Old skill points in excess of those earned by leveling and skill challenges will be converted into crafting materials for the Mystic Forge. Items and activities that were previously repeatable sources of skill points will now also provide that same crafting material.

In other words, complete garbage. Convert everything now guys because if you thought you had a lot of pointless Mystic Forge Stones sitting around in your bank, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

I think the guards health is too low.

Im watching poi 19 video where a warrior has 27k health and im just confused because a guardian is a heavy too but a average guardian player only has 15k health. Can someone explain to me what is with the health difference or should anet increase guardian health?

I complained about this and Arenanet implemented that “grandmaster” trait that nobody picks and gives us 3000 hps.

/facepalm. I don’t complain about it anymore.

  • Base player stats will be increased from 926 to 1000.
  • Base attribute points on equipment will be increased so that all the gear in the game will give higher stats than it did before. This should account for most of the missing points.
  • Each profession’s attributes will be updated to have half of their functionality be part of a specialization and half of their functionality will be a baseline for that profession. For example, elementalists now have a base attunement recharge of 10 seconds, which is reduced to 8.7 seconds when the arcane specialization is equipped.

With statistics no longer being tied to traits in HoT, how much difference will there be between exotic stats and ascended stats, given that it is about 5% atm. I suspect there isn’t enough information yet, but I can’t tell, can you?

If you just walk backwards and swing your weapon in most cases thief won’t have enough stealth time to backstab you, so he will wwaste it on facestab or just run out of stealth. SA thieves are sure annoying as hell, but backstab itself should be totally fine for anyone who played thief ever once.

Why the emphasis on backstab? Just a facestabbing thief can kill you and just stealth when you try to counter him. Facestab, stealth, facestab, stealth. You die either way.

Don’t pretend there’s a punishment for missing a backstab. It hardly matters.

There’s a team getting actual money to make sure things are balanced.

They needed to be sacked before the game got released. Stealth is the biggest mistake any game can make. I say this as a Dark Age of Camelot shadowblade (rogue) of four years.

Please don’t compare DAoC or WoW, or any other MMO stealth to GW2 stealth. They are not even close to similar.

Perhaps re-skinning the siege models could refresh our perspectives?

Here is an existing skin currently in-game as a Seraph Catapult in Gendarran Fields.

I believe that is a treb, but I don’t PvE enough to know for sure.

It should be a treb, obviously, but it is called a “Seraph Catapult”, and works… poorly, with a catapult ball flying from half way up the arm.

  • Shield (literally the icon of the class on the forums)
  • Books (elite skills, unique to the class)
  • Spirit Weapons (unique to the class)
  • Spirit fire (unique to the class)

There are all manner of people trying to impose gentleman’s agreements on the rest of us, be it the GvG and PvP “don’t add” brigade or the anti-siege troll whiners (no, I’m not baiting). In the end, it’s up to Anet to set the rules, and WvW is best as a near-sandbox with as few as possible.

I remember hearing in an interview that the Devs at A-Net were doing a ton of AI work for HoT.

I’m not sure if they had done any of it, but I didn’t notice AI improvement in the playable demo at EGX rezzed.

You’re right they do need to balance EoTM

They can start by adjusting rewards. Removing WExp, Reducing exp gain by 33%, Reducing karma gain by 33% and by making it so you cannot join EoTM if you do not have Queues on all 4 maps so that the map is used as the overflow it’s supposed to be.

The kittening supply drop needs to kittening GO! For kitten’s sake, the last thing green needs is even more supply!

Yes. 100% agree with you. Putting down AoE is too kitten hard.

it’s not really that there’s no counterplay but that there’s no way to do anything to stop the initial burst that comes from stealth when you can’t see them coming… because they are invisible.

In wvw you often don’t see them coming or you see them go into stealth and then have to guess when they attack while they have all the time in the world to sit in stealth while you dodge around and waste skills trying to mitigate the coming burst. And then if you do get a lucky dodge you are punished because the thief just stays stealthed… lol wat.

Recipe to destroy any soloer and even small groups in WvW…

Thief can;
1) Make everybody lose target at will (stealth, and lots of it),
2) Thrive (unlike most other classes) in WvW with a sPvP spec (because of stealth players can’t focus damage in the correct locale),
3) Experience no counter-play (because of stealth (again)) – you can’t evade an attack you can’t see coming.

Meanwhile most other classes spec for high defense and low damage in order to survive big fights, making them heavy but easy pickings for thief.

Did you even read or watch videos about the new WvW map? There are lots of ways they are trying to disincentivise zerging.

Thoughts on the Recent Stability Changes

At the end of the day this is a perfect example of the developers continuing trend to not listen to the WvW community.

I’m not a huge fan of the devs, but to say they didn’t listen and respond is simply wrong. For example, it’s obvious that the new map is made with a lot of CDI feedback in mind.

In conclusion, WvW just is not fun anymore. People just circle each other for a while, casters trying to cast on the enemies, then one group makes a move and the other dodges out. Repeat, until one group lands a CC or the other group gets bored and pushed and then people melt. The end. There really aren’t any tactics anymore. It is very disappointing.

My experience differs from yours. I haven’t seen this at all.

Having said this, the stability change seems … peculiar, random and out-of-the-blue. It’s not terrible, but I don’t understand the need for it. It seems like it was a waste of resources, to me.

Thief stealth mechanics are getting old

No class should be able to attack, stealth when you attack them back, heal and clease while stealthed, then come out of steath and reattack you, rinse, repeat until you are dead.

I have no problem with thieves having escapability, none at all. My problem is in and out of stealth fighting bullspit. Enough, peroid. I don’t know of any other game that allows such crap. They should hit like a truck, they should be able to sneak around, they should be able to poof and escape AFTER their kill or to get out of a tough fight….but they should not be able to repeatedly re-stealth in the middle of a fight to heal and cleanse over and over, it is absolutely absurd.

How would you feel if they left all the mechanics the same except you don’t lose target when they go in stealth?
(technically this would be an auto-reacquire of target after leaving stealth, so (like now) you can’t fire directly at stealthed target).

I like WvWvW, but blob-warfare against incredibly static opponent lists in week long pocket universes that harmlessly fizzle away to nothing is not exactly going out into the greater MMO play space and vacuuming up customers.

I commend Anet for going through all the effort to making what looks like a gorgeous map with some interesting mechanics. Unfortunately for me it doesn’t solve the problem of being blobbed to death. Maybe they didn’t want to ruin the mood of the debut by announcing more than they needed to, but this isn’t enough to get me to come back. It’s just going to be more of the same with different scenery.

Did you watch the presentation? Nearly every new aspect of the map is about spreading out the blob!

It’s my firm belief that the development team need to have at least one passionate, regular WvW player. I believe there may be a lack thereof which has led to our current status.

I have been playing WvW on a near constant and daily basis for the past year and a half. It is only in the past month that I have seen an actual bona fide Anet rep running around in WvW. I do not believe for a second that I just happened to miss them all the times they were on (assuming they were experiencing all servers equally). It is nice to know that they are finally starting to play the game they created 2 years ago under the conditions the player base is experiencing. Whether its too late or not for them to reverse the damage of inattentiveness will not be known until after HoT releases.

Although we all claim to know the problems and can suggest how to solve them, we need some “boots on the ground” to actually experience it first hand, to know and love what’s great about it and to understand our frustrations. I believe that empathy is what is required to even begin to understand what makes WvW great.

Normal siege just isn’t a thing anymore. Giant “Teams” with 8+ Omega golems are commonplace.

For this reason, IMO, Walls/Doors should either have more toughness or hit points or both.

Discus: Outnumbered buff

Outnumbered (buff):

  • Increase the number of targets on skills with +X (ex +2, perhaps as high as +5)
  • Increase supply capacity with +5, and Supply usage speed by +33% (Build/Repair/Gather)
  • When you die, you don’t trigger “Rally” on enemy players.
  • White Swords on objects (remove them if not outnumbered).

Extra changes:

  • Remove Player damage vs doors, Siege or nothing.
  • NPC scaling to number of players. (speed ratio of 0.75 ratio per 1)

Some good ideas among these – the Rally one I don’t agree with, I believe that mechanic should stay.
