i have 355 hps with my guardian, it would be kinda silly to have the full spec just at the beggining of the expansion, i’m assuming it will be 400 or probably 300

Your saying it would be silly to enjoy the new content while playing with new content?

I think they learned from hot it was extremely silly to have to play all the new content before you could even enjoy your elite and then have to do it all again to play it.

It’s basically saying it’s silly to get mounts until you finish the story.

So I just discovered from a friend they can’t access any of the ls3 maps because they don’t have the chapters unlocked???

It makes 0 sense to block each map behind a paywall for new or returning players. I 100% Understand blocking the actual story behind the wall but if I was a returning player to a buy to play game and found out hot which I purchased didn’t give me the new maps I most likely wouldn’t buy them but I’d be more inclined if I enjoyed the maps and wanted to know the story there.

But seriously it’s like making dry top and Silverwastes cost money if you didn’t log in during the time.

I’m sorry anet but that’s really messed up actually in my opinion.

Who knows though maybe my friend just can’t figure out how to get to the map and is wrong but if not I’m a sad player you’d do this

Think on the bright side, we finally get to do a regular amount of damage with scourge so every single pvp player will complain that they died to us and we get a nerf to lose that damage and then have no survivability !!

Next expansion we get capes and mastries tied to the capes to do cool abilities such as shielding attacks and hits from behind do less damage?

They said for soulbeast they didn’t have the tech to make it until now. By next expansion they may finally have capes if they have the tech and could make them not only look great but a function to the game

If it’s that axe is bad actually it’s fine, I personally prefer to use with shield and dagger will be nice

If your complaining it’s strong it’s damage is right where it should be in my opinion

I need some help enjoying the game and am kinda looking for a suggestion on a map to make money.

Firstly I want to say I LOVED the Silverwastes. However recently at times I’m having a hard time finding a map that’s active in lfg.

Why I liked SW so much is because it was player driven not on a timer.
It was easy to understand the objective
The loot was wonderful and provided a very nice income
The simplicity of defend a base, kill champion, get into a lane and kill other champion and get nice loot at the end
It didn’t take a huge huge amount of time say like dragons stand taking over an hour plus being on a timer.

I do not know a huge amount of the new maps in all honestly from the living story and I was curious if there is something kinda similar to the SW where I could just kinda jump in and play a big meta over and over making some nice gold?

Please keep in mind I can not tolerate the first 4 maps in hot that are all layered in the jungle. Just curious what may be a good map to activity start playing? Any suggestions would be amazing!

Power scourge

With dagger already being the highest dps weapon necro has plus all the f skills doing damage based off power and the easy life force regen they have I actually enjoyed my power scourge a little more over the condition scourge.

Truth is people like them and buy them so they will keep with this theme.

I am personally tried of seeing so much flash in this game and have always been kinda ticked that we have no options for flashy effects such as only show own, or show own plus party.

Who do you think is going to be the best new solo elite champ for open world farming, events and champions.

Ranger takes a massive massive nerf with soulbeast against champions (of course they can split from the pet but what’s even the point of soul beast then?) I think they will do pretty well in any events overall still.

Scourge is losing that second life bar for desert shroud with shield that degenerate way to extremely fast. I think they are going to do great overall in events and good against champions if they know the fight well enough and know exactly when to pop shields.

Spellbreaker I feel is losing way too much survivability to gain less damage (as little sense as that makes anet???) By removing the level 3 adrenaline bursts the poor damage from daggers and only a very small heal of 7% from critical strikes I felt core warrior is better overall in most pve encounters.

Please keep in mind I’m speaking strictly open world PvE not pvp and raids.

These were the only three classes I personally was focused on with my play time so others may be much better then these three. I personally am thinking scourge will be the best in open world PvE.

I haven’t done any support in a long time but looking at firebrand I may want to start again. I remember in events you you would get bronze if you didn’t do damage and tried to help out your team. Just curious if that’s something that’s got changed?

Why are melee players punished?

In most games if you go melee you usually get some form of reward for doing so such as higher defense or higher armor and defenses that truly shine in melee.

In gw2 now many fights can not do melee due to massive aoes around bosses and champs, they are severely hurt with draining endurance much faster, they do less damage because they are more involved in dodging things right in their faces, and worst of all any condition ranged build is going to be doing more damage then you while they survive better as they can see things coming at them easier.

I enjoy melee in games but anymore I feel like going melee is so useless on so many classes. I’m not saying buff all melee weapons but maybe things like while holding melee weapons your endurance charges faster and you have x amount of chance to block attacks or something.

I know it sounds like I’m complaining which I’m trying not to do but any time I go melee I just feel I do so much better in every single way which I don’t think is right

To the op I agree

Silverwastes I thought wss by far the greatest map in this game. The goal was very clear and made sense. I loved defending blue base and loved knowing each time I did it greatly helped the meta. Then fighting all the bosses with team work at the bases and going to other bases if needed was great.

Then we got to pick lanes and fight through while others faced bosses and then your lane was up was great.

After that the rewards felt great and the skins you got from the map are awesome and the rewards felt nice and while waiting for the meta to start again there was the pac man event going on for more loot.

I truly wish the new maps were more like this and player driven over these horrible timers that are all over now. I miss the Silverwastes alot and want more maps like this.

I'm kinda disappointed in you anet....

When we had the beta weekend to test the new elite specs and a massive amount of people were killing dummies non stop I was really wanting to see some stats come out of the total light, medium, heavy and invincible golmems killed.

That would have been really cool if some stats came out after to show the damage we did :p

So I hated hated hot. The maps, the constant mobs all around that really really annoyed me, and the story I thought was just meh. Then we went to the fire islands which I thought was equally as annoying.

I’m really wanting to like the me expansion so I came back last week to finally finish the season and omg did they make a massive massive improvement to the maps.

When I got into lake dorin and sirens landing I really had a fun time with those maps overall. I really found nothing over tuned except one monster in the balthazar area in sirens watch, the maps felt so opened and not multilayered and I got around without any issues. I really really wish the hot maps could of been like this from the start and I am now having really high hopes for pof

Daily lag every evening

I have played this game just fine from the day it came out up until the first beta for pof started.

Around 7 pm est time every single day I start lagging like crazy on this game only getting anywhere between 1 to 10 second delays about every minute or so. This usually gets better after 10 pm est.

Has anyone else been experiencing this at all?
Any suggestions how to fix it?

I’d much rather have a greatsword or something as i feel it suits the necro a lot more than it does a mesmer. I could see greatsword adding some much needed burst damage for necro and incorporating some “reaper” themed abilities or something.

I can’t imagine how a pistol would be used on necro.

I have the two names of “droid” and “white dragon”

I took a years break before and if I came back having to rename my characters I would of just quit.

A lot of the cool names were given to people who bought the game before release and clicked log in every second for an hour before release to get these names. How would it be ok to take those away even if they never use them? They bought them and did what was needed to get them

Actually the scourge is fine.

It’s the necro traits making scourge fine. I don’t think scourge needs a nerf at all but maybe dhummfire (if I spelled that right) needs a rework with how it works.

I’m a PvE player myself so can’t say much about PvP…..but generally if you stand in a big red circle and don’t leave shouldn’t you kinda deserve to die?

It would be kind of nice to know beforehand if they will also cost 250 hero points. Or are they going to make hero points 25 points each in the new maps and cost 500 hp?

For a person who likes to explore the new content with a new elite it would be nice to know beforehand to somewhat prepare if needed.

So I wanted to post a very short summary of the classes I played to kinda give an overall feeling. Just putting in order of which I played first.

Spellbreaker
I felt that it’s heavily deigned to be a power spec however brings no power. I felt a core warrior could do just about everything better while having much higher sustain. I think dagger needs a small buff and level 3 bursts should be back.

Soulbeast
When merged with pets certain ones really need to give you higher stats. My black bear for example that can tank champions like a pro when merged with me overall let’s me maybe survive an extra half to maybe one hit? Dagger may need a little bit of a buff to.

Scourge
Overall pretty fun. Shields are an issue though as they degenerate so extremely fast and are capped. I say keep the cap and have them degenerate outside of combat.

Firebrand
One class I really expected to hate but overall ended up loving. I think the cast time is a bit too heavy though on just about everything that was added.

Mirage
I seriously have no idea the purpose or what I should be doing??

Deadeye
Overall fun class but killing players in one shot? No matter how you view it that should never be done in a game.

Holosmith
Surprised me a lot. The damage is overtuned just a bit I think and the heat cooldown outside of combat I think should drop a bit faster.

Just a couple things I wanted to say overall for the ones I played. Agree or disagree up to you but as it’s a beta test wanted to share my thoughts.

I saw numerous people today in game scourge is op and I have to ask how can anyone possibly say that?

Sand shades replace shroud giving us about 18k less health in a way.

All the shroud f skills actually do a lot less overall damage then the reaper skills. Which while in shroud we protected our health and could even heal health.

We only have 4 f skills not 5 like when we are in shroud.

Barriers…..they would actually I think work out ok only if they left the cap, and let them only degenerate out of combat.

Our main hand weapon for this class is a dagger which isn’t as great going condition for any real damage.

In short as much fun as I truly find this class to play I personally feel it actually needs some overall buffs.

Scourge power vs condition

I have to say I tested them both out and I can’t tell which is overall better.

Going power you have the nice damage going off with dagger auto building your life force fast and its easy to spam all of your shade abilities as soon as they are off cooldown

But going with condition Parasitic Contagion healing 10% condition feels oh so nice as the barriers aren’t very helpful and degrade so so fast.

What have you been liking so far?

My only real complaint is how quickly the barriers degenerate.

If fine with degeneration, but they feel like they are gone in a split second!

They should last for about 10 seconds before they start to degenerate, and the degeneration should be about 33% slower than it is at the moment. I’d be fine if this effect was only for the Necromancer who casts them.

Or as they are capped degenerate out of combat wouldn’t be bad either

As we pretty much lost Adrenal Health trait with only one bar the heal from sun and moon should be better. Necro can heal a full 10% off condition damage while thief can heal 10% on critical.

3% would make no difference really but the fact that each of them also deal more damage in my opinion makes them much better self heals.

I found a power spellbreaker to really be lacking in too many terms from what you gain. I’ll be sticking with core warrior I think.

Two major things for a warrior type class and spellbreaker is really lacking both. Pve wise I do not think a lot of people will pick this elite in it’s current state

I like scourge so far because it adds a different playstyle to necro. Offensive skills are way to strong when you go for condi fire burn scourge. Defensive options and barriers are weak compared to that. There should be a clear split between pvp and pve or offensive options need to get tuned down (not only for scourge).
I hope power reaper stays viable in pvp. The few elite specs (ele, eng, necro), weapons and new traits I tested look all strong for offense but weak in defense.

Even though it’s a very huge huge new style it’s a lot of fun which surprised me.

Sadly though I have a feeling for PvE it will be nerfed to nothing at all because the pvp players will have complaints even though as the class stands now PvE wise it’s a good class

But it has some issues.

I found using greater shade to be far to superior because using 3 small ones while on the go often you will find yourself shadeless due to cooldown. The greater shade is nice because of this but I feel locked into using it.

The shields are amazing but degenerate way to fast. When used on yourself the caster I do not think they should degenerate to make up for the loss of shroud however should not stack of course with the cap set to your highest shield.

The dps I was doing felt very nice and in a very good level. As I felt my dps was fair compared to other class classes I strongly expect a massive massive nerf to dps coming soon because we aren’t allowed as necromancers to do nice dps

The elite felt very lackluster white the heal feels pretty nice except again how fast shield degenerates.

I was using dagger with torch and can say I had the most fun on this elite out of those I played which worries me of massive nerfs. Anytime I enjoy a class they get nerfed when it’s usually not needed only pvp players complaining.

I’m honestly kinda surprised with the lore making paragons turn spears turn into daggers and then dropping onto a warrior elite spec.

I was a massive paragon main in gw1 and when I first heard about elite specizalations from hot I was thinking paragon was sue to be Guardian spec.

Anyone else really feel guardian should of gotten a real paragon spec over warrior?

I’m east coast myself and the lags been hitting around 7 pm pretty hard with about 3-4 second delays hitting pretty often with moving and skill use. It’s been pretty terrible i must admit.

My main by a long shot in gw1 was the paragon. Sure I was hoping for a spear shield guardian build….but based around the lore and them now using daggers it fits the warrior pretty darn good.

Looking over the skills and traits this seems like it will be a lot of fun even though I was never a warrior fan before.

Adventures were not the problem. Some are kinda fun and it’s something else to do in game.

The problem is locking mastries behind them with time limits tanking all the fun out of them and making it very frustrating to do.

I didn’t go into the new map because I’m behind in the story and don’t want any spoilers at all about the story so I thought I’d come on here and ask.

The only two new elite specs I planned on playing are very heavy melee focused. I was just curious with what was seen is this more melee friendly then HoT? I found hot extremely brutal going melee and had to range alot which I really do not enjoy and with the new elite specs I want being melee kinda worries me.

From your experience so far did you find any severe issues with melee or has it been very doable so far?

I’m curious about how many “ways” you think that they can make available to obtain things so you and everyone else can “play the way you want”?

There has to be limits in ways of obtaining anything. For every person in game, each one will want to play a little differently. I don’t see a way they could accommodate everyone.

They could have had Masteries mimic the level-up experience in expansions. That way, no points would be needed. I’d have preferred this. They could also have tied where you gain XP to specific lines. Want Itzel, gain XP in VB. Want Nuhoch, gain XP in TD. Want Exalted, gain XP in AB. I’d have been happy with much more XP needed, too, as long as I didn’t have to jump through hoops that hold little interest for me.

Kinda hit the nail on the head.

Playing the game should grant mastery points to advance similar to xp. Xp is still a useless aspect of this game as I’ve gotten enough xp to level mastries to max level but my xp is a useless amount as I’m forced to do things that aren’t enjoyable by forcing enjoyable things in the game with requirements.

Like I said I love the story maps and the mini games but hate that doing them isn’t enough unless I play by anets rules while doing them making them not enjoyable anymore

What happened to this???

I am very far behind in this game because the mastery system. I really have a hard time getting mastery points to level anything and my exp bar is always full.

You have to do these silly mini games which is ok…but you HAVE to complete in x amount of time.

You need to do story missions which is fine as I enjoy them, but you HAVE to do it by anets rules and do all the achievements to get the mastery points. This makes the story quests extremely annoying and not fun at all.

I want to unlock mastery points by playing and advancing in the game not by you have to play this part of the game this way only

For me I’m really really hoping I can mend with a bear and make a very viable sword and axe combo that’s pretty tanky. Not to excited for dagger as condition with axe and torch was sufficient enough for condition.

Truth is in zergs it’s already hard to see. But with tons of mounts out everything is just going to be one massive massive blur. Knowing anet as well we will get flashy mounts in the gem store. The game will become extremely unplayable as you will not be able to see.

Even going to a banker or merchant in busy areas you will not be able to see anything.

I am personally a big mount fan but the crazy amount on screen is going to be insane.

1. Dungeons aren’t worth it. Really no point other then getting skins and the gold rewards really bad and you can make more doing other things.

2. Group content. Due to the fact you need a group to do many of them it’s hard too get a group together all willing to do it for such a small reward.

3. Why? Why bother with dungeons when we have raids!!*

I remember doing dungeons near release and they were truly a blast. I truly feel the rewards from dungeons are lackluster.

What I want is solo dungeons really badly that then scale with the amount of people in them with rewards that will keep people doing them. I would much much rather do small dungeons with 5 people in them working together over zergs in open world PvE but the devs just killed off dungeons

So we all know right now the best soloers are druid and reaper. However with the new elite specs coming we have scourge losing shroud and soul beast losing pet (not losing pet but I’m sure the benefits of not having a pet out are better then having it out otherwise making the spec not great with them out?)

So with the coming expansion who do you think will now be the top of the solo chain?

I personally think the new guardian elite looks strong and the new warrior spec could be very strong depending on the blocks.

So who do you think it will be as the best?

Right now we have gliders as our hot transportation. The default glider is kinda ugly so they add gem store items so you buy a new glider you really enjoy.

But….now we have multiple mounts coming. Instead of one glider we have 4 mounts*

Does this mean……oh no….just thinking about it….I’m gonna need to buy so many mounts so they all look cool!! Bye bye money

In all seriousness I know anet needs to make money as it’s a company and skins aren’t ever needed in this game….but they often know how to make it oh so tempting!

So we now get to merge with pets and be petless finally yay!!! For some battles at least.

How do you all think this is going to work?

Will bears increase our vitality and toughness making us much more tanky? Then add a f2 skill to use the pets skill ourself?

Will the panther greatly increase our dps?

Or do you think we are just going to gain certain new f skills while attuned to our pets?

Will we only be merged for x amount of time or can we can stay stay merged as long as we please?

How do all of you think this is going to work?

How to unlock new elite specs???

Does anyone have this information anywhere? I was curious what the requirements will be to unlock these new elite specs.

Major questions that come to mind.

Will the previous elite specizalations be required to unlock the newer ones? The same way you must have everything else unlocked before getting current ones

Will they be cheaper to unlock if we have the other one unlocked? Getting the new elite specizalation will be extremely easy between hot hero points plus the new ones that are being added if you don’t have a current elite specizalation while people who currently have a specizalation will need to work harder now to get these.

What about wvw tomes? Will these be the same ones to unlock the new elites or when the expansion comes out will we be getting an entire new set of tomes?

I ask these questions because I like to enjoy new content with the new elite specizalation and like hot didn’t unlock it till I finished the expansion almost. I want to be prepared to try to do the new content from start with a new elite specizalation.

Thief build for solo open world pve

Most people will say play what you enjoy…..

I can’t speak much on thief as I skipped thief with tomes but I use a condition daredevil with daggers.

My damage with my particular build isn’t the highest but I’ve never managed not to kill anything and I survive like crazy. I haven’t had the best of luck soloing all champions like on my druid or reaper but can still do ok. The build is loads of fun when your not near a cliff or ledge.

I also hear staff is pretty fun and does well going with the zerker type build but didn’t fit my preferred play style

When I was just messing around with builds in pvp lobby on a character I found I really did good with maurders (so spelled that wrong) mixed with superior rune of the doylok.

I’m a tad broke and can’t afford to craft that set so was curious what I could use that would maybe be close in terms of stats?

I have all ascended zerker trinkets already to start with so wasn’t sure if there is a good armor match with maybe soldiers and knights and maybe swap out to another rune? Trying to get as close as I can match power and vitality as the set used in pvp lobby. Thanks for any tips!

My favorite will always be queensdale just because it was the first map I ever explored and had such a fun time with it and the game with my first login

Silverwastes is my second because it had the most fun meta event in my opinion and always had something going on. Plus I loved how it was player driven and not based on a timer like all the hot maps
