With addition of a new condition called torment and access to burning, some classes do not have enough condition removal to remove other important conditions like poison, bleeds, fear (terror traited). Torment, cripple and other condition are shielding more damaging conditions such as burning or stacking bleeds.

This post is very disturbing. People played so long vs underpowered Necromancers they now feel they have the right to remove every condition a Necro puts on them because they once could.

That is the whole reason Necromancers were underpowerd in the first place! Why they needed a buddy like an Engi always with them to lay cover conditions, it was not a self contained class. (And need a buddy to peel for them being focused – still a problem if they don’t kill the opponent(s) super fast).

A condition Necromancer is getting about 75% of their damage from conditions, you are not supposed to be able to remove every single one.

That would be like if a warrior’s opponent could negate 75% of their direct damage.

Now you have to actually pay attention to what is on you and carefully choose when and what to remove, instead of just spamming a removal whenever you see any condition, which used to get the job done vs Necro sadly.

I don’t quite agree… I agree that it felt a bit clunky to have nearly all your damage depending on bleeds…

But yeah… I got easily a stack of about 10 bleeds up in 5 secs… The best multiple condition cleans have a cooldown of roughly 20 seconds…

I applied poison, chill and cripple to cover my bleeds and when the right moment came, boom, doom and fear mark and my opponent was dead. The only way to counter this was burning stun breakers and all cleanses which left the opponent open for conditions again…

Conditionmancers didn’t need any more damage, they needed survibility to have a chanse of avoiding a focus of 2+ people.

Instead ANet decided to basically give us torment (= 4.5 bleed stacks, about +500dps for 10 sec) and a 50% damage increase to doom (with terror, for me that is about +1.5k damage) when close to your opponent, which is nearly in every case. Not increasing the survivability which we lack but the damage we already had.

As a necromancer player, I do not think it is balance to push all players to have a full condition cleanse build just because of one profession being in the game

Doom never had damage applied unless traited and terror has always been around and has not been buffed. It was moved to the master tier. The duration of fear from doom got an increase in duration based off of how close they are to us. Statements like these make me think people are just jumping on the necro bandwagon. I agree some of our attacks hit really hard but if people want to know how to counter the conditionmancer on their class they can send me a whisper in game or a pm on the forums. I am more than happy to help.

I read the whole post. My bad on missing that fear damage on doom without terror. Doing 80-120 damage with fear without terror though is nothing to get worked up over.

Unlike prior Living Story dungeon experiences, the Aetherblade Retreat “achievements” for the new Living Story of “Sky Pirates” were maddening and unfair. First off, it took eight days of begging and bribing before I could get a group of players to enter the dungeon because everyone hated it so much. A dungeon should be fun to encourage play. Prior Living Story dungeons were so much fun I reentered them. Please please please make future “Living Story” dungeon experiences fun and their “achievements” possible to complete. In Aetherblade Retreat it was impossible to set goals and “achieve” them because players avoided the dungeon or bailed altogether in mid-play. I suggest not making future Living Story dungeons like in Sky Pirates, yuck!

I got all of the achievements in the first week but grouping with my wife to get it was a bit upsetting. 90% of the player base has no idea what a decent build is or how to dodge and that makes this dungeons achievements incredibly difficult to complete. Mainly just the Unfriendly Skies one which in my opinion was a terrible idea.

You can’t and that’s my point. The WvW JP achiev points tie to the overall jumping puzzle achievement with the PVE JPs. Instead of counting them separately, they’re counted together so either I somehow do the WvW JP or I miss out on a significant portion of points I should be getting for my PVE effort.

PVP and PVE should be completely separate in as many ways as possible including but limited to: Gear balancing, skill balancing and achievement points. This way PVP players get the experience they want without having to suffer PVE ties and PVE players don’t have to cross paths with griefing kittenbags.

PvP and PvE ARE completely separate. WvW is not either – it is BOTH.

I’m sorry you feel entitled to the achievement. I’m sorry you think that in order to achieve something you should not have to work for it. Part of the Obsidian Sanctum’s challenge is that it is a PvP enabled zone. Nobody is forcing you to do the achievement except yourself, so you are fully in control of your experience. If you hate it, why are you doing it? If you HAVE to have every achievement, then why complain when some are difficult? You are signing up for it – have some self control and ignore it if you hate it, or quit complaining and ACHIEVE something.

I have all the achievements from the pirate event and I still find it to be nonsense that they put a cache in an easily trollable location. Throw it at the end of a difficult JP or something instead of putting it in a location where logging in at 3am is the only way to get through it.

This is exactly what’s happening and people can’t realize this.

Good thing is I am classified as an “experienced necro” so all the bandwagon necros are pretty kitten easy to wreck in pvp and wvw

I have actually not changed my pvp OR pve build since release. The only thing this build changed for me was giving me viable traits for PvE and a new toy for PvP. Do we need a nerf? No. Do other classes need some love and buffs? Yes. I do think it is funny that people are paying attention to necro now. We have been at the very bottom for 10 months along with a few other classes and finally get our time to shine. I have had warriors,eles, and thieves that are VERY good at using their class take me down in PvP. Problems I see other classes having handling a necro is closing the distance TOO fast. If you get in too close too fast then you are stuck in the fight until one or the other dies. That was the main goal for the necro class and we finally have it.

This! I don’t understand it either. I see more people that got the achievement wanting the event repeat than not at least. I am surprised that the same 5-10 people are going through these posts and are so against it. Why can’t we enjoy this part of the game too?

If you want to see a real lack of response and lack of respect for customers spend a few minutes reading the Mac support forum.

Not a contest on what they are less competent on fixing but I can see where you are coming from. They can merge our complaints into one forum but they don’t respond on it. That is a little more than upsetting.

Why does the hardest dungeon have 2 weeks?

About 4 weeks into the game when me and my brothers hit level 80 we floored a few paths of Arah. A few battles were complete wipes but we got it down and can run it without a hitch unless it is path 4. I still avoid that path. While a lot of the new dungeon will be a learning experience where it gets easier with experience, the one shots are unacceptable. I just remembered what the last fight reminds me of.

A little off topic but I am amazed we have received no red post. It only take a minute to respond to an issue like this and the crab toss achievement. There is a difference between being “aware of a problem” and fixing the problem. To me “aware of the problem” is starting to look more like “don’t get your hopes up.” Sad day.

Its been put in the game once, it can be done again. I didn’t say anything about ease or difficulty. All I’m wondering is why people are so strongly against the event running for longer, or having it run again so others can enjoy it. I didn’t do the event, didn’t even know there was going to be fireworks with a prize and honestly, I don’t care. I just find it a bit disconcerting that people on these boards and in other games are so against people who may have missed events getting a chance to enjoy them.

The devs spent time making the content, no one loses anything if it is recycled, people can only gain enjoyment. Why would it be unfair to people who already saw it? They saw it, got their reward, what do they lose from someone else seeing the same thing and getting the same reward?.

Totally agree. While 30-40% was user error and the rest was ANets mess up. I keep seeing responses popping up everywhere saying “We can’t reward achievements at this time.” How about just restarting the kitten event instead of making excuses? So much easier.

As I stated in a previous reply, sometimes changing altering existing game features is not just as simple as clicking a button and “restarting”. On a side note referring to the event as a “kittening” event seem a bit counterintuitive. If it is indeed a “kittening event” why so much concern for something you feel needs to be labeled with foul language. It seems if you really want to participate in the event then you would say something like, “Please restart this interesting event.” or even something as simple as, “I would appreciate it if your restarted the event.”

I’m sorry for your misfortune and understand your frustration but I doubt that abrasive language is going to result to a positive response to your concerns from Anet.

I would ask them nicely if it was not that 95% (not an exact statistic for sure) of the time they respond to anything is when it is “OMG you guys are so amazing!” insert butt kissing sound here or it is to close a thread where some real constructive criticism could help improve the game. Ever since the Kharka emerged it feels like we have been given the finger.

Opening 500 coffers is very low. The ticket has a drop rate of around 0.01% according to people. You have less that 5% chance of getting it with your first 500 coffers. You have about a 63% chance if you open up 10,000 coffers. Again, RNG plays a large role.

The fireworks occurred every 2 hours. If you had asked when it last happened, then you could’ve determined when you need to be on. Another way people got this was by having themselves auto-run into a corner and do something else (watch a movie, eat, sleep, etc). They then got the achievement when they came back.

Leaving and missing it is not Anet’s fault. The three days that it up was more than enough time to get this done.

A lot of us saw the heads up and were there is the major problem. The 5 minute window in the 2 hours was screwing some over and most ended up in overflow where the event time was different,

If they do it for one event then they set a precedent that they will have to for all others that a handful of players happen to miss.

This wasn’t a handful of players. Part of the problem with this event or achievement was it did not work for many. Many people stood around the area in excess of 6 hours and it never even started. When the fireworks show did run for some, there were many that didn’t even get the achievement. I was in the boat where the event never even started. This happened across 3 days.

They already set a precedent with the Karka event. They gave everybody the chest after the event who missed it. I’m guessing because they finally realized it was a bad idea to have an event during a small window. For instance, not everyone is going to be around on the weekend, especially if it’s nice out.

They did it for the karka event, they can do it for this event, and give everyone the achievement while their at it. Then maybe next time they’ll learn not to do an event during a “window” of time, and one thats not bugged.

Just comparing the changes between my two L80 classes: Guardian and Engineer

  • Guardian (in top 3 in every area of the game): all buffs!
  • Eng (strong in PvP if played by a master, weak otherwise): a mix of buffs and nerfs, plus Torment is going to hurt Engs bad.

If this is a joke, it’s well done.

If it’s true, then ANet scores a 100% fail on class balance.

If you are running Guardian and are a “master” of the engineer class you will get by fine.

Yeah agree. I think warriors should have gotten torment instead of thieves and mesmers. Arguably maybe guardians but they are already in a good place. Thieves have no issue getting to a mobile class and jumping them from behind so I’m not sure why torment was added to their arsenal.

Yes I do think thieves having access to torment with their movement speed is a bit much as they can switch to pistols and sprint circles around a melee. PvP Mesmers are now going to be a bigger pain in the kitten when you try to use a skill to remove torment but also have 12 stacks of confusion or more on you.

The new torment condition gives an unfair advantage to ranged classes. They should have just kept the way things are right now and stick with buffing confusion instead, since confusion is non-discriminatory among classes and melee/ranged

It will work both ways. A ranged class will take damage trying to kite you, just like you’d take damage trying to catch a kiter. I think we’ll have to see how it plays out.

The disappointing part of Torment is that it’ll be limited to thieves, mesmers, and necros. Two of those classes didn’t really need a buff by getting Torment. I think there were better choices including warrior.

As a necromancer I like the idea of torment. We really needed a buff as more than half of our traits are weak, broken, or useless. Hopefully other problem classes got a buff too like PvE build mesmers, engineers, and PvE Thief.

Comeon guys, how can you complain about this. There was 3 days to do this event, plenty of notice and all you had to do was afk a bit in the center of LA to get the achievement. What is most important is, what did you lose by not participating? Literally nothing. You can still get 8 achievements if you want the shatter wings even without that achievement. All you lost was achievement points and lets face it. If you really wanted those achievement points, you would have made sure you stuck around to get those achievement points instead of BLAMING Anet for not having their event LONG enough so that you could finally move your butt and get something so simple done. Time doesn’t wait for anyone.

There is a line between blaming anet for a poorly organize event (which this wasn’t) and you being unorganized.

Some of us DID go away from keyboard in LA and STILL did not get the achievement. There are bigger problems than “OMG THEY TOLD YOU, SO GTFO!” Then we have another 30% that actually have lives and cannot get on the game for a 5 minute window every 2 hours. Even someone who is the biggest fanboy knows that window is a little screwed up.

I don’t either but it would relieve some frustration over a stupid kittening situation. I support ANet wherever I can and this makes me feel like they don’t give a kitten .

We need everyone who did not get the achievement either due to bad info or that it just would not unlock even when you were there to post here. Maybe then we can get a response and hopefully a fix. Maybe even a confirmation that these events repeat every year so we can get it next go around.

So I was there but the achievement did not unlock. Feels like Crab Toss all over again. That being said I have a few ideas. 1) Make the fireworks last an entire week at least like you did with everything else instead of surprising us with a kittenty 3 day glitchy window. or 2) Award us the achievements for the fireworks and the crab toss. Some of us are perfectionists and/or completionists and this causes some lasting psychological harm =(

Let me explain how this works.

The firework event cycle (them happening every two hours) was started at 9:00 AM PDT. The event itself is tied to the ingame time and will happen at dawn (ingame). So your fireworks might not have happened yet, as it is not dawn ingame.

Apologies for us not communicating this more clearly. But the fireworks will happen every two hours over the course of the weekend, so plenty of time to marvel at them and get the achievement.

So what happens to people like myself who’ve waited 4 hours by the fountain in and out of overflow during the allotted dates but never got the achievement as they didn’t show up?

I don’t care much for having it as an achievement as I can just do others to get it, but the dragon helmet; would have been nice to have that.

So what the exact fix for this?

Why exactly was there a window for this event? Did you guys not learn from the karka event that it’s an extremely bad idea?

I don’t know about some people, but many don’t particularly like to hang around inside on the weekends when it’s nice out, nor do they have the time to play during the week.

This! I can’t believe they made it a weekend only event and that it is not running to the 4th of July. I mean really this is when we blow kitten up!

Same problem here. I did a few in the beginning to get started but since tuesday I cannot get them to progress. I would hope that they at least give us the achievement. I really hate this kittening event.

If your using full berserker gear use Axe and Focus. Use focus 4 to stack vuln then use Axe 2 to burst and you’ll hit like 5-7k hits.

I have been running this one. I can use wells and axe 1 and focus 4 to get 25 vuln stacks in a few seconds followed by axe 2 to get closer to 8 to 10k depending on the mob. Then I switch to my other damage classes and get 11-13k in less time with half of the work.

Poison – Health Stealing Abilities – Healing Power

These 3 things should all work in conjunction.

Health stealing abilities (traits, skills, runes, sigils, food) should all scale with healing power cough Necromancer abilities cough and the damage dealt by the actual stealing should also scale with Healing Power. Thus making healing power both a healing and damage stat.

In return, Poison should affect health stealing the same way it affects normal healing abilities. The only place this may come out of whack is in PvE because there aren’t many mobs that poison. Therefore, more mobs simply need to poison you. Would be a lot less annoying than being perma-CC’d for 15 seconds.

As a side note, there should be no fixed healing at all. Every healing ability in the entire game should scale with healing power. Eg. Necromancers Transfusion trait shouldn’t be a fixed healing number at 2628, it should scale.

And another thing.

Boons from sources such as Superior Sigil of Strength that grants Might for 10 seconds, should not be a fixed 10 second duration no matter what. If I have 30% boon duration because of my build, this Might granted should last 13 seconds, not 10. Stop limiting builds for no good reason. If I have 40% condition duration, Sigil of Superior Earths bleeding should last 7 seconds, not 5. Don’t like that it makes other sigils pale in comparison? Then buff some other sigils, because, quite frankly, most other sigils in this game are crap and need to be buffed as it is. You can see perfectly well what sigils people use by just looking at the trading post. There are maybe 10 total that the majority use, the rest are NPC garbage.

So Anet, do us all a favour and get rid of fixed numbers in this game. It completely ruins theory crafting and severely limits builds. Let us build the way we want.

This. I just want that good feel of variety I had in GW1. People keep saying “GW1 only had a few good skills and 90% were useless.” Untrue. I had well over 20 builds in prophecies and that number blew up with the expansions. I only have 4 in GW2 for my necro…..

I am trying to set up my necromancer for power/prec/crit. I do a decent amount of damage but it still feels like it falls short by a landslide to other professions. What do you all use for this setup or is it pointless to have this setup at the current state of the game?

Its not going to be over for months.

You mean Live Events as whole, but it is just serie of some quests. And those quests like these refugies, are time limited? Or will I be able to start this event this afternoon,lets say in about 7 hours when I go home from work?

Don’t panic dude. So far the only “event” is building up refugee signs and campfires. Nothing exciting. Not missing anything.

I was excited when Trahearne gets all depressed when his Wyld Hunt is complete and we were on the airship. Just wanted to nudge him a little closer to the ledge. I sympathize with the guy who wrote the script for Trahearne however. Has to suck that what could have been a good story on paper got ruined by the voice acting. You need to project your voice even in the studio but it was so obvious it was being read from paper. Leaders have that boom in their voice you can hear over fighting and screaming.
On that note I hope that he loses his life trying to make a big difference in the story just for it to be noted later that he delayed an elder dragon by a fraction of a second. Lets just not have a repeat and be like “Yay Trahearne gave us that one second we needed to beat (insert name here).” While our character is flailing around with no legs from the fight that killed the dragon.

I don’t think the devs play, or care, about necros at all.

When they infracted Ruufio for asking a question about shroudstomping, when they asked for people to ask questions, I gave up on caring.

After being completely blindsided by unexpected buffs to underwater skills, I have no predictions for this patch. Its just RNG, from my perspective.

The legendary comment was edited by a moderator. It said much more before it was infracted. The first infraction for Ruufio was uncalled for however.

The Kin decided to post this video in the general discussion. Hopefully we can raise some awareness over the issue. The Kin bought the game on release day. The fact that the minion AI STILL done this last night in WvW when playing after several months now…This is inexcusable.

Only a Necromancer gets fear stolen from them by a thief in pvp so they get corner feared and back stabbed 3 times for 12k damage each time.

Can we have increased raw gold drops pls. Everything in game costs kittenload of gold and items that drop are either worthless or so rare that i feel i have better chance winning a lottery.

Except that would not fix the problem outside of merchant items. While items like cultural armor would be easier to obtain, the gold inflation would make people want to sell exotic and legendary items for even more than they are now.

Just to clarify, you’ll no longer be able to use waypoints when a party member is in combat inside a dungeon. This is prevent people from using waypoints to rush and kill bosses or clear areas, which is not intended game play.

All other forms of res remain unchanged.

Maybe consider going to a checkpoint system in dungeons along with the waypoints? Also may want to take a look ate dungeon bosses being able to AoE an entire room to instantly down 3/5 people and instantly call more AoE on the downed people making res impossible. While I feel this change was necessary I think it came a little early as most groups can’t even clear AC without LvL 80’s in exotic gear due to the scale down seeming to scale us down a little too far.

Why is Thief only one proffesion without weapon range 1200?
All other profesion have at least 1 weapon with range 1200 or trait

thief have trait for bow making +5% damage, give this trait change bow range to 1200

The thief is a profession that can easily close the distance between themselves and their target. Giving them a chance to use that speed to range kite people does not seem fair and balanced.

Yes, this is a good idea. Or they could allow one last free transfer for everyone when the update comes out for those who maybe didn’t make it in time, or those who are just starting the game.

I wish moving my entire guild to a lower population server would be worth it. Seeing as guild upgrades are server based for some stupid reason. That being said, really good idea! I need my friends on my server! =)

I think new paths with stronger mobs with new tokens would be better. I just hate no knowing anything. We are kept in the dark until it is a few day before an event and then we get a whole bunch of problems getting the patch delivered cleanly. It just irritates me.

I just want to know if we will be getting an add in of ascended level gear for old dungeons or if my tokens are completely worthless and will remain that way. I don’t want to spend the tokens I do have on gear I like for the skins just for awesome gear to come out after in a patch and have the good old “you should have waited” crap I got from WoW.

First off I would like to say thank you for the anticipation of the upcoming event. Giving us something to guess over keeps us interested in the game and I feel too many games lack that. I was just wondering if you guys have any teasers for upcoming classes or races. Would be neat but I know it is too soon after release. I think an ETA to a teaser would be awesome. After all I really miss my Dervish…. =(

I have all the available Halloween achievements done but it is still showing 3/5 for the title. This concerns me simply because I don’t want to miss this one and I am still waiting to receive new reward bags from finishing the personal story and getting 5 lvl 36 greens. Anyone else having this issue?
