sPvP is the one area in the game that might actually gain something from f2p with few ill effects. PvE doesnt need it and WvW would probably get choked by it (so many spies).

Servers currently can barely hold current amount of players which already inflict lags constantly.
more players obviously would mean higher intensity and more lags.
And it’s not like anet is going to magically fix it – they didn’t do it for months, so it’s not like they’ll do it anytime soon.
The balance is not the main problem in this game. All games have balance issues. There’s many issues that needs to be resolved. but 1 of the first is the game mechanic that keeps gamers addicted & interested. witch has not bin accomplish yet. Only the most loyal & hardcore base players comes online to play…. such as myself. But the game it self lack lusters in so many ways. The attempts & effort from the devs are remarkable. But the delivery of story line & patches was a miss on most part. Not saying the story was not good. Just the way it was told that could of bin better.
By balance, I mean pvp of course.
With every balance patch – approx 6 months, it’s getting worse and worse and worse.
With each balance couple of builds across all classes die.
And one is buffed up – dd ele.
I have no problem with DD ele as a spec – it’s really nice, showy and something that stands out across all Wizards, Magicans, Force Masters or w/e they’re called.
There were many good suggestions for balancing – and loads of utter garbage.
Still, things look as they do – pvp is losing it’s players(I personally stopped doing Ranked which was the only mode I did). WvW is affected by those changes as well, and became bad as well.
As game itself is a piece of art, unfortunately I’m unable to say a good thing about developers in charge of balance and classes.
And so I can’t say a good thing about Anet itself, seeing how it’s neglecting customers and playerbase, by ignoring and refusing to communicate.
I agree with what some of you are saying. It will mean a boost in gamers coming over to try it. Even buying the expansion in some part. But the real issue is,… will the core game it’self will keep does new & fresh players interested? This is not a guaranty.
I do believe that Gw2 & HoT will have for the next 6 month a increase in population but will steadily back down to about same or a bit above numbers of what we have now. Unless they come up with what they promised for so long. This game is not dead, far from it. But it has it’s issues to the core of it’s problem.
I don’t think they’ll stay for long when they’ll see how kitten balance is and how Anet does it.

just the d/d ones that use celestial are underpowered. they deserve a second chance at fighting after they are effortlessly downed and that’s what the vampire runes help deliver.

We have 2 downed classes.
Ele vs Guardian – of course guardian will win and rally faster.
Ele vs Warrior – of course Warrior will rally faster and stomp ele.
Ele vs Ranger – of course Ranger will rally faster.
Ele vs Necromancer – of course Necromancer will kill ele and rally.
Ele vs Mesmer – of course Mesmer will spike ele down and rally.
Ele vs Thief – of course thief will kill ele in downed state and rally.
Ele vs Engi – of course engi will kill ele, because attacks faster and inflict conditions.
Ele vs Ele – balanced.
So, as you can see, Ele is underpowered and need to be boosted to match competitive and balanced arena such as eSport.
P.S – anet make Evasive Arcana baseline.

They fixed the vampire rune bug on engie and necro but I’ve always wondered why the ele got away with it.
I feel like there’s an ele conspiracy against all classes by making themselves immune to bug fixes and get buffs every patch.
Now that this is out in the open, I really do hope people abuse it so it finally gets attention.
Because Ele is underpowered.
And I hope they won’t fix it.
Ele will be finally balanced in downed state.

The only Toxic thing which is ruining the game is Anet’s approach for balance and communication with active playerbase.
What you experience in game is an aftereffect.
The entire patch was mostly bug fixes, it was not a balance patch.
Yet they didn’t fix the ring of fire bug where it stacks 45 burns…

What we need is more celeddele in Tournaments.

That’s a horrible way to see if someone is macroing. I can dodgejump indefinitely without fail with no macro usage.

I gave lot of feedback since Megaserver launch with screenshots similar to the one here.
On forums, if you provide feedback, you dunno what’s the problem, since there is no response.
Support claims that’s the fault of my ISP, routing, PC, kidney, cat, window, air or whatever else.
Sometimes they’ll respond differently by saying they’ll look into it in next life.
After a year, nothing has changed. dcs are the same, they claim it’s not their fault.
Lags occur constantly, it’s not their fault.
Since stability update in March, it became even worse in WvW – soon half a year will pass and still it’s the same as it was.
They can’t maintain properly something as basic as stable connection.

Scale legend:
1 = total crap
5 = just fine
10 = OP
Build level before balance = 8
Build level after balance = 2
And vice versa.
In the meantime, Anet adds superb features such as SoloQ and TeamQ in one Queue pool.

Mesmer condition damage/application is actually not so good compared with other classes after the patch because:
Things lost
- All clone death traits
- Maim the Disillusioned nerf down to 1 stack
- Bleeding nerf (affects sharper images)
- No free Chaotic Transference if you trait staffThings gained
- native iElasticity for staff and staff clones
- buffed Scepter 3
- Ineptitude and Blinding Dissipation with Confusion buff
- Baseline IP (does not make up for MtD nerf)iMage was kitten before the patch and is still kitten afterwards. Pistol trait is still a problem.
I would say other classes’ condition builds output more condition application and damage. The problem comes with any mesmer condition build taking Torch, The Pledge and PU – which together offers ridiculously easy sustain.
I believe if The Pledge is changed to a flat 20% cooldown reduction on torch skills (not incentivising camping in stealth) together with a PU nerf at least by 50%, then everything else is fine.
In any case power mesmer is so much better than condi and still has good enough sustain/survivability.
If Consfusion would be nerfed to match Retaliation output, and still posses it’s functionality, then current PU Condi Mesmer would be subpar to other condition builds and their respective classes.
You can out-sustain torment and bleed and deal with Blind, but when Confusion hits for 3k per skill usage(even AA), which is a must to deal with blind, then it’s pretty much clear that this build with it’s current mechanics needs a rework.
So a Scepter skills such as Confusing Images would stack duration while channeling, instead stacking intensity.
Pretty much, having inner tick for 500 would still be a lot per every single skill usage without ICD.
Also, it seems ANet mostly balances the skills by throwing them at target dummies and checking how much damage it causes. That’s no wonder they never saw how messed up that ring of fire is when you cross it :p
Well, if they really test it on Dummies(I hope they do not), then d/d ele will keep #1 place in Meta for next 15 years and stuff like Burn etc will be a constant problem meanwhile.
Ok obviously i have to explain it how i would explain to a little kid. You get surprise hit 6 times with skill 1 on engie with a condition build. That means you have a fair amount of stack of bleed that remove quite alot of health every tick. So you try to kite so you dont get more ticks on you, which leads to you cant attack the engie, all you can do is kite or run off from the node until bleed wears off and you have to waste a heal already.
Imagine getting hit by a ranger zerk with longbow (using this as an example because melee doesnt cut it when it comes to zerk you can just run off from melee). So you get surprise hit a few times, lose a bit health, but guess what. You dont have several stacks of bleed on you, so you can have a comeback, heal up and blind the ranger and start kiting.
Understand now kids?
Close quarter combat for any ranged skill no matter if it’s condition or zerk is simply epic.
Even an engi with pistol is useless when you run around it and he can’t shoot you because you avoid his line of sight.
And just because of that, doesn’t mean you can’t attack while avoiding further condition stacking.

Either they face tank or disengage till they reach 2nd end of map.
I have 3000 pvp games played. And you people dont even stick to the issue, you just talk around everything else. Only people who seem inexperienced are you, with your stupid answer. I have over 1000 pvp games played as necro. In fact i played condition engineer yesterday and guess what, people melted…they couldnt do kitten after enough stacks are applied. Guess what skill i used the most during it all, number 1 skill cause it apply condition over and over that can keep the stack high. Im sorry that im ruining you condition players fun with this op crap. NO CLASS CAN OUTHEAL IT or dodge it for that matter like you can vs zerk builds. Vs zerk builds you dodge the big attacks because number 1 skill itself cant kill you off as a zerk. But as a frikkin condition number 1 can kill off a person without much effort. Im sorry to ruin your illusionary world people! Since the patch, condition is a notch too op still and it need a nerf.
You can kill people as zerker with #1 as long as it crits ~50% of times.

In a sense, yes. As a trap/torch Ranger, I require my opponent to have zero brainpower to defeat them. They need to stand still in the middle of my bonfire swinging their GS at me until they burn to death.

That build was great in PvP until recent patch even w/o Runes of Trapper.
Few days ago met a P/D thief with traps and trapper runes – quite interesting build due to traps popping on you and thief not being revealed.
Unfortunately, Thief traps are weak and that build can be easily outplayed.

condis are still sub-par in spvp as stated above, anything worth having mid-rank and up is all power, and thats because condis suck.
also, condis are still sub-par in pve. only burn builds on 3 out of 8 professions come within 10%-15% of power builds (see various threads on other forums on the calculations, practical applications etc.) rest of them are extremely below to the point where they are barely viable at low end. and you want to completely destroy even that little bit cause roaming ?

Conditions are strong in PvP.
They’re less effective because of AoE cleanse provided by many classes which in fact are packed in a single circle with 600 radius.
Roaming which represents a solo or duo performance doesn’t cripple Conditions like that and shows how silly condi builds are.
You can do the same in PvP honestly – go fight 1v1 or 1v2 with condition build and you’ll see that Condition build at some point is superior than power one.
But the reason why it’s easy to cripple Conditions is exactly like it’s in WvW zerg fights – AoE cleanses from everyone nullifies the damage from conditions, and PvP is similar on that point – pack both teams in one circle and let them spam AoE cleanses and fields…

Not sure what’re you about Fay.2357, but Anet for sure should make either BD or PU baseline.
According to metrics, current PvP state works very well in eSport arena.
Therefore, no changes are needed nor required.

To clarify this, PU is semi-balanced.
Why semi?
Because it needs few boosts to be optimal and balanced.
Right now, it’s not performing very well, and becomes a target and victim of almost all builds across all classes which makes PU Condi a mediocre wvw build.
I hope that Anet will take a look at PU Condi build and make some stuff like stability on shatter or condition removal on healing skill as baseline.
