Too late for what?
Quite. Arenanet have more or less stated that they are happy with their balancing. Personally, I think thief is ridiculously overpowered, but I don’t see it being changed – ever.
I think the only hope for people who are sick of being killed by thieves is to wait for the next game and pray that the developers there aren’t still rolling out the boring, tired, old, OP stealth class nonsense.

Of course, the nature of Monkey is irrepressible..
Everybody knows that! But what has he got to do with GW2?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zOFAD6e9Bk
What we know:
The Monkey King was/is a captive: he has a broken chain around his neck.
What we don’t know:
Who is the Monkey King?
Where is he?
Why is there a tonic and a mini of an unexplained character?
Will his story be told in Heart of Thorns?
I’m sure the community would appreciate new emotes. I would like to see:

Would it not be cool to have your server banner flying over objectives as well as your guild/blank one?
Hi Economists! Would you say that the proliferation of account bound stuff is a sign that the free market cannot exist and that it must always be regulated to some degree?
In conversations with my friends, they tell me we live in a “perverted” or “warped” version of capitalism and that total deregulation would be better.
Perfect time to reopen the SAB.
Oh this!
SAB would be a perfect Filler.
I profoundly dislike the SAB, but even I think this is a perfect opportunity to get the repeatable content back while we wait for something new.
I think we might fall into two categories.
- The “race for the roses” type of gamer, players who rush through content as quickly as possible to get to the top level, end game, etc.
- “The “stop and smell the roses” sort of gamer, players who take their time and probably engage more in the environment, story, personal interaction, etc.
“Different strokes for different folks,” as the old saying goes. I fall into the second category and I admit it, sometimes it makes me a little sad to know how much some people miss by not savoring the moment, as least with one character.
Or it could be that you can still do level 1 content at level 80 … and you don’t have to struggle as much.
This seems to be a “What’s the point of WvW” thread.
The only point (that I can see) is to troll the enemies by putting waypoints in their keeps. Of course, this disappears under the proposed new system. Leaving me wondering …
I think the commander focus meta needs a fix.
Why?
Thieves win vs every class easy if you know to play it. (~70% winrate )
Guardians often die if they miss they burst or waste all of their CD’s.Stahp with the arbitrary statistics. Guardian is the most forgiving zerker class.
What do you mean by most? >50%?
Irony!
For WvW:
- A water field would be more popular than PBAoE heal.
- Cooldowns make tomes nonviable – in fact, most of the nonviable skills on Guardian are due to cooldowns (this is also true of runes, sigils and food the cooldowns are the only thing making lots of them useless).
I think the cooldown bit extends to almost every skill that isnt viable, regardless of class..
Indeed, what a sorry state of affairs!
Wanted to run a potential idea past you all. Comments welcome.
Tome of Courage -> Signet of Courage
Passive: PBAoE Heal every 10 seconds.
Active: Light of DeliveranceTome of Wrath -> “Feel My Wrath”
Shout that grants Quickness and FuryWe like the idea of tomes and if we did this we would hope to bring them back in a future Elite Specialization.
Thoughts? Comments?
Thanks,
Jon

Rats! They bring the plague… maybe some kind of undead rat?
It’s too structured, limited, and artificial. I’d prefer something more free-form. Not so point-driven, and routine. Something with politics, alliances, consequences, etc. WvW, like the rest of the game, just isn’t that deep of an experience. I was excited about it in the beginning, back when guilds bothered to claim castles and so forth,
I agree with this. Those would be great!
Is this really supposed to decrease when it upgrades to t1, or was it lazy copy-pasting from the Keeps slide?
Daoc will always be the #1 rvr game, too bad they gave up on it when they thought Warhammer was going to replace it.
Warhammer was better, let’s fight! Back me up here, Badlands!
I like the idea of wraith-like ghostly pets rather than the shambling, slimey ooze-style monsters because the shambling pets don’t seem to shamble very much. Look at the flesh golem – it runs. It doesn’t even run in a horrible way, it runs like an athlete (of course, the mob has to keep up with the necromancer, which presents a problem). While this makes the necromancer look particularly skilled at reforming corpses, it’s my opinion that a gory mess (perhaps with a trail on the ground) would look cooler.
So your small man group, that could currently kill yaks, and choke supply from the keep/tower to deny it from being upgraded
This sounds great in theory but in nigh on three years of gameplay, I’ve yet to see it happen.
This means that there’s even less to spend points on…
What’s the difference between this and the Arenanet proposed system?
Is it just that the keep will automatically upgrade over time anyway with the Arenanet system and they won’t in the OP’s suggestion? I quite like that part of the Arenanet solution because it means low pop servers can bunker up (as they so often have to anyway) and still upgrade.
I think the new system could be good, allowing defensive underdogs to bunker up while superior servers get the benefit that dolyaks can bring – it doesn’t appear, on the surface, to give much attacking potential to the underdog, but maybe that’s asking too much.
What’s coming…
- Who cares if we lose stuff, it’ll upgrade itself anyway.
!
Seems quite an imbalanced matchup to me. Good luck UW and DL.
Well cap has been originally 120 for green, 100 for red and 80 for blue – info gathered by players as they went into 1 borderland and counted curing very early time – as I rememebr from reddit it was 3-4 am. CET. After tons of “nerfs” we have around 60-70 now. How I know that? 1. of all we counted it and the result was 60 at spawn with queue add some roamers and it is 60-70. 2. only 2( 20-30 man) guilds get into map now. 3. on reset night we had 86 ppl at ts3, with queue of 20+ for a map and no guild raiding, no1 roaming( at last we didn’t see any other than ours cap for whole night), add some pugs without ts3( not many tho, cos of many ways to check that out, but it is server’s way to check it out so I won’t type it here) and this again gives u 60 – 70.
I think it’s highly likely;
- the sides aren’t even, and
- they aren’t telling us because we would take advantage of it
Yes another ranger QQ post.
Why Anet? Why can I not find a decent fight before some no-skill longbow ranger bursts me down from 1500 range on a wall. IT MAKES NO SENSE. There is no movement in their strategy, no thought in their skill usage and no variation in their builds.
It’s a kittening disgrace to a game that used to have fun combat.
This needs to change.
I think the OP is talking about burst in general, rather than Rangers in particular. Burst damage is broadly acknowledged, I think, as being too important in this game, but if it wasn’t then some people would never die, hello eles.
That’s great news, thanks for your efforts!
What is the future of WvW?
[..]
is it all supposed to be fixed by the expansion?
[..]
I presume just about everyone else is having a similar issue?
Let me look into my crystal ball … but first you must cross my palm with silver! No? Hmm okay no ball!
Three questions, three replies;
- What is the future of WvW?
The future of WvW is more of the same, a huge influx of players when the expansion comes out and then a quick drop-off in population followed by a slow drop-off. By early 2016 (maybe sooner) I think we will be back to the same state we are in now (presuming Arenanet just release the new map and one new siege type as they have revealed, and fail to address the other ongoing issues).
- is it all supposed to be fixed by the expansion?
I don’t know. The impression I get is that from Arenanet’s position the answer to this is, “Yes”.
- I presume just about everyone else is having a similar issue?
Presume away!We (in mid-tier EU) are fine in terms of relative population. Touch wood, wish upon a star, don’t walk under ladders, wwjd, a rolling stone gathers no moss, etc…
So I recently put down 30$ to get gems. I converted them to gold and bought commander for WvW zerging. I’m having a very hard time gathering people. I’ve look around for help with creating the zerg, but they all talk about how to command, not how to create a zerg. So I’m asking for your help
From what I have observed, people;
- gather when you are successful and
- disperse when you wipe.
Success in this case can be
- winning battles or
- capturing objectives
A lot of PUG commanders avoid fair-looking battles and go for objectives instead because if they lose the battles, they lose their zerg.
One of the best ways to create a zerg is to begin by recapturing objectives on your home map. This is nice and safe when there are few enemies around and you gather people up like a candy floss machine.
[edit: I just read the other replies and realise that I repeated lioka qiao.8734’s comment – I will take this as confirmation!]
I’m surprised the devs are aware it’s missing and doing nothing about it, to be honest. I thought they didn’t notice it wasn’t available.
How do you get “doing nothing about it” from “it will come”?
The amount of time since it was available is quite considerable.
WvW mortars still sound like they are firing 5 projectiles when they are only firing one. This has been around since that audio bug months ago.
The developers know that Spear and Trident skins are a waste of time, that’s why they stopped making them.
I have suggested that trident skins become staff skins before, particularly because of Kraitkin <3

I like jumping puzzles, except for Professor Portomat’s Lab, which I can’t do because it requires a 2 hour wait (so I am told).
and over priced, 100-200 gems would feel much more reasonable.
I agree that 400gems for one bag slot (~70gold at time of writing) seems over priced.
IMO they should have offers more often. Those were great.
Ahhh standing around unable to do anything until you die…. takes me back to DAoC. Such… fun?
I found this thread linked to on the wiki as a player report. Seems to be 2 years old.
Is it still broken?
It’s quite important that it gets fixed as it is part of the highly desirable Treasure Hunter achievement.
The name is the most impressive thing about the specialisation so far. The powers certainly don’t LOOK like they live up to such a lofty title.
Do people who get this item get to test the WvW map?
I’m surprised the devs are aware it’s missing and doing nothing about it, to be honest. I thought they didn’t notice it wasn’t available.
In relation to WvW and sPvP, I believe that dungeons are time-intensive to create and result in little (comparative) time played in them. For this reason, I believe it would be wise to concentrate on improving the other end-game (I said it) modes.
-for the record, I identify myself primarily as a WvW player.
Good luck everybody who wants one of these things.
While I’m not certain about the specific proposals by the OP, I agree completely with the sentiment of his post.
Take a look at the Icons in the forum and in the game to signify Guardian.
TL;DR As the Guardian’s iconic weapon, shield should be at the very least viable and isn’t.
I think the damage idea is a good one but maybe also an invisible enemy siege detector within radius of (max range) a treb all the way in to (minimum range) a flame ram doing damage. Siege that has been established and it doing damage should immediately proc keep swords because no way in heck can players get in without siege and I find it absurd a single player tapping a structure and running away procs swords. It’s annoying.
That’s a good idea for a new piece of siege, or a trap! We know there’s already a thing that does … something … in EotM.
I’m hopeful they know that they are doing.
Yep, buff everybody so we all die even more quickly. The last thing we all need.
/rolleyes.
I just lolled my breakfast on my keyboard! I didn’t even read the post, the title was enough!
I asked on the thread. Let’s see if it gets addressed between all the PvP questions.
What is the point of having one then? We allready know what WvW problems are, they have been the same in years.
The point is to placate the community’s desire for communication (both despite and because there is nothing to say) without committing any Arenanet™ manpower to the problem.
Will there be a replacement method for making superior siege?
Why are we assuming the Mystic Forge crafting item is NEW? Isn’t it possible that it’s an existing crafting material?
Players no longer need to clear specific content for specific unlocks as hero points will be replacing skill points in the new profession reward tracks, and excess skill points will be converted into crafting materials. How will this affect players who have already cashed in a bundle of Scrolls of Knowledge?
If you already have Scrolls of Knowledge and a bunch of existing skill points, you will end up with a lot of crafting material that converts into a new currency that will be used in the Mystic Forge. We will be talking more about how that works and how you acquire that currency in the future.
Thanks for this, kindly ignore my previous post.
