that looks kinda weak. theres no direct dmg listed on the tool tips though so maybe incomplete.
what about the caltrop shot that applied bleeding and cripple? no more concussion barrage?
instead we get poison and light fields? bleh
Edit: as a wvw played im actually ok with a good poison field but srsly no one wants more light fields. Why not a lightning stun field? The blast finisher is missing from skill 1, guess it got moved to orbital strike /sadface

Is there a private forum for discussion?
ever play spvp and get steam rolled in the first minute, then everyone kinda lingers at the spawn till game is over? wvw is like that except the game lasts a week. even if anet forced even teams, the same thing is just as likely to happen.
so the real questions
do you rly want to rebuild? are you willing to put in the work?
if yes, what do you lack?
is there a low amount of ts usage? are ppl willing to learn? do you need more commanders? is there any communication between time zones? is there a siege donation organizer?
the basic principle is that you have to get out there and show the server there are ppl still willing to fight. even if you dont have the numbers to face a larger blob head on theres strategies to stay in the game. it wont happen over night, wvw doesnt rest, just cause the prime time ktrain fails doesnt mean the whole week is lost.
Dolyak mounts confirmed!
Also Id like a mortar that actually shoots like a mortar is supposed to and not a treb clone with burning instead of poison
Sure why not. How about an over sized clown mallet that honks when it hits and geese fly out of it.
First you have to get them on ts, gl with that!
Seems like what u intend is a sort if support network to shuffle players around as needed. I also see the potential of learning from shared experience within the guild. How much of an active role do u anticipate for your guild?
Whats the focus of pve? There is no focus in wvw but what you decide for yourself. What players do in wvw is a reflection of their personalities, some do trollish things, others run it mindless zergs but there are many who join to be part of something and get satisfaction working as a team and building a community.
There at the end of the week is only a rough estimate of how well your team performed in attacking enemy objectives, defending your own and killing the reds. Sure some are going to sah…. nuuuuh its night capping! Ppt is coverage! Every sever has ppl online 24hrs a day. What effort was made to find potential players and commaders for the off prime time blocks?
Mostly wvw is just too big for 1 person to take in all at once.
Sounds like a movie plot…
Then you bring one of the savages back to the big city as a specimen. The high society is at first fascinated and then repulsed. A break out occurrs and a long pursuit to recapture animal running amok in the streets. The creatures comes to a tragic demise and the angry mob realizes society was the real monster all along.
Or perhaps give us more details cause I have a vivid imagination.
Mechanical dino copters
Anet wouldnt know what to do with all the money this would make. The economy would crash cause ppl wouldnt show up to work. Neglected children would starve. Wars would end, finaly world peace.
Why not add three new NA servers, no restrictions? If all the servers truly are very high population this seems like the solution and who would transfer there besides the wvw players?
I rly like this thread and all the good discussion here.
What I was getting at before, saying the BLs should be neutral is like the tri colored map. I dislike the alpine map because its so big and takes along time to run to the south half. The enemies spawn closer to bay and hills if you have to start from citadel. They have Cheeserazer helping them get a foot hold. If you lose your wp in bay or hills its gonna stay paper for the rest of the day. It rly feels to me like the home BL is already a disadvantage to the defenders.
My suggestion is remove Cheeserazer from the enemy spawns. Add a similar event for the home team that starts in citadel if the garrison is captured where 20 golems spawn and march to the walls and break them open. If successful, when the champ razer reaches the inner circle he gives a free wp.
Yeah I know its more pve stuff no one rly wants but its just for your home garri. Im just brain storming here. The invading hoard might stick around for the challenge and everyone has a good fight or they might clear out pronto to avoid dying.
With manual upgrades from enemies in my home BL as it is now, what I see is scouts sticking around to que them but they are also able to call back the zerg. If upgrades were automatic thered be alot less reasons for enemies to stay besides the chance to kitten us.
when the enemy hoard rampages through and resets everything, the best thing for the underdog server to do is go to enemy BLs, que the event and hold the south half of their bl until they leave their map.
Your worried about being night capped super hard, but how does this affect prime time play?
Why does a boarder land map get special treatment just because it has your server name? All maps should be neutral, I think the OPs idea would more traction if auto upgrades in EBG and home bl but Im still not for it.
There also seems to be the assumption that populations are consistent through out the 24hrs. Heres a scenario…
Theres a world my server often faces that launches 30z around 8pm which is our weakest time. They sweep all the maps for a few hours then log out. However this server is weak for the previous 2hrs leading up to zerg time so we cap some stuff in all BLs to get some ppt before score takes a massive drop.
Im thinking if there were more reinforced gates in their way, they wouldnt blow through all maps so quickly and give our out manned forces more time to respond.
If you have small groups back capping after the zerg it makes them less effective. The upgrades start up again forcing the zerg to return again and again for little gain. The solution is to spread the zerg out to defend the towers.
Theres very few servers that win purely by night capping. Even if they do, they move up a tier, get crushed and fall back down. The ranks are shifting constantly and after typing this up I think even more this is will help stabilize them.
I think youre right Sich but a positive community doesnt last indefinitely and I kind of see this as a stabilizing effect countering burn out. Theres highs and lows for every server. Thinking just cause the situation is bad now and it will nvr get better is the cause of all the transfers, overstacking, massive zergs and thusly the lack of small scale everyone thinks is so great.
after further thought, I think as op said, the home bl could use some advantage like no auto upgrades in enemy bl’s. Then again if EBG has a que would enemy players be reluctant to go to enemy bl’s because of the disadvantage? Would it result in less action on those maps? So prolly auto upgrades everywhere are best.
Anet needs to hurry up and give us HoT!
These are HoT changes, so I dont think we will see them at work on the old alpine map where the south half of the map tends to get ignored.
I dont think the automatic updates are perfect but they are a definite improvement. The old system is very kitten the few ppl who know how wvw works and are willing to spend the effort on grunt work.
I cant believe any of the wvw players who have been active daily for months dont want auto upgrades.
I expect the price of catapults to drop significantly when we start playing on the new map.
Thinking that pure pve’rs are the problem isnt correct. Perhaps on some level it will contribute to the server cap but there cant be more than a few hundreds wvw’rs per server.
Ive been a wvw guild leader for some time now and part of my recruiting is finding players new to the game and to wvw. I try to turn them into active participants; for a few weeks they are logging in every night and having fun working as a team.
Then I see them in silver wastes more and more until they eventually stop rep’ing the guild or quit. Ive always thought the learning curve in wvw is too steep. There needs to be some game mechanism that explains simple things like… how to place an arrow cart so it doesnt die immediately. Then I think wvw would have a higher player retention.
Its this type of player that just dips their toes into the wvw ocean and then goes to SW that clogs up the servers. When the exodus happens theyre on the forums saying something like… just came back from a break, wondering what happened to my once strong server?!
The answer is… you happened.
Another option like many ppl have said with factions or what ever, the basic premise is a system the continually separates out the casual players from the ones still logging in everyday. I doubt anet would ever consider such a thing because they dont want a hard core game or maybe they just dont want to hurt some noob’s feelings.
We cant do any creative brainstorming because we have no actual real data on the wvw population. All the solutions put forth by the player base are based on assumptions.
Ive had these same ideas but they are difficult to put into practice.
If you had a zerg busting group of lets say 20 players which also has the patience to break a fortified wall or two youd likely just dominate the map.
With 20 players Ill estimate this to be around 30% of a map que. If the map isnt capped out this means you are the main force and will be expected to respond to the attacks from which ever server you arent focusing and it will keep you too busy to set up prolonged assaults.
If your 20 group is the largest on the map you can take everything with out needing to be smart about it. Just roll up to a door, drop rams and kill any defenders who wander through. If there is a larger blob you will spend so much time fighting you wont cap much.
If you ignore all defense and fighting everywhere but at the objective youve chosen to take the server will turn against you and the guild roster will shrink. Ill assume you dont want to just park the group outside a tower, repeatedly built catas as they get destroyed and fire until you drain the wall. You want to do it in the most efficient way possible which means the leader needs to think about controlling the entire map to set up the final assault.
I have a good amount of experience on this topic, if you want more info about our guild and server or just to swap ideas, send me a PM.

another often overlooked cost is purchasing a commander tag for the new account.
The idea that transferring to a lower ranked server should be cost less just reinforces the idea that it will be a lesser experience. As if all those poor ppl stuck in bronze are there because they are too economically challenged to afford moving? No. Many are there because they like their community and being the cheap transfer server would destroy their work.
At this point in the games life server politics are transferring are part of the game. The costs are definitely too high and is a barrier to those players and guilds who desire a challenge and would integrate into a new community rather than just bandwagon.
I think what is needed is a way to decouple transfers from fluctuating gem prices.
A quick idea… what if there was an item sold by an npc vender that could be purchased with a variety of currency like karma, BoH, gold or laurels; when activated allows a transfer at character select?
(edited by Synosius.9876)
I think op is trying to say SFR que times are too long.
If such a served existed we would have all transferred there long ago. It is sentiments like this that will prevent one from ever existing.
You are bringing bottle caps to Shangra La.
Our group was leaving RQ when I realized Id neglected to pick up supply. I turned around heading back up the path when a ts voice says…
Uh oh youre rubber banding!
No, Im just going back for supply.
I predict engi will soon become part of the meta, filling the same roll as the ele. Their anti siege capabilities are better and they bring similar combo field options.c
This biggest design flaw of WvW was adding a score.
What metric would you suggest determined a winner?
When there is a score ppl will want to have the highest number. They will stack to a few servers to win. Population imbalance occurs. We dont need ppt or glicko to tell us to fight.
Imagine if the score was gone? Would any of you stop coming to wvw? All the stacked servers would blob over the objectives because??? They wouldnt but there would still be fighting cause ppl naturally want to defend their turf and because red is dead.
Eliminate ppt and poplation imbalance will be much less relevant.
This biggest design flaw of WvW was adding a score.
We are limiting the Bottom-feeder League Spring GvG Invitational to Bronze tier only – meaning servers ranked 17th – 24th
Im pretty sure 16th is bronze, It is within the tiers you mentioned. Just because of score disparity, it doesnt make them silver if they cant win above that bracket, but do win in that bracket…
They are trying to exlude one specific server with out being obvious.
Sounds Interesting, [Wisp] may want to join in from GoM to spectate. Please PM me or send me mail to Mexamese.5163. I’ll send you mail adrielle.
GoM will most likely become ineligable next week.
(edited by Synosius.9876)
Why is rank 16 not eligable?
Since your screen shot is from inside a freshly capped enemy tower, it doesnt seem to have been very effective.
cant post about SoR with out timmy popping up. left the server months ago and still cant stop talking about.
Preach on brother Gray, feel the powah of the word!
the most important aspect of wvw is community, if it changes on a daily basis you’ll just get eotm all over again. it sounds like you want to get around free transfers (once at least) and mergers by calling them factions.
There are a lot of players who like eotm style of anonymity but I expect there’s even more players who don’t care about winning or losing as much as playing with their community and friends. That is what server pride is actually about.
By saying that no one in their right mind would transfer to the low tiers for the same price. You listed suggested transfer costs based on rank and so combing these two statements you make it seem the players changing servers would transfer down if only it were cheaper.
I think ppl transfer for variety of reasons but gem cost is the least of their motivators.
Further more, even if the cheaper prices did get player to come to bronze you think we want the instability that comes with fair weather bandwagon players?
(edited by Synosius.9876)
It works both ways. Defense always loses, attackers might be driven off temporarily but pure defense strat is just dying a slow death
Seems you assume ppl are all still in gold league cause they are simply too poor to afford transfers.
Well DH finally made it to t3 and… getting crushed. JQs glicko is dropping slightly, I dont know what it means but anything could happen at this point. Mag is looking strong. The future ratings are anyones guess!
WvW is a game about community, unfortunately many players view it instead like eotm, or spvp. They want a 3-2-1 START, then play for a bit with a conclusive ending. Making friends, forming alliances and working as a team is not what they are interested in doing.
What you are looking for is a bandwagon server. These servers have an influx of players allowing them to easily beat opposition in their tier before glicko has had time to adjust. Morale is high, there are plenty of commanders and friendly players to back you up keeping the zergs in check.
The servers at the bottom tiers are there because morale is low and fair weather players don’t return leaving commanders little to work with. The ideal response would be to get involved with your server community and work hard to rebuild.
Playing on a low tier server is very challenging, you will often be fighting out manned and be forced into roles you are not familiar with such as defending and siege wars. If you look at the current scores, BP is rank 24 yet coming in second for this match bringing them up to rank 23 when this week ends.
Picking a server that looks stable likely means they are tired of a stale match up and wont be fighting very hard. Transferring to a server on the rise will put you against new opponents and more fights.
The negative aspect of a bandwagon server is that when the ride is over, you just have to keep transferring every few months. Having recently faced all the t8 servers myself, I would not say any of them are dead. They fought well but a server rises or falls with the strength of its community. Those players outside of the communities will feel lost and alone; fair weather players not returning day after day makes the maps appear empty.
That all being said, I’m secretly rooting for Darkhaven to keep climbing the ranks, their success looks like more than just a bandwagon.

There’s a lot of Portuguese speakers from Brazil on SoR, dunno if that helps at all.
I think for all the NA servers its 99% English.
(edited by Synosius.9876)
There are a lot of troll claimers on my server too. Our work around has been for the core wvw players to use multiple guilds to keep control of key objectives and coordinate switching claims. Still, they some times get us and its rly stupid seeing that bird heraldry on our keep for days.
We have even talked to the player with this bird heraldry but he says he only speaks french. So we got a bi lingual french english speaker to try and explain the issue but suddenly he doesnt speak french anymore.
Paratroopers dropping into smc from dirigible gun ships?
Too awesome to ever happen, sry walking into battle is a we will ever get v_v
you sound like a great asset to your server. I think your perspective is great and something I should keep in mind when inducting new players on my server.
Im prolly one of the highest ranked wvw players on my server and I still learn new tricks. I remember when I started, learning siege placement was daunting. I spent alot of time building hundreds of trebs to find those ‘omg your amazing’ spots. The learning curve speeds up if you can find a few like minded players to help you and brain storm on new strategies.
my suggestion to get more wxp and loot is rank up AC mastery first, learn to place ACs in hard to counter spots and use them.
to get more practice fighting, spend some time in spvp hot joins. Sure its not quite the same as wvw but the fundamentals are transferable. It doesnt even have to be alot of hours, youll quickly see flaws in your build and play style and be able to improve.
as long as its killing rangers, I think everyone is fine with it…
yes the BL maps are so boring… Id rather have 4 copies of EBG ’
but op gave me an idea… imagine 5 maps arranged in a ring. each server spawns in their starting map and to enter the other servers home maps, they had to reach an inter zone portal which is protected by a tower.
Once the gate way tower has been capture the army can march on the next zone and so one until they get home again.
Not really. They provide the best versatility and damage vs. supply cost of any siege equipment which is why they are always used, but they are not difficult to counter.
you just said they were the best but not op? while they may not be hard to counter, they are also harder to counter than rams.
I think if we had the gold to throw around we’d all use guild catas for everything.

SF took rank 24 for the first timer ever, at week 51 which was 7 weeks ago. The highest rank they ever obtained was 15 and held for 3 weeks. SF has consistently held rank 17-22 for roughly 2 years.
I think ET has spent alot more time at 24.
I was gonna respond earlier, then considered the risks of getting an infraction for saying something negative, but now Im just scouting this keep so…
This idea is needless complicated, heavy on micro management and hard to understand. No one wants to escort yaks. Supply is not an interesting feature in wvw, its just part of the mechanics.
Theres a portion of the current population who dont understand supply in the current system. you want to add individual supply management on top of trying to get these wxp rank 5s to even pick up supply in first place?
I think its a terrible concept. Have you been a commander, claim a camp, then try to get everyone following to go back to the supply pile and interact again for the extra 5? its like 4yr old children refusing to eat their vegetables! Imagine trying to explain all this to some noob you cant even convince into picking up +5.
gaspara’s idea is good. separating the tiers by color is ambiguous and does not help anet’s customers find an enjoyable wvw experience.
The bronze servers are not dead, theres just not as many players who wvw every day. Often times the match up winner comes down to just a few players that enjoy the wvw game mode most of all.
a quick story, a returning player got in our ts channel that had around 20ppl and asked… why is game so dead? How can a person ask that when theres 20ppl coordinating a defense in just one channel out of many that also had players doing other activities?
Ppl see what they want to see.
I have played in gold through to bronze, the main difference as I see it, the blobs dont swell to enormous sizes but the in-between times are mostly the same. we build siege, scout, havoc, walk yaks just the same but fighting rarely gets past the 30v30.
Because of the smaller zergs, there’s few guild groups hunting enemy blobs. the fighting is intertwined with capturing objectives. Communication is more person to person rather than guild leaders talking and handing down orders.
I think this is where players unfamiliar with their fellow realm mates have trouble and think their server is dead. If youre in bronze, you cant just ask your guild where the action is but instead, you need a long friends list, you need to get on ts and be involved.

Cause we’re not interested in stack and push play style.
15v15 group comps 5warr, 5guard, 2ele, 2 necro, 1mes
Run forward, veil, boon strip, static field
So when we say we dont have the numbers its more that we dont have enough ppl who play this specific way.
