I dont get badges very quickly in wvw. Then I can go through 6k badges in matter of minutes when forging superior siege.

you do get about 3x the BoH in eotm and how often do you see superior siege there? no up grades either.

so then we reach the point… sry cant upgrade, guess I need to spend more time in eotm so I can help in wvw?

EBay has been fighting GoM for the past few weeks, I would say they have experienced out manned.

I would like to think I had earned some rep as a good defensive commander. When setting up defenses, I start off explaining that no defense can hold forever, it is a delay until help can arrive. If no help will come, the defense is pointless against a determined attacker.

Those on SoR have no back up coming… ever, but this is not the case with nearly all other servers.

Siege disablers take the place of well placed ACs, door trebs and scouts even. One quick, dmg immune warrior can arrive first and throw disables until supply runs out. If your entire map force is 5ppl it doesnt take many defenders to nullify your attack and even 1 disabler gives them plenty of time to get there.

Siege disablers have ruined the game in the sense that its certainly dumbed down the defensive strategies but the dynamic is still the same. Defend, delay, reinforce or fail.

No one confuses spvp with wvw do they? They both have pvp but they are clearly not the same. Eotm is not wvw in the same way it is not spvp.

Often enough posters write something here….

I am having generic issue in “wvw”

It is true the rewards in wvw are rather meager. However, I would not ask for them to be increased. I join wvw to match skills with my fellow gamers and any carrots dangling from sticks offends my sense of purity.

Then again, carrots become bait quickly…

Make the OS chest drop 50g so we can grief for hours and read about the difficulties on the forums!

I spent many nights engaged in epic brawls inside the OS. Then s1 dropped on us and my favorite rivals were not to be seen again for weeks at a time. Sadly, the grudge match nvr resumed.
My regular friends and foes in the OS is what rly got me hooked on gw2.

Having the seasonal tourny in eotm could be a great idea for many reasons.

It seems rather simple to just add scores, 3pt for first, 2pt for second, 1pt for third. Then total score for each color at the end of the week, collect tickets, done!

How would u even complain matchups are stale?
No fair weather fall out when the match gets tough.
Even the old wvw die hards will have no excuse to avoid eotm now and can play with out guilt ~_^

Its nvr dull on sor. It has a target rich enviroment…

You all prolly wonder why we still play there; sor is a place where the individual matters. Every point we make is ppt sqeezed out of the enemy with our bloody hands. Its like the difference between making a cake from scratch and buying one in the store.

My solution for making wvw exciting again… let us guest to other servers for wvw.

(Buying guilds alrdy happens so thats not rly a countet point.)
Think how this would affect your stale match ups?
Server has a que? No problem.
Out blobbed? Invite some friends over.
Ocx time dead? There is prolly action somewhere.

Why dont our wvw traits work in silverwastes? Maybe pve’rs will join wvw/eotm so they can farm the new map harder or shed tears of frustration that we can do something better. Either way is good.

It would just be fun. Indigo needs mortar 5 cause they are placed badly and hit the over hang.

Cause its fun to troll! The grub only exists to troll you all.

Also even if we know for certain you are there to kill the grub and swear to behave we will still kill you. Its nothing personal, its just we were lead to believe you are concealing delicious bags and we want them.

the 30s delay on white swords is mostly useless already.
We see white swords, how long have they been up? Ask in TS and map chat for a scout report? Maybe half a minute later the scout responds… yup there is about 15 hitting the tower! Group decides to defend the tower but it flips right before we get there and we see 3 superior rams on a wooden gate.
Unless you happen to be nearby when the swords pop there’s not enough time to respond anyway. To make defending worth while, upgrades are needed which require players walking yaks (or just dumb luck), siege placed in smart locations and a dedicated scout to sit in the tower.
Swords on supply camps are pointless also. Only case where they work is for the tower scout nearest the supply camp and its a bad solo having a hard time clearing upgraded guards. Or when its npc mercs with out the player.
The situations I describe are for EBG where objectives are located closer together decreasing travel time, in the borderlands its pointless and frustrating chasing white swords.
There are guild groups who can take a t3 garri before white swords even pop.
I think the most of us wvw players are upset cause this change, likely inconsequential, appears to be a fundamental misunderstanding of how we relate to wvw.

seems you are assuming that the ppl complaining about repeat match ups are on the winning servers, or even servers that have a chance. I would think that most of the complaints are from ppl who were on servers continuously beaten by the same server for 3 weeks and would like a chance.

further more repeating the same match ups is limiting my servers options to either tie for 2nd or give up and accept 3rd. if match ups were not repeated, the servers who tanked round 1 to get easier opponents rounds 2-3 would not be within reach of getting a 1st place.

We were lead to believe that there would not be repeats and we would simply need do our best every round. In hindsight the best route to go is 2 5 5 3 rather than put in effort and get something like 3 5 3 3 for all servers not at the top of their bracket.

repeat match ups mean its more important to manipulate your score than play hard.

Im not the best at math here, but i did a quick calculation with just the NA servers.
s1 was 3.6% repeat match ups
s2 was 13.9% repeat match ups
s3 was 18.75% repeat match ups

most of the repeat match ups in s2 were in gold league due to only having 6 servers rather than 9 as in silver/bronze

I havent read all 7 pages of this thread so maybe its alrdy been suggested…

battle groups, my thoughts on

have 3 (or 6 or 9) battle groups each server is assigned to at the start of the weekly reset. group assignments would be based on each realms contribution to the total score and would be remixed so that the next week is roughly equal.

in this way lower populations servers could be partnered with larger populations servers or many medium pops matched against mega pops.

how to measure contribution? keep a running tab of wvw xp earned.

next, when deciding to join wvw each time, a player can choose a low, medium, high population version of each map. in this way smaller groups can play smaller groups, zergs can fight zergs and raise the populations caps for the high pop versions.

this will allow more space into wvw yet limit how much score a player imbalance can cause. Mega blob server may dominate on the high pop map but be losing on the small pop map to the organized groups, scores remain equal. This will also increase the variety of wvw fighting a player can enjoy as well as providing action at all times of day.

for a tourney a server earns rewards based on how many times they were on the winning color for the week. they wont know who they are allied with or fighting against, populations should be comparable in numbers and they will have no choice but to fight as hard as they can every week.

I dont like any of your suggestions but I do like the topic.

I wish they would remove the mercs (hylek, dredge, ogres). Youre suggestions sound like more of this mechanic. I wish they would remove all neutral NPCs also, cause who needs that thief rallying off a deer?

To make more strategy though we need more ways to assault objectives. Attacking jerri is a pain in the kitten. Both breakable walls and the gate face lowlands and are well within range of mortar/cannon/treb fire. Result is; the only way to assault jerri is hard, fast and hope no one sees you!

anyway, my point is good strategic play depends on having options and counter options. There just needs to be slight adjustments of structure placements and other minor tweaks to open up new methods.

I been playing an engi, seems stealth is just buggy all around right now. Engi stealth usually reveals right away. I see thief trying to refuge and then being revealed right after and standing there dumbfounded.

Im starting to get the feeling this issue isnt even on the agenda for fix.

Thief + Commander + WvW = ?

I was a thief commander until the mug+hidden thief nerf in the 5-10 range covering the over night shift on SoR. I used a standard crit/shadow build with 2 pc of sentinel for the chest and legs; the biggest stat blocks for the extra vitality. 2 pc soldier and the rest all zerk. Traveler runes free up an utility slot that would otherwise be taken up with signet of shadows.

I nvr rly had any problems surviving larger zergs even on the front lines; just dont rush through an aoe spammed choke point with the heavies though, you wont survive that.

my style was rush in and create an advantage, the team would follow and clean up. What is an advantage you ask? This could be many things such as steal in and back stab a light armor to half health, then when their 10 turn around to smash you just stealth. your team will see them chasing you and attack their backs.

my point is… youre not a guardian dont try to play like one.

thief is the most tricky and versatile of all the classes, we excel at creating advantages.

another example: say there is a downed enemy player, your team wants to stomp. drop refuge over your stompers and spam cluster bomb into it. they will stealth, and you are throwing area blind. hammer spammers cant touch this!

you also need to take care of your team, be watching for that ranger who is back peddling and go save him. cover that warrior who over extended with area weakness. these are things you dont see heavy hammer train commanders do very often.
