A pain for normal people to run level 1s to that rich node without an escort, sure. Still worth doing. But for people who can teleport there instantly? An infinite make character->mine->delete->repeat cycle for endless ore.
Is this your story in terms of events?
- Bot makes character.
- Level 1 Bot somehow gets to a level 51 NPC, passing all of the mobs in the way without dying (which probably takes ages – try it).
- Level 1 Bot somehow completes the karma event (and others to get the necessary 602 karma) for a pick.
- Level 1 Bot gets past lots of Karkas on the Southshore.
- Level 1 Bot farms the rich node without being killed by the uber Karka.
- Bot mails Ori to alt and deletes character.
- goto 10
Lots of these seem;
- unfeasible
and, - time-inefficient.
sadly, yes, this is true. but i have no idea of how to fix current situation on legendarys other than remove them from the tp, and make precurser have a increased chanse of drop and make then acc bound… but that would prob kitten me off even further.
I think they should take legendaries out of the trading post…
Legendaries should be a reward for playing the game and not for making money.
The recipe should be more about stuff like the badges of honor, karma, the dungeon gift, the gift of mastery, the icy runestones etc…
And I dont understand why they didnt put any item in the recipe that requires Glory.
I concur with this opinion;
- There are many items which can’t be traded, why not legendaries?
- Legendaries should be changed from being market-oriented in their requirements to being task-oriented so that people can have fun instead of just being expert traders, third-party gold-buyers or gem purchasers – as it stands, legendaries are tarnished with a bad reputation.
- There are plenty of jumping puzzles and other achievements which could be made into a requirement instead of the tier 6 materials and ridiculously rare lodestones.
The legendaries are supposed to (sic) “show off your accomplishments and symbolise all of the things that you’ve been doing” (Lead Designer Isiah Cartwright – in this video) and “show everyone that you are a true master of Guild Wars 2” quoted from here. I think I speak for the entire community when I say that Legendaries fail to do both of these things and perhaps even suggest that their visual effects be changed to reflect the influence that the market has had in the acquisition of the legendaries, for example a trail of dollar bills or money that flutters out of the weapon on hit.
Here is a video which discusses the problem of legendaries being available on the trading post

I had fun tonight defending Hills multiple times against RoF. That could easily have gone either way, but I think (hope) it was our alertness to the potential threat of portals that kept us throwing all manner of AoE at the Lord’s room entrance long after most enemies seemed dead.
I quit WvW every time because of revives
… and I only play WvW because of revives. There! Some balance.
Double permanent ban for all gold buyers.
There is as much gambling in GW2 as there is in any stand-alone, coin-operated, arcade console; with the purchase price being valued against indefinite access to revives. Using that metaphor the only gambling is nudging towards TILT.
The economy of GW2 is no more complex than a pinball game with all the holes smaller than the ball and access to multiball.
I understand what you are saying and respectfully disagree.
Market manipulation/speculation is rife. The people engaged in it here will deny it, but I do it and I don’t have a clue how to make the big bucks.
2.) Gold sitting in your inventory is gold that is not working to increase it’s value.
Whilst I agree with this statement fundamentally, I have problems with it’s connotations. Combined with another market cliche: that constant effort is required to stay on top of the market, the connotation is that if you aren’t constantly working the market, then you are at fault and are not keeping up with inflation.
Legendary weapons should take a legendary effort to obtain. No more, no less.
Whilst I agree with this statement, the current “legendary effort” is put into marketeering, rather than deeds on the battlefield. This doesn’t seem particularly heroic, epic, or legendary.
You should loan it to me. I’ll invest it for you and I can guarantee a 20% return.
Over how long? What collateral have you got?
Great fun at Sunnyhill, NP. Thanks.
Erotic weapon..? That’s why they call it a Greatsword.
I disagree with this opinion. I think you should buy karma gear and stuff the market. As the real stocks markets are, it’s full of manipulators and speculators.
It could also be filled with people attempting to make profits from their crafting skills…
It could be, but it isn’t.
It’s all speculators and manipulators.
Let’s see you do CoF p1 alone
Some impressive firefighting by NP last night, well done to them. My backside still hurts.
Worst thread ever.

A mining pick usable on level 1s, that mines Orichalcum. Account bound. Bought with Karma.
A pain for normal people to run level 1s to that rich node without an escort, sure. Still worth doing. But for people who can teleport there instantly? An infinite make character->mine->delete->repeat cycle for endless ore.
Now for the golden question. Is this an exploit you’re going to ban people for, or should we start stocking up and escorting our friends to the node? To me, it seems like these being account bound is a major oversight. I’m posting here to either get this fixed, or be given the ‘OK’ to do it.
I doubt they’re putting more on the market than 50ish people doing this every day.

We seem to be doing well generally, but my group is getting it’s kitten handed to it left, right and centre at the moment.
Saying the numbers are about even is a complete joke
Like a joke with no punchline it does not exist! See? Literary magic!
The numbers are about even.
According to supply and demand, if nobody buys it, it will come down.
Supply and demand is a load of old codswallop. Have a nice day.
Massively are describing the supply and demand balance in the GW2 economy as, “an epic trainwreck” – whilst harsh, I tend to agree. I think that most market activity is speculation/manipulation.

Will there be another way to acquire 250 use salvage kits?
Also, I concur with previous posters in support of this character being used again.
This is an excellent original post and I believe it deserves a response from Anet for clarity’s sake. Without this clarity, their justice seems to be quite random, arbitrary and ruthless.
Holding liquid wealth in any economy is a mistake.
Wow….
Headline: “’Don’t Hold Gold’, States Arenanet Economist”.
Gambling would be fun for some people, but it has a lot of negatives to it, I think we’ll probably stay away from it.
The Mystic Forge is pure gambing, isn’t it?
It can be. Precursors, etc.
Just leveled a warrior and checked the prices for gear … wow!!!
Full set of berzerker exotic 18-20 gold! then there is the cost of runes/sigils etc…The gold sellers looking very tempting …
Believe it or not when people hit 80 for the first time back around launch we didn’t jump straight in to full exotics. It took a week or so to get it all together. There’s no good reason you should ding 80 and get to put on full exotics,
I disagree with this opinion. I think you should buy karma gear and stuff the market. As the real stocks markets are, it’s full of manipulators and speculators.
If you want to save gold getting berserker gear I’d recommend you run the Citadel of Flame dungeon path 1 and 2 once a day for a bit.
This is also fine advices right here.
Recommendation for WSR: Stop trebbing SM :P It forces us to attack you even we have no interest in it!
Yep, took a while to down the 4 on Overlook last night – got thru the outer wall. Well done, but WR wiped in the courtyard then got pushed back, and a few suicide-runs with the www.gunnars-hold.eu (join us, GHers) voice comms people later they were all deaded.
I think we need a little icon over the weapon slots that allows us to quickly equip (obeying all the current rules about “in combat”) any weapon in our bags.
What I want: Something with some actual passive defense would be lovely.
What I think we’ll get: Axeman/Berserker.
Please rework the way you see when using an arrow cart. Sometimes I place them and I can’t even see any enemies because the tower walls are in the way.
Perhaps allowing the camera to zoom out more would do the trick!
ok.. so they nerfed aoe so that we can only hit 5 people with an attack but i can get portal bombed by 20 people.. i think if aoe damage is limited to up to 5 players then portals should be the same..
Just a little thought to help you out
AC have a cap of 50 player cap
AC skill 2 Cripples
AC skill 3 BleedsSo think about your seige set up in a lords room
i was only talking about skill aoe and not seige.. but out of curiosity why did they cap aoe to 5 people?
Something about farming lootbags, I think. Meanwhile, back on topic…
This will give players a progression path where they earn new WvW-only abilities and bonuses
Oh dear.
It’s your fault for not putting down a wall and letting that mesmer in.
The invisible mesmer who can dodge over the wall? Wait a minute…
Everytime player asks “Mesmer in JP”, people in EB just wont be kind to him and i really want to kick that player away from the map.
This problem hurts the community in WvW. So there should be some changes about this issue
I think this says more about your server’s community than anything else.
Portal Bombs are causing issues with sides which are defending against larger numbers. We are finding that despite having a Lord’s Room full of siege, bottlenecking and good tactics, a simple portal bomb will completely bypass everything and give us no way to battle this larger force.
Despite the rhetoric to the contrary, I think the RoF zerg is bigger than anything GH is putting out there.
Waypoints are currently the most powerful upgrade in the game but there are a few issues.
They are only inactive when the defense quest is active, are you guys planning on disabling them slightly longer than the defense quest to allow attackers to keep the defenders from spawning there just as the defense quest lapses?
For example under the current system I can count down on voip the defense quest and spawn in everyone right as it hits zero and before attackers can reflag the keep.
This is definitely a bug. I’ll see about leaving the rally points disabled for a few extra seconds after the event has completed. That way it just stays disabled if the event starts back up.
I would be very careful with this, since it would be a dramatic change if this is “fixed.” I don’t know about other tiers, but in tier 1 waiting for the timer is basically the only way to get into most keeps, since they are perma-contested. If you change this, waypoints instantly become worthless, unless you also make it so that a single thief can’t simply tap a keep to make it contested forever.
That would be sad
Don’t do it! We like that! It rewards better cooperation!
Please dont do this, its already hard enough sometimes to defend keeps against huge zergs, if we cant even get our reinforcements in to help defend, than the waypoint might as well be removed entirely.
I wanted to add my weight to the “don’t fix this bug” brigade, but if it’ll be the same for everybody, then who cares?
Ultimately, though, it’s punishing defenders. But then defending was barely ever worthwhile.
I have the answers to a few of these questions as well!
Are projectile destroying skills actually intended to destroy siege projectiles? Or is this a case of creative use of game mechanics you guys didn’t quite expect.
Also what has been the most surprising placement you’ve seen for a treb that actually worked?
This is intended! We actually had issues in early testing because players were able to reflect trebuchet shots.
So can we expect projectile reflecting skills to work on siege projectiles (such as Wall of Reflection) and if not, why not? And can you fix the misleading tooltips, please?

It seems to be an intended method of playing, to be honest.
Please can we combine stacks of;
Mining Picks
Logging Axes
Harvesting Sickles?
So if I have a stack of 10 Logging Axes and another stack of 15 Logging Axes I want to put them together to make a single stack of 25 Logging Axes.
I ask because on my server we have long mining runs which take approximately 40 Mining Picks. This means that every third run I have to switch stacks (which is very dangerous in Orr).
I like how quickly everybody runs to rez the Icon commander. Must target that guy more often.
Thanks Mike. These details have been shared have been with our community.
Still no official word on this?
Binding Roots cannot be tab targeted. This makes it one of the most insanely powerful racials in the game and vastly out-does any of the others.
I just got back in. Maybe I was still logged in and had to wait for the auto-kick timer?
An interesting strategy that not many people think about is allowing the economy to inflate a bit, then pulling the money back out in a cycle ( many countries do this, but not on purpose :P )
I had a bug when I tried to switch to the Blue WvW map which boots players who are trying to join the map. We then have an issue trying to log back in.
It says, “Guild Wars 2 has encountered an error” and
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings etc”, but it’s clearly a problem at Arenanet’s end. It then says “There was an error logging in. Please try again” on the account details login page.
People in the game are seeing us go “online/offline” in rapid succession.
Easy counter for the massive burst. Just avoid it. Dodge it, use your stun breaker and get out of it. Why stand in the burst when you know it is coming?
Newsflash: You don’t know it’s coming.
Why should all thieves get punished for what a few thieves do.
See above.
As with mesmers, the gameplay of the thief is seemingly intended to take the opponent unawares and thus unable to use counter-powers to react to them. The intention of the thief seems to fundamentally be about playing single-sided combat.

I’m struggling with most mesmers, too.
One minute I’m doing okay, then I’ve lost nearly all of my health – are their powers ignoring toughness or are they supposed to hit for 15k+?
I was advised not to do anything when I had confusion stacked on me, so to test if it was this, I didn’t try to fight the next one I met and I still had the big ~15k HP drop mid-fight. Can shatter do this much?
