Also, there are no points of interest, vistas, hero challenges, or waypoints at the end of jump puzzles.
Wall Breach Blitz and Tribulation Rift says hello. They’re not the hardest JPs in the game, but they are full jumping puzzles, and have things for map completion (a vista each, and WBB has a hero challenge) locked behind them.
Gift of Exploration is used for all legendaries, not just the old ones.
New ones use Gift of Maguuma
Huh. You’re completely right. I could have sworn they used the old GoE along with the maguuma ones, but checking the wiki – nope, no Gift of Exploration anywhere. Wonder what made me think that…

Edit: Mea culpa!

Doesn’t look like it, but just to be sure (since there are more than one Eye, iirc) it’s this event you need: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destroy_the_Eye_of_Zhaitan
The event before it can stall, if that happens, try to get in right away after a game update.
Good design of point-spend system comes down to two fundamental variations:
a) More points than options to spend them on – a large portion of users are expected to have everything.
b) More options than points (preferable much more) – everyone’s expected to pick their own mix, and it’s obvious no one will get everything.
Going for (a) but not supplying enough of a surplus will lead to frustration as players’ expectations are to get everything but are unable to if one source is unavailable/unreachable.
Going for (b) but supplying enough points to actually get everything will lead to the same frustration as people will always try to get as much as possible.
Going for (a) but having a too large surplus creates a different frustration, in diminshing the feeling of reward or achievement, or making the points themselves feel redundant.
A system with equal amounts of points and options is pretty much guaranteed to create frustration from several different perspectives.
The Mastery system is clearly meant to be option (a). Some feel they had a too small surplus at launch and are fixing that now; others feel launch was good and the surplus is now getting too big. Likely not possible to reconcile, personally I feel it’s safer to go with larger surplus.
Of course it’s the smallest size. Is there any other way to roll an asura?
My engineer (male asura) is almost max size. Running around Rata Sum or any of the labs in Metrica and Brisban, he’s frikkin giant! He makes a lot of regular krewemembers look like progeny!
Thanks everyone! I’ll make sure to update with how it goes Good idea about youtube! I always do thay for JPs, don’t know why I didn’t think to do that for this :p
I still haven’t done any of the Dungeon Story modes (or explorable, for that matter), despite playing for 1.5 years and focusing on story. This is mostly because I have a pretty strong aversion to pug things I haven’t done before and my guild having seen a reduction in activity for some time.
I play most of my time with my spouse, and we have a pretty wide selection of lvl 80 characters, variously well geared, and with a couple each I’d say that we’re decently competent with.
Which Story Mode Dungeons (if any) would you say are feasible to duo?
No, Dry Top is entered from Tangle Root, the SW corner of Brisban.
Good to hear you found a workaround!
When HoT launched they stated that only new expac stuff would be behind the paid edition, so when expac 2 comes out HoT will be F2P for everyone. No need to suggest it, it’s already going to happen
Not quite. To my recall, the plan was more along the lines of “Buy latest expansion, get previous expansions for free”. That would leave the Play4free option unchanged.
I mean, it’s been years now and it doesn’t make much sense, conceptually (in regard of the term “cleansing”; we should at least see nature regrow, no?).
Debatable, actually. It takes a lot longer than most expect for plants to colonize a large area that previously had none (living) – see what Danikat wrote earlier in the thread.
Personally, I’d love LW map in eastern Orr, toward the land connection and thus closer to areas that weren’t completely corrupted. That could be a truly living place!
She hatched in ep2 and we trained her in ep3.
I agree though, it’s high time and would feel strange to not check in again in the last ep!
The new expansion is likely within 6-7 months, possibly (though not likely) as early as 4 months.
When it comes, HoT maps will likely see a drop in population.
So it really comes down to two main points:
1) Do you want to play HoT content now, before the next expansion or are you comfortable waiting up to half a year for new things?
2) Can you afford $30 now and likely $30-40 in half a year? If not both, would you want to wait to get the new stuff again with the new expansion?
If you don’t expect to be able to afford both, I’d recomend waiting. If you can afford it, get it now to play through before the new stuff comes.
You don’t actually need a member of the race to purchase the racial armor. You’ll get a warning that you’re buying gear you can’t equip, but it’ll let you buy and it counts for the achievement.
The racial story is something you’ll need them for of course.
The Ogre thing can be worked around; by joining someone elses story and accepting credit you can get a “minor race story” usually unavailable for your race. Probably not worth the hassle, if you’re going to do the lvl 30 story you might as well do the 40 and 50 stories too.
The Portal Scroll. Each of the LS3 maps offer an Account Bound portal scroll for 1k Unbound Magic.
Well, there’s only three story steps left after Buried Insight, so the character in question is on one of:
- Sign Cutting
- Bitter Harvest
- Hearts and Minds
I know it’s tedious to find the one right one. Maybe worth contacting CS to see if they can figure out which character started the collection?
Look through your characters to see who’s done Buried Insights but not Hearts and Minds – assuming the strap is the only story-reward missing:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agent%27s_Pack_
If none of your characters match that, I’d contact CS.
Legendaries are Account Bound, not Soulbound; and no, they are not mechanically better than ascended. They are designed to be an aesthetic choice, and a little bit of a convenience.
They have (PvE) stat combos available, and are updated with any new ones, so I guess “future proof” is another feature.

Glide-r-tron was the first glider I saw before it even became purchasable that I immediately decided to buy – I stocked up on gems almost right away and then had to wait two or three weeks before it showed up in the store!
Other than that, I really like the Exalted glider.
Bunter & Danikat, you two are talking about Character Creation, OP is asking for this to be added to Character Selection, after login.
IIRC the pieces are actually consumed when entering the transformation; which strongly suggests a no.
No the weapon is still the same. You will not get those upgrades back when you make the legendary, however.
Have you checked lfg? I don’t think I’ve ever had problems getting on to a populated SW map (EU player as well)
I’m in! I’d love the option!
According to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats Sinister is crafting only, and Viper is crafting and Story Reward.
The Story Reward way of getting Vipers is late in HoT, each character can choose a box with one piece of Viper, Trailblazer or some other IIRC.
LS3 maps, Ember Bay and Bitterfrost Frontier has accessories. Bitterfrost should be really fast.
Yes, to be able to easily uncheck it when playing a character with leaps etc.
Also, always choose the Legendary chest from the Chest of Loyalty (final login reward)! It’ll drastically reduce the amount of clovers you need to RNG for in the forge.
About crafting instead of buying: look through the collections on the wiki, look at the things you’ll need to do, and check that there aren’t any that you just won’t do. If there are – buy it on the tp. If everything looks doable to you, go the collection route. You can save money by crafting the time-gated stuff yourself, and you’ll spread out the spending a little bit, dividing it up into discreet things rather than one lump sum of gold.
Other classes use daggers as well, so I’ll echo the sentiments above – don’t delete the, turn it into a mule, or place it by a permanent gathering node that’s out of the way and use it to gain a bit of money. That way you’ll still get the bigger birthday presents!
Then get an extra character slot and try out other classes that use daggers, and see if you like them!
I found progress to be easier on low-activity. I can controll building up my participation (love Outnumbered for that!) by capturing ruins, camps and killing dolyaks.
One final note: you have to have a minimum WvW rank, but you might already have that for other reasons. Even if you don’t, you’ll earn rank points by doing the semi-work-around above.
You do not need a minimun WvW Rank. The GoB Reward Track is selectable right out of the gate.
The lvl 80 boost can’t be moved from shared inventory, it can only be used.
Yeah, I think gw2effiency does pretty much all that…
A full set of Ascended armor + 2 One-handed Ascended Weapons will take 25 each Brick/Ingot/Star to make the Vision Crystals. More than that is pointless to save, they’re easy to get more of.
I think a more likely Gold-fed is a permant Upgrade Extractor.
Make a stockpile of Bloodstone Bricks and Empyreal Stars, something like 10-15. Feed the rest to eaters.
Airship Oil – destroy what doesn’t fit in your material storage.
I don’t mean hide in the literal sense, I just mean in extreme banking type of style. haha
Still, what does an extra guild slot accomplish, in relation to trading/storage, that isn’t accomplished at least as good (probably better) by an extra character?
I’d pay gems for this.
A lot of people have asked for this. When it’s come up in other forum threads, some have questioned why anyone would want 6+ guilds (some seem perturbed at the very idea). I can’t see any harm to the existing guild structure and lots of potential benefit for those interested (and ANet). The only question is: how easy would it be to design, test, implement, and maintain?
I cant see any reason why any1 would dispise the idea. Especially if its gated behind gems or smth
One reason, pay to win.
Currently, the only banking option we have is guild halls – where we can deposit gold / items / other stuff. If you allow guild slots to be sold via gemstore, you’re essentially selling guild halls via the gem store, allowing people who monopolise the market to take it even further because they can hide more of their assets away.
Not really, more guild slots achieves nothing economically you can’t do today with alt accounts.
Also – “hide more assets away”? In what way are assets more hidden in a guild bank than in an account bank? And hidden from who? Not like there’s a Tyrian IRS…

They’ve always said that only the bottom slot can hold an elite specialization, so you can only one at a time.
There’s nothing inherent in sword to make it melee for a caster, just look at Mes Greatsword and Rev Hammer.
On the other hand, ele has literally no melee weapon currently, just short range. I could see one flavored around stationary rather than mobile protection – functioning similar to Mes sword’s evade but flavored differently.
I’d skip the “jump start” bundles, they tend to contain too much non-essential stuff.
The Copper-fed Salvage-o-matic is wonderful. It should be a prime contender for the Shared Inventory slot you’ll get when you use to lvl 80 boost (but do wait with using that boost!)
I managed to dredge up an old thread on the same topic (they tend to show up every now and then) with some good advice in: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Help-me-shop-please/first#post6354753
Also, remember that Legendary gear is not more powerful than Ascended, so if it’s Best in Slot you’re after, there are a lot easier and cheaper options than legendaries.
If you care about playing the story, I’d recomend buing the Living World Season 2 bundle. That is story content leading up to Heart of Thorns (the expansion story).
Other purchases really depends on your play style, so might be a good idea to wait and get a feel for it.
Some things are really valuable if you play multiple characters a lot, but a waste if you really only play one, or stick to one for long stretches of time.
Aesthetic/cosmetic stuff can be anything from super valuable to completely worthless depending on your personality.

Just checked in game, unfortunately it doesn’t actually salvage the stack. Still one at a time :’(

Wait, you apparently can “consume all” for berries And now salvaging the others salvages the entire stack.
When the heck did that happen? Well, that’s pretty much it for me. I have no real complaints.
Wait, what? You can salvage more than one at a time? How?
If it’s a green bullseye hovering above the target, it’s the indicator of a called target – ctrl + T

Even as someone who loves gliding, I chose to keep to the story. I recommend you do the same, on the whole, it’s not all that long a wait.
There’s definitely S2 spoilers in Torn from the Sky. It’s very possible you already know of this, but there is a huge reveal at the end of S2 that is completely in the open in HoT, already in the first instance. There’s also a resolution to a question from S2 that happens there.
