- should inflict weakness for 5s orso.
I agree with this. SO many times I trap someone in the ring and they beat the living crap out of me.
Just wanted to give people a quick heads up about this before prices rise on Monday.
Ladies and gentlemen.. “The Pump”.
when i feel chancy, i use the OTHER SIDE of the forge, instead of the side closest to the bank NPCs. i guess that is an adventure , too, because i explored the other side of the forge!
i am currently worried about being able to to the ARAH dungeons for the arah shards. i am working on getting badges, ectos, obsidian shards, and clovers. this “epic journey” advertised does not feel legendary, and neither are the “eppec trypz” to the forge or TP to pick up purchased items.
Path 3 it with pugs from www.GW2LFG.com – they tend to know what they’re doing.
Those who have gotten hold of plenty are controlling the market since the influx is not high enough.
There appears to be a difference of opinion in this forum. People are split into two camps.
- Camp #1, Capitalist Purists: The market is deciding the price of items and so therefore the prices are high due to there being low supply. This is fine because the market will decide the price for us.
- Camp #1, Skeptics: The market price is manipulated by manipulators/speculators whose interest is served in seeing the prices remain as high as possible.
Whether it works or not, I want to thank Habib and the team for their efforts.
The current culling situation (just picking arbitrary numbers here), allows say 50 models to load, be it either enemy or ally. The December system splits the cap to say 25 each side. For your standard zerg this is an improvement. They were previously using their 50 cap on themselves, so by cutting down the cap to only 25 of their allies, it allows at least 25 of the enemy to load to get a rough idea of position.
I wonder what happens at the 50 cap? Do we get with placeholders for every extra person over 50? That would make sense to me and would allay your concerns.
The OP is correct. T6 crafting materials and cores, lodestones instead of fragments and shards are what everybody wants.
But what about when people have their legendary weapons? Then what? It’s a carrot on a stick that most people are never supposed to get.

“Legendary Weapons are the end result of an epic adventure in Guild Wars 2. You’ll travel all over the trading post, collecting items and amassing money to buy your Legendary Weapon.”.
Fixt.
Good job getting out of that one dev, dig a deeper hole will ya.
It’s not wide, but it is goes all the way to the bottom!

They will just pass over the additional costs back to the buyers.
Only if the buyers are prepared to pay it. Buyer be-dumb-dumb.
I hope Arenanet do something about this because I want bots to go back to farming T6 mats instead of Orichalcum.
Well a couple very rich people apparently saw this thread and capitalized on it. In the last 48 hours every Lost Shores weapon skin has been bought out.
the risk with trying to speculate on items like this, you don’t know how many other people are holding onto them waiting for the price to rise…
These are a long-term investment for me and a hedge against mudflation. I want to thank whoever suggested it in this thread and also Arenanet Economist John Smith for this comment:
Holding liquid wealth in any economy is a mistake.
I can only hope that the upcoming patches don’t reintroduce these skins to the game.
There are spreadsheets that will tell you if it’s profitable.
God forbid legendary is hard to get
ANet should change how legendaries are acquired:
- Precursor even harder to get
- 500 clovers
- Glory rank 30
- 10k players killed in WvW
- 2000 tokens from every dungeon
Now that would be real legendary
As long as it’s not about buying stuff off a market, we’re in business.
If it remains the way it is, all your doing is keeping all the masses frustrated that cant get a item and sooner or later they will abandon the game, since nobody wants a second job just for a game.
TESO is taking beta sign-ups. They released a pretty cinematic. I think they will take a lot of people away from GW2, meaning that the market will have a huge shake-up when that happens. Be aware of which date it begins, consider what effects it might have (not easy, since both martketeers and adventurers will probably want to check it out. The only demographic that I can imagine will not be affected – with lower populations – would be bots. Thus there will probably be a greater supply on the market at that point and so the stuff for legendaries should go down in price. That’s my logic anyway).
When levelling, you want the Hammer of Wisdom skill and the Sword of Justice skill because they do damage that isn’t dependent on your crappy levelling gear.
Arenanet have stated that they will be bringing ALL of the underpowered skills up to the same as the best ones: Time Warp is unquestionably the best elite skill. I can’t wait until guardian has four Time Warp quality skills to choose between.
So vague is the teaser that we haven’t seen any of the usual pre-emptive market manipulation. Knowing that there are people with trembling fingers searching for the merest hint of news about new recipes makes me chuckle.
A fantasy game where the end goal is to end a dragon’s life should NOT emulate real life. People play games to enjoy a “seperate” life. If you want the life simulator, play the Sims, or games similar to that. It should never be a job or a chore to achieve anything in a video game.
While I agree with this sentiment, I believe that any game which has even a semblance of a “free” market will be manipulated by clever, ruthless mathematicians who don’t care how much you’re forced to pay for your goods.
Why does everything in this game have to be about gold? -.-
Go & play the kittening game.
I bet this issue divides the Arenanet staff, too.
Staff auto is already awesome.
Shield is fail. I’m expecting it to get buffed when the devs boost the crap powers/skills.
The best thing about being a Guardian is feeling powerful when our boons are active.
What?
If Smite were Chill, then I can see Sceptre/Torch possibly being viable.
Learn to react to an invis enemy within 1.5s… seems fair and balanced.
^in sPvP for that added balance.
(not my vid)
Thanks for this.
I think it’s the 15% fee that confuses me the most. Someone somewhere mentioned that you only need to make 5% to break even, but I’d like confirmation.
I do not put all my eggs in one basket.
I’m not a young man anymore, and I can tell you of my experience. In all aspects of life, those who are successful are simply lucky gamblers or people with the odds stacked in their favour (some may call these latter persons “nepotists”, but we won’t dwell on those in this post).
Those of self-made wealth invariably state the same thing; “I was in the right place at the right time”. It is all about luck and risk.
From my experiences I have concluded that if you aren’t willing to put all of your eggs in one basket, then you will not get-rich-quick. It is as simple as that.
More info required, but Arenanet will be hesitant to release it for fear of market manipulation.
Not bad, but how do you solve the problem of multiple thieves alternating in stealth even with the exhaustion?
Oh dear, I must say these news really made me sad.
NP are not only disciplined and coordinated force, but also bunch of really nice people I always liked to play with.
I hope you will eventually change your minds as it would be great loss for RoF.
If you decide to transfer, I wish you good luck finding new home
Screw NP, we want even more nice people like you on GH! Come over while it’s free!
I think you mean, “How can it be subjective?”
Wealth is used as an objective measure of wealth because a person’s wealth is a concrete number. Same thing goes for most ways to measure a person’s progress. Horizontal progression / cool-looking stuff measurement is subjective, and avoids the whole measuring-contest problem that a lot of players have. But currencies, weapon stats, etc are all objective ways to measure.
I believe this could be countered with;
- the claim that wealth is subjective because if it is mostly illiquid, as Arenanet Economist John Smith recommends, then it is subject to the whims and emotions of those who determine prices (i.e. the collective consciousness of the market).
- the claim that “cool-looking stuff” are not as subjective as you suggest because to a large degree their desirability is determined by how difficult they are to acquire: people desire things that are more difficult to acquire.
I have to echo what Phetid says. Please don’t go to NA. I want to meet you again, no matter what side of the battlefield you guys are on.
I agree. NP is a lot of fun.
JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE BOSS IN GW2. KITE KITE KITE KITE
I concur and I’d like to see Jon Peters’ comment on this.
- Run CoF path 1 for the next week at least once per day. The patch is in 5 days and we expect dungeons to be much more difficult after that (no rezzing, etc).
- Use http://gw2lfg.com/ to find a group. I recommend you put in the description that you are new to dungeons.
- I would recommend that your Thief start getting DPS gear (same stats as Berserker’s gear: Pow, Precision, Crit%, you can trade in CoF dungeon tokens for this set). Damage in dungeons is key, as several encounters are a race against time (graveling burrows in AC and the … other graveling burrows in AC come to mind: paths 1 and 3 – you might find those paths very hard until you have said gear).
- At the token vendor you will find that each set of gear has 3 alternative sets with the same graphics. I recommend not buying the rares, but click the next bag on the left and look at the pretty exotics. Don’t just buy the top ones, look at all 3 sets before deciding.

We’r brazilian by the way, I know there’s at least 15% of portuguese speakers in any MMO as long as they have PT-BR language as an option,
Brazil… lots of people who are coming into wealth, one of the famous BRICs that the vile investment bankers have been backing for such a long time, huge population. I’d be translating it right now, I think.
Also, Samba.
I don’t want Guild Wars 2 to sound like every other fantasy title out there with the standard British accents on every character. So aside from more British accents, what other types of voices would you like to hear?
As a British person, I can tell you that there are a LOT of accents in Britain itself. I wonder if by “standard” British accents you mean either of the ones Americans tend to know; kittenney (Dick van kitten in Mary Poppins), and Posh (the rest of the cast of Mary Poppins) (The filter is stopping my from naming the Dick van kitten accent, but it is a regional accent from London. Oh wow, I can’t even type his name. This censorship is insane). You could also try (and I know I’m lumping a lot of regional variations and/or dialects together here);
Welsh,
Scottish,
Northern Irish,
Geordie,
Scouse,
Northern English,
Midlands,
South-Western English.
By far and away the worst voice acting I have ever heard is Detha in AC saying, “but I have to build them myself”. A completely ridiculous emphasis on the word “build” makes this sound absolutely comical.

i realized that my account name suddenly changed from Braised Fart to Braid Strafe.
Braid Strafe is a pretty cool name.
Oh dear, I must say these news really made me sad.

Aww what a nice post 8::(
Is there any other humane way to get these badges for the Gift of Battle without having to go into the JP of EB that is being camped 24/7 by enemies?
Because i’ve been killing invaders all the time and all i get are those tiny loot bags with crap and no badges.
You can try one of the other 3 puzzles, maybe they are less camped?
I always got something akin to this in the Charr city (so I avoid it). If I change to another resolution or windowed mode it fixes it, so I think it’s some kind of driver problem that is fixed by a reload. Then I can go back to my usual resolution (windowed full-screen) and play normally.
I haven’t tried it in Queensdale, but have a go with the solution I’ve put above. I hope it works for you.
First, we must ask Arenanet what legendaries are for.
The legendaries are supposed to (sic);
- “show off your accomplishments and symbolise all of the things that you’ve been doing” (Lead Designer Isiah Cartwright – in this video) and,
- “show everyone that you are a true master of Guild Wars 2” (quoted from here).
I am not alone in my belief that they do not fulfil their remit and should be changed. So much so, that it they become gaming news:
Gamebreaker.tv: “Should legendaries be sellable on the trading post?”
What are the problems with legendaries?
- That they can be traded is the first problem. This situation is ridiculous and makes Isiah Cartwright look like a hypocrite.
- Many of the requirements of Legendaries involve buying gold from the “I LOVE YOU” 3rd party people, endless grinding, mastering manipulation and/or speculation of the market – as it stands, legendaries are tarnished with a bad reputation.
I believe there should be a multiple-pronged fix for legendaries to recover their function as an indicator of all the stuff you’ve been doing as a true master of GW2:
- No trading legendaries or gifts. At all. Ever.
- There are plenty of jumping puzzles and other achievements which could be made into a requirement instead of the gold-intensive materials which make the Legendary weapons more about gold than fun. i.e. the tier 6 materials and ridiculously rare lodestones).
- Continue with the plan to create a precursor treasure hunt. This seems to be a good idea.
- Other elements of the Legendary are difficult to acquire but not impossible. At the moment, 600gold+ is putting them out of reach of even determined and dedicated masters of GW2 (who haven’t mastered of the market).
(edited by Svarty.8019)
I remember that this has been requested by many players in many MMOs and each and every time it is a huge time, money and effort invested by the devs. Each and every time the novelty wears off after a very short time and it becomes a peripheral white elephant that took up valuable resources which should have been invested elsewhere.
Someone, or an organised group, was dumping ori by the thousands. Some 3 to 4k buy orders were filled in a matter of seconds. For about half an hour, all buy orders were filled within a 30 copper range, you couldn’t keep up the buy orders against the ppl dumping them in those buy orders.
That could be the Mining Run.
~50 people @ ~50 Ori each = ~2500. Was it approx midday PST?
A build with it’s own theme tune! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mBk-WJ31BE
In the recent livestream (http://dulfy.net/2013/01/17/gw2-dev-livestream-jan-17-transcript/), the devs noted that they will be toning down AOE damage in favor of single-target damage.
“Reducing AoE effectiveness to bring them in line with the single target damage skills.”
“Major update coming to all the AoE skills – make classes that are good at single target damage stand out a bit more.”
It’s quite hilarious that at a time when mesmers and thieves are dominant, the devs are boosting single target damage. #wrongtarget
I fear that Whiteside might suffer because of the end of free transfers. GH have been lucky in that we lost all our guys ages ago, suffered a massive pounding (pac-man was on the scoreboard all the time Wakawakawaka ), dropped down week after week (stick with me, it gets better) but never got depressed or upset even when in freefall (we had lots of time to grind dungeons for funky looking gear cough but I wasn’t doing that, I was boldly defending the borderlands, ofc cough). Now things are looking up and I think that from our perspective (at the moment) the free transfers can’t end soon enough.
I wish Whiteside all the best, and I think that they probably have a decent core of guys who will/have become what we did. A community forged through hardship.
Dear aNet fix ele focus. Some noobs want that i use focus like french and spam one skill whole day. We could call this game afk macro wars 2.
We;re all rolling level 5 eles to neutralise enemy trebs.
I’d prefer to send the projectile back to the treb with wall of reflection!
buy something to eat with your $100 or donate to the poor. not wasting it on GW2
Buy rice & pasta. The zombies are already here!
