I thought I replied to this already, but it doesn’t seem like I did. When I made my Warrior, I crafted it to level 80 and put Berserker’s armor on it. I learned to play it the hard way, and that was far more effective than trying to take it slow. A lot of the things I learned from playing Warrior made me want to get rid of the Knight’s gear on my Guardian and made me think about aggro mechanics and min/maxing with damage. That drove me to become better at Guardian, and I realized that I didn’t know much of anything about Guardian or boss fights even though I thought I did. When you are of the mindset that you will just tank and heal and it will be k, you are being bad and lazy. You are not learning, and there is no excuse for it. There’s no point in taking small steps, just go in and go balls deep and YOLO.

I live many times in most MMO’s though. Death, where is thy sting.

Sometimes players do not want a challenge, sometimes they just want to pass a ball back and forth.

Placing horns on them because they are playing the same game differently then you does you no favor. Mind you, if you advertise what you are looking for, they should not join if they don’t want to play your way. Hopefully they will advertise what they are looking for in groups as well so that you can avoid them.

There will always be folks wanting to join groups they are not yet ready for though, but fans will be fans.

But I really wish I was told to start off on beserker. I have so many bad habits thanks to forgiving gear.

I’m not putting horns on them, I’m saying that they are bad players. I’m not starting a rally to join and troll casual groups of people and kick them all out of dungeons or something. If someone doesn’t care to use a proper build and improve at playing a game, then they can waste someone else’s time in another group. Those people can enjoy playing the way they want to play in a group that will put up with it. I will not put up with playing them because I want my runs to go smoothly.

At the same time, I am willing to help people improve. I make video guides for each class I play, I make dungeon videos, and I made dungeon guides with Strife for quite some time. I don’t hate bad players, I don’t care that they want to play differently than I do, but I don’t want to group with someone that doesn’t care about getting better and I’ve seen plenty of people like that.

The OP of that build pretty much acknowledges that the builds he links to (one of which is mine) are better than his. He wants to have a popular build and his reasons for using it are targeted to lazy people that don’t care to improve. His build is bad, and if you want to play a healing / tanky build then they are also bad. There’s no reason to be playing with a build like that. People with the tank mentality need to man up and use Berserker’s armor and actually contribute something other than a wasted party slot.

I agree that he absolutely calls your build superior to his.

“What’s the catch?” you ask. Well if I’m being honest, this build isn’t going to do as much damage as Brazil’s or Guanglai’s. Those builds are going to be a few percent better than this. About 5% if I’m not mistaken. But you weren’t running either of those builds. You were running Strife’s build. And this build is better than Strife’s build. At an absolute minimum, these builds do 28% more damage than their Strife’s guide equivalent, even if you stay with Soldier’s Runes.

There is more difference between bad and worse then between good and better. The best is the enemy of the good.

Players can improve incrementally that feel they cannot make the jump immediately to full berserker, or other flavor of the game. I count ten build links in that thread to help them do so and give them options. Two of which he claims are better then his variants, one of which is indeed yours.

Many people now using full berserker got there a piece at a time.

So I think it is unfair to immediately treat the OP as if he should know about all the other threads, and come down on him. He’s a new visitor, so some hospitality would be appropriate. And even if moderators do not often step in, that is no excuse to act like a troll. Forum etiquette is not something that becomes irrelevant the moment a moderator’s back is turned.

Several of the builds linked in the post use mostly Berserker gear, a few use all. I’m not looking that heavily into them though. They may all be terrible

Interestingly enough, I don’t think getting kicked out of dungeons by spot sellers happened until the casuals started crying about all of the spot selling. That probably gave the evil people the idea to pug and kick people at the end. I’m really not convinced that it even happens, mainly because it’s always a poorly written story in a forum post or a screenshot that proves nothing followed by loads of complaining about spot selling. Get over it, there is nothing wrong with selling spots.

They already fixed some skipping exploits by sequence checks. Endbosses usually don’t trigger anymore if you didn’t kill some bosses before and if they do you won’t get reward. Thing is, not all bosses are part of the qualification for the reward and that has to change.

It took them months to “fix” CoE, but you can still do fancy jumps for extra chests. They don’t seem to be aware of all of the ways to break dungeons, probably because they never test them. Usually when one fix is used on an exploit, one or 2 more are found pretty soon after the fix is implemented. Then it takes time to be able to put another invisible wall in the way.

They should just fill all the places you’re not supposed to go to with Risen Deadeyes.

I think champion warriors with blade trail that can’t be dodged is a better idea.

But I mean I do path 1s with Guang and his gang from time to time to sell spots at the end and they go pretty fast. It takes the 4 of us like 15 – 20 minutes tops with no voice communication. It’s pretty nice, especially considering you can sell the spots at the end for 10g.

15-20 minutes to do the path then an hour of waiting for people to buy the slots.

I still don’t understand why pugs think Shoggroth is hard.

I’ve seen people I consider good players wipe on him over and over and it blew my mind. It’s a very easy boss.

It really disappoints me that ArenaNet doesn’t feel its necessary to respond to this thread. If they intended to make this path so that if the group wipes they have to deal with 50 spiders then they should post in this thread; i seriously doubt that this was intended though.

This path is obviously causing many issues it would be nice to see a dev response. I understand they can’t / won’t respond to every thread. This is a perfect opportunity for them to respond to their player-base

Ranger Short Bow doesn’t get weaker the closer you are. That’s Longbow’s autoattack. And please don’t complain about bad pugs when you’ve decided to use a terrible build and limited your experience and skill level by refusing to use a good build.

The reason that it’s a problem is because there are delusional lunatics that actually think it’s impossible to solo Arah and that pugs are kicked at the end so the party leader can make money off of being carried through a dungeon. If people used their brains and didn’t buy into reddit drama, there would be no problem.

Like Muffin was saying, the methods being used to run the path aren’t as much about skill, its about being able to exploit. Neither of them (or myself) do it like that anymore, but I’m sure if you ask nicely they would make a full normal run for you.

An average noob exploiting their way through the path can expect to be done in ~30 odd.

I agree with this thread, what’s the point having few level 80 if only 1 character can be rewarded from dungeons. So the more I create characters the less profit I can get. It means I can only spend my profit on 1 character per day.

Lupicus targets people who try to escape melee range withthe bubble. Don’t turn and run! When you see a bubble coming at you, try to roll under his legs.

If you are still in range of the bubble then he will spin and put it on you if you go behind him.

No, it does hit you if the red circle is still there. But once the circle is gone and he starts to drop, you should Steal back to him and keep up the standing still underneath him.

That sounds a bit suicidal to me. If you are inside his red circle and he isn’t at a wall or attempts to move away from you, he will use single target projectiles.
And those single target projectiles actually don’t have a minimum range but some kind of a grey zone from ~90 to ~350 units away from him. Stealing inside him and not moving out will result in lupicus splahing his projectiles exactly in your face.

The BIIIIIIIIGGGGG red circle, not the little one. The one where he jumps in the air like a diva.
