Anet gave birth to Gw2 – Anet killed Gw2.
Murican law 2015.
Separating Queue back to solo and team is something that will not happen anytime soon.
I don’t use Boons vs CeleSignet Necro.
How useful is that build vs me?
Courtyard is TDM type of PvP map.
Enjoy~
it’s not only about skins.
Overall it’s P2W and mods should stop playing FBI and CIA with those censoring attitude.
Well the 2500k is just over 4 years old, what would usually be pretty old (while new when GW2 was released btw) however because CPU improvements have been somewhat slow lately it’s still among the fast CPU’s. When you ask advice about an upgrade, in general people will not tell you to now upgrade the processor when you use a 2500k.
A GTX 970 is not even a year old. put in 8 or 16 GB or RAM and you have a system that is still pretty up to date / fast. However, this setup does not give you great performance in GW2, so it’s not just about having an 10 year old PC.
I have ~5 years old PC.
My only bottleneck is CPU and crowded places – that’s why turning Character Model Limit to Low is fixing all kinds of performance issues and allow me to play smoothly while the rest of the graphic settings are maxed.
But like I said, Character Model Limit aka Player crowd is the biggest issue in all MMO games, and rarely even a top notch CPU and GPU solve the problem.
Mind you that my CPU is on pair with yours, kinda worse in MMO gaming.
-snip-
Link was posted couple of times already, lurk few pages back.
And no, DX12 won’t give performance increase as much as you believe it would.
It won’t do a jack to fps drops like it’s on Maw, Karka or Great Jungle Wurm.
Performance isn’t that bad anyway, and the only problem with CPU is the same as in all MMOs – player amount in single area.
Unless, you have problems with playing Gw2 with 10 years old PC, then well, consider an upgrade?
Regarding 64bit client – we will need it sooner or later. And the faster we get it the better.
Anet is planning to introduce Raid system which will for sure require additional resources. To stabilize it we’ll need 64 bit architecture one way or another.
I still don’t get the idea to keep sticking to 32bit clients anyway and never thinking about 64 bit one.
Guild Wars 2 is the most P2W game available.
It’s a fact since it’s launch.
And Anet will not change this.
Not today.
Not tomorrow.
Not after tomorrow.
Don’t argue about cheap stuff.
In all games – wizards, sorcerers, warlocks, witches, force masters, elementalists – all kind of magic casters that could deal great damage and had firework like animations are squishy like no tomorrow.
Anet showed that they can make a mage into something that will out best any Tank that ever existed.
Should congratulate on succeeding~
Is that the greatbow build on metabattle? I’d love to try it as 2. Slow weapons is well… Slow.
Hammer, gs and LB are slow weapons.
Decide on one and grab fast attack ones for your build or liking.
Protip: If you grab Sword for main hand, equip Sigil of Intelligence for 100% crit on Final Thrust.
Is gs/hammer the only viable build for solo queue? I mainly play my necro now as I’m trying to main it and get awesome on it and decided I’ll rock my warrior as my main alt class. But I can see gs/hammer getting tedious after awhile… What other builds work?
I refuse to play my Dd Ele haha, find it quite boring anyway. Same with bunker guard… So necro and warrior FTw
Ummm…no?
I’m rather surprised by people using 2 slow weapon types.
I thought that having a set of fast attack weapon is rather a norm.
Or just dodge. Especially when you know there is a bug.
Used Whirlwind Attack with 3/4 evade to get out of Ring of Fire – ended up with +6 stacks of burning.
Looks legit.
U have to whirl while REALLY close to the ring to make your way out of it without getting burn stacks…if you whirl from the centre you gonna get it
But at the end of the day you shouldn’t even 1v1 cele dd eles on war since it’s pretty much asking for suicide
Nah, I win a lot vs celeddeles on my war.
But thing is, that Whirlwind Attack is a skill which has an evasion through almost whole animation, and despite that it did put Burn effect on. I’ll skip the fact how many I got, but the thing I just did is simply silly.
Turns out that the only way to not get the burning effect is to waste your Dodge Roll.
aaaaand, it’s not like Anet cares and is gonna do anything about it
u.u
I don’t want to alarm you but anet doesn’t care about pvp. Fact.
Pretty bold thing to say now that they announced pvp leagues …. o.O
Considering balances, previous statements, and other stuff…it’s a Fact.
Or after 3 years you want to tell me, that their magical announcement about Leagues and overall balance is something to believe in?
People are for long already into:
- Actions first, words later.
Well that doesn’t really explain the difference between new accounts and high MMR accounts that Nos was pointing out, Tao. Obviously a larger population would result in shorter queue times, but I don’t think there’s actually anything incorrect with what I said. At least, you didn’t point any out. Also, a year ago I’d known 60 minute queues to happen at odd hours. People just get too salty to see sense.
I can tell you from new account experience as well.
1st match won, 2nd against ESL team, 3rd against another ESL team.
Imo what I’ve noticed that if you’re too long in queue, it’s better to quit and queue again – something like a bug?
I didn’t mean that you’re not correct, your MMR speculation isn’t off.
But also, Anet isn’t really into talking about MMR stuff.
We don’t have Leaderboards with MMR value.
We dunno how exactly MMR does work.
Justin once made a thread where people posted 500-100 matches.
And honestly, I don’t really see any difference since he made that thread and closed it.
For me, it appears that Anet is into eSport but at the same time doesn’t care about it.
Unless they’re fine with having ~100 people in eSport arena and believe it’s something of a great magnitude.
Thief skill: Scorpion Wire → bugged since launch?
Well, it’s sad to hear it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is how matchmaking systems work in general. It has your MMR and it tries to find a match of people very close to your MMR. As time in the queue goes on, it spreads the search range. If your MMR is 1500, let’s say, then it might start by looking for people from 1450-1550, but spread to 1350-1650 after like two minutes. Since your MMR is high, it’s unlikely to quickly find a match with people close to your rating. That means your queue times are likely to be longer than newer accounts, since it doesn’t have to wait as long to spread the net. It’s not just matching you with random people. Sometimes it might feel like it, though.
Not exactly.
Right now, PvP arena has less players than half year ago.
Much less than year ago.
What’s more, a lot of pvp dedicated players – who rather were dedicated – don’t spend half of the day in PvP arenas as they used to.
2-3 matches → logout
And I assure you, that’s not the real life stuff which make it happen.
People are already fed up with balance issues, and Anet’s further development which only bring worse and worse balance each time they touch it.
And here you have it, long time queues.
To think that year ago, it took less than a minute to get a popup entry to match.
This is Anet’s eSport for you.
Or just dodge. Especially when you know there is a bug.
Used Whirlwind Attack with 3/4 evade to get out of Ring of Fire – ended up with +6 stacks of burning.
Looks legit.
Thats the meta, I don’t see it changing until we get more news of this “new challenging content”
Killing Zhaitan was challenging.
They have reputation and they are on arguably the best possible end of b2p, f2p would be kittening away money and therefore development resources. I don’t want to have 1 min shorter que times so I can play with 12 year olds who can’t afford the game.
That’s only if:
- Anet get money from sold copies
- Anet doesn’t get money from sold items in Gem Shop
Whats more memory going to solve? Probably nothing. Its the games main thread thats bogging it down and its completely CPU bound. The only thing that will help is optimising this. x64 or DX12 will do nothing.
Have you ever played the same game on 32bit and 64bit client. Mr. Mitsubishi?
If I’m not mistaken, there is a chance to get even a pre from it.
Since there are named exotics coming out of it.
Could give support for x64 to juice out more stable FPS.
Not like it’s a big deal to make it happen anyway.
Why isn’t this a thing yet?
Because B2P is fine as it is.
ANet wana make PvP an eSport spending alot of money and time on it to happen, but even tho the GW2 is kinda popular it can never compete with F2P games; And of course I don’t want it to go F2P in all three game mode, bots and gold sellers would pop from every corner, but we have seen there is a system for demo accounts where they can limit the experience, then just give out the PvP part to everyone.
Lately the development looks as if Anet has hired hardcore Korean devs. No diversity, balance jumping like on bungee, grindy stuff.
Well, if you’ll look for future updates, it seems like the “casual” game is going to be dropped, and it’s going toward games such as WoW, Aion, Tera and so on – where you’re punished for kittenz and forced to grind.
What’s the reasoning behind it? GW2 has no viewership on twitch basicly everyone who watching already has an account, so no new players gathered from there.
Ask their marketing rather.
Personally I have seen and heard about Gw2 only in 2012. Since Winter 2012 couldn’t see any kind of ads or open conversations.
Same was with Gw1.
It’s more like, if you want to learn about gw2’s existence then you gotta search for it, like for Illuminati or something xD
What about the bots? If we get the dishonor system back and remove hot-join rewards they can’t farm nothing.
HotJoin has 25% track per day or so.
Honestly, if they did open a F2P version, I would allow an option to Queue to something like HotJoin and keep the reward track by ~25% a day.
If they would like to gain more and have full access to game – purchase it – for like €20?
In my opinion, reasonable enough.
What about the economy? PvPers can farm reward tracks for skins and can earn a small amount of gold but PvE is much more worthy so no real impact would come from there, since gold useless in PvP.
I’ll surprise you.
Nowadays, doing Reward Tracks bring you so much goods, that’s comparable to PvE.
And hence to be even more frank with you, I got more ascended boxes from PvP Reward Track, than from PvE and WvW together.
Those people would get a lot of crafting materials such as T5 and T6.
Prices would drop for sure.
We could get a huge PvP player base and see more versatility, also folks now can try out the game without those “invite your friend to try out gw2 for 2 day” events and buy it if they like or wana get all 3 game mode, but they don’t even need to buy it some of them would always pay dollars for a skin in the gem shop, so just more income!
Those dev nabs have to get their kittenz together and balance PvP properly so anyone will find something niche for themselves and be compete with the others – and I mean builds.
Right now the only mode which allows that is WvW, and still it’s not as cute as it may sound.
What may work greatly on people is such diversity with such low amount of classes with great palette of builds, and ability to swap builds at given time.
Those builds are seen by people as Subclasses, and people who still remember L2 and Rift, would be pleased to have a chance to try it out.
P.S.: GW2 is the best game I have ever played, the gameplay can be really fast and exciting, (games where you literally casting a skill for 4 second and staying still? super-slow motion compared to a PvP match here)
The way we don’t have to suffer from unbalanced gameplay where some maniac has a weapon which hits 200% more than yours and only paid $25k for it. (true story from PWI)
I could go on for days, but only peeps who already playing GW2 could responde so I hope that proves my point :/
Well, that’s true that no matter how much money you have, if you’re bad then you’re bad and everyone run in the “same” gear.
I vote for SignetCeleNecro nerf.
It is so wrong that Celeddele is like a ragdoll vs SignetCeleNecro.
When it was last time any decent player got killed by a staff ele or scepter ele? When it was last time you got killed by a staff ele for example?
But to sum it up, the staff and scepter ele that can’t kill any decent player..require skill, meanwhile the d/d set which brings eles up to par to other professions and to which you die…requires no skill, hmm..such coincidence…
I’ll leave this here:
http://www.vrworld.com/2009/03/24/mmo-industry-or-the-plague-of-nerfs/
I got killed by Scepter ele 2 days ago.
1st I got immobilized and then I ate Icebow #5.
After this all kittenz went down on me.
I personally laughed, because so far it was the first time I ate Icebow #5 and didn’t know that nothing prevent it from activating the moment it does connect with hitbox.
10/10 was impressed.
If it’s true, then we have to think about somehow buffing Celeddele.
We cannot allow any hardcounters to Celeddele.
in WvW

Someone should start a new thread after every patch tuesday listing “You had time to do this in sPvP/PvE, but not that in WvW”. I mean we get that they are busy, but still.
Like:
You had time to program ambient occlusion in the graphics engine, but you cant make garrison inner south door upgreadeable.
You had people work hard to fix the entire personal story, but no one can remove the constant particle effect in the water south of garrison.
You had Lions Arch rebuilt, but cant move spawn invoulnerability zones 4 meters to prevent exploits.
I already got infraction point for writing something alike.
Apparently it’s rude to mention such stuff.
Cons:
- I will afk the match more frequently, especially if my team is losing.
- I will be hostile against inexperienced players for joining and I will tell them repeatedly to go play PvE.
I admire your honesty in declaring yourself as part of the problem rather then looking for a solution.
Accurate response to someone who believe that HotJoin is a source of current problems in PvP.
Everyone have a right to participate
I would like to not remove such right from anyone, no matter how good or bad they are.
Remove rewards from HotJoin and Custom arenas.
What will happen?
Not much really.
Except massive leave of players from Hotm and Gw2 overall.
I would change Hundred Blades animation to match Dante’s hundred blades from DMC.
With this we could make a forward projectile combo finisher.
And so this skill would no longer make Warrior look like it’s dancing…
Sorry guys, devs are busy with HoT expansion.
Will think about it afterwards.
Anyway,
Don’t forget to purchase HoT expansion.
I hope you’re kidding, because PvP is the only skill indicator that GW2 has. The players mentioned (Lypion, Rom, Amsterdam etc.) are clearly the best warriors in the game, be it with or without a team.
What has WvW to do with this? Whilst Sizer isn’t the best 1v1 player, he’s certainly one of the best thieves mechanically and rotation wise. WvW is some gimmick kitten where you can easily oneshot people. The damage is so much higher and things like Buffs, Stacks and Food contribute to even more imbalances. Give him full asc, buffs and food and he’ll probably win just as much as in pvp.
Why do wvw players still don’t get that PvP is the only place where dueling is on even grounds?
Well, I would like to not talk about those who got oneshot in wvw.
And no, PvP mode is nowhere near a skill indicator.
WvW isn’t either, but is much better than PvP mode due to the sole fact that it has more viable builds per class than PvP mode does.
And if it’s about sizer – well, like some thief already said to me – rotation and skill wise, he’s great in PvP, but in WvW he’s decent, because 1st – PvP mode rotation and landscape means nothing in WvW, 2nd – people aren’t bound to Amulet and it’s static stat boost.
What does it mean?
What’s so squishy in PvP, can be tougher and still hit like a truck.
And mentioning buffs and food…please.
I’m not denying Sizer’s skill here, but point is simple.
WvW offer better pvp and skill quality than PvP arena, by simply making viable all builds that are not viable in PvP arena.
This thread points out clearly one issue:
- People are unable to distinguish Best Class players on Teams and without Teams.
For example, same was with Sizer.
Sure, Sizer was a great Thief in PvP mode.
But he was stomped by loads of people in WvW when he went there.
Conclusion?
In current state of the game, it’s impossible to drag people out and prove that they’re the best in pvp.
And it’s not because of balance, but because how Anet did kitten things up.
Great feature.
Can’t wait to see more people leave PvP mode and eventually leave Gw2.
Good job~
I like going to take a bath in the middle of match.
I said it already couple of times.
Give us the ability to create amulets ourselves by giving a pool of points with certain cap on each value and let us distribute those points.
No more whining regarding Celestial amulet, no more whining which amulet is bad or good or OP or w/e else.
If you’ll distribute points badly toward your traits, skills and weapon sets then it’s your own fault.
No more annoying this amulet wins – would be a step closer to “personal skill matters” not some technical annoyance.
Although anet need to buff some unused skills of warrior such as banner & rifle stuffs though, other than that, I would say warrior now is fine. it’s just that DD cele ele is too op.
MM mancer is annoying.
And problem is that weapons hit only 3 targets no more and often it’s a minion that receive the damage, not Necro.
So as some necros cry for minions to be AI silly, it’s rather convenient to have them packed on yourself.
Nothing to congratz. I felt shame as a NA player. Double DD Ele, such skill much wow… Even I’m from NA, I cannot feel happy about it. Sad game is sad.
Win may not be impressive.
But fault lies behind developer.
Shouldn’t be higher than 60ms.
LOL at people thinking double ele won abjured. They won because they were simply outplaying and outrotating everyone else. Especially ORNG was extremely bad at rotating and even capturing or holding free points.
ROM personally said after first Temple map, that they’re really bad on it and their team setup is bad for it also.
But, he also mentioned that they’re aware of that problem and they will work on it, to improve their skill on the maps they perform really badly.
Also, there was a moment where those two eles downed 4 ORNG people.
Let’s face it:
- With current Burn condition design and the way D/D ele can AoE Fire fields, it takes simply just 2 Elementalists to kill a whole team in couple of seconds if they’ll place and time their Fire AoE Field skills on specific area.
Is it OP?
Well, tactic wise, it’s a great thing and effect is stunning.
But overall, this system favor D/D build too much and reward is too great for random placement in PvP mode.
As has been mentioned in many threads already, Burn has to be toned down, and the best way would be to bring it back to it’s old design and in the meantime, adjust the new design to be balanced.
It totally is proof Mesmer is OP. There are 2 mesmers in WTS which factually makes them completely OP especially over ranger which isn’t even at WTS!!
Also who cares if there are teams with double ele, double guardian, necros represented as much or thieves on every single team, the point is we all hate being beaten by flowery butterflies!!
So slap your front flippers together going “narf, narf, narf” till we get it nerfed…or a fish.
Last time I saw Ranger in eSport arena it was a Condi one.
Quite a poor state of this class in such mode.
I personally am astonished by the way Anet PvP team is developing and balancing the classes.
In my opinion, we’re going toward 1 build per 1 class system.
Which means – they’re killing diversity in PvP, and they’re aware of it for quite some time.
#Nostate went down the most, but it seems like Phantaram and Wakkey went down the most after him versus Orange Logo…
…Please buff Celestial!
Rather buff Necromancer’s Down State.
Look how weak it is now. Stomp after stomp on Nos.
Looks like even a King can get rekt by Karma.
? ? ?_? ??HELSETH TAKE 10% OF MY HAIR? ? ?_? ??
:D
TCG and ORNG are very fortunate because their rivalry constantly puts them at the top of their game.
Abjured lacks that. They have no peers in NA
In my opinion ORNG perform so well because they have a real Viking.
TCG and Abjured do not.
x3
I still count for Salt Power +10%
I’d have kept my Oeggs instead of lord downstate food
good game….goooode game indeed
Necro Downed State = New Shroud State confirmed.
Just watch what devs will do.
