It does not require a spy, one of the game hacks being used allows viewing of enemy troops anywhere on the map so they will always know exactly where you are at any given point in time.

If the enemy disappears and you get experience and loot then he most likely alt f4’d out although at times you may not receive anything for the kill. Some people have an ego that cannot take a loss to another player so by alt f4ing they think they are denying you the stomp and thereby actually win the battle.

At times there are those that will use a hack to avoid a stomp. You will consistently get no experience and no loot from these people and by consistent I mean every time you kill them. There are various hacks out there that will allow a version of “cheat death”.

I will agree with one statement the OP made in his analysis.

“That other game has it; we’ve seen it done there and enjoyed it.”

I have always wondered about why people want to turn a game they are currently playing into one they left behind. If you left a game behind then it obviously lacked something that your new game has and whatever game element you left and now want in the new game was not a strong enough game element to keep you there.

There is an issue with some events being broken and the inability to access a vendor due to that broken event. A good example of this is Krewe leader Dobbs in Timberline Falls to get the Ancient Stone Summit Shoulder Spike for the Treasure Hunter collection. That event has been busted for quite awhile now, it has been reported by many but remains busted.

Settle it with loot quality not quantity. The more people in the immediate area the lower the quality of loot the fewer the people the greater the loot quality.

In the case of Indigo one has to take into consideration the distance between the waypoint and where the person died. As Indigo is the furthest away from the waypoint then one can expect to see more dead bodies. You will see this everywhere you have a major battle, the further away from an uncontested waypoint the more dead bodies you will have.

Possible solution? Have the totally dead auto removed from the battle but instead of placing them at the nearest uncontested waypoint have them dropped in a safe area just out of range of the action and give them a 10-20 seconds summon sickness such as when using a revive orb. That penalty would increase on consecutive deaths. Give people a few seconds to decide to waypoint and run back normally or be placed into the safe area with summon sickness.

Call it a M.A.S.H. if you will. You can have a Doctor in the unit (call him Hawkeye) that for a fee will remove the summon sickness, a nurse that will grant you a temporary speed boost so you can get back to the battle (Hotlips) and even a armor repair station (man that with Klinger, a guy with whiskers in a sexy dress)

A waypoint requires extremely rare materials to construct. As they border on dragon magic each waypoint requires the crystallized heart of a dragon in order to function. Without that rare material you run the risk of this happening.

The chest spawn at Amber was high but other areas there were very few chest spawns. They could have spread the spawns out over a wider area but they chose to lower it instead. For example even before the nerf there was only a couple of chest spawn points in the vicinity of Blue. End result people wanted to defend Amber as there were more chests to pop during down time.

Incidentally it looks like, at least from my experience last night, that they also lowered the number of shovels granted for event completion.

The only problem with Ascended gear right now are the bottlenecks. These bottlenecks include the time gating to make certain components such as silk weaving thread and the high demand of other components such as silk. Those things can be adjusted such as lowering the time gate from once every 24 hours to once every 12 and by reducing the silk required from 3 scraps per bolt to 2.

I do have 9 level 80’s that I would like to equip in Ascended and do not mind putting in a reasonable amount of time doing so. However considering that crafting Ascended gear makes it account bound on acquire I have to level up each and every craft discipline that currently offers Ascended to 500 which already takes an inordinate amount of time, materials and gold. Either lower the restrictions/difficulty in obtaining some of the items, lower the difficulty/expense in getting to 500 level crafting or as the OP stated add more options.

If I wanted to outfit all 9 of my toons in Ascended given the fact that certain items required are gated to once per day do I really have a chance of reaching that goal? Someone else can do the math for me but I will shortly be 60 and I just do not have the time left!

I have yet to see a game that had capes where the capes looked good. For the most part they look tacky and cartoonish. Even in comics I could never understand the reasoning behind Superman’s cape. It was a non-functional piece of equipment that did absolutely nothing. Batman on the other hand had one of the very few “functional” capes in the comics as his cape added to the bat image and persona. Robin on the other hand would have been better off without a cape.

Currently in GW2 we have back stored weapons and backpacks that conflict with each other. Adding a cape to the mix is going to be problematic. I for one would rather see a scabbard for my longsword then a cape as a scabbard would have functionality whereas a cape is just a piece of fabric hung around the neck serving no purpose whatsoever.

Upon trying to log in after supper and a hockey game I found that there was another patch to download. I got a chuckle out of the patch notes

“Some improperly placed shadows were removed from terrain.”

So 35 plus files were infected by these shadows! Is this a portent of the future? Only the shadow knows for sure!
Pity the thief that tries to hide in the removed shadows.
If the shadow has been removed what will you shadowstep to when you shadowstep?
What determines if the shadow was placed properly or improperly?

So many questions….

Ideas of mine from various posts in the past.

1) EBG

>Inflate this map so no structure can be hit from another structure.

>Place SM Castle in the bowl of an extinct volcano, a very high volcano with a multitude of goat paths, switchbacks, rope bridges, tunnels that take you to the top

>The outer rim of the volcano bowl would be slightly higher then the castle itself allowing one way trebbing from the furthest range but forcing defenders to come out in the beginning.

2) BL

>Rename Borderlands to Homelands

>Homeland defenders get a supply boost, that is while in the HL map they can all carry more supply.

>Map again redesigned so no structure can be hit from another.

>Taxes are gathered from local populace so as structures are upgraded the cost in supply and coin to further upgrade those structures is lowered as collected tax covers part of that cost.

3) New BL

>this is one large map that encircles EBG and connects to each Homeland

>it has no structures but rather capture points much like the Bloodlust one

>as your team captures more of these points you form supply lines which will allow you to move a larger number of soldiers into an enemy HL. If your supply lines are broken while your army is in an enemy HL you will be forced to withdraw from that map.

>allows a small defense force to combat large numbers by sending people over to break supply lines.

>this map gives people who want to GvG a place. They do not have to worry about structures but can still help out their servers. Overall Changes

>Each tower/keep has a map of placed siege (as trebs are currently ) that can be accessed through an NPC called a Siege Mechanic. 3 people required to click on select all or select certain siege to be refreshed every 2 hours. If not selected it will be dismantled by the mechanic returning 75% of the supply to the structure. This is to avoid griefers, extend refresh times and make it simpler to refresh siege.

I did not read the complete thread but from the OP’s first post…

Well excuse me Mr. Perfect but if you spend so much time watching to see if a staff ele switches attunements then exactly how much are you contributing to the effort? I have used my staff ele numerous times against bosses and although I tend to stay in fire I will swap to water for healing purposes then back to fire. Since it takes 10 seconds to swap back into fire after swapping out then you would have to be focusing your attention on your party bar to see what attunement the ele is in for 10 seconds at a time.

Edit: Ever stop to think that perhaps the reason the staff ele died at range is that they spent their time in water to heal the group instead of themselves? Of course you did not think about that as it is about you!

By the way I have 9 level 80s and am quite aware of how each of the professions work!

Player attempted multiple times to zone back into this specific version of the map, "

Those two points, if true, tell me that the player was intent on grieving one group of people. His intent was not to farm as he could have done that in the instance he was moved to, his intent was not to progress a quest or story as again he could have finished that in the second instance. In that he made many attempts to get back to a specific instance where he could grief a specific group of people then he deserves what he got.

Googling on GW2 hacks, visiting a couple of websites that provide them and then reading their forums on those hacks you can gain a picture of the number of people that are actually using them or attempting to use them and it is ugly.

I did find something interesting reading the forums on one of the hack programs out there.. Certain things have been masked so as to keep it clean but this reply was from on of the developers of a certain hack program.

“Then try to manually inject the DLL (*.dll in “bin” directory into Gw2.exe)"

So the question is, and I am not a computer programmer, if they are injecting a dynamic link library into the Gw2 executable, would it not alter/change the size of that executable and would not a simple size check during login prevent a good chunk of these hacks?

Most every game I have played has gone the same route. What happens is the first wave caps out and newcomers are in a hurry to catch up. They can entice more of these newcomers to stick around if they lower the difficulty curve during that catch up period.

It is quite evident and quite frustrating in the Mad King’s Labyrinth when you have skeleton archers and mummies mixed together in close proximity. The mummy pulls, the skeleton blows you back, rinse and repeat. Rather then give mobs new skills they fall back to a “deus ex machina” and turn us all into “pushmi-pullyus”.

Currently I am grinding out enough silk to finish my Ascended armor set on my Guardian, then will move on to another one of my 9 level 80’s and equip them in Ascended. Just for something to do of course! With the rarity of silk and the sheer amount that will be required I calculate that I can finish all 9 sets of Ascended in about the same time that it will take me to slap 1 million yaks in WvW. It will be a struggle to reach my goals as I am currently 5 months shy of 60 years old but I do so enjoy the no-grind that this game provides!

Why is everyone raging here?! This is a good change. it encourages groups to go scout stuff, and not everyone sticking to 1 commander mindlessly following. You can still do that but don’t complain if they ninja keeps from you…

There’s also always the chat.. you know.. This is an MMO…

Just thought of another point. They lowered the requirements for a breakout to 5 people, they introduce golem mastery and now they are going to nerf the siege disablers and remove the white swords.

Something tells me they would rather do away with WvWvW altogether and just run the EotM karma train. With just two omegas I could sweep an enemy BL!

As we tell duelists on our server, take it to the windmill or it does not count as a duel. Even then while two people are dueling the bystanders are building stacks by taking the south camp. If you catch them in the act they run back to the windmill to pretend they are dueling. If you are dueling there better not be a sentry near you wearing your server colours or a dead yak.

Think about how big SM castle is and then think about how long it takes for someone with catapult mastery and a guild catapult to take down a wall. Now if 4 people did that from opposite sides of the castle, no white swords will be raised and any defender in the castle may find one or two but without the swords and a contested timer he may never find the other two.

Interesting yesterday when I had my level 80 engie clearing the map in Frostforge. Jormag was running so since he was in the neighborhood I wandered over and set myself up with the elixir gun and played healer. I did swap out to hit Jormag when the wall was down but obviously did not do enough damage as I did not receive a bonus chest for my efforts.

Not well thought out at all. As I mentioned in the other thread there are times in the wee hours when we can field only a handful of players. Someone will have to stay in each tower and at least 2 in each keep in order to be able to stop an attack and that does not leave anyone for camps. As there will be no white swords 2 people can open up an upgraded keep by setting a cata in an out of the way spot forcing a defender to continually monitor all walls and gates for damage. May as well kiss upgrading anything goodbye as there is no way in hell I am going to spend my silver to upgrade if there is no chance to defend it.

Can one person easily build a whole treb? A terrain glitch or even an innocent yet unknown tactical location would need several trips, potentially multiple suppliers at once all agile enough to get there.

If a hax, then of course the treb could be created too.

One person with enhanced supply from an +5 camp can carry 20 supply per trip making 5 trips required to build the treb. From where the treb is located the nw camp would be the logical supply choice as you have about 9 minutes between loads or the siege will despawn. However if the person is using a hack to teleport up there then he of course would be using that same hack to get supply by teleporting anyplace on or frankly off the map to resupply.

In the wee hours we are lucky if we have 5 people on our BL. With the removal of the white swords 2 people can take a fully upgraded keep or a tower by planting a cata in an out of the way corner. A defender would have to check every wall and gate for damage.

Not very well thought through at all.

If I build a game and a loot table I might have 100 items in that table. 30 trash items, 25 ordinary, 20 quality, 15 high quality and 10 uber items. As the game goes along I introduce a drop item, such as the recent collectibles I am not going to add it to the loot table as it introduces too many issues with the rng so I replace an existing item with the new one. Then I decide to add a new super-uber class of equipment. By adding this I have to alter the odds in all the other categories. Every time I make such adjustments to the table it affects the individual gamer.

However there is another problem and that is the global game economy. If I have only 100 people playing my game the number of super-uber items on the market are going to be low but if I have 10,000 people playing I am going to be awash with those items so I have to play with the odds in each category giving more weight to trash items and less to the higher level categories.

So the problem in loot and the lack thereof can be blamed on more items being introduced into the game and more people playing the game.

At least that is the way I understand it all!

I look at it this way. As an adventurer you enter a town that needs help to kill the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal that has been terrorizing the population. After going out and spending money on your towel, which incidentally is jacked up in price due to demand , risking your life in a heroic battle, and needing weeks to recuperate you are rewarded with 76 coppers.

Nope, the risk is not commensurate with the reward if you think on your character’s level and not on your own.

I would tie everything into supply and demand. Have all structures/objectives and people have a supply cost which is factored as a multiplier so the higher your supply cost is as a server the less supply you get. By tying it into supply a large blob would not be able to sweep and upgrade everything while the other server sleeps without running into supply issues making it easier for the weaker servers to take back some ground.

If my server owns all of EBG for example the supply cost is going to be tremendous and each yak may only deliver 10 supply at a time.The smaller server would have more supply being delivered to their towers/keeps making it easier for them to upgrade and build siege and if my server only has one tower and a camp then that yak may deliver 200 supply per load.

An army marches on its stomach…make it so!

It will be necessary with anything like this to remove the “idle” people, those that are on the map just for crafting bonuses and the like so craft stations would have to disappear.

Something truly smells rank in the rank up chests and I suppose that is exactly why they are considered rank chests. Everyone that enters WvW is auto-leveled to 80 so it makes little to no sense to me why gear from the chests should be sub 80 gear. I got lucky tonight or so I thought when I opened my rank 902 chest and got 2 exotics! Wow, my luck just went from bad to good or so I thought. Upon further investigation both pieces were level 76 and since all 9 of my toons are 80 the junk was only fit for salvage. A few chests back I received 2 identical green hammers, both sub 80s from a rank chest.

Would it be too much to ask for some decent loot? Or at least usable?

Killed a lot of warriors with my Ranger and I am still not finished gearing him up. Condition cleanse usually does not help them much as I am a Power Ranger with 105% crit damage and 80% crit chance with his current setup! Timed correctly Quickening Zephyr and Rampage as one with Rapid Fire doing over 1,300 × 10 damage they will usually turn to run and heal which is where Long Range Shot comes into play, the further away you are the harder it hits! Remember with 80% crit chance I can get up to 8 out of 10 rapid fire shots to be delivered as a crit!

One extra row from what you have in your mock-up and it would work. Keep each class in their own row so if I want a thief I would select from the thief row.

I am working on taking my alts through map completion. With the last 2 I have taken through this quest each time I successfully create a potion and Cesselaia tells me to use it on the spider my character is locked in position and cannot move to the cage. I end up wasting the potion and in fact have to go to character screen and log back in to have my character move again.
