Posted by: TheRandomGuy.7246

Because thief has no melee options. Melee weapon will give thief new play style of melee dps.

Thief has two ranged and two melee MH weapons. One of the ranged MH weapons is a 2H weapon. There is no melee 2H weapon on thief. Rifle would have been stupid, too many ranged weapons and 2 of them cannot even be used with an Offhand.

^ Same as your logic. Only, yknow, that both current melees are 1H.

2 “ranged” weapons. Short bow is mid-range utility weapon and pistols are mid-range “dps” while dagger and sword are real hard hitting melee weapons. But whatever. Melee thief hype.

After seeing Brazil sit down and talk with the guy I can’t help but feel that this community does it’s best to take him out of context just to demonize the guy. I’d be curious to see the rest of those conversations, not just the bits that are obvious bingo phrases.

It does not takes much to demonize guy that says stuff like “using inventory to swap weapons is an exploit”.

There is a thread every other day saying “X is too hard”, or something along those lines.

I highly doubt a majority is asking for more challenging content. I’d also like to remind you that ANet has put in challenging content several times, and most of that content gets abandoned by all but a small few until that content is made easy by some change.

“Challenging” Aetherpath has more “puzzles” and npc RP than actual combat. Only 1 boss in the whole path is somewhat hard. It got abandoned pretty fast because of how boring and timegated it is.
Wurm is easy. It is challenging only for like 10 people that try to organize it. Everyone else just needs to have a brain.

Hey Anet can you nerf Ice Bow yet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheRandomGuy.7246

TheRandomGuy.7246

It’s disgusting how much more damage the 4 does compared to everything else in the game.

I mostly do random pugs for PvE content so I get to see the difference between different speed groups. Sometimes it’s a normal group and things go down at what seems to be a reasonable speed, like the bosses actually do a few rotations of their abilities. That seems like ehhh it’s not difficult but at least there was a fight.

Then every now and then you get a pug with 2 eles AND the whole group is full zerk AND both eles bring ice bows AND 4 people actually use them. I know, it should be like this every time but you know, pugs. heh.

So anyway you get that group and the bosses don’t get to do their abilities. They just die instantly. You’re not fighting stuff. You’re just pressing 4 and collecting loot.

How are you going to make “challenging” content when the damage disparity between casual groups and hardcore groups is this insane? You’ll make the content accessible to the majority of the playerbase of course, which means that it’ll still end up being destroyed in 3-5 seconds by an optimized team comp compared to like 15-30 seconds for a casual anything goes group.

Like I just don’t get how that’s supposed to work. It can’t be considered challenging when all you have to do is bring 2 eles and drop 4x icebow 4.

Furthermore, leaving icebow alone goes against everything you’ve done in the past. You nerfed Quickness in general because it trivialized PvE challenges. You nerfed Firey Greatsword spin for the same reason.

Why are you leaving Icebow in a state that completely breaks the game?

Try using icebow 4 without linecast exploit and damage mods from your party on small or medium size target (more than half of pve) and check your combat log. If you are lucky you will see numbers a bit higher than your AA chain.

FOR SALE = Items being sold

People need to learn English.

Arenanet never said it’s “on sale”. They just said Anniversary Sale. This is ambiguous enough to mean both discounts and no discounts.

Does not change the fact that first days of “Guild Wars 2 Anniversary Sale” are complete joke.

Still waiting for them to release the number of active accounts.

Define active account. Where is the cutoff? If someone logs in daily just to get the login reward, is he active? The guy that plays only 2 hours every weekend? The guy that logs on once a month but does a series of dungeons? The guy that logs on every month, chats with friends then logs off? The problem with a non subscription game is saying exactly what is an active account. The best this sort of game can do is give concurrency numbers. Even then that won’t tell you too much as people are on and playing 24 hours a day so telling you a peak number has little overall meaning.

Well they have access to data like how what you salvaged and how much ectos you got or how many players visit trait window. Company of this size that runs high profile mmo must have an active player count they just don’t share it.

But what is the cutoff for an active player? If it only counts salvage or looking at traits then someone who logs on to do jumping puzzles only for 3 hours won’t be counted. Or someone who does map exploration, but does no salvaging. Someone who logs on to make money on the trading post by flipping won’t be counted. Any active player cutoff is going to cutoff a large number of active players unless you set to so broad that it counts pretty much everyone that has logged in one time in the last 6 months.

That was an example of data they have. I have no idea how they determine who is active and who is not, but they have the number and people are interested in seeing it.

Congratulations GW2!

Tempest and Dragon Hunter sucks (there’s no reason to play DH unless you wanna get destroyed by everybody), Berserker and Reaper changes playstyle, Chronomancer makes the class even stronger (even though Mesmer’s already good everywhere…).

Well DH trait line is kinda ok. But tempest failed in everything. From name that does not fit spec at all (even dragonhunter makes some sense because of the traps) to the general idea of melee brawler with questionable support and longest channeling times in the game.

Well, I mean, what good will an answer do?

If I say yes, I’ll be called a filthy casual or something. If I say no, I’ll be called a hypocrite or something.

It’s not a legit question. It’s a very clearly loaded question. No matter what answer I give, it will somehow be “wrong”.

But if you’re that bent for an answer, then yeah. I’d be totally cool with that.

Its simple. It will show who are we dealing with.

And quite a few of ANets changes over the past years have definitely brought the game more in line with the standard WoW-esque style.

If you will say “ascended armor” I will flip the table.

for the thousandth time, there’s already easy content thats stupidly well rewarded , now they are adding hard content to be well rewarded. They are adding diversity to the game. Whats your problem with that? You mad because you can’t spam auto attack and acquire the unique loot anymore? You actually have to use the dodge button and that’s too hard for you now?

The only ppl that see anet wasted their time are ppl like you who are too casual to see beyond your own selfish views. You want everything to be obtained from just running circles in silverwastes because its super easy and relaxing right? You really wish you could obtain the PvP legendary backpeice by farming some nodes and opening 500 chests in a PvE map dont you? the heck with unique progression, who needs it right, thats not what MMORPGs are about right!?

Actually you’re the reason he’s mad about. He wants less people like you in the game. I do too. You’re everything that’s wrong with the community you represent.

Mmorpgs aren’t about progression. At least not when they first showed up. They were about virtual worlds we get to inhabit. They were about stories and lore. Exploration and adventure. The loot, the progression and everything else were just the secondary methods that were used to enhance the experience. That’s why we used to have weird stuff like weight allowances and different kinds of coins that didn’t automatically went up a tier. We had big races that sometimes couldn’t fit through certain doors, small races that couldn’t wield big 2handed weapons twice their size. We had worlds with souls. And then you came. Tell me, did you finally figured out why the average on a normal distribution is in the middle (and thus 50% of the population will always be below average) or are you still struggling with it?

Maybe they were not about progression in late 80’s and 90’s but we are in 2015. Just a reminder.

Waiting to see how an $80mil kickstarter project does before I have an answer to this. From what I’ve seen, this space simulation game programs down to an absurdly detailed level… for example, if you are free floating in a space ship and someone fires thrusters to change course, you get thrown against a bulkhead and take damage according to how fast you are moving, what armor (or lack thereof) you are wearing, and whether or not it’s a Tuesday morning on a planet with a full moon (pardon hyperbole). If this project is successful in modeling everything in the game to near reality, it could be the next big thing. Not sure I could afford the multiprocessor/multicore/multi-SLI supercomputer to run it though. Then again, I play games to escape reality, not experience it virtually.

Hype around Star Citizen and overfunded dev team that lost focus is a recipe for biggest crowdfunded flop so far. I hope it succeeds or rip crowdfunding and lots of indies. Kinda different target audience tho. Even eve will not be affected that much by it.

I honestly do not see the problem, we already have this ingame with dungeons, you have to do the dungeon if you want the skins.

And for those who don’t want to they can buy a slot in the end. Unless they change that, making the “unique” skins from challenging content sellable on the TP is pointless.

You do know selling dungeons can get you banned right? It’s against the rules.

Nope it’s not. Unless you exploit your way through it and get caught by a GM.

Not sure what the bonuses could be. Perhaps we could hire servants in them to collect the farmed ingreds for that map (sugar pumpkins, cabbages etc). They could also act as another access to our banks for immersion and convenience. Apart from that I’m lost for ideas. I’m sure others could come up with some good ones.
