Ugh…didn’t expect that I’ll have to list what’s written in combat log.

Fine then.

According to Combat log provided by OP chronologically:

- OP eats 1st Backstab
- OP eats Chaos Storm (Mesmer Staff spell, Daze 1 second)
- OP eats Steal
- Steal has 3 passives: Mug, Daze, Stealth
- OP eats 2nd Backstab

Stealth on Steal is very troll like because the moment you use steal you can drop Backstab on someone and animation wise it barely looks like you did even stealth.

I was using it frequently in WvW against people who had tendency to turn their back to me and run away.

Quite effective ability for gap closer with Spike.

When I see that combat log, I don’t see that backstab needs a CD.

When I see that combat log, I see that you apparently don’t know how to fight thieves to allow them to land 2 consecutive backstabs on you from the back/side.

Looks like you need to learn how to read with understanding.

Not really sure how this is OP when mesmers can land a 13k mindrack on you after a instacast 1200r stun. Mind you, it doesn’t require the mesmer to be behind the opponent.

Yet Backstab comes from stealth, while Mindwrack to achieve that requires 3 clones that mostly have to run to you, which makes it utterly easy to dodge compared to any skill coming from stealth.

- HOW IN WORLD did you manage to let him land 2!!!!! backstabs in a row; did you afk out?

Problem in PvP is that they have lowered base armor and increased base power and crit chance.

That leads to deaths which are way too fast.

That applies also in WvW which makes encounters favor those who are grouped.

I hope Anet will readjust power and armor stats so they’ll work like in the past.

MM and wellmancer are fairly good. Some people don’t like the idea of playing MM though, which is fine, but they are good right now. I have noticed a few people starting to smash my minions first with aoe, but they are usually so close to death by the time they die, they still lose. It is a bother having to resummon them though.

I’m not a fan of the condi builds. Once the newness of condi builds fades and anet nerfs condis, I think it will lose its luster.

I’m not specifically aiming at builds, but amulet alone.

Removal of Trait stats decreased sustain of my build heavily.
So without back up with 1.8k Armor only I’m way too squishy, and imagine that earlier with the same build I had 2.2k Armor.

So my sustain was higher and nicer. Taking into account that Crit chance and Crit Damage is still the same – well, got boost to power tho – damage is quite unchanged.
But sustain in such build along with Consume Conditions nerf, you’re almost a free kill without someone backing your kitten up.

My point is that Anet went too far with those changes – they should introduce a possibility to choose stats on amulets or something.

Right now, as Necromancer you’re punished for playing that class instead of being punished because you’re bad.

I tested other amulets too.
The outcome is silly.

Marauder or Berserker.
Nothing else.

Regarding Condition build – it got boosted by condition changes, but I believe it will be toned down, since they prioritize and acknowledge that dps from conditions is too high atm.

WvW – Necro is still great.
PvP – mediocre.
Damage w/o Marauder/Berserker amulet is simply bad and any bit tanky class will outheal it.

And with those amulets – 1.8k Armor and you go down quite fast…too fast.

I’m ditching necro in pvp mode until they do something with it.
Rekt sustain in PvP by across the whole line.

The biggest plus behind operating on Live servers is that you can nail the real problem on it, since in most cases PTS differs than Live one – it’s not an urban legend that things that worked on PTS didn’t work on Live server because reasons.

Cons may be that we as players can feel the problems which can arise – like with stability change patch. And in case of stability change patch, probably they wouldn’t notice on PTS the lag issue caused by code, because people wouldn’t wvw in zergs and clash one another.

We also don’t have weekly maintenances like majority of MMOs do have.

What’s more, PTS is a waste of time, effort and resources.
People will go to PTS and keep their activity on live servers at minimum – and that does hurt. Your PTS contribution will have zero impact on live server.

How does it go with balance – I prefer a bit of a mess for couple of days till people will settle down, than 2 weeks of PTS, whining, crying, flaming and mediocre contribution to Live servers caused by that.

I love GW2 due to lack of PTS.
It’s hilarious when such balance patch comes and 80% of community asks someone to give them a viable build, otherwise they can’t do anything.

Right now Smarter people own “less intelligent” ones.

Someone who did blob for a long time and right after balance he goes in small group or solo and expect to succeed then disappointment due to fail is inevitable.

And PTS servers aren’t that good anyway.

The thing is why waste a good condi cleans for using a skill? This is only good is your opponents condition application is lower than your transfers/cleanses which is unlikely to happen.

It’s not a waste of good skill.
It’s a terrible usage.
10 stacks of Vulnerability for 4 seconds.

Sorry, it’s meant to give your opponent +10% damage on you, not vice versa.

Probably because they want to see Necros use other heals. The problem is that none of the other heals are worth slotting (not even the upcoming shout).

What other heals?
They’re not viable at all.
I asked to give some changes to Well of Blood because it can be a nice, viable and rival with Consume Conditions.

Siphoning also is bad and not viable.

As Trait changes are good, there is no excuse to put a nail into the ONLY viable healing skill Necromancer has, which also has a great impact on sustain.

One step forward with the stat changing mechanic, five steps back with the refusal to make grindy gear actually worth it.
10/10 as usual, anet.
You may as well make it so we need to buy HoT Collector’s Edition to craft Ascended gear, purchase Ascended trinkets, and have any Ascended gear dropped at all.

Didn’t grind anything in this game.
12 chars – Each in ascended armor / some have 2 sets.
Each char has ascended 4~7 weapons.

I don’t know what you’re on about and what you’re taking either.
Every class can burst any other with a blink of an eye.

Thief goes down faster only because it has at least 5k HP and bit armor less than others in same build(Guardian too, but Vitality formula for it is epic).

If you got yoloed in one burst rotation, then it’s your fault, not of that class design.

well he is right about mesmer, either 15k+? near spammable bursts ranged…if that fails 10k+ invi bursts on sword (or used as a survivabilty tool)…if that somehow fails, stealth teleport escape… mesmer is beyond brokenly overpowered. did he mention all the clones etc? there realy is no excuse whatsoever (except vs thieves) for mesmer to fail in any other situation vs anything at anytime…die as a mesmer vs non hardcore thief and you’re just extremely terrabad…this comment isn’t ment to anyone in particular here btw. and yes mesmer is much much MUCH easier to play than warrior or even ranger…denying it is just lulz

I’m asking for review of suggestions, constructive criticism and support.

Consume Conditions
- do not apply increased Cooldown

Necromancer has low sustain and Regen boon is something that this class can see once a year.
This is right now the only viable healing skill.
Take notice that Necromancer is top priority target which doesn’t have stun breakers along with stability, and is heavily vulnerable to any hard CC.

Well of Blood
- reduce cooldown from 40seconds to 35seconds
- add Condition Removal per pulse

Well of Blood at this moment is weak. Despite being cool party wise, Necromancer still is forced to take Consume Conditions to increase self sustain.
Making Well of Blood bit similar to Ranger’s Healing Spring will give Necromancers a second viable and strong on pair with Consume Conditions healing skill.

Keep it constructive and civil.

I disagree only with one aspect for Necro nerf.
Consume Conditions – that’s at this moment the only viable Healing Skill, Necromancer has – note that majority of other classes have at least 2 viable healing skills.

So, like I did mention in other thread – if they want us to use other healing skills, then make them viable instead of nerfing the only viable one.

Well of Blood could be another viable healing skill if it would have few changes – reduce cooldown to 35 seconds + Condition removal per pulse.

Voila. We have 2nd viable healing skill.

Is it really so hard to do this?

- Mesmer
- Engineer
- Thief

Classes that got quite a nerf:
- Warrior
- Necromancer

As to some do not list thief then why don’t you take into account few things:
- Better sustain
- better access to fury
- HP + Initiative regen in one go

Warrior changes – Burst Precision – you really had to move it to arms right? My war build is simply rekt.

Necromancer – Nerf to Consume Conditions is stupid. Especially when it’s the only viable healing skill. If you want to force people to use other healing skills, then for example reduce cooldown on kitten Well of Blood and add condition removal per pulse…

And before someone will say that necro got niche stuff:
- Take into account that Necromancer is always No.1 target and need self sustain. And already low self sustain is getting nerfed.

Because pvpers complained, that they can’t earn the pvp armor and weapon skins via pvp, that they get “forced” to play PvE to get then.
Thats the simple but true reason, why ANet added the dungeon based PvP reward tracks, so that people stop complaining about, that they have to play Pve to earn those skins …

And yet, PvPers had easier access to those skins during “Glory points” age.

Healing signet isn’t that strong.

I’m fairly certain that healing signet has the highest HPS in game, with 0 cast, 0 decisions to be made, 0 conditions to be met. Only counter is 100% poison uptime that can be reapplied as quickly as it is removed.

So?
Still it’s not OP.

Most people have no idea that Warrior has also a trait called Adrenal Healing, which confuses them with Healing Signet.

Those both together give a good healing, but HS alone is decent, despite being the best and highest HPS available.

Also, you can try out every class “meta” build to at understand how their skills work and what they do. Even if you’ll never play that class in PvP.

I highly recommend to test every class and their meta builds.

Read and understand all skills and check their animations.

Don’t focus on certain strict combos to win as fast as possible, because it’s not how it works. It’s predictable and punishing if it will fail.

Find your own play style, build and class.

Hotm is rich in stuff where you can train, test things and learn how things work.

You can search Youtube for videos regarding certain classes and their combos, some rotations along with builds and weapon sets.

My personal advice is to simply pick up some build and get yourself a Knight’s Amulet for defense.

You won’t die so fast, you’ll see how other classes behave, and you will see how you will behave here.

You have a lot to learn – which in fact isn’t a lot in practice.

Priority is to keep calm when you get owned, ignore some kittens – they happen, not so often, but they do happen .

Analyze skills, weapons, timings, adjust your own build and play.

Key is to play and analyze your mistakes.
And finally adapt both in your build and skill.

Also, you can always ask questions on Map chat in Heart of the Mists.
There are always few people who will answer you and even will go for Whisper chat as well.

A good notice is also to test your builds and stuff on Golems and respective class NPCs in Heart of the Mists(Hotm in short).

Look at this by this kind of prism.

If Thieves are robbed of stealth and their agility along with mobility. How long will they live? Especially with rough ~2 000 Armor and ~14k HP?
Almost free kill.
That’s the reason why Thief is equipped with such abilities, because the moment you catch him it’s instant stomp.

Guardians – Heal isn’t a problem – problem are blocks, because it does nullify damage and effects. And spikes are naked and most vulnerable here.

Warrior – and what would warrior do without stances? Sure, Warrior has high HP pool, def. Walking piece of block that’s semi-slow and open from all sides. Rip it off stances and voila – another free kill.

Condi pressure – it’s a nail in foot for every class – necromancer can handle it longer than other classes, but there is still a limit.

So like I said – Over 90% of nerf requests are simple L2P issues.

Every class has pros and cons.
And as I do sit both in PvP and WvW, I can tell you clearly that people don’t want to accept their own lack of skill and accept that they make loads of mistakes – panic in the middle as well.

If it comes to Thief alone.
I would rework a little bit P/D build.
Because it’s the most rewarding with minimal skill.
And it shouldn’t be like that.
But that’s my opinion based on testing it and seeing from other player PoV.

Not really – in gw2 case.

What leaderboards lack in my opinion is:
- soloq or teamq
- class
- build
- kills/deaths/assists
- captures
- environment usage – treb/hammer

And by that I mean only this, that the Ranks can be farmed and do not really reflect the skill.
By having more details regarding Ranked players, such as kills/deaths/assists, can give you a glimpse if those people are actually skilled or not.

It’s not a perfect solution, but work quite fine.

The neverending complains about thieves and their stealth (now with the bonus about initiative).

Over 90% of Nerf requests are based on L2P issue alone.
And it’s not about Thief class alone.

How come that no onter class has everyone thinking they might be op?

Look what they did to Turret Engineer – nerf based solely on whining for months.
Takes me 1~2 aoes to rekt all turrets – maybe except thumper.(as Necro, Warrior, Guardian)

The only viable bunker engi build isn’t even mediocre.

Now, someone prove me that most nerfs aren’t based on whiners who simply refuse to l2p.

So yes, the healing written on tab of sr is the cummulative healing you’ll get for all pulses, rougly it heals for 350 per pulse.

Shadow Arts
Shadow Protector
- When you grant stealth to an ally , they gain regeneration. This effect does not trigger if your ally already has regeneration.
Regen(10sec): 1,670 Heal

Together with Shadow Rejuvenation you may heal quite a lot.

But I’m not sure if people actually use that trait, despite it triggering on thief too.

Because they stacked celestial self-sustain bunker classes to win. Thats how. And thats the only reliable counter to thief. Being tanky and having good sustained damage/healing does well against thief.

Then what if someone does stomp thieves in other builds except celestial ones?
Like with power builds, bunker builds, condi builds?

In cluster F situations, thief simply have no window to join the fight, except spamming SB skills.
Otherwise he’ll eat all AoEs and simply die within a single second.
But in non cluster F fights but still Team Fights, Thief is the most deadly class in game.

We need more counterplay to Thief Stealth

That’s the point.
Successful strike to hidden players wouldn’t reveal them, but would work as hint to where that player is.
Would give a chance to other classes by simply trying to follow the damage pattern.

No need to nerf directly the stealth system – thief is dependent on this heavily.

Normally when you hit something even invisible you will still feel the resistance of the object.

As Thieves are also Spike dependent in many builds, making such change to stealth would pretty much balance the Spiking ability too.

And therefore could wait for what HoT does offer to all classes and test it all.

The only valid counterplay to Stealth would be showing the damage when hitting stealthed player.

Nothing else needs to be done to Stealth.

I never considered Thief being OP in competitive PvP.
And seeing the balance work, probably will never see.

I would like Anet rather to do something with those toes sticking or rather clipping out of most armors and outfits….

I don’t purchase and use majority of them and will not, because of that ugly detail.
