Good luck, Marmatt!
This was not the experience I would have expected considering all the negativity regarding the so-called, “Mystic Toilet”.
These seem to have an increadibly low drop rate considering how many are required in the various food recipes. This means they are prohibitively expensive to make.
I wonder if someone at teh Arenanets has made a typo.
I don’t love the 10 second warning reboots.
No, I’d rather time/money and effort was used elsewhere.
Offtopic:
I am still wondering how everything will turn out to be for players who dont purchase the expansion.
- Is new content just grayed out?
- We’ll they still be able to play the new class because of ‘esports’ in pvp.
- Will only be the story and new zone be locked for them?
As a WvW player, if they put a new map in the rotation, does this mean people who don’t purchase it can’t play WvW?!
I watched the video on Dulfy/Twitch about the Mastery system.
I wonder if it’s like WvW Masteries, because that’s the impression that I get.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
the end game is 9 servers full of players and 15 barren wastelands full of people screaming “SERVER PRIDE”.
A frighteningly accurate depiction. (Except that the 15 wastelands aren’t full)
I want to say THANK YOU to Arenanet for;
- New Dolyak Skins – they look event appropriate and I expect them to revert after the event
- Siege (Rams, ACs etc look SO much better)
- Specifically ACs, which look like recoloured guild siege – BEAUTIFUL. I’d love to have these (or a new recoloured skin) replace the regular Superior ACs.
- Great Guild Fireworks – These are a fantastic way to celebrate capturing a keep! More of this kind of thing please!
- I note with a little disappointment that the other fireworks from this event can’t be used in WvW.
I am pleasantly amazed that WvW got some (albeit superficial) attention! Woohoo!

How about Foraging as follows:
[..]
Sorry, but I don’t like this idea because;
- It is very convoluted, not simple enough
- Roaming players would find themselves dying through no fault of their own and by merely being in a place
Aim of that system
This proposal follows the idea that with more soldiers in a war and better, bigger fortifications the need for supply rises. This would lower a bit the number advantage of a better populated server. Farming an empty server on the other hand with fortifications in a bad condition gives less reward than capturing high tier fortifications and may be a way to answer the population imbalances on low tier servers. I have no dreams of this system fixing everything. But I believe it could lower the gap between certain unbalanced matches. What do you guys think?
+1 for this. I’ve suggested such ideas many times in the past. I think the basic idea should be one of spreading what resources you have more thinly the more you have, rather than accumulating camps and waypoints to sufficiently supply all the keeps and allow you to get around them all in time to save them.
Shamelessly quoting myself from 2 years ago:
One idea I had which might help a little is what I am calling the “Garrison Mechanic”. Each realm has a set number of guards in it’s Garrison (not to be confused with the name of the keep – this is a different concept, as in a traditional garrison of guards). These will be spread across all the keeps that realm owns, so if they have only a few keeps, each keep has more guards. If they have lots of keeps, they have less guards per keep.
Anyone who has played in Silverwastes will have noticed the PvE caravans have a special feature, namely that after they die, there is a short timer during which they can be revived before the event fails. Perhaps with this setup, you’d have to kill the NPC guards otherwise they would just rez the yak.
I brought this up before: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Res-able-Supply-Caravans/
While Ayrilana.1396 makes some reasonable points at first, the thread goes a little wayward after a while.
A special anti-golem NPC (Saboteur) could be employed as a defender when (whichever server is winning) attacks a keep with siege golems. They could either have the power to disable golems themselves or stand inside as a vendor distributing powerful new bundles.
Give us a bundle gun and we have to shoot things over a wall by bouncing on mushrooms?
I’d like to see an adventure that is a huge slide, have us go down a long waterslide-style tube. Maybe Anet could just let the physics (gravity) do the work?
I’d love to see multiple tubes next to one another so we can all race. There should be an optimal path in the tube so that we go faster while on that path, but maybe the physics will do that by itself?
That’s my idea I hope you like it please +1, like and subscribe.
It also doesn’t matter, since Anet probably already have finished their designs and ideas.
True.
All Guardians ever asked for is one of the bows, heck one of their spirit weapons is a bow!
I think it’s inevitable and I think Arenanet are teasing them by not showing Guardians with bows yet.
If this is your point of view on Guardians than mine on Elementalists with Greatsword isn’t that bad either.!
It’s not my perspective, I’m not fussed what happens. I am just reporting what’s been posted in the Guardian forum since the dawn of the game.
To get pedantic about your point: I don’t see why eles shouldn’t have greatsword, except that you don’t have axes or bows as regular weapons and you do have elemental ones. With guardians, they DO have spirit greatsword, hammer and shield and regular ones of the same types. But like I said, I’m not bothered about what happens, I can’t change anybody’s minds anyway.
It still bugs me that the basic infrastructure hasn’t been restored to a usable condition. 100% fixed bridges, leveled roadways, Char or Asura defenses set up, mostly destroyed structure torn down, debris moved and consolidated.
Maybe the players need to get to work and help out?
By the way. PC Gamer just published an interview with Colin and Mike and they talk about the new WvW borderland, too.
http://www.pcgamer.com/guild-wars-2-heart-of-thorns-interview/#page-2
I was “ranting” a bit earlier about the objectives in the current WvW maps being located at absolutely useless locations, and that they should be placed in chokepoints and locations that allow you to guard other objectives.
Well look what they’re doing. Exactly what I asked for
“Towers are located at chokepoints in the new borderland map, and have walls around them that guard those chokepoints, so holding a tower actually helps you control movement in the map.”
This is what I’ve been hoping for. I guess I should have already guessed they’re going for this direction by the way EotM is designed, having objectives inside the outer keep walls.
Well, it certainly seems promising. I like some of the rhetoric in the interview. Chokepoints, Shrines, etc. sound interesting. I’m excited to see something new, it could be really great!

I wonder what the community reaction would be if they do one specialisation per class this time then release another expansion with another specialisation per class.
Personally, I’m not bothered either way, I am just intrigued.
Aren’t the Mordrem simply Mordy corrupted creatures similar to Risen, Corrupted and Icebrood?
Ah yes, that goes some way to explaining it. I look forward to seeing our Charr-tree enemies! Boo! Hiss!
Even Woodenpotatoes skipped over it. It looks like a Charr-tree.
My wild guess: Could Rytlok inspire the creation of Sylvari-like creatures in a similar way the dead humans buried under the Pale Tree inspired the shape of Sylvari themselves?
This makes little sense because the Sylvari took ages to appear/grow, but we’re seeing Time-oriented magic in the expansion so… who knows?
I don’t want the old LA, if they’re going to rebuild it then I want a new LA.
I personally like this LA, though it is ugly I like how close the crafting stations from the TP and the Mystic toilet.I’m more conserned about what we’ll get while waiting for the x-pac since I’m pretty sure we’ll be waiting for at least 8 months
I gather from past videos that they can’t bring back the old LA because they can’t save maps (I know, right?) – anyway, that’s the line they give to the guy who has to place all the gift boxes every year at Christmas.
I’m looking forward to see if they can do something creative with the massive plates of metal.
I appreciate that you are interested in finding out more of what will be in the new map, but we didn’t show anything about it in the trailer that could lead you to the conclusions here. We’ll be talking about it a lot more and showing it off soon. At the least I’d hope you can reserve judgement until then.
Sure, I can reserve judgment, but I’ll just mention that WvW players I’ve spoken to don’t seem to want any fancy new mechanics (unless they are intended to solve the problems we currently have). That’s why, when we hear about Earth and Molten keeps we get sceptical about the new content being gimmicky like EotM.
On another note I’ll just state that we heard from devs in the past how difficult and lengthy a process it was to make a new map and yet when they do get created they are far more complex than the playerbase either requires or desires.
As a word of advice, without trying to sound patronising,
give us plain(ish) landscapes and let us make the gameplay!
I think the OP means: From the albeit little information we have, it seems they’re focusing on gimmicks instead of fixing (or attempting to fix) the problems that have existed with WvW at a fundamental level, again.
It seems that Arenanet have given up on doing this and so it is understandable that players have given up on Arenanet and are looking to other games in the hope they won’t have the same flaws.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Hopefully something that allows Guardian some variety apart from Super Bunker or Glass Cannon.
… and yet we still destroy most people in 10 seconds. It just goes to show how good life is without cooldowns
I wouldn’t get excited. Thieves should get the weakest of all upgrades since we have the strongest class atm.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
It doesn’t happen much anymore because nobody cares. Good.
Now we don’t have to spam CDIs about it when there are much more important things to discuss. Sadly, that whole CDI/talk-to-the-players thing seems to have disappeared with the griefers.
the first rule of WvW:
Coverage wins WvW.
Don’t worry guys, there was a CDI and Arenanet are working on a solution! Either that or they will ignore WvW for a year and a half like last time.
One of those things will happen, I guarantee* it!
I love WvW, but for months we’ve been matched up with servers way higher than us. We finally fell down a tier this week and I’ve been so demoralised by how much we’re dominating (we have the same score as the 2 enemies put together) that I haven’t even gone into WvW this week.
Yep. And the second someone leaves after killing a yak, someone else can revive it and it continues on with delivering supply as if it had never been
killeddefeated.Fixed it for you. My point being, you’ve still contributed to your server by downing their supply caravan, it’s now up to them to come out and rez it.
Anyway, wouldn’t this be a good way to give people some hope when severely outnumbered? Or could it be used by an outnumbering side to somehow tip the balance yet further in their favour?
If you think this isn’t an issue then you probably haven’t played WvW enough.
If a server can revive a dead yak (yes it is dead) then you killing it only barely slowed it down. Currently if you kill a yak, it disappears from the map and goes onto a 5 min respawn timer. You make it even more difficult to starve enemy servers of supply.
Although a sound theory, the idea of starving supply doesn’t realistically work in GW2.
In my experience, when you are trying to starve enemy servers of supply, they either;
- are the outmanning side, bring a lot of people to wipe you, or
- are too busy to stop you because they are outmanned.
Starving supply, therefore, is something that only the more powerful servers are capable of and thus is a symptom of unbalanced matchups.
Because there are no balanced matchups, mechanics should be put in place to assist underdogs. I think this is one. Can you think of anything positive in this regard?
They are testing removing white swords soon.
In other words: They are doing the strict absolute minimum when it comes to WvW.
If that’s the kind of ideas they’re thinking about, it’s probably better for them to continue to leave WvW alone to slowly bleed out and die.
As for automatic upgrades/cancelling upgrades: sounds like a troll/griefer’s dream. And Anet has shown they have zero intention to meaningfully deal with trolls (see troll thread where they clearly did not want to put in mods).
Honestly if they could only say “Yes we are preparing a major update for WvW” they would put an end to all the cynical and pessimistic posts.
Why would they want to do that? It’d kill the forum!
Who said WvW players wanted to remove white swords? Did Anet just decide this themselves, or did players who plays WvW regularly really want this change?
Because, I haven’t spoken to one single WvW player who want this to happen …
I did. I said it and I meant it and I still mean it.
No.

I feel like we (WvW community) have been teased with the Silverwaste PvE patch.
I think it’s interesting and shows that there are mechanics that might be applied to WvW such as the res-able caravans and air-strikes. I don’t know how viable these would be but I hope they get put in one of the test periods.
Also, the fortresses are quite pretty, I wonder if a new WvW map could use those textures… or something.
Yep. And the second someone leaves after killing a yak, someone else can revive it and it continues on with delivering supply as if it had never been

Anyway, wouldn’t this be a good way to give people some hope when severely outnumbered? Or could it be used by an outnumbering side to somehow tip the balance yet further in their favour?
It would make killing yaks pointless as someone could just come along after you leave and revive the yak.
Surely, by that logic it’s pointless to capture anything because someone could just come along and take it back.
What do you guys think of ressing supply caravans in the new Silverwaste map?
What impact do you think this would have if implemented in regular WvW?
Hey guys!
Just wandering around and doing the Living Story. Here there is that thing where Belinda’s sword gets kind of infused with her ghost. In Glint Lair you clearly see she is using the sword. Is this any kind of hint for us getting GS?^^
GIMME TOOOO
Greetings ;D
It’s more than a hint! It’s a certainty! NECROSWORD inc!
Here is GW2’s geekiest of geeks: Woodenpotatoes banging on about this stuff. Part 1.
I think it’s “Danger” not “Power”, but whatever.

Arenanet got lots right with this PvE patch. Good job to all concerned for that!
We need to change how we play. No one needs to sit in towers any longer. This is what to do:
1. Identify the zerg.
- Someone needs to search out the zerg
- When found, the player needs to trail the zerg and stick to it like glue
- This way, there will be no surprise attacks
2. Scouts for the southern camps.
- Instead of sitting in all towers and keeps, scouts will need to patrol the three southern camps of their BL to spot invaders as soon as they enter the map.
- These scouts should have more fun than just sitting in towers. They can fight anyone who enters the BL, they can take the camps.
- These scouts will alert the zerg trailer if the zerg ports into the BL.
By changing to this scouting system we will be able to deal with the loss of the white swords.
Advantages:
- It only takes 4 people to be scouts.
- It is more fun than sitting in a tower or keep.
Maybe the loss of white swords won’t be so bad after all. Maybe it will even be good.
This person gets it.
Gunnar’s is the official EU man nightmare-mode server.
Think you’ve got what it takes to beat Piken’s 80-man blob?
Think you can handle recapping all our stuff every morning after Vizuna [Insert_any_server_name] has night-capped it?
It has never been so easy to steamroll servers up until now..
man, 150 ppl vs 30 has never been so fun
and even better ..Owning all 3 borderlands 2 hours after reset is great too.
Now we can all forget about guildwars and play some Evolve or other 1/2 finished games preforming better then gw2 2 years in.I’m just saying. XD
Gunnar’s Hold vs Pikey and Viz = The mother of all blowouts.
I preferred the old system where you got the same opponents, but even fights all the time to being battered into oblivion for 4 weeks in a row. The software exists, can’t we do a rollback?

If you are keen to point out that WvW is not GvG, then you won’t mind if I politely request that a moderator please move this thread to a more appropriate forum.
Well, considering that there is no forum dedicated to GvG, and that GvG currently takes place in WvW, where exactly is this “more approriate forum” you speak of?
No.

if you can select the color it would kind of defeat the purpose of his solution.
I dont think you will agree with most of what he says, because his premise is to preserve rarity, which you dont really think should exist.Yes. Artificial scarcity is nonsense.
But the whole monetary system is built upon it (in and out of game)!
