the new DS auramancer. 2 guys should be enough. sometimes the trick doesn’t lie in killing it rather in keeping them busy. It hits like a wet noodle. And can’t do anything else then support. even bunker tempest now can hit you for 3 to 4 burn stacks if you don’t watch out.
It can be focused down. When you are having a skirmish have a few of them keep the mesmer busy so that it cannot spam boons or well of precognition. It’s thier CC and wells that kitten you up. keep them busy and you are good imo.
Again with the unkillable DS auramancer, I have never seen of these.

It’s pretty much unquestionable that the 4 balance patches a year was an upper management decision.
It keeps server up time higher, and allows them to have more meetings!And dear god, the amount of meetings that management has in the private sector blows my mind.

A lot of the posts here are… somewhat critical… so I just wanted to say that, for me, the league has been a lot of fun.
In about 130 games (nearly all solo), I went from no ranked experience up to ruby. There were a couple blowout games and a couple of times where people were jerks, but far and away, the experience was positive. This is now my favorite game mode.
Thanks to Anet for putting this in the game, and thanks to everyone who gave me advice and help along the way.
This is why you had fun, OP. You had 0 mmr which should have happend to everyone but Anet “forgot” to do it. The system assumed you are new and paired you with new/unexperienced players. People with high mmr on other hand either were forced to cheat or forced into 50% los ratio by lovely mmr system.

1.) Don’t 1v1, unless you play pure Direct Damage/ Hybrid.
2.) Ctrl + T the ele when you have someone with you.
3.) CC when in water Attunement

No. There are a lot of Ruby / diamond players who play like Amber division player.
For 1 simple reason, the MMR was not reset.
Lower MMR players have an easier time Advancing divisions bec they get paired up with lower MMR players too.
i want to start off by saying I find it sad that I am posting this on yule. map chat/team chat in literally every pvp game I have played in the last 2+months has been just unnecessarily aggressive and rude. so I thought I would ask a few questions before deciding how I will proceed. can we report players who basically do nothing and spend the whole match posting over and over “what a horrible —-—— team” and other unnecessary rude posts that basically happen anytime one of these megalomaniacs starts to get frustrated with a loss? it creates an environment that really just isn’t any fun to be in and this is a game, it’s supposed to be fun. and also supposedly it’s supposed to have the friendliest online community. if not then I will be turning off my map chat/team chat from now on. I post this question in the hopes that I can get some guildlines on what is and isn’t reportable so that I might be able to keep map/team chat on; as sometimes strategy and friendly conversation happens there.

What is Shortbow even supposed to do? It sucks at Condition damage, it’s not a Power Ranged weapon (Longbow is vastly superior in every way), it’s not for CC, it’s not aoe…. I don’t get it.
shortbow should be our superior condition weapon.
how its designed it should apply a rapidly growing condition damage to be able to make up for the weak phisical damage.unfortunately like anything the ranger has is badly designed by Aney.
- flanking is almost impossible in this game in pvp. a player only need to use AA and let the system do the rest.
- flanking in pve is also extremely dangerous not making up one stack of bleed for the fact that you have to be behind enemy lines.
- the weapon has very little utility, being the #3 only attack that could be considered. anfortunately too many constrains to be able to use it (it has to hit) and too little reward (swiftness+very short evade) make it not useful in most situations.
Shortbow like many of the ranger weapons still keep the design from the first gw2 beta. And while the other classes evolved and adjusted their weapon skills if needed, the ranger kept this wonky and not rewarding weapon system.
i would make this:
- reduce the phisical damage for the shortbow at the same level as the staff.
- increase the condition presure of this weapon in every single skill.
Flanking is very possible in pvp.. even better in pve since you have access to cripple sources from sigils.
It’s just learning to kite.
But again SB suck so bad…
Blink & Portal. Which utility for movement are they sacrificing again? Because I have literally never seen a decent mesmer NOT take portal & blink.
That’s bunker or otherwise.
I’ve yet to see a bunker Mesmer who takes both of those. Heck; some take none of those. Just look around the Mesmer subforum for example. And no, they are not all noobs.
Chrono Condi mesmers are already pretty crap, with regular Condition Mesmer out classing it.
Condi isn’t the best choice for Mesmer/Chrono in high MMR matches; that’s right. But how exactly is regular condi-Mesmer outclassing condi-Chrono?
So, which build would this impact, other than bunker mesmer?
Every build that doesn’t take Domination. And yeah, that’s probably only condi-Chrono and condi-Mesmer. But since they already are that bad and unviable in high-lvl play… why nerf them even more by making them slower? Not to mention that PvP isn’t the only gamemode.
And btw, kitten the RP argument. Although it makes perfect sense in “domination”, as how the hell do you dominate someone if they run away faster than you can run?
Lol; that’s just moo-poo. Domination is about dealing damage and preventing them from running away/doing stuff. And not about chasing them or running away yourself. If anything, it would make more sense (if you were to move the trait) in Dueling, due to being swift in combat or something. But ya; obviously you’d also need to rename the trait then. And make up a trait to replace it in the Chrono-traitline. One that fits Chronomancer.
You have yet to see a mesmer take portal or blink? LOL. How can a mesmer bunker nowadays? sword 2 and what shield block?
Here is the problem: Most of you guys flock to meta battle to band wagon on meta builds.
If you are still playing 3 wells after Precog Nerf, It is such a shame.
Step 1: Log onto a mesmer.
Step 2: Spec into this build (null field vs necros)
Step 3: Play an unranked game or two to master this playstyle, then jump into ranked & try to get the Forest of Niflhel map.
Step 4: Does enemy team have a mesmer?
- Yes: instruct your team to focus their mesmer above everything.
- No: automatically win.
Step 5: Does your team have a Thief and/or Warrior?
- Yes: Politely ask them to swap to a PvP class.
- No, but enemy team does: automatically win.
- Yes, but enemy team does too: see step 4.
Step 6: Sit at mid. Rotate home if necessary. Avoid far as much as possible.
You must play in a low MMR division I am guessing because you can’t win with this one.
If people are still doing full wells, it’s a joke honestly. Just because it’s on meta battle and people band wagon to it.
Also mesmer mobility> tempest.
I have no idea why people still resort to bunker. Portal, mobility > all.

The problem is apparent when your teammates are worse than the opposing team.
That is the real problem on ruby onwards, it’s not that the opposing team is good, its just that your teammates suck.
And..you have no idea how did they reach ruby/diamond being that bad.
We don’t really need build templates. Most classes only have 1 viable build anyway.

Don’t get me started on top tier, how much of the pvp population play on high end tpvp.
I asked this question before too, I think its either the static charge you/allies get or The Lightning strikes after the lightning field procs (when the overload finishes)
But here is the weird part.. Try traiting Lightning Rod and see if it happens again, if it does it should insta kill your target for the overload duration.
Never happened to me with Lightning Rod.
The reason is, too many teen nerds with raging hormones play this game. No matter what Anet does it will still remain the same.

Cripple moves the breakbar a minmal amount per duration. For the condi CCs, the “harder” they are, the more they affect the breakbar. So fear is max, cripple is minimum, and the others are in between. I have a sigil of ice on my LB, so randomly get some minor breakbar movement through that, for example.

I do not even know why people think DS tempest is full immune to condition.
I play tempest too and I have no problem killing other eles in 1v1. Even in a mirror match.
If the ele is super good i can still get him down to 50%.
Damage output is irrelevant. If the matches stay on for so long you get a lot of damage.
Now think about it, If you manage to get a lot of damage bec you have a lot of AoEs, but you never kill anyone.
Therefore that is inefficient.
fear is unique, as it is both a control effect AND condition, means it can be negated completely by either stability or resistance / condition immunity (berserker stance, diamond skin, etc) so yeah its kinda powerful yet weak lol.

The main problem for a lot of the classes including Mesmer, is the condition spam.
As it stands right now, You HAVE to trait into inspiration, or you will die easily with so much condi spam.
If you are playing on a team it would be less required but still.
Actually I’d say it depends on what role the Mes is playing. Bunker or support where you’re sitting in the thick of things a lot? Sure. Otherwise you can quite comfortably just avoid getting bombed. Sure you’ll get caught out once in a while, that’s just how it goes. So for inexperienced Mesmers, yeah, take inspiration. More experienced once can live without it cause, let’s be honest, we’ve been living without it for THREE YEARS.
I’m still running zerker ammy with zero cleanse. Even if I do get hit by a condi bomb once in a match, it won’t happen again XD
Yea sure, vs a premade, you will not play really well against a team.
It’s the current situation that dictates the need since 2-3 classes on the meta right now which are also being used on top tier are very condition heavy.
This is actually a fact, this is also the reason why eles tend to get DS on top of all the cleanses they have. Conditions are easily spammable.
Druid can spam their immobs, revs reapers, easily high chill torment burn confusion uptime, can flip back condis, can corrupt boons. It’s just very risky to run without a cleanse.

With a couple exceptions the elite specs themselves aren’t more powerful. What makes them almost mandatory is that you need to slot the elite spec to get the improved class mechanic, and the ability to slot the new weapon type and utility skills.
Example: The DH traitline doesn’t offer much over core builds, but guardians all run it for the improved virtues, LB, and traps.
As I have said this would be the lazy way to do it, the core specs need help, not the elite specs.
If we ever manage to bring them up to par with elite specs, it will be better for build diversity AND very good time to address the VERY OLD issues the core specs have.
IDEAL ELITE BALANCING
- Bring core classes to be on par with elite specs by revamping the core class, fixing bugs, and making some reasonable buffs or tweaks
ANET’S ELITE BALANCING
- Nerf all elite specs because it is less work for them.
The main problem for a lot of the classes including Mesmer, is the condition spam.
As it stands right now, You HAVE to trait into inspiration, or you will die easily with so much condi spam.
