When they were added, there were practically no backslot items for below lvl 80.

I think there’s still almost no others, come to think of it…

So, they’re just themed, that’s all

The API shows up to 6 because there can be one extra for those who don’t own HoT and one extra for those who don’t have character of sufficient level.

They did a while back fix the bug that allowed higher level characters complete the extra low-level dailies, so a single account only have 4 PvE options.

Those aren’t exhaust. They’re the airflow from (essentially) a quad-copter, so pointed against the direction of the fall – downward.

+1 for updrafts and leylines in core tyria! They have to add updrafts above the Smelter in BC!

One glide I’m looking forward to (don’t have Advanced Gliding yet) is top of LA lighthouse!

I’d actually like to ask for something for someone else. My wife would very very much want to have the Ironclad glider, but neither of us have gems (or gold to convert) to buy it.
Edit: I managed to save up the gold requiered, so this one is fulfilled!

Using regular pick (any tier, really) I usually “doubleswing” on the third swing of each gathering action – that is, I get two “drops” of ore and consume two uses of the tools. This leads to getting my hits 4+4+2, while animating 3 swings per action.

The “Don’t Spawn an NPC at all – just bring up the sell/TP interface” is the best change I can imagine. Not only does it make using them more functional for the owners of such items, but it also completely eliminates the ability to troll the game with them.

This would be the best sollution, as the NPCs spawned by the permanent contracts can’t even be used by others anyway.

But its gonna lead to inflation down the road, because you get alot of rares from that which means that due to temptation alot more ecto gambling is going on, and as well all know, the house wins most of the time.

I don’t know, we’ll see …

Uhh… If “the house always wins”, how would ecto gambling lead to inflation? Things (money or materials) being removed from the game is pretty much the exact opposite of inflation.

And yet, as a new player (started about 6 months ago) I have never felt an actual “urge” to buy bag slots.
There simply isn’t that strong a “need” as you think.

The only thing I’ve felt that I needed, was LS2. I spent cash for that, and put the surplus toward a storage pane because it’d be a convenience. I feel an urge for more character slots, because I’m an altoholic, but I haven’t given in yet.

That’s why I said supply ^^ I don’t mean the ones hoarded by flippers and ppl not realizing you can sell them, those don’t help any player that works for his stuff, when coins start to cost 1g soon. Cause those aren’t available to anyone and not in the pool of supply for ppl that need them.

Ppl save a lot of money too and just it’s existenz doesn’t help the economy ;D It has to be in the flow. Same thing here. And if ppl start hoarding stuff that should be in a constant flow, someone has to do something about it. (something apart from “don’t buy it, then it gets cheaper”, cause the a few rich flippers, could always hold the price at a very high level, FORCING others to adapt to them)

In the thread linked above, Chris Cleary stated that the amount of coins entering the game is “way more” than the amount consumed.

People hoard coins, yes. A rising prize will make the real hoarders less inclined to sell, since they “might use them some day”. These will probably not sell their coins at any price point.

However, most people aren’t hoarders to that degree. Each have their own sell point, where they reason that the gold they’d get is worth more than the possible use of saving them. As the price rises, more people notices the goldmine in their materials storage and sell, leading to a lowering of the price again. Moan a bit in map chat every now and then that they’re so expensive, and you’ll probably entice a few people to sell

$20 for 3 bag slots cripples new players.
$10 for a single bank expansion cripples new players.

330g for 3 bag slots cripples new players.
161g for a bank slot cripples new players.

These are mandatory things you need to be able to actually play the game at this point, with so many new items and things you simply CANNOT put into material storage or don’t go into your wallet.

Trying to play a character without at least 120 bag slots is not really doable at all with how much garbage you’re constantly given. A person without any bag slot extensions will have to CONSTANTLY fix their bags, even mid opening all the AB chests. It’s a real headache and not fun. You spend more time managing inventory than acutally looting things sometimes. While having 125-160 bag slots makes it so you never have to fix your bags until you’ve played for HOURS.

New player here. The above is nowhere near my experience. I run with 100 slot inventory (5*20), so no purchased slots, and have no problems whatsoever, and I even lug around stuff I really don’t need, like parts for Mawdrey I haven’t “charged” yet. I salvage regularly during play, deposit materials when my Craftsman’s bag is full, and make sure to run by a vendor every now and then to sell junk and runes. The only thing that takes any real management is TPing Major/Superior runes & sigils.

Stopping in the middle of opening a swarm of chests like after AB meta? Sounds completely reasonable to me. That’s not “constantly fixing my bags”.

2 of my 3 80s doesn’t even have 20 slot bags in all slots, and there’s no real problem, though I carry fewer extra stuff on them.

The extra storage pane yes, that’s close to mandatory. I’d love to see 1 or 2 panes purchasable at a reduced price, kind of like the bag slot bonus (1 bag slot + 3 Item boosters for less than a normal bag slot, 1/acc).

Things you should know before buying HoT

To me, as a new player post HoT, it really felt like getting a series of books, except I got book 1 and 3 and have to pay extra for the second half of book 2 – sorry first half is out of print, here’s a recap that doesn’t actually tell you much of anything.

I’m ok with LS2 being an extra purchase, but it really would have made more sence to include it with HoT. What I’m still completely baffled by is that anyone approved progressing the main story of the game in a fashion that completely lacks futureproofing! How could anyone think “Let’s move the story along in a way that no future player, or anyone on hiatus, will ever be able to experience!” was a good idea?

I just got bumped straight from “Forging the Pact” to “The Battle of Fort Trinity”.
Suspecting this has to do with joining others story instances.

Joined another’s “Light in the Darkness”, they chose a fear, I accepted credit.
They joined me in “Forging the Pact”, they accept credit, we’re both bumped straight past the fear storyline.
We noticed it when I joined them in “Battle of Fort Trinity” that Trehearne’s dialogue referenced things we hadn’t played.

Well, since GW1 had effective armor weights (just not explicit), they’d have to pick three of the armors:
One of Warrior and Paragon
One of Ranger, Assassin or Dervish
One of Monk, Elementalist, Mesmer, Necromancer or Ritualist

Either way, I have a feeling whatever they picked, people would be upset they left out their favourite.

Honestly, I found it more irritating when practically the entire Destiny’s Edge was standing passively inside the Pact airship, fighting absolutely nothing, while I was on the gundeck, both killing dragon champions and the minions thrown aboard!
