So we know so far reveant will be getting a tether, and dragonhunter will have tethers. Even though this is kinda cool isn’t this going to make an insane amount of lag? Other classes I’m sure will also have a tether to most likely. World bosses and farming events with a million tethers out everywhere isn’t this going to look really weird and slow the game down a lot?
It is ground targeted with about
360240 radius. So you can heal an ally and damage/immobilize an opponent. Good gapcloser/support/peel ability 3in1.http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/657277834
8:25
22:10 (the adept trait)
EDIT: the radius is 240 in the tooltip.
Ok that looks nice then. Long cool down though. I do hope down the road we get another heal though for sure
Maybe whoever shoots 2nd gets priority? My best guess at least
Wings of resolve – we will be able to trait it to do damage. I don’t know if that means damage and heal but regardless….
If we have our bow out, use wings of resolve to jump to target, deal damage, drop our heal which also does blind we can easily have time then to dodge role back or get out of range. If this trait is hopefully a minor trait this will actually make our heal pretty cool I think.
But any ideas how this will work on world bosses?
Hammer/LB , gs/lb meta inc. Personally 2 traps are good (aoe vuln and whirl thingy). Elite is also good.
LB autoattack is okish.
2# is good but need to stay in 1 place.
3# is ok, blind plus block.
4# is good symbol dmg.
5# is Good too but too long CD (they could decrease cd but nerf it a little – it is the longest cd out there on weapons)heal skill is useless. (block is better but wait and see for the beta)
Agreed for most part lol. I dunno how the heck this heal is going to work for pve at all.
How am I going to heal during any champion at range?
Did anyone get the 3rd longbow skill so I can add to op?
Not sure how I missed it
After watching the stream i love the changes and cant wait to play him BUT i still think the name is out of place and that traps should be renamed to wards or something like that to fit the Guardian theme.
After seeing the “traps” I think they are only called traps so they won’t need to make there own runes. Was just a symbol on the ground. Looked like necromancer staff skills
Where the people complaining now? LOL
The class does for sure look cool, I just think people like myself in open world pve may not enjoy the traps other then that though the lb looks to be a solid weapon. Plus the knock backs and new f1 and f2 skills though will work nice paired with lb.
The trap combos you can do is pretty amazing. The condi damage makes me excited to try it.
Truthfully a condition dragonhunter with traps in pvp……I wouldn’t go near the point they control
are you kidding me? the auto attack is 1200 range and does 1.6k on heavy and 1.8k on medium
I was seeing 1200 crits? And only 400 to 600 max on non crits?
Ok so it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes the name still makes no sense….but anyways.
Longbow skills.
I personally think the auto attack needs a buff, looked much weaker then a ranger and without the pet tanking we need a little more damage even though the arrow can pierce one enemy behind.
2 skill looked pretty nice. Good damage. Aoe power shot I can live with.
3 skill shoots an arrow that blocks projectiles and causes blind. Still have our blind which is nice!
4 skill the ground targeting trap? Gives allies vigor and burns foes. I think this will be sort of useless with the new f1 skill, really just gives allies vigor.
The 5 skill. As shown in the preview a barrage that locks up to 5 people in a fence. Looks great but video showed a 60 second cooldown. If that’s the case way to long.
Overall I did like the longbow but I ton it needs some tweaking. Coming from being an open world pver I have nothing good to say about the heal, or the traps, or elite skill.
Heal will be useless unless approaching bosses in melee and dropping it down other traps did nice aoe damage, fast cast times, great stacks of bleeds and vunurability. However will be awful in pve. Amazing in wvw though I think.
What’s your thoughts on what you saw?
(edited by Sylent.3165)
As I play open world pve this class looks terrible for that. I think there damage out put is going to be pathetic. Traps no matter what kind are useless in boss fights. I really hope the video today will make the class look better then the description.
Mainly I think pve players are upset as we would really just get weaker it appears. We’ll find out today though. Keeping my fingers crossed
Well they may not act exactly like traps I hope. But they would keep them marked as traps simply because there are runes for traps, otherwise they would need to make new sets of runes specifically for the dragonhunter
Well guardian will be the dragonhunter, warriors may be the dragondestroyer, while the reveant is the dragonbanisher, and yea…….creative names!
Been away from guardian for some time now. What’s considered the better choice now for leveling? My last guardian did sword/torch to level and I’m curious if that’s still effective or is the greatsword going to be better? I know it’s mostly a pick your own preference but I’m curious which will give me the better dps?
They are giving an expansion and excited to give the first reveal of the dragonhunter all excited to see our replies yet the forums exploded with negative comments. I’m curious are they sitting in the office just going awwww man!
Truthfully though what they showed was not impressive at all, but might be more.
If these traps are worthwhile and like necromancer staff aoe they might be cool, if auto attack isn’t super slow and deals good damage alright. The virtues sound really great though right now about it. Let’s just hope tomorrow to be surprised!!!!
But dragonhunter? EVERY class is already a dragon hunter. No idea how archangel or paragon were not picked. Odd generic name. But let’s hope our dps can really kill a dragon actually
Traps are a huge let down. If I wanted traps I’d play ranger. The virtues kinda excite new that’s about it. I think I’ll be playing just melee dragonhunter.
They really turned us what sounds like into a ranger with lower dps. Killed my hype for sure. But we’ll find out tomorrow
“How terrible” You’re basing this off the idea that it’s a trap alone, you have no idea how the trap will function at all.
Well as its a trap it will function like a trap. I don’t recall reading anything saying when a specialization uses a trap it will be completely different then other traps. This isn’t a trap type class, no one wanted traps on guardian and no one uses traps on thieves or rangers. Or very rarely. I focus on pve so this is a disappointment for me.
A heal trap? How terrible. And other traps? Really? We are heavy armor class. Besides our auto attack with bow toys class just killed my hype.
Was really looking forward to a paragon type class. Our f skills sound cool that’s about all. Guess a melee dragonhunter can be pretty good still.
As much as I love mace shield it just isn’t good. The focus is better with the blinds and the blocks by a long shot.
So I’m in a pickle here trying to get some opinions.
In gw1 I mained paragon and was by far my favorite class by a long shot. With guardian getting long bow I have a feeling they are going to play a lot like paragon. I was going to make a new guardian with the same name I kept reserved which was my gw1 char “once a legend” then I got hyped kinda getting a paragon like class again using my old name
Then it hit me hard. Should I just reserve this name til the reveant comes out? I mean they are taking forms of past legends and heroes so that name would fit so perfect. But I fear I might end up not liking the class. Those name change contracts aren’t cheap either.
Other name option I had for my guardian is drakonim which is Hebrew for dragons. Should I name my guardian drakonim you think and save the other or just my name for the paragon type class like gw1?
I know silly discussion but I can’t decide and hope maybe something someone says can help me decide
So I Might be making myself a new guardian seeing new weapon might be long bow. Miss my paragon so much and this might feel similar. However I was curious about something with guardian before I start leveling. How does support work with events? Say I’m doing world bosses running running around healing and buffing allows and just doing my staff auto attacks. Will I still get gold for just doing support? I’ve always gone full dps zerker like most people but to me it kills this great game. So will just running around doing support get gold and even be worth while help?
I am really looking for some tips for a recommendation for my next class. I’ll explain what I do and maybe get so d good ideas.
I am strictly a solo pve player, map completion, world boys farming, and dry top and silver wastes farming. I sometimes do pvp not to often though.
Warrior – after 80 lost all intrest very boring class for me.
Guardian – was fun, but with range of just staff and scepter made world bosses not to to fun.
Ranger – really did enough with my ranger.
Elementalist – played til about 35, truthfully think I just sucked with the class I was dying non stop not sure how much better the class gets with survivability at 80?
Necromancer – I just felt kinda useless all around
Mesmer – kind of the same as elementalist
Thief – world bosses really only viable thing was the dual pistols. Not really thiefy
Engineer – like the clkittene the hobo sacks. Wasn’t exactly my playstyle.
So yes I’m extremely picky. Besides warrior and ranger I was curious what what be a good class for what I’m mostly doing all the time? I know every class can do pve fine but I’m looking for opinions on why you play the class you do for these things. If I didn’t die so much with my elementalist I think that would be my pick but do they get sturdy later?
One of the major rivals for this game is ff14 which has a very nice new release coming out in June for there expansion. With this news being out they should be giving us some kind of time frame. Even if it’s as simple as gal of 2015. With them taking longer and longer to deliver really any news I fear it might not be til 2016. But o would really like to think august 28th. But come on anet give us an estimate please
I will admit I played eso myself. The thing about eso was it could of been so amazing.
Skills…..ok I LOVED that as you use skills you can morph them. Gave each skill it’s own uniqueness. Unlike gw2 your 2 skills always your 2 skill. I also really enjoyed the fact that I could pick my own 5 skills.
Champion system……they are removing vet levels and focusing just on champion system. I love this. Once you hit max level it actually does give you something to do in the game, yes these points give you very small advantages but still give you the feeling of leveling and playing towards something which I think gw2 failed in.
Other then that though the games kinda a flop. Even gw2 has a better crafting system I think even though many may disagree with that. But gw2 should of had a similar feel I think with the skills or similar to gw1 at least, and the game still does have 0 end game
Once the specizalations come out I understand traits will change, some added some removed and same with utility skills. What I really want is to play my thief the same way, but with a rifle. I love my thief as is but want rifle for world bosses and fear I’m not going to be able to play my d/p thief the same. I do understand yes I can switch back to thief over and over again but just the thought of still wanting to have the specizalation. Think this will be an issue?
I found pistol/dagger thief with short bow very easy.
Most fights auto attack chain, black powder, auto attack chain, hit 2, your in stealth for backstabs then repeat. I found this to be a fun combo to do that is simple. Skip the first auto attack chain and drop a black powder first if needed. Your 3 skill works great for mobility and 1v1 fights. Around level 40 or 50 zones though trash mobs with knock downs get a little tough though if not blinded at the right moment. Overall though thief was easy to level. Easier then ele or engi for sure.
How do fast paced and great views go together its either
fast paced see nothing
Slow paced great views
Ever play far cry? It was much much faster then running and provided a great view. Gw2 it looked very slow paced and you could see the same view without even gliding
We only saw a sliver of the beginning of one zone, where vines have disrupted things terribly. In the trailers there seems to be plenty of bridges, meadows, hills, and other things to just run on. To me the gliders and mushrooms appear supplemental, not the required only transit methods.
Thats what worries me to. We have a hang gliding mastery which makes me think leveling will be required to get to many new places. Leveling hang gliding does not sound fun just to get places
I feel like the game needs new actual content. Don’t get me wrong I’m still plenty excited for the new story and class and zones and specilizations for sure but feels like this game (and other mmos) are just asking things to add them to make it seem like more content.
Hang gliding – sure it may be fun for a bit. But you know what worked well in the past? Just running. I think it’s going to be very annoying after a while just hang gliding down levels slowly every time I want to go down. Then once im where I need to be and I want to go back up? I need to waste money on a teleport to wp? Or use mushrooms?
Mushrooms – same as above may be fun for a bit but I’d rather just run.
I understand most players including myself want “new” things but these feel just so unneeded. I mean do we really need these hang gliders or could development time go to adding another class?
I’m not trying to bash on hot I am really excited to get the game for sure but these to me are actually major turn offs because they already have a simple running method they works fine and seem to be trying to just make it more complicated to get around.
I’m just curious do other players really look forward to having to hang glide around all the time? From the video it isn’t what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a bit more fast paced with great views.
On my warrior I always prefer axe mace
Guardian I found gs boring I think my sword focus works much better in pve at least
Mesmer don’t play
Ranger rarely use gs sometimes just in wvw.
Gs is extremely over rated I think.
Gliders just a worse version of flying mount
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Sylent.3165
Like in dry top they added those spheres to jump high, dash fast, and do massive leaps. They are all limited as well and serve to get from point a to point b a new way. Gliders will have a similar feel I would imagine but while flying. I don’t see skins necessary as I truly don’t think it’s for anything but smaller 30 second flights and your not always going to see more then a couple people in the air at a time
Which of these gets me the caprace armor (I know I spelled that wrong) the chests?
So I know dry top is do events for geodes. Spend those on items and in sand storms get buried chests if needed.
Was curious what to expect when I go to silverwastes next week and the main thing there
Hold alt and left click the skill. I think that’s what your referring to?
The playerbase will simply be divided and it will be harer to find people for a specific dungeon scaling. This will bring back the issue that we got rid off with holy trinity: takes long time to find groups.
There is no big problem with the current system, so it will be a waste of creating a new one that has its’ own share of issues. Not to mention the fact that Anet has been promising players to offer them an experience that is more focused on grouping rather than playing solo.
Scaling instance content will give one more reason to people to not play with eachother. This is not the direction an MMORPG should take.
You really think players are going to go for a third of the rewards each day? Okay lol.
Very much so yes. As I play mostly ranger getting into a party can be hard, usually end up not doing any at all anymore because of that.
So if I could solo I’d much rather get 1/3 of a reward over nothing at all. Plus I could play how I want to. Wouldn’t be forced to play spotter and frost spirit or get kicked
I’ve always thought dungeons should scale. A lot of us don’t want to deal with the zerker meta builds and actually have fun in dungeons. This should of been like this from the start. It’s fine if you want to reduce our rewards to still make group content needed but it should be our choice how we do it
Truthfully I never had an issue with my sword. I think this is because I use dagger.
Every fight hit 5. Get close to enemy hit 3. Pet takes aggro I’m positioned behind enemy which is great with the trait that increases damage attacking in back. Then I have 4 as a great evade, and 2 to quickly get out of aoe and back in fight. I’ve never turned the auto attack off actually. Give dagger a try it’s really fun.
Only thing I can think of is maybe black desert and everquest next. Other then those 2 I don’t see any exciting mmorpg games coming.
So…you guys want an MMO you can play forever, without a grind (time-sink) of any kind?
Methinks you will be waiting for a very long time.
Without a mandatory grind yes.
We don’t have to wait, we have been playing that game for years now, Guild Wars 2.
You grind for skins not for stats. Yes there is ascended but that only has a 5% stat increase so I can easily ignore that and just roll with Exotic, hell, you can even complete all the content on this game with Rare stats. As for these infusions, we don’t even know what they are yet. Let’s wait and see first.
Who said it’s mandatory? Is a legendary and full ascended mandatory?
This game does need a time seek. They add new armor skins rarely. It’s an mmo, there will always be time sinks other wise a huge majority of the players wouldn’t still play with nothing to do
Good. Now there is at least a reason to keep playing to upgrade. A small very noticeable gear treadmill every 2 years won’t hurt anyone.
I also read they are adding legendary rings to, so that’s something else I look forward to
Let it rot, the other cities are finally populated.
I’ll donate for the demolision of the remains of LA.
Whaaaaat no don’t destroy LA I like it there
LA being repaired is going to be a big event, rather than something Anet just lets happen on the side. My current guess is that it’ll happen in some sort of festival event between now and when HoT comes out. Perhaps the return of Dragon Bash.
Thats also something i hope to happen for the time between now an HoT ^^
Would be nice before hot comes out. I miss the city looking nice and clean
We already donated to restoring to repair LA, There was a queens pavalion event to raise money for the repairs several months ago (may 20, 2014 event) unless my memory fails me.
Just the contracters who are lazy and slow
I was taking a break then and missed that. LAST MAY??? How on earth is it taking them this long. Servers always up and they work 24/7 and still haven’t made progress. Must be using plastic tools
Ok here me out. People already buy gems for items or for gold. So I suggest anet does a special with the gems. Maybe 10% off all gem purchases.
During this time we also have a goal to meet. Say once 100,000 gems or some other number are purchased they can work on restoring lions arch.
The thing is we the players are all a part of tyria, so wouldn’t it make sense that we all contribute to restoring lions arch? This may also bring in some extra money for anet and also make players feel like they are truly making a change in the game.
Please keep in mind your just buying gems like normal but you still keep them, the actual gems aren’t being donated.
Thoughts?
I think it will be set up like ele but instead of changing weapon skills will change utility skills. Because of this I thing each god they summon will give less utility skills per god. But overall still as many as every other class.
I except maybe 3 new zones, each about the size of queensdale maybe smaller
With how much I hate underwater combat I can only imagine air combat would really hurt this game as I’m sure it would be some what similar. I really hope they don’t add it
This thread made me realise… I never once saw a call or need for a tank in GW1. Ever.
Healers, yes. Batteries, yes. Various things were sought after… but I never saw a call for a tank and never needed to run with one. How odd.
Exactly! You didn’t need a tank. But you could still tank in a sense with skill combos. It’s just the fact in gw1 you still had the options you just don’t have in gw2.
Well you do have a choice in gw2 but it’s generally frowned upon.
